Yep. Now we are supposed to take ideas (aka materials) from them and build...but have refused.

It's all about leadership though(like he alluded to)...which we happen to be very bad at.
Bro everyone is different, all that we have today as development one way or the other was taken from them in the past 40 years, take it or leave it.Even the so-called leadership is copied from them, or you forget we operate the same system as the US when it comes to politics? even though we do not follow through.

Smh! Is it not common sense that moving metal parts will deteriorate faster when used frequently than when used ocassionally? Hence, it's a no-brainer that a car with start-stop technology has to have reinforced kickstarters otherwise the kickstarters will damage quicker with too frequent use. And not just the kickstarter alone, even the engine is at risk. An engine that stops and starts too frequently is at risk of higher wear and tear than the regular engine. No matter how good the engine oil is, grinding occurs, and synthetic oil can only minimize the effect to a minimal level, but it can not eliminate it completely. So even the engine bearings of a car equipped with stop-start tech etc are reinforced. And you might discredit wikipedia, understandable, but can you discredit "Haynes"?

Your starter might look like the normal one, as in appearance wise, but the difference is in the metallurgical build and components design. It is stronger and more durable by factory-build than the normal type. But some starters look different.

The cars with stop and start technology (which i referred to as the modern fuel system) use reinforced kickstarters that are built to be able to withstand frequent shutting off and restarts of the engine by the stop and start system.
Great. I have looked underneath mine, can't find anything like that, can you share a link to this statement?

Regularly turning off a car in short periods and turning it on back again will kill or damage your kickstarter faster than normal. If the waiting period is short, like a traffic light that goes green again maybe within 3 minutes or under, then there's no point turning off your car. But if the waiting period is long like 7 minutes and above, you can turn it off if you want. For the average vehicle in average shape, turning off your engine makes a difference in fuel consumption over long periods, that is saves fuel, but over short period of time it is a futile act because the fuel you saved by turning off the engine will be used to start it. But if your car is equipped with some modern fuel systems tech, you don't ever need to turn of your engine, as your engine will go to sleep mode by itself when it doesn't detect throttle movement over a certain amount of time (some 3 minutes etc) and then reactivate automatically by itself once you engage the throttle.
SO what say you with the stop and start technology in newer mech and Audis?

When you service your car depends on the type of oil you use and the the mileage you have covered. If you are using synthetic oil (the likes of mobile 1, duramax, hardex etc) recommended by the manufacturer. You service your car every 6000 to 7000km or every six months which ever one that comes first. If you use the normal non synthetic oil (the likes of mobile, total, sinopec, etc) you service every 3000km or 3months which ever one that comes first. Most Nigerians don't use the right oil for their car but it will be less evil if you change more frequently. Always use manufacturers recommended oil type. It might be more expensive but it pays in a long run.
No full synthetic oil is designated to be changed every 6 months, unless that is fake cos the 5 ltr of that oil will weigh your pocket down

I disagree. I know someone who used a car for 6yrs. He travels alot with it. Lagos to Kogi, he gets it serviced. I cant remember though, as an Engr, he had a distance he covers that deserves servicing. To n fro..... When he sold the car, the buyer said the engine was tokunbo.
The only way this is possible is if your car is for business.and car service as regards change of parts is by mileage. If he covers 3k miles plus then yes, you can change ur Engine Oils. The best bet to go by is ur Oficial manufacturer's page,Now here is a twist if your car is modern tyou can use up to 5Kmiles and your car says you should use full synthetic Oil your car go as far as 15K miles before a change

Hmmm, you’re getting it twisted.

Nothing has to be wrong with your car before you service it.

Comprehensive servicing includes but not limited to

Engine Oil change
Oil filter change
Air filter change
Checking and Topping up all the fluids in the car to appropriate level
Checking the brake pads and replacing them if worn-out beyond recommended percentage
All other sorts of mechanical, electrical or physical inspections carried out.

Do these every 10,000km 6 months and you stand a chance of keeping your car in good shape.

This is the maintenance culture we lack in Naija.

This is what most of our American, Australian and European car owners do regularly hence we can buy their used cars
No body I repeat nobody in America or Europe service their cars every 6 months! your MOT/SMOG test is yearly, so where did you get this from?
