Triniti: What are they waiting for in executing this man and his police dpo accomplice? This fool of man chased this young boy in an open street and shot him dead at close range just because he came to collect the money for the laptop he sold to his daughter, killed and drag his dead body to the police station as a thief. Connived with the dpo and buried him without contacting any members of his family, I suggest they put him in an electric chair so that he can feel the pains he caused the family of this young boy. I think I remember this case, was a sad one. Justice was done. |

just so you know, the port is currently deserted as there as no contracts for vessels and massive lay-off of staffs.

The facilities is for imports and exports, in fact the heavy crane is to handle imports, 0r what heavy stuffs is Nigeria exporting. Lagos port is NOT the only port for importers. It is just that insecurity scare importers from others. Nah its the lack of fleets thats stops the influx of vessels to ports like Onne. International flights frm the EU and America do not land in every Airport in Nigeria for a reason. |

lexy2014: Am not saying d info he provided is wrong. If u check my initial query, I asked y is warri port underutilized? and that spending $3.9b on a new port isn't justified when d existing one is underutilized. If d new port is built will it not suffer d same fate based on what u have just said? Unfortunately, d guy left d issues I raised& started talking about the shallow port. So I sent him on an errand Well I agree with part of what you said, cos in reality Im actually surprised by saying they are building a new port WHERE?? cos the port of warri is functioning fully to what it can handle.People import fru there for things used in that region. The Issue of shallowness was raised by some govt official when it came to expansion and it was a political move to kill the port. The dredging has been left to private investors in the region.I sense this as another Scam if indeed these monies are to be paid or else story as usual. Onne Port is there whats the use of Warri port if not people growing some sense of entitlement that doesn't exist. |

BeautifulMind2: Inland waterways are secondary channels and are dependent on the international routes to operate. This is because inland ports and waterways have certain inherent limitations that prevent ocean-going vessels from passing or berthing at the ports. For instance, inland ports are usually bordered by bridges that make it impossible for big vessels to pass or berth. And with a draught of between 2.5 and 3.0 metres, inland waterways cannot accommodate big vessels that move on minimum draft of 8.5 metres. Consequently, mother vessels entering the country must first trans-load to smaller vessels which then will convey the goods through the inland channels to the river ports. The standard procedure is that mother vessels that are designed for a draught of between 8.5 and 10.5 metres ferry goods into the country and thereafter transfer the goods to barges, which in turn trans-load to smaller boats that can move on inland waterways and berth in inland ports. Good xplanation but for vessel owners like Grimaldi, do you really wanna go fru that hassle? at what profit?logos is good for them to drop off as last West African port of discharge. |

BeautifulMind2: What is holding Baro river port and Onitsha River port is second Niger bridge project, there is no means small vessels can sail from warri port to Onitsha or Baro Niger state without going through Onitsha, JB has blocked the River Niger from Onitsha end, the ports will start functioning once they complete the bridge that main reason they are rushing the project, JB promised to deliver the bridge in 2020/2021 Lubish, the true problem they will have is Vessels choosing to go there, its like saying Lufthansa will land in Warri Airport by force. Please take the Onne Port as a case study as it is in private management. |

D info on d links u have provided doesn't say d port is shallow or deep. What u should have done was to provide d minimum dimension of what u will consider a deep sea port& compare with d dimension of Warrior port The i nfo that guy gave you is accurate, the only problems of Onne and Warri seaports are Underutilisation, if more vessels chose to land there then the port is game, however, the Fg cannot force this!unless the introduce a policy to force this. |

unclesoyo: Fifty-nine commercial sex workers in Calabar have been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS)
In a report by Vanguard, Mr Ilupeju Adebayo, Director of the DSS Command in Cross River, made the disclosure to newsmen on Saturday in Calabar.
He said those arrested were picked up around 2:15 a.m on Saturday at the Peace Garden Hotel and Papsi Place, Calabar and they are made up of 43 girls and 16 men.
He said:
“We got an intelligence report and swung into action. We have been on the matter for months. We discovered that the girls are mostly underage, mostly between the ages of 13, 15, and 19 years of age.
“We also know that they were brought in by a cartel, deeply involved in the business of trafficking and using the girls as commercial sex workers.
“The girls then bring returns to them at the beginning or close of the week, depending on their modus operandi.
“We have made some arrests including that of the owner of Papsi Place, a brothel that houses mostly underage girls who pay him N2,000 on week days and N4,000 at weekends as lodging fees.
“They operate from the hotel, to clubs were we arrested them stark naked.
“We have contacted the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), while investigations are ongoing until all those involved in the illicit trade are arrested and charged to court,’’

Ugosample: no need for plenty grammar and you end up talking even more grammar
your own experience is equally not a yardstick to judge others, based on your own logic.
I have been profiled at the point of entry in different occasional (not all the time tho) and those of us here with similar experience can relate
Okay let me give you an instance
have you been taken to a holding room before and your currency scrutinised one by one because they assume that every Nigerian carries fake currency? yes indeed, I had that experience
how about when we were asked to identify ourselves in a residential complex where me and my friend's rented to stay short term, and on identifying the three of us as NIGERIANS, we were taken to station for further questioning
tho they were polite and professional, and later apologised (apparently there was a jacking in the area and someone must have reported) the stress and discomfort was too much.
those are just two experiences of more. I have been denied a rental because I'm Nigerian too (filled it in my application and that was it)
You are our of touch with current happenings so I will not blame you, YOU ARE PROBABLY ABOVR 40 years and look old and only old people don't get profiled as much
but if you are a man looking 35 below, chances of profiling IS HIGH.
since you insisted on my experience, I have given you two All that you mentioned would have happened to you if you were from Jamaica. My point is not cos you are Nigerian but as far as you are a Visa national you are subject to control without notice. There was a time where the British would not let their houses to the Irish, it was the turn of the polish and more recent the Romanians. And for your illustration up there, what countries did that happen? |
