So this calls for the application of some wisdom when advertising your 'potential' miracle working power Xtian gragra : you're a doubter of faith and the healing power of Jesus Logic : Not so. Perhaps, it would be much better if the pastor moves his headquarters to the parts of Guinea that are infected Xtian gragra : But daz not the way miracles work. You have to come to the source to show your willingness to get healed Logic : But Jesus said we shld go into the world to preach the gospel and heal the sick and besides, if the missionaries waited outside our shores, we won't have gone to them to get saved xtian gragra and Logic then reach a compromise: Perhaps pastor can open the church in the infested villages in Guinea far from Nigeria and without going outside the church building simply advertise that they should all come to him for healing. yes, ...that looks like faith |
Logic : Let's talk about sex outside the label of sin if you have sex with a lady that was developed in a petri dish without human contact till today and she is past the age of menopause you won't think about using a condom would you? afterall, folks use CDs for sex primarily for two reasons 1) Preventing unwanted Pregnancy 2) Preventing STD Now, if folks feel otherwise, then you'd find out that they'll have loads of unprotected sex, right? and a lot of them will end up with diseases and unwanted pregnancy Whereas, those that were more cautious would then to have lesser incidence of such So this calls for the application of some wisdom when advertising your 'potential' miracle working power |
I am a christian, with a strong leaning towords the envangelical strain and its associated gift of miracle working I am also a student of science and its requirement for some rigorous thinking I recently read a post about a Nigerian pastor emphasising his 'potential' Ebola curing miracolus powers The xtian gragra part of me was more than happy to accept this but instantly, my science bit cautioned me to think a little bit and apply some logic |
@ishilove I'll explain why we're like this. I'll do so using a bad example 1) when a few males or females in a society are molested once or twice when they are mature the individuals and the society they belong to take the matter very seriously 2) but when an entire community has been consistently (almost on a daily bases) molested from childhood the reaction is different they make jokes about it and rationalise it u might then hear stuff like: -"But he was gentle when doing it" -"At least I chop him money b4 him do am" -"I wish he used a CD" -"no mind am, with him short staff" Some nations are like the first ours is like the second ..so we don't easily get shocked |
^^^ your question can also be viewed in another way hence I highlighted 'particular' in the earlier post "Why do junk foods tend to be cheaper than fresh foods?" The answer to this is that whereas fresh food is perishable thus making the seller susceptible to financial loss junk food on the other hand, lasts for a long time and so can be easily imported from countries where cost of production is very low |
^^^ Let's use the example of vegetable vs egusi. As a 'rich' guy, if you go to the market to buy either of them the prices of both will be hiked once they see you The 'poor' guy won't suffer any of such hike But when both poor and rich go to same restaurant, the prices are already set so no bargaining the propietor of the restaurant will gradually start increasing the price of the food that she notices that the rich person likes a lot |
BedLam: It's not like much energy or money were spent on producing this healthy food. Junk food tend to have moreYour particular question might answer itself more easilly if it is presented this way? "Why is it that foods that have higher demand from wealthier people tend to be more expensive"? The answer is something like this: 1) Even if the food is unhealthy and the richer folks go for it, it will tend to be more expensive 2) The reason is because the richer you are, the less your tendency to stress by haggling or 'pricing' stuff. 3) This in turn makes the trader/middleman more comfortable in setting higher prices for things that you like |
@OP Yes, this unique economic ideology is not properly documented however we are exporting it to other West African countries like Ghana our unique global xtian evangelism and nollywood is also spreading same ideology globally just the way the West introduced their ideology to us through xtianity and the Arabs gave us theirs through trans saharan Islam |
@Op lets break the article into its constituent bits and then analyse (without losing sight of the thrust of the article) Capitalism, communism and "africanism" There has always been capitalism an communism 'ideology' in all parts of the world including africa even before Smith and Marx what those fellas simply did was write about it and attach some reasoning to their write up leaders then went ahead to adopt the reasoning and created dominant national policies based on them and sought to protect or push their economic reasoning So today, you can call the US a capitalist economy, and NKorea a communist society We (Nigeria) have not really adopted any of these. Our economic principle is simply but not yet documented: Harness as much resources from your environment and that of your neighbour to feed yourself, your family and your Chi I think this ^^^^ is quite an original reasoning even if you argue that it is defeatist or retrogressive |
@OP interesting article however my critique is that it seeks to tackle too many issues within a small space consequently the minuscule message that scales through albeit scattered is the demise or non-ascendancy of sub-saharan values/ideologies |
^^^^ oops just realised that I forgot to add conditional formatting in the video sorry about that this is how you do it: Highlight d15 to G21 go to "conditional formating" go to "new rule" go to the last one called "use a formula to determine which cell to format" in the "format value where this formula is true" box type $f15="Red" click format got to "fill" choose red click ok click ok Repeat using $f15="Yellow" Then finally, repeat using $f15="Green" |
@OP wow!! Thanks. this was very informative. Its something i never happened on |
catchdwind4rmkd: I am still waiting siri'll try to do something this weekend 'i've been xtremely busy |
too many dumb folks out here I cant believe a number of people read the post and could not make a sensible meaning out of it Metuh simply suggests that APC does not represent islam afterall Islam is described as a religion of peace Just as Muslims say that Boko haram does not represent Islam He then suggests that APC is a religious extremist party ...please read carefully next time |
akitijackson: Somtyms I wonder nd I get mixed feelings abt it. I knw it's a gud thing getting married to a pastor, bt it feels like being in a cage. All marriages are a kind of cage just the way your skin is a a kind of cage were your soul is locked in and indeed this earth is a cage... I'd like to visit different planets, but can't but just as you are able to mold your body to align with your soul so you are able to mold your marriage (to a large extent) to align with your pursuits I do not know your situation, so my advise might not be accurate - u cld get your husband to drop u and the kids abroad while he lives in Nigeria - U cld encourage ur husband to teach his congregation that they need not refer to his wife when assessing spirituality etc ...stay blessed |
"Enemies" umh,...that is an extremely strong word Immediately you label someone an enemy, you psychological whip up 3 options. Yes, 4 options indeed ...na so bible maths be 1) Avoid 2) Attack 3) defend against 4) Convert to a friend Now lets see..... -Our collective Nigerian enemy is the devil and winches -the enemies of the Nigerian East is the Nigerian West -the enemies of the Muslim North is the Infidels (mainly the "Niyamiris") - the enemies of the Niger Deltans is the rest of Nigeria who want their oyel, but don't like their presidency -The enemy of PDP and its e-rats is APC and its e-rats There is a saying that we should keep our friends close, and our enemies closer Let's make do with our present category of enemies that are closest to us. |

GoldenDr: Please continue with the tutorials. na be I dey o!!!!!I am thinking if making videos in response to questions and embedding them on this thread might not be more useful. My concern is if the Nigerian based audience have enough byte power to watch them. I'll do a little survey to find out |
catchdwind4rmkd: CAN SOMEONE PLS HELP ME ON HOW TO CREATE A "DROP DOWN LIST" ON EXCEL?Are you able to watch youtube videos I cld post some links for the tasks that you've mentioned ..cheers |
Thumbs up to all the innovators it might lead to nothing at the endof the day in terms of money and sellable products buts its an edifying excercise nevertheless |
AjanleKoko: Here we go againAJ, I think Kuntash -'s advice can be unwittingly viewed as two pronged. From the stance of the first view, you've rightly advocated that that is a government and not individual's responsibility to devolp a sustainable environment ..however, we know the nigerian government is not that sensible so in such a circumstance, we could infer the 2nd view: i.e., that Kuntash is suggesting that if the innovator wants to succeed and make some livelihood (from innovation) within the harsh Nigerian environment s/he should concentrate on innovations that are within our local comprehension and adoption ..for example solar powered phones, solar powered pure water, solar powered bibles and Korans e.t.c |
apolonius: This is a masterpiece and it captures the most explicit highlights of the UK and the pathways to its best opportunities and careers. ![]() |
doctimi: I don't seem to understand what it means..... I'm I the only one in this category? Can someone show some love by explaining what the map depicts! Abeg me too wan learn!usually maps like this helps you understand cultural groupings and how to act on them For example Hofstede's charts <http://geert-hofstede.com/nigeria.html> makes you understand that compared to Nigerians, a British big man is more likely to ride in the same car and seat as a poor man -power distance We are more likely to look out for one another than the british person -Individualism However we all have looked at this map/chart and are surprised that the HBR of Africa came up with it |
AjanleKoko: As much as I'd love to take the credit . . . unfortunately I got this from Business Insider.naa fortunate it wasnt your idea the tool lacks head or tail |
Also for the sake of argument if God exists in opposite. I.e love and wrath etc then arguing using Paul's style, I could say that whereas the opposite of reward is punishment the opposite of eternal life is death eternal |
alexleo: Read that scripture thoroughly and you will see that its not about some tower of Babel person.Isaiah 14 How are you fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn. You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, I will ascend to heaven,... ..sounds more like the aspirations of the tower of Babel to me. From the earth they built upwards and were then dispersed. It might not be the case sha. Compare to Ezekiel 28: 15 You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire. 15"You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created Until unrighteousness was found in you. 16"By the abundance of your trade You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of ... ..Now this sounds more like Satan. Note there is a direct reference to cherub here, I also noticed that folks dont often use the Ezekiel verse. Many probably haven't seen this |
alexleo: Isaiah 14;12Considering that we are generelly challenging a number of assumptions From what period in time did it come to be taken that this scripture referred to the devil? Other passages in Isiah seem to be allegories of kingdoms and kings of that time. Why the romantization that that "son of the morning" was referring to Satan? Who says for example that it was not nimrod or some leader who sought to build the tower of Babel to reach unto the heavens? |
alexleo: Revelation 20.Looking at these scriptures again it does leave some question marks Whereas it explicitly suggests that the devil, beast and false prophet will be tormented forever in the lake However, it does not suggest the same for humans in fact if you peer closely at the verses, it could also suggest that after humans have faced the torment/formlessness of hell/death those not found in the required books, and death and hades will be obliterated by the fiery lake -the 2nd death |
Forgive my forgetfulness Its been long since i read the bible cover to cover can someone please help point out where it is said in the bible that the second death (lake of fire) will be forever for humans Thanks |
Now back to God Let's assume that he thinks up a world/universal system and its rules and creates it it could have been something else, but it so happens that it was this one that was established he then created beings with different level of consciousness to partake in the world we are then governed by the rules of the game and stir our avatars towards different goals ...u can also check this out https://www.nairaland.com/1797193/attempt-coceptualize-differentiate-betwee-god |
