Lovine: I believe there is healing but only through God. No believer in this present dispensation has the power to call God to heal any man. All we can do is pray(communicate)to(with) God. If it is part of his will, healing will come at God's time if it is not His will, then that prayer is a futile exercise.I believe that healing exists however, i believe that it is a function of man I have never read anywhere in the bible where someone was taking a stroll, and just got healed like that As a christian, i believe, that God made everything and that for him there is no difference in 'miracle' between your ability to eat and your ability to grow a new limb |
I have never witnessed cheating in professional exams, and i dont think it is right to cheat in such exams except maybe you're cheating to get higher scores than needed to pass (Cheating is cheating alright, dont get me wrong,.... but it is a moral code subject to various intepretations and the environment which one exists in) that ^^^ aside ...., Professional exams if well designed ensures that one actually has the neccesary knowledge and skills needed to function in specific roles. So if you pass the exams (either through cheating or honesty) and are not able to function in the role, then you (and/or the professional body) have failed the recruiting organisation who ascribed to that certification .. with increasing inability of the certificate holders to perform, ...that professional exam/body/certification is soon avoided by recruiters ^^^ this unfortunately is the story of many Nigerian universities |
Was having a little debate about this and thought I should open it up.. It's easy to say no, but think about it. What are the chances of getting a high-quality, global job if one doesn't have some sort of history with a top-ranked global school? What are the chances of finding a graduate of Herriot-Watt doing meaningful, specialized work in the the Goldman Sachs London office? These company's sometimes only recruit from certain schools anyway. It's easy and a cliched to say "anything is possible" or "It's what you can do...," but can you back these assertions up with factual, searchable examples? Help close this "school doesn't matter" debate, wise ones.
well, well, well I believe that at this point in this thread we've been able to establish a couple of things 1) A big name school does matter in some companies and many places 2) It doesnt mean they are smatter than you, its just what it is 3) It doesnt mean they'll get better paid than you, but they'll get better paid than many 4) It doesnt mean that if u dont have a big name school in ur CV you wont get specialized roles in some companies, .. but it does mean that it would be statistically harder 5)It does mean that elitism is in demand (there's a study that finds this trumping over race) 6) Getting a big name school in your cv apart from some intelligence needed, would need some N10 million annually (pretty cheap in terms of cost benefit analysis) |
Lovethywilbedon: Am still to make a sence from this post.the post describes the life of a champion, what makes them who they are its something like this u dont hear much about jesus before his ministry started but when he starts his ministry, it moves in leaps and bounds The shadow/secret place is where u get perpared for what you end up becoming The secret place is where something pushes you to keep training towards a goal When your time comes, you then see that you are able to do many things quite easily This is what the post describes as mounting up with wings of eagles Study the stories of successful people you admire you'll understand the pattern |
so you are?
I am still trying to figuure out how a 'prose' led to the lesbian question in the first place |
I thought in our youth service we all swore to serve our father land ![]() whether we are from Harvard or college of technology ado-ekiti |
are you a lesbian?
and whats ur interest in that? ![]() |
Those who dwell in the secret place of the most high the abide under the wings of the almighty Its interesting when someone goes into a secret place ( i am not talking about prayers) when you are in the background preparing for something under the tutelage of God Folks do not see you then They dont know what you went through when you consistently spent 18hrs in the day studying a subject when you looked at the mirror, envisioned your future style and tried to fit into it when you did your gruelling 100 press ups per day to develop your 6 pack abdomen When you argued endlessly with your gatemen, dad and others and recorded and played back your little mirror speeches to develop your powerful oratory skills When the girls you tried toasting embarrased you for possessing weak yans (apart from a weak pocket) You cried, and almost gave up as you struggled under the shadows of HIS mighty tutelage But HIS wings brushed away your tears HIS wings carresed you to you feet and nudged you on you persisted ...... They shall mount up with wings of eagles they shall run and not be weary Here you are, the product of fermentation Now, you've become the woman of your dreams you can feel it whirling inside of you your wings are sticking out, beautiful swan,... daughter of the most high its time to hit the track on your marks,.... just go,... dont look back RUN baby RUN the tracks are not enough? The skys beckon FLY baby FLY .... its in your DNA like father like daughter ![]() (c)me and papa God. if you try copy,.... holy ghost fi.... |

Ishilove: #Colleagues#good girl I enjoy when someone tidies up after me *Throws off the next sock towards the kichen* ![]() |
^^^ i always used to laugh when I hear babies/kids doing their: baba, godi uhni dudi But I am begining to appreciate the mechanism of their verbal action as they try their best to vocalize their feelings by trying to immitate the speech output of the adult human race all in a bid to produce desired outcomes after trying for a while without getting required result response, they just scream and hope somehow things sort themselves I guess this thread is us screaming |
tsmith: I kinda sense you are not in Nigeria, I.e. You are communicating out of your normal depth. I actually align with what you're going through, but I associated mine to be a result of child birth as I have noticed a massive difference with my comms before and after childbirth in terms of what we call 'fonee'I am indeed communicating out of my normal depth. my fonee plus my use of business jargon (academic type) plus lack of correct terminolgy for present environment ,.. all join To make matters worse I made a career change after the birth of my 1st child, so there I was a 'cowboy' project analyst who claims to have years if experience dah dah dah (I guess lots of naija can relate with this). chei!! you are a naughty girlSame here sha being in unfamiliar but pressured terrains and the need to keep on top with the office project lingos saw my communication confidence take a nose dive. I start to stammer, simple words start to elude me and I end up coming across as a total bum!that look in their eyes abi Now with good 5 years experience and the fact that I do truly know my stuff, you would think it should be in the past, but hell no! The unfortunate thing is that I know I am far more intelligent than I come across at work. I hold a hid argument outside of work, state my case clearly and all, but even I laugh what I am like at work. You probably exist in too many worlds while your work collagues exist in a singular world of work afterall na you still dey sell bag and shoes for nairaland ![]() It's got me thinking more about the root cause and how best to circumvent this, a few of my analogies are:Sounds like you got yourself a tidy solution |
@tsmith Yesterday, i impressed myself after soaking in this thread I saw everyone I spoke with at the office nodding their head |
AjanleKoko: I respectfully differ.yep, that is true But it depends on how you got into Harvard. If daddy elrufai, the government or the other minister sponsored your education then you have no 'debt of damocles' hanging over your head So it would make sense to repay society its own debt by folding your sleeves and jumping into our murky national terain where you can brink your skills and extensive network to bear in a greenfield area -obama towed this path of social activism after graduation from Harvard |
^^^ now that is a great take it combines intelligent quotient with social quotient So Harvard not only shapens your intelligence, it also presents a social network that you can leverage on to take you places, if you are upt to it |
tsmith: Haa haa, I sensed right, you r in obodo oyinbo like me, long n short, u get all the skills and knowledge that u can n return to your home country where you would be better appreciated and you don't need to keep paraphrasing your thoughts.tsmith no worry I'll brink my mat and join u. (Sorrow likes company) Make we dissect this thing well, well U never can tell,..... salvation might be awaiting around the corner |
@tsmith not to worry about some of your assumptions but Wow!! You got me thinking real good Thanks |
AjanleKoko: A Harvard graduate should not be looking for work in Nigeria in the first placeemm But Nigeria is where they are needed most |
I have not met a Harvard-trained business graduate earning less than the equivalent of 1 million a month. 300,000 is something a truly skilled, locally-trained graduate with 3 years experience should be able to reject comfortably. Sadly, Nigerians are happy settling, and justifiably so. Not like the jobs are really out there...
They're not happy settling you rightly said that the jobs are not there (we could even break ^^ that further) We must remember that beyond the quality or brand of school you attend, econonmic and social demand matters -Obama's dad went to Havard and Obama's book says he ended up 'unemployed' and cast out -Obama went to Havard and ended up as president Distinction between black and white is rare there are lots of shades of grey |
Ok, calm down guys... I used 300,000 to signify that even if they wan volunteer free of charge in a company the company go beg them to at least take N300,000 for lunch and transport |
Yep they can all be taxed in Nigeria One way of doing this is to pay tax at the point of purchase All it needs is a great design and legislation to make it work Thats why we went to school... to think out of the box |
1)School'Brand' Matters very well 2)Shool matters 3) We can suceed despite not having either, ......but it matters we can give examples of all 3 phenomena -I am yet to see a Harvard trained graudate earning less than the equivalent of N300,000 per month -I do see a number of 1st class grads from 'i drink garri universities' trying hard to sustain a 100 or 200 thousand naira a month, and then just giving it up the constant struggles and going for phd's -someone from a 'branded' school might not be more intelligent than you, but would be more attractive to recruiters except she's plain dull -Some that did not go to or finish school are extremely wealthy -Many that did not go to school (at least in Nigeria) form the class of the poor -Many that went to 'branded' schools are at least middleclass |
AjanleKoko: LOL.Thanks seems to be working ![]() Also Thanks to all that contributed in attempting to give me a voice again I also thank my mum, dad, siblings and aunties thanks to my girlfriends, and concubines special thanks also goes to my bingo who did not loose faith in me and kept on leaking my face in the face of my adversity emmm... thanks to my .... i don tire *picks nice female trophy and steps out of the stage* *hears someone screaming in the background "hey... stop this is the familly section, you just took my wife"* *hastens steps and makes for the exit with trophy in tow* |
jeffizy: It simply means you are not eloquent which has nothing to do with deficiency in vocabulary. But I was eloquent and I am presently extremely confident (to a fault) I think AJ was able to accurately dicepher what my challenge is I have already started applying his recomendation, and it seems to be working BTW, Your writing skill is very strongThanks |
@post The sensible thing to do will be to see the findings on research that shows that building on weekend has a direct relationship with collapsed structures or at least commision a study on such relationships You dont just dream up far reaching and shallow policies from the comfort of your desk SMH |
Oahray: thought you had no problem with talking alot and wanted a 'step down'Amen sister ishi |
Oahray: em... Could't find anything in boldface. Maybe it's my phone font or browseryou said "most things that can be learned can be unlearned" Kindly expatiate |
AjanleKoko: Of course he was aware. But it's hardly likely that you can second-guess a number of random questions. Unless you are well-versed in the methodologies behind the tests being applied to you. Kind of like a lie-detector test.Ok sha but i have used MBTI tool kit and arrived at numerous personality types for myself within days or hours all depending on which characteristic I like the tool to potray me as. (Maybe its because i understand how the tool works) Although MBTI provides for standardized assessment I prefer descrete observation in assesing peoples personality in work context |
AjanleKoko: I even know a real-life case of two MBTI profiles done on the same person over a course of ten years, between 2002 and 2012. The initial tests indicated the person to be an INFJ, dominant introvert. He was asked to work extensively on his communication skills if he wanted to be effective in his chosen profession. Same MBTI profile was run on the same person in 2012, and he indicated as an ENTJ. Diametric opposites. Was the person aware of the purpose of this profiling? When people are aware of observations, they are able to change their characteristics to match desired profiles Was this factored in? |
Oahray: lol. No one is ever too intelligent to put on the robe of simplicity. Can you kindly expatiate on the bolded. |
AjanleKoko: Okay, if I have this right, you mean when you are communicating non-technical stuff to technical people?Umhhhh.... Eureka so it might not be my fault afterall darn those tech people that made me think I was loosing my yanning skills, including my oga ![]() |
Ishilove: Your problem is you are too intelligent for your own good. Your language cannot express all that you have chucked in that big African head of your's, hence your challengestaks ma But what is the use of knowing all if u cannot express all? ![]() |
