Christianity EtcMother, Sons And Uncles Of God by esere826(op): 10:03pm On May 09, 2013
In my hay days of protestantism
I like many other protestants couldnt accept the notion of Mary being the mother of God

The catholics however always came out with this brilliant logic:

Catholic: Is Jesus God?
Me: Yes
Catholic: If so, then Mary is the mother of God

I felt it was blasphemy back then.
However, with time, the logic seems to make sense to me
I have now even been able to accept that John was a brother of God, and there were uncles, aunties, grandfathers, grandmothers, stepp siblings, nieces and nephews of God

And guess what, Jesus at the Cross also handed his mom over to a disciple John to kind of foster
So we have God's foster brother

Welcome to the God familly
IslamWhat Place Do Women Have In Jihad? Men Have Their Own Promise by esere826(op): 9:46pm On May 09, 2013
With Seun's rule famous number 17, my mind could not help racing through Islam and all I knew about it.
Then the question hit me.

Now, I don't mean to be insultive to the religion of Islam or make mockery of it,
but out of intellectual curiosity, I proceed

My understanding is that men have been promised 72 virgins if they die in a jihad
it is therefore a litle bit understandable that apart from seeking to defend the honour of God
there is a promise of specified blessings in paradise

But what about women, what promises do they have in paradise if they partake in jihad?

(I'd be grateful to receive some informed contribution. thanx)

Nairaland GeneralRe: Striking Down Rule 17 by esere826: 2:28pm On May 09, 2013
Seun's use of the term 'striking down' instead of 'striking off'
conveys his pyschological state of mind
You 'strike down' your enemy

Seun was finally gathering momentum on his inner bravery
and when it had reached a climax, he 'struck' down his fears of being assasinated for allowing his forum to be used to insult islam

So he struck down rule #17
FamilyRe: Blue-Collar Workers Want Their Children To Go to College: Why? by esere826: 9:49am On May 09, 2013
AjanleKoko: ...........I was in a situation like that recently. The person was a widow with three children, she was working as a house maid.
My frank advice to the person was to focus on the child that showed the most significant academic promise. For the others, I recommended that they go to trade schools or even get a job, and start supporting their sibling who would school full-time. Needless to say the advice did not go down well with her, and she left discouraged. .........
From the reactions to your post, I bet you have a feel of what played out in the woman's mind
I wont be surprised if she didnt bother analysing it so rigorously as folks have so done in this thread
She might simply have jumped straight to the conclusion that this oga na wicked oga

advises are somethimes like beautiful precious gold rings
they should be given to those who would treat it as precious

TravelRe: Nigeria, S/africa Approve Visa Free Regime To Officials by esere826: 6:27pm On May 08, 2013
@OP

What are the 9 MOU's?
and what country is going to benefit fromm the relationship amongst the two?
The report makes it clear that South Africa will benefit from tourism,
It also makes it clear that Nigerian and SA officials will benefit from visa free travels

Hope we dont sell our birthrights for a plate of potridge

*sighs deeply*

Both sides of the argument make fine points
This is one of those times I'd rather sit on the fence

there are so many factors to be considered
With the relatively cheap cost of schooling in Nigeria,
I'd rather that parents scrape to send their kids to uni

Looking at things from a crime perspective in Nigeria and throwing away morals
an educated jobless youth could fit into a white collar crime with little or no blood on their hands
an uneducated and jobless youth on the other hand could more easilly fit into cold blooded highway robbery

*Back to sitting on the fence I go*

The scriture says that a drowning man clutches on to straws
In order words, when you cant see any hope around you, you latch on to almost anything

It would therefore make sense in Nigeria to hold to Faith in the MOG
and to education

Perhaps, just perhaps, ......one might work
PoliticsRe: Reps, Gov Aliyu Want Dokubo-Asari & Kuku Arrested by esere826: 11:32am On May 08, 2013
The threats made by Asari Dokubo were not the rantings of a mad man
It was very strategic

What he was doing was presenting the same recipe of threats that Ciroma's group dished out when he insisted that the north must rule or else Nigeria will be ungovernable
(Buhari's own statement on the matter in hausa appears to have been purposefully misquoted in english)

You would recall that after Goodluck ended up wining, hell was escallated in the core north

Dokubo is simply craftilly demonstrating that what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander
