I have never really felt lucky
Everything I have had, I have always felt I deserved and much more

If I own Glo, or even become Nigerian president, I'd feel I deserve it and even feel short-changed

markos: whats the latest in your SAP career, this thread is quiet, have people realised that there are no cutting corners in the SAP world, have people realised SAP career can take up to 10 years before you start earning decent money?? whats your thoughts?

So if SAP is overtaken by a new ERP, I wld have lost all my investment

Spreadsheets are extemely useful o.. for life and work

Even when I am broke, Spreadsheets tell me how to navigate with my lean finances

I'll gradually push out more Excel knowledge. I just need to ensure that what I put out is usefull to all

Look out for what 'you can see' so that u dont struggle in life
when u do see ur future in a career path, struggles become challenges, and challenges will become exciting
even soaking garri within your sphere of vision will become like cornflakes

but meanwhile, go to class and 'struggle' until 'you've seen' what u need to do and the oppurtunity beckons u to grab it

Tips:

Great that some folks are learning

When u are in your Excel sheet and somehow get lost is a maze of data or empty space
you can find your way back to the first cell A1
by simply placing your finger on 'ctrl' key then clicking on 'home' key at the same time


the 'home' key is somewhere at the top right hand corner of your keyboard

Excel/spreadsheet skills are a must have
especially for those in the UK
Even if na dead body u dey wash for there, Spreadsheet skills will bring you before your Oga like Josephs dreams brought him before pharoah

Lets say you have more items that you want to add up, and the space seems restricted
What u do is to create a new row

Click on cell B8
place you finger on the 'alt' key, and at the same time, click on key 'I' then 'R'

yo will see a new row appear
You can put in data into this new row, and it will also add up at the bottom

*NOTE that the reason it adds up is because earlier, you used the equation =sum(B5:B9)
This equation is very flexible and can easily expand

if you had typed in addition like this: =B5+B6+B7+B8+B9
A new row within your summation block wouldnt have been automatically added

By the way, you can add some complexities to your spreadsheet

For example yo could create another set of summation that feeds data into cell B9
(the data for 'others')

click on cell H7....Type: 1000...click enter
click on cell H8....Type: 3000...click enter
click on cell H9....Type: =sum(H7:H8)...cclick enter

now go to cell B9...Type: =H9...click enter


cell B9 will henceforth be driven by data from H9

At work, such chart quickly shows 'oga at the top' where the bulk of expenditure is spent

You might have the need to quickly visually see where the bulk of your money is spent especially compared to other expenditures

Firstly
Click on cell A5...drag to Cell B9

Secondly
Go to ribon and click on 'insert'
Click on 'Pie' on the ribbon

Step 7: Input numerical dat plus some calculations

click on cell B3......Type: 100,000...click enter
Click on cell B5......Type: =B3*0.1 ..click enter
Click on cell B6......Type: 10,000....click enter

Click on cell B7......Type: 20,000....click enter
Click on cell B8......Type: 30,000....click enter
Click on cell B9......Type: 20,000....click enter

Click on cell B10 ....Type: =sum(...then click on cell B5 and drag downwards to cell B9....Type: ) ...click enter

Click on cell B12.....Type: =....then click on cell B3.....Type: -.....then click on cell B10......click enter

Step 6: practice begins

Go to Excel

click on cell A1......Type: My monthly salary vs expenditure....click enter
Click on cell B2......Type: Naira.....click enter
Click on cell A3......Type:Monthly Salary....click enter

Click on cell A5......Type: Tithe.....click enter
Click on cell A6......Type: Transport...click enter

Click on cell A7......Type: Feeding.......click enter
Click on cell A8......Type: Enjoyment......click enter

Click on cell A9......Type: Others........click enter
Click on cell A10 ....Type: Total Expenditure...click enter

Click on cell A12.....Type: Balance.....click enter

Step 5: calculating your expenditure against your salary:

You can start by writting down what you expect to spend for the month, or calculate what you have spent at the end of the month

Per month

Salary =N100,000
Tithe = 10,000
Transport = 10,000
Feeding = 20,000
Enjoyment =30,000
Others = 20,000
Total expenditure = 90,000

Balnce = 10,000

We'll take this into Excel

Step 4 learning to save for retrieval

Click on the Window icon at the top left hand corner of your computer
Click "save as"
A tray of different ways you can save excel is exposed
I usually choose either: Excel Workbook or Excel 97-2003 workbook
Click on the desired format.....
Figure out the rest for ya self


*hint if you save documents with memorable keywords in the name, you can always do a 'find' from the window icon at the bottom left of your computer

The interface shown above is a very exciting one
It can perform magic.

Excel can be used just like MS word etc, but once u start writing with symbols such as: =, -, +
Excel might suddenly start behaving like an ogbanje.

Reason is because Excel is a spreadsheet that was actually created to calculate.
That is the power of spreadsheets

Step 3

When you click on 'Excel', the application opens up as shown in the diagram below

Excel is made of a lot of horizontal and vertical lines , much like those old time graph note books
The labeling/identifying of your position in this 'graph sheet' is simple:

When you click on any cell in Excel, and look uppwards and sideways of the 'graph sheet'
you'll notice that a letter lights up at the top, and a number lights up at the left side. This is called coordinates.

The first cell of Excel (English style of reading) is "A1"

Good that you have such materials. Have you applied it?

You can check that you have excel by clicking on the icon that looks like a window (1)
Clicking on (1) opens up (2)
at the bottom of (2), click on "All programs' (3)
Scroll through the list that opens up until you see 'Microsoft ....'
Click on 'Microsoft office' to reveal Excel if it exists

If it does not exist in ur system, then beg ur IT friends to help u install it
