^^^ Umh,,,..... I am beginning to think I am actually gifted o 'probably should seek shelter under cuddlemii's wings *scratches head* |
b) recommend some good poems to read. And also suggest "how" I should read them so that they have an impact.
This is one of my favourites ................ What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare? No time to stand beneath the boughs, And stare as long as sheep and cows: No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass: No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night: No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance: No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began? A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. Leisure by W. H. Davies ............................. This is how you can read it. -imagine you're a kid wen ya papa send u message to go buy fanta come instead of running the errand quickly, u spend time creating movies out of everything you see along the way - It also helps you relax when you are so, so driven that you are loosing your leisure ![]() |
I have never in my life liked poetry. It simple doesn't resonate for me. Can you: a) explain why you like poetry, what it does for you
I love reading a few poems, but like writing loads of em it puts my feet in 2 worlds, while playing with words i.e, I could be writing about something I like, and yet presenting it like something else that someone can relate to Now imagine I want to talk about creativity, innovation, writing etc in a poetic way. Watch this: ...................................................... the quivering pen is out starring in wonder at the unspoiled void wetness at last the void despoiled a heave, silence, and its all out now to life the deep has been crowned never again in the place of imaginations ............................................................ You notice that what I have written can also be intepreted as s.ex simply because I created my poem to fit into that mould So much fun isn't it? |
@OP jeez what manner of chik is this how can u do this to one that shares the same pet name as your specie |
^^^ This futher reinforces my belief that an ability to predict the future accurately positions you for success |

BoboYekini: Viewing this topic: esere826I am in step 6 -reviewing |
BoboYekini: Viewing this topic: esere826na ya head im dey ![]() |
Ishilove: Confess. Who is that e-girl you have fallen in e-love with?ishilove, na u my body convulses when I e-think about you |
Step 6 Review -Watch your 'followed topics' whittle Yep, after fighting the good fight you will soon notice that the updated threads that you are following gets fewer and fewer by the day Now you know you are truelly free free enough to flee from seductresses and temptresses Its time to pick the pieces of your life and reinvigorate your career fill up your now empty moments with seminars, reading HBR and McKinsey quartely stay ahead of the curve The only problem is that now u've already tasted the forbidden fruit you are now a socially charged and changed animal having tasted the excesses of NL You now know that some humans are way ahead of the curve, whilst others are em. ...chewing the chord You've followed the steps, now you are free (or free-er) from the addiction of NL but still connected by an umblical chord to the forum because u dropped some of your best ideas in it |
Ishilove: M good dear.I do O. Make I tok true But I don dey break am now sha |
Step 5 Do not fall e love Try not to fall in elove on the NL thread It is almost as dangerous as the real thing but without the associated physical pleasures It saps you energy thinking about that guy or gurl who only mentally exists Probably wa#k if you have to, but please don't get distracted by emotional inexcusables in the electronic world Imagine a guy chasing after an e-girl for say 2 years, then discovering that the e-girl was actually always a guy Love is capable of distracting you on its own. Why heap on more torment with e-love, e-flowers, e-sex etc Solution -exchange phone numbers and call quickly to ascertaing true s.ex and interests -Muster enough courage to toast your neighbours daughter. Its more healthy - it is not all that e-glitters that is gold. She/he might actually be a hermit leaving in a cage in real life. with drooping boobs or a little pp. You really need to stay focussed on your career. Avoid em |
@ishilove my swearie. how now? |
Step 4 Avoid fights in Nairaland like a plague You know those fights you get into in NL Fights about English language, folks papa and mama being the cause of your opponents genetically shaped stupidity etc Well, they have a way of tieing you down to Nairaland. You might see yourself in the office seething over the last written comment made by your opponent, while mentally crafting the right insults/curse to hurl at him at the place it hurts most You might also see yourself checking the thread regularly for cursing and swearing updates from your opponnent PyschoAnalysing him/her by searching previous posts dating all the way back to 2006 *SMH* You might soon start stalking your opponents around the entire forum threads looking for where you can give him a deadly blow. Smash his head once and for all (Can you just imagine what your life has become on NL!!) Solution -Avoid fights on NL -Quickly curse your opponent with as much passion as possible and unfollow the thread -Do not look back on the thread as Lot's wife did and turned to a pillar of salt -See a doctor. I am serious |
Step 3 Minimise the number of threads you open Yep. it takes a lot of man hours for you to initiate a thread -especially if you actually put some thinking into it (much easier if your thoughts-to-action life-cycle is GiGo -Garbage in, Garbage out) When you intitiate a thread, there is a tendency for you to constantly check on that thread. its almost like your baby. you might see yourself constantly rereading what you and other commentator wrote on the thread. driving off throlls and derailers, refocussing the arguments etc Like Narcissus, you might even see yourself counting towards a targetted number of hits on your thread ![]() All of this ends up taking valuable time. Imagine spending your entire Saturday every week on NL instead of studying for your ACCA. Jeez!!! get a life Solution -minimize the number of threads you initiate -grow out of counting the number of hits (views) on your thread -get a real life, not an e-life |
Step 2 Minimise your comments on thread When you make comments in NL threads, the topic automatically pops up as a 'followed topic' when anyone makes additional comments This pulls you to want to have a view of the latest commentaries/thinking in that thread You might also find that you are curious to know what others might have made of your comments This could mean you'd be reading through loads of comments searching for any reference to you or your posts Solution - subdue your impulse to make comments on many threads - unfollow some silly topics -'why do girls have no P.P's'- that you had previously made comments on - instead of reading through every post looking for reactions to your comments, simply do a 'ctrl F' on your keypad type in a part of your name eg ('eser' instead of 'esere826') or comment and then click to search. Do this on every page, and you would quickly see views on your comments |
Step 1: Ensure that you are not following a crowd If you are following a large number of people on NL, you will always be tempted to read their write ups You could be at the office daydreaming of what Ishilove, physicsqed, Seun, Naptu2, Ajanlekoko and 60 more must have written while you where away It is worse when you are following prolific writer/commentators who make interesting comments on every article that he or she reads on NL When you smile sheepishly while at your desk, everyday at the office, then I guess its time to shake off the NL addiction Solution -If you're following a crowd, the solution might be to gradually 'loose them and let them go' unfollow some of them. one Nairalender at a time ![]() |
Hello everyone, are you addicted to Nairaland? is it ruining your career? are you spending valuable time on Nairaland instead of on other financially rewarding pursuits? Do you want to be free from this addiction? I'll give you tips on how you can rid yourself of this addiction |
umh.... our literal and intellectual giants the future leaders and Special Advisers of 9ja .....politicking like the fabbled tortoise |
zaza1: Nigerian and Ghanaian music is now referred to worldwide as Afrobeats..so whether its hiplife, afrohiphop or afropop..they all fall under Afrobeatswow thankgod i would like to believe that we (west africans) named this genre I hope no be oyibo give us the name? |
Ishilove: God, please rescue me from my NL addictionmy child this type goes not but by fasting and praying |
ishilove |
Naptu2 |
Cuddlemii: You are planning on recruiting machineries , right? No one should recruit terminators and iRobots o The Pentagon has put a stop to the development of war robots |
and for those that consider this thread educative ![]() you see that ladies have a lot of power it all depends on your risk appetite So if for example you've made up your mind that you could sleep with or might get forced by Mr A as a worst case scenario U just might be able to get away with chopping his money, catching his grove and running away without his touching you |
nonsense u'd better add something like getting him to the mountain top o (whether real or imagined) |
@OP umh... another one NL is populated with diversity sha |
@Seun I have only one word for you and some people that dont understand the value of NL: a55holes So untill Forbes and other oyibo media raise ur hand, u no go fit raise ur own hand abi? I guess now u will understand why I was so bitter about your forum not being used instead of Twitter during GEJ's presidential debate https://www.nairaland.com/1107383/seun-reno-wtf-why-twitter We really need to stop waiting for commendation from oyibo, before we start appreciating what we have It is killing our innovation, adoption and adaption of technology a55holes |
^^^ Ok naw HOME VIDEO ENDING ![]() Osa was upset that Izehi had built in some 3 months what he had planned for years He asked izehi to pay him for the information he shared Izehi was upset about this, he suspected that there was something fishy about Osa's request A bitter quarrel between the families of both guys soon ensued Osa got his dad who was the head of service to sack Izehi's dad Now, Izehi goes to church regularly and prays that God should lift his family out of the waters of despair ![]() |
86) A peek inside Izehi's head Izehi used web thinking in his resolve to start the pond. Here is how he thought out the entire scenario: - His dad and mum would be retiring in a couple of years. Why not provide an easy business for them to manage - Digging the fishpond personally was good exercise, Izehi was getting flabby - He would like the leisure of sitting in his beach spot and feed his catfishes with his friends around - The catfish even if not sold could be a source of nourishment to his familly. - He could even groom catfishes for marriage ceremonies that would happen in his family with time thereby saving family members cost - He could give out the fishes for free to big men, who might soon like him and give him contracts - He just might make profit from the fishpond and expand From the list above, you can see that the only way Izehi could have failed was not taking that first step |
85) They did it (*dancing to Dora animation jingle*) Within 2 months of Osa discussing with Izehi about fishponds Izehi had built his fishpond and populated it with catfish fingerlings This inspired Osa who had been procrastinating for ages he started doing the same thing in his dad's house, and just like what happened to Izehi, his dad also contributed to completing it Now, the kids are out of their dads houses their parents are enjoying the sales and chopping of catfish, all thanks to Izehi taking the bull by the horn |
