{I try to check for thr CD intergrity it show me that there is one file error}

See linux has been built to be error free and what causes error is nothing but improperly burnt cd so man DONT use it cause it obviously told you it has error. Contact Brovar he lives there in Lagos he can give u good cd. Cheerio

Firstly Ubuntu cannot overwrite your OS, windows does that with you installing windows after you might have installed ubuntu. What happened is that you made a mistake duiring the partition or you choose not to migrate you windows installation during the cause of installation in fiesty fawn so you cannot blame ubuntu here. You have two option as solution 1. Boot with the ubuntu live CD it will mount your windows partition if its still there then click on place then computer and you are going to see your windows and linux partitions then open the windows partition and save your files to a flashdrive from there. 2. Boot from an XP cd and located your linux partition and delete it (thread with caution not to delete your windows partition) then reboot you should have your windoze back that is if you've not really deleted it in your cause of installing linux. Men its so much fum using ubuntu cos there has never been a thing that I can do with windoze that i cannot do with ubuntu and you know windoes has neva touched my hardrive since about two years and half and there can never be anything beta than my ubuntu. You know what really happen is that you did not specify the kind of OS you use so i can know how best to help u. Linux always have their package managers Like Redhat's RPM, Suse's YAST and (K)Ubuntu's SYNAPTIC/ADEPT which are strongly adviseable because of broken packages which can atime render your system useless but if its some packages that does not have dependencies double clicking on such application will do the trick. If to say U tell me the OS u dey use now i for know where to talk on cos i use ubuntu

Men Jodina i think the guy is right, let me guess you happen to be many of the computer guru guys who thinks they've known the world with windoze and theres nothing there to learn anymore. Men look around you there are many things to learn about computing and if u wanna do that start with LINUX Cheerio

i love ubuntu but i don't like the fact that it seems to always be too windoze pleasing and that is why i wont install it, it encourages laziness , beside u can only get the real linux experience when u use redhat or any destro based on it, but all the same ubuntu is a good start for newbies

This is really untrue because i started with Redhat 9.2 and later used RH 10 you know the problem is people like you complain the cd edition does not come with enough software and redhat or fedora (there's no difference btw the two cos fedora is an extract from redhat) but truely this distros come with software you might neva get to use but the just pack it there anyway. Ubuntu is meant for the desktop and it is well polished and arguing it encourages laziness is baseless cos i use ubuntu and i do most things with CLI and i guess it is challenging and i have installed the FC 5 and i five the inteface boring i wonder the hardwork Niggy might have undergone just to make his desktop polished and spicy. and what kind of linux experience you get with RH and FC that you cannot get with ubuntu man come off it. The true is not far fetched, you are undergoing hell before you virtualise windoze from ur FC box and its something that is as simple as ABC on ubuntu before all this nightmare been fixed fron the days of Dapper Drake so man just try virtualising from ubuntu and see what i mean. There is blender which is an animation software very powerful and it is in ubuntu, u don't need coreldraw you have Gimp in linux which is Adobe photoshop class i.e is better than coreldraw. As for Swish you can port dreamweaver to linux through WINE adewale use is using it. As for drivers linux does require no driver all your hardware came recognised and configured. ï have some probs with my ubuntu have being able to settup everything i need to keep my system running, the only thing i have been unable to sort out now is my wireless, In my vista partition i could send files from my pc to another system connected wireless to me,i can share my internet connection and also tap from another internet connections wirelessly, please is there a way i can do all these on my ubuntu, i currently use verizon wireless evdo card has my default internet connection, hope the use of wireless would not compromise it, i use inter pro/wireless 3945 Network connection driver for linux -which is a restricted driver, please any help would be appreciated,

SUSE is very easy to install all u gotta do is start installing and make sure u use a seperate hardrive or if u prefer to dual boot with windows that is the hardest part for a biginner. U can check out ubuntu cos there is a whole lota gurus in the house if a spare cds if u want and there is guidelines in the ubuntu linux thread of this forum so cheers N.B i use ubuntu myself and have used Suse 9.2 before.

Afo thank for the stuffs, however i forgot to give my guy that SUSE but not to worry you will always collect it whenever u come around this place or i come to village. I have started pimping my desktop and os generally but it a shame i have a bad card i can't use beryl but i use the gnome mac osx theme in the cd but still on it (pimping) changed all the icons. The kbluetooth did not work it require one dependency (liblockdev1) went to kde-bluetooth.sourceforge.net hoping to download the tar file and compiling it but the connection is worst on windows so if u have the file on ur system you can attach it to my mail add and i'll know how to fetch it. Hi guys i use linux and will like to feel the power and the eye candy of mac world. The question is this does anybody have a spare dvd or cds cos i'd love to download myself but i have terribly low connection speed i.e CELTEL and the spec of my system is P4 2.0g 512mb of ddram hit me back

About windows, i will say its when my pc jst hangs because of an unknwn app eatin up my ram. -nd that is normal.

I have neva heard this kind of word b4 an application is hogging ur system resources particularly RAM and u see it as normal this is very wierd

Well sha i have many things bout windoze 1. the blue screen of death 2. lack of backward compartibilty of ms offices 3. its very restrictive and their nanny approach 4. boring 5. unstable 6. have to defrag ur hard drive 7. have 2 run scan disk to find ur lost files etc this are very little things that is annoying in windoze the list is endless.

I use suse linux 9.2 and kubuntu fiesty fawn (7.4) and windoze xp and 2000 for training my students

This is for the guy wey dey shout say ubuntu does not come with Gcc by default u're right but where u are wrong is that its not included in the cd just like Afolabi told u. Its there and have used it before firstly add ur cdrom to ur respository then from the terminal run this 'sudo apt-get install gcc' and e don finish. Cheerio

I hop[e u burn that christmas edition cos my own is no longer working i tried installing it but gave a lot of headache before i use test it for defect and it failed so am still using that Suse and windoze and moreover i have written that suse image to cd so am having a good copy wit me now.
