Probz: Ofe okwuru. Beef's my only obstacle. ok so for any palm oil/tomato based dish, i swap d red oil-tomato for tomato ketchup .. it just adds to that deep red color and is healthier than too much oil what i do is grate my okro with either cheese grater or blender till smooth, then i will boil it till all the water dries in a separate pot put ketchup and a little groundnut oil, now when the groundnut oil sizzle you now add onion, turmeric (gives sweet aroma and flavour), dried or fresh thyme, basil and bay leave on the okro puree, fry fry until the water is dry. then put dry fish and goatmeat and just enough water to cook the orisirisi meet. when that cooks, add crayfish and serve with eba. thas my own style of cooking it, my mum taught me. different but worth a try and very sweet. what do you guys tink? note that what you'll do to the ketchup to melt it before the groudnut mix is pur i in pot, mix with hot water SMALL o, and steam it until it melts. then add the groudnut oil and put okro etc as you would pls someone try it and let me know the results THAT is how you cook okro soup ok, not that nonseing you don post for here foolish man |

Pepper soup
Ingredients-shaki, okpoloko, vinegar, tomato ketchup, crayfish and ogiri okpei, em sugar and paprika, 10 red scotch. Bonneting
boil the shaki and stockfish in vinegar till soft. The trick here be that vinegar is actually sweeter than normal water and you will get the sour taste to combine well with equally sour agidi ok. den add crayfish and okpei wen e don cook finish, let it boil and add sugar, pepe, paprika and two tablespoons of tomato ketchup ok. then when it boils take it off the stove and serve with rice, AGIDI or on its own wit chilled drink ok. Now ketchup na active part of making soup in my part of Nigeria ok |

Culture › Re: How Many Nigerian Languages Are Spoken In Your Family? by ewa26: 1:48am On Jun 17, 2017 |
Probz: I’m from Anambra State but I have maternal links to Igala so my mum’s side of the family speaks a decent range of Nigerian languages. My mum’s grandma was from Nsukka and she married an Idah man and her daughter (my grandma) married an Awka man. She’s bilingual in Igala and general Northern Igbo (Nsukka and Awka dialects). My mum picked up Yoruba in Lagos and she was born in Kogi during the war so she can understand about a third of Igala. Her sister was born in Borno so she’s bilingual in Igbo and Hausa. My paternal side’s monolingual in Igbo. That’s four languages represented in my family – the main three (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) + Igala. Yours?
I've noticed that most people from Awka are a little mixed with Igala and my maternal side's no exception. Not surprising. oh so you want to claim to be Igala because you so ashamed of being onye igbo in apu ala!! well we only speak Ibo in my Ouse ok well when I was living in ogwashi ukwa ok |

scarletpearl: my love for cooking allows me experiment any meal, add or subtract, some people believe fresh fish(frozen) is best vegetable okra soup, well I say variety is the spice of life,I have prepared both, can't decide which is sweeter though.
ingredients for turkey okra soup -okra -turkey -dry fish -cow skin(ponmo) -cray fish -pumpkin leave(ugu) -palm oil -dry grinded pepper (preferably Cameron pepper, nice scent) -seasoning -locust bean (if desired)
method of cooking wash and grate okra using a grater( I use knife and a chopping board or knife only) wash, put turkey and dry fish in a pot add salt, onion, curry thyme,Maggi (grate nut meg if u wish, love the smell) add the dry grinded pepper allow it to cook for about10mins add palm and cover till the turkey is cooked add grinded crayfish and locust beans add cow skin add okra add pumpkin leave allow it to boil for 2 min and its ready.
NB:make sure the quantity of water is not so much, better the soup is thick than to be too watery, you can always add water if its too thick *the hardness of the cow skin determines the time you would add it. if soft, add it late but if hard, add it to turkey immediately *same methods with chicken, beef, fresh fish etc aww lovely work ok |

pazienza: All is obviously set for tomorrow’s grand celebration of this year’s historic traditional New Yam Festival (Ine), in the ancient kingdom of Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha Local government Area of Delta State.
There is also reason to look forward to a peaceful and colourful celebration based on assurances given to that effect by the Obi of Onicha-Ugbo Kingdom, HRM the Obi of Onicha Ugbo, Agbogidi Victor Chukwuma-lieze1 and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachiku, who is also the Odogwu, traditional Defence Minister of the kingdom, respectively. Speaking exclusively in his traditional Ogwa (inner palace), on Tuesday August 30, before the traditional royal procession across the kingdom, to offer prayers to God and the forebears for a peaceful festival, the highly cerebral Obi Chukwumalieze1, who established the historical link between the new yam festival and the emergence of Onicha-Ugbo, said that though the ancestral origin of the founder of the kingdom, Ezechima, is still shrouded in mythical speculations till today, he was generally believed to have migrated from Arochukwu, in present day Eastern region of Nigeria, to the ancient Benin kingdom, where he had found great favour with the then King, Oba Eweka, as a result of his ingenious proficiency, energetic dexterity, excellent craftsmanship and fabled sorcery. pls, explain to me the difference beteeen Igbo and yoruba jellof rice ok, how will mama Nkechi cook ers compared to iya basira |

Culture › Re: Nigerian American Question: Are Igbo's Hated? Why? by ewa26: 7:03pm On Jun 13, 2017 |
bigfrancis21: Most of this is false and chest-beating. Forget that accommodating title you just claimed, it's not as if Igbos were given land or shops or houses free of charge to inhabit. They worked for every single thing they have today. In addition, by being citizens of Nigeria they have the right to live anywhere in Nigeria, that is not accommodation. It is very silly to say that you accommodated a Nigerian citizen. The US is a country of millions of immigrants worldwide but you never hear them claim 'accommodating'. That is very silly and immature to say.
Many times you guys think Igbos were doing nothing while you 'had empires' as if that makes you any better. Go look it up, Igbo ukwu artworks were made/predate all other artworks in southern Nigeria, including Ife and Benin. They are described as being more intrinsic, more detailed and with high level of finesse. Igbo civilization has been discovered to be the oldest in southern Nigeria, preceding Bini and Ife. Evidence suggests ancient Igbos were trading with as far as Egypt and Mali. However, many of you don't know this as you love to go back only 200 years ago when Oyo empire existed, totally forgetting to go back a 1000 years. I have my links/proof but I'll let you run around in circles first before I post them. so instead of to. Ansa my question on Igbo jollof rice you ignore me and post about ancient oyo civilisations Please just answer my question on rice!! |
