Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has described the Igbo apprenticeship model as a good way of building wealth among people. Osinbajo spoke virtually from Abuja to participants of a national summit in Awka, convoked to understudy the model, which is said to have produced several millionaires. Speaking on the model which is popularly known as ‘igba boi’ in Igbo language, Osinbajo harped on the need to encourage the scheme to ensure continuation. “The Igbo apprenticeship scheme ‘igba boi’ has become the most popular indigenous Nigerian economic institution, globally recognized as the world’s largest business incubator. “The scheme has the full potential to do for the Nigerian economy what similar apprenticeship schemes have done in many parts of the world, especially in Germany and India. “I commend the organizers of the event, and I’m hopeful that the summit will improve the growth and possibilities for the Igbo apprenticeship scheme.” While speaking on the theme: Repositioning The Igbo Apprenticeship Scheme For Sustainable Economic Development, the Keynote speaker and Chairman, United Nigeria Airlines, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo recommended that the scheme should be institutionalized. Okonkwo attributed his success in life to the Igbo apprenticeship scheme which he said he engaged in during the early days of his life at Onitsha main market, Onitsha, Anambra State. “I am sure some of you may have been wondering why I was chosen to deliver the keynote at this event. The simple answer is that the apprenticeship scheme and the Onitsha Main Market hold a very special place in my heart as that was where I had my first stint in business. “My father died when I was 14 years old, forcing me to combine my secondary school education with managing the business and his apprentices. That meant I went to school in the morning and continued at the Main Market in the afternoon. That basic trading experience, in many respects, helped hone my business instincts and also instilled in me a deep sense of industry and hard work that has defined my life’s journey to date.” Okonkwo said because of the experience, when the Nnamdi Azikwe University Business School in July 2019 honoured him with the ‘Philanthropist of the Year Award’, it was only natural for him to try to give back by endowing a major research project on the future of Igbo entrepreneurship. The National Summit on Igbo Apprenticeship Scheme was organized by Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) in collaboration with the Awka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines. https://dailypost.ng/2022/03/11/igbo-apprenticeship-model-most-popular-way-to-build-wealth-in-nigeria-vp-osinbajo/ |
In an Instagram live video, Justin Dean confronted his wife, Korra Obidi as their marital crisis deepens. The doctor, who recently announced that he is divorcing his wife because he is tired of the "narcissism, cheating and lack of accountability", went on Instagram Live to talk about his marriage crisis. While livestreaming, he walks into a room where Korra is and confronts her. "Why am I doing what? Repeat it, " Justin says to Korra. Korra, who is in bed, lifts her head and says to Justin: "I was literally naked." Her husband responds: "But you're not now." "I was naked," she repeated. He replied: "But you're not now. Repeat what you said. "Why are you doing this?" Korra asks her husband. Justin continues challenging her to "repeat it" but Korra ignores and lays back down. At this point, their first daughter begins calling her dad and he stops confronting his wife. Korra and Justin welcomed their second child a week ago and all seemed well with the couple until two nights ago, March 9, when Justin suddenly announced on instagram that he is divorcing Korra. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has said ‘some people’ are not encouraging President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to secure Nigeria, revive the economy, and fight insecurity. The President’s spokesperson also accused the Nigerian media of paying less attention to the achievements of Buhari, particularly those bordering on wins against insecurity. Adesina made the allegations in an article titled, ‘The story that didn’t hug the headlines’, and shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday. He noted that rather than showcase Buhari’s achievements on same topic, his traducers prefer to critise him openly and look away when he deserves some credits. Making reference to the Global Terrorism Index 2022 report released last week by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) where Nigeria recorded the second-biggest reduction in deaths in Sub-Saharan Africa, Adesina noted that both the Nigerian media and Buhari’s critic failed to give the achievements deserving coverage and mention respectively. “It is something that should hug the headlines, dominate the talk shows, go viral on social media, and be of interest to social commentators. But not a murmur, nor a whisper, as I said earlier. “As if in a conspiracy of silence, nobody talked about the report. The media didn’t report it, and those that did, superciliously tucked it away in a place where you would need to put on the torchlight before you would see it,” he said. He added, “Now, just imagine that the same report had indicated that there was a spike in Boko Haram killings in Nigeria, with the carnage exceeding that of the previous year by 100 per cent. All hell would have broken loose. It would be lead headline in most publications. “Some television stations would scroll the story in their news bar round the clock, for many days. It would be the topic of discussion on morning and evening discussion programs. We would be almost deafened by the cacophony. So-called security experts and social activists would be invited, and they would be pontificating all day.” Continuing, he wrote, “President Muhammadu Buhari came our way in 2015, promising to secure the country, revive the economy, and fight corruption. “Rather than encourage him, what some people had been engaged in is sticking a pin into the soft underbelly of the various wars. No plaudits. No bravo. No encouragement. He didn’t do this, he didn’t do that, is all they are interested in. “The economy recorded 3.4% growth last year, the best since 2014, no murmur, no whisper. The anti-corruption war has seen convictions in thousands between 2015 and now, yet, what interests some people is how the war is allegedly selective, even without a scintilla of evidence. “And when there are strides in the battle against insecurity, their narrative remains the same. Oh, life is nasty, brutish, and short here. Adesina noted that despite gains being recorded in some critical sectors, “the pessimists have not changed their tongues, nor their minds”. “When you exhibit loud silence about positive developments in your country, and scream blue murder when there are reversals, you are a hypocrite, a hater of your country, and a hater of all that is good. Sad, dolorous, mournful,” he wrote. https://www.tori.ng/news/195991/insecurity-femi-adesina-blows-hot-says-nigerians-n.html |
Pastor Laurie Idahosa has told men that they may be one of the reasons why their wives no longer look as good as they did before marriage. She shared a photo showing a woman looking well cared for before marriage and slightly stressed as a wife. It also included a response given by a man explaining why this may be so. The response reads: "Yeah because first is how her parents treat her and second one how you treat her." Laurie reacted, writing: "This response is everything! Too often, we blame the woman for the decline in her self image, poise, confidence, etc… Everything stems from somewhere. So, if your wife is a shadow of her former self, consider her stressors. You may be one of them." https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/622b18f9273d7.jpg https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/622b18de97fb7.jpg https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2022/3/if-your-wife-is-a-shadow-of-her-former-self-you-may-be-one-of-her-stressors-pastor-laurie-idahosa-tells-husbands.html |

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, today March 8, sacked Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, following their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC. The judge held that the total number of 393, 042 votes governor Umahi polled during the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Ebonyi state, belonged to the PDP and cannot be legally transferred to the APC. According to the court, having defected to the APC, both Umahi and his deputy, not only jettisoned the PDP but also the votes that belonged to it. The court ruled that going by the outcome of the governorship election, the office of the governor and deputy governor in Ebonyi state, “belong to the Plaintiff and no other political party”. “There is no constitutional provision that made the ballot transferrable from one party to the other”. It held that the PDP is bound to retain the votes and mandate that was given to it by electorates in Ebonyi state, as both governor Umahi and his Deputy could not validly transfer same to APC. The court, therefore, ordered both Umahi and Igwe to immediately vacate their positions and that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should immediately receive from the PDP, names of persons to replace Umahi and his Deputy, or in the alternative, conduct a fresh gubernatorial election in Ebonyi state in line with section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The court further restrained both Umahi and Igwe from further parading themselves as governor or deputy governor of Ebonyi state. The judgement followed a suit the PDP lodged before the court. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/03/breaking-court-sacks-gov-umahi-deputy-over-defection-to-apc/ |
