Igbo Miscreants Kidnapping, Killing Innocent Igbo, Taking Advantage Of Fulani Herdsmen Atrocities – Ohaneze Ndigbo Useful confessions have been made. As we speak 1,700 forest guards are being recruited. New access roads are being constructed into desolate and hidden areas of our forests. Chief Nnia Nwodo, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, says some Igbo are taking advantage of the attack of herdsmen in the region to kidnap and murder innocent igbo. He also lamented how local traditional rulers and vigilantes are abetting the killers in the region. In a statement on Saturday, Nwodo claimed that southern Nigeria has witnessed very unusual security breaches. “Assassinations, kidnapping and invasion of one or two holy places have been reported in the social and regular media,” he added. He, however, praised the actions of security personnel in the region while calling on traditional rulers to complement the efforts to keep southern Nigeria secured by handing over killers and kidnappers in their communities to relevant authorities. He said, “Worthy of note is the arrest of those responsible for the murder of two Catholic priests and the kidnap of a Traditional ruler. Useful confessions have been made. As we speak 1,700 forest guards are being recruited. New access roads are being constructed into desolate and hidden areas of our forests. “Ohaneze also notes that a few miscreants among us have exploited the Fulani rampage to engage in kidnapping and murder of innocent citizens. “We urge our traditional rulers, town unions an local vigilantes to fish them out and hand them over to law enforcement agencies.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/08/18/igbo-miscreants-kidnapping-killing-innocent-igbo-taking-advantage-fulani-herdsmen |

‘EL-ZAKZAKY’S ROLE IN THE FRACAS’ El-Zakzaky, who was the secretary-general of the MSS in 1977/78 session, was quoted as telling the committee “he was a party to the peaceful demonstration and not the violent one”. Asked where he was the night the fracas occurred, El-Zakzaky reportedly said he came back from town at about 5pm, left his room at about 9:15pm for the central mosque “for the usual Saturday discussion” (and) was back about 11pm where he met Sheriff Abuna, Abdullahi and Usman. “He continued that when he was woken up at night, himself, Sheriff, Abdullahi and another person all rushed out. An alarm was rasied and Abdullahi was arrested and taken to the security office. He admitted that he followed him to the security office and was back to his room at about 3am,” the report read. The report added that after his interrogation, Abdullahi, who also served as the committee chairman, said he believed “the attack had originated from Ibrahim’s room as most of the people identified with the incident came from his room.” “Other members of the committee the same views and believed that Ibrahim was one of the brains behind the trouble,” it added. |

Adelani Adepegba, Abuja Investigations into the killings of the Police Intelligence Response Team operatives by soldiers of 93 Battalion, Takum, Taraba State, on August 6, 2019, have unearthed shocking criminal collaboration between the fleeing kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala, ( aka Wadume), and some senior police officers at the Ibi Police Division. Wadume, who allegedly masterminded many kidnappings, was being taken to the Taraba State Police Command in Jalingo by the Police IRT team when they came under attack from soldiers believed to be loyal to the kidnap kingpin. Three officers – Inspector Mark Ediale, Sergeants Usman Danzumi, Dahiru Musa – and an IRT informant, Olajide Owolabi, died as a result of gunshot injuries, while others sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. But latest findings by detectives showed that the Divisional Crime Officer at the Ibi Divisional Police station had over 200 phone calls with Wadume, Saturday PUNCH findings revealed. The shocking discovery was made following the arrest of the DCO on the orders of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Michael Ogbizi. Ogbizi had visited the scene of the incident and also gone to the police station where he interacted with the personnel on the ground. He was said to have requested to see the incident book where entries were made but the DIG was shocked to find that certain pages had been torn off. Top police sources said the DIG further scrutinised the entries, only to discover that the entry indicating that the IRT team was in the jurisdiction for the arrest of Wadume was missing. The removal of the entry was believed to be a ploy to give the impression that the IRT team did not follow laid down procedures. A source said, “On discovering that the documentation of the IRT team was not reflected in the incident book, the DIG promptly ordered the arrest of the DCO and the Station Officer who were taken to the Force Criminal Investigation Department cell in Abuja. “A forensic analysis of the call logs of the DCO showed that he had made over 200 calls to Wadume over a few days. The startling revelations made the police leadership to wake up to the fact that the soldiers alone were not culpable or responsible for the killing of the IRT team. “There seems to be a deeply entrenched criminal network and deep operational collaboration between the kidnap gangs in the area, the police at Ibi Division and some soldiers of the 93 Battalion, Takum, which would require a very comprehensive and painstaking investigation to unearth and dismantle.” Further findings by the police detectives also indicated that many policemen and soldiers might be on the payroll of Wadume, including an army captain who allegedly issued the order for the attack on the IRT personnel leading to the eventual rescue and escape of the kidnap kingpin. Powered by Rubi Saturday PUNCH gathered that the police investigators were working to establish the financial connections between Wadume, the soldiers and the policemen involved in the killings. Following the discovery of the roles played by the senior police officers in the incident, the force had kept mum, refusing to disclose any information remotely connected to the ongoing investigation. The police spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, failed to respond to inquiries on the probe on Friday. Calls to his phone rang out and he had yet to respond to an SMS inquiring about the detention of the senior police officers as of the time of filing this report on Friday. Aside from the ongoing police investigation, a joint investigation panel, headed by Rear Admiral IT Olaiya, a former Director of Naval Intelligence, had been constituted by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, to probe the incident. This followed a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari asking the military to investigate the killings. The panel also has as members a representative each from the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and the Defence Intelligence Agency. The acting Director, Defence Information, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, who announced this last week explained that the seven-man panel would unravel the circumstances that led to the incident between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police resulting in the killing of three police operatives and a civilian along the Ibi-Wukari road in Taraba State. https://punchng.com/revealed-wadume-police-officer-exchanged-200-calls-before-taraba-cops-killings/?fbclid=IwAR3UtnXpyaJPl_tvHdqif0XUdre_tUa_n4mjXqDCbLy2zxZW-fA5bSY1_WY |

A British court has ordered an Irish firm, Process and Industrial Developments Ltd (P&ID) to seize 20 per cent in assets, of Nigeria’s foreign reserves, amounting to $9bn (£7.4bn). Justice Butcher of the British Commercial Court gave the ruling on Friday. The ruling will likely raise concerns among foreign investors. The case dates back to 2010, when Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was Nigeria’s president. The Nigerian government, under Dr. Jonathan, had struck a deal with the Irish firm to supply gas to a processing plant built and run by P&ID in Calabar. The agreement was for a 20-year deal. But the Nigerian government failed to keep to her own side of the agreement, prompting the firm to take the case to court. Meanwhile, in 2013, P&ID won a $6.6bn arbitration case against Nigeria. The figure was calculated based on what the company was estimated to have earned over the course of the 20-year agreement. But in today’s ruling, the firm said the amount had risen to $9bn following interest accrued so far, reports City A.M. Today’s decision means that the arbitration is converted into a legal judgement, allowing P&ID to attempt a seizure of the assets. Andrew Stafford QC, P&ID’s lawyer said: “We are pleased that the Court has rejected Nigeria’s objections both to the arbitration process and to the amount of the award, and that it will grant permission to P&ID to begin enforcement of the award in the United Kingdom.” He added: “P&ID is committed to vigorously enforcing its rights, and we intend to begin the process of seizing Nigerian assets in order to satisfy this award as soon as possible.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/08/breaking-british-court-orders-irish-firm-to-seize-9b-nigerias-foreign-reserves/?fbclid=IwAR18uneLEPQwQZh2ennKiKuz4dpfkaPrKLzbhh5NhofEAe-LrNosRHG23Ks |

Nigerians spend more time on social media than citizens of most countries, according to a survey conducted by Global Web Index, a market research company. In the survey, 575,000 internet users aged 16-64 were interviewed across 46 markets. The social media networks considered in the survey include Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Skype, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, among others. The findings revealed that Nigerians spend an average of three hours 30 minutes on social media, coming second after citizens of the Philippines who spend an average of four hours one minute per day. Nigeria is followed by Mexico whose citizens spend three hours 10 minutes, then Turkey with an average of three hours five minutes. The high level of social media engagements in these countries could be as a result of the youthful population and the younger demographics of the markets. In Nigeria, the unemployment rate might have also contributed to the high social media engagement, as Nigerians have sought ways to monetise activities on social media. Lots of trading activities, such as sales of clothes, shoes, and other items are being carried out on social media. Services such as social media influencing, media commentating, comedy, dance, among others are also being promoted through social media. There are also people who make money through sharing contents for brands, politicians and companies. Meanwhile, citizens of Russia, India, and China spend over two hours on social media networks daily, while citizens of the US, UK, Spain, France, and Germany spend over an hour, according to the report. Japan citizens spend 45 minutes, which is as a result of the low birth rate in the country. Japan has the highest proportion of older people – or those aged 65 and over – in the world, followed by Italy, Portugal and Germany. The survey also showed that social media use shrunk in the first quarter of 2019 when compared with 2018 figures. https://www.thecable.ng/survey-nigerians-spend-more-time-on-social-media-than-americans-indians dragnet honsule puskin

The Federal Government is considering repossession of 10 electricity distribution firms as one of the options to rescue the nation’s beleaguered electricity industry. This is coming ahead of the scheduled final performance review of the private firms that bought into the distribution companies carved out from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria. However, document available to one of our correspondents shows that the Federal Government would require up to $2.4bn (N736bn) to repossess the privatised distribution assets from the core investors if it finally takes the decision. Giving clue that it could recover the assets from the core investors, the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in a document sighted by one of our correspondents has described the co-owners of the distribution companies as ‘failed investors.’ The distribution and generation companies carved out of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria were handed over to private investors on November 1, 2013, following the privatisation of the power sector by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, which is responsible for electricity transmission, is still fully owned and operated by the government. The PUNCH had on Friday reported that 17 of the nation’s 27 power stations had been forced to shut down some of their units on the back of low demand by Discos, worsening the blackout being experienced by millions of customers across the country. 11 Discos declared technically insolvent Total power generation dropped to 3,264.4 megawatts as of 6am on Monday, August 12 from 3,580.5MW on Sunday. It stood at 2,842.1MW as of 6am last Thursday. Five and a half years after privatisation, the 11 Discos have been described as ‘technically insolvent.’ Read More Here https://punchng.com/fgll-pay-failed-investors-n736bn-to-repossess-discos/ |

Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), says the situation in India is worse than he experienced in Nigeria. In an audio message released on Wednesday, El-Zakzaky described the situation as “worse than a prison setting”. The IMN leader and his wife left Nigeria for the Asian country on Monday based on a leave granted by a Kaduna high court. In the audio, El-Zakzaky lamented the security situation in the hospital, describing it as “pathetic and worrisome”. “The hospital officials received us well they told us that they parked two ambulance vehicles, deceiving the crowd while taking us out through another way, saying that it was for our own safety,” he said. “On getting to the hospital, we were placed under a tighter security situation worse than what we have been witnessed in Nigeria. We are currently more confined than when we were in Nigeria, worse than a prison setting.” Abdullahi Musa, secretary of academic forum of IMN, confirm the authenticity of the audio to TheCable. Musa said it is true, adding that El-Zakzaky may return to Nigeria over a change in the medical arrangement with doctors in India. “The audio is true. The federal government has connived with the Indian government to scuttle the treatment. They brought a new set of doctors instead of the ones the Sheikh (El-Zakzaky) made prior arrangements with,” he said. “So the Sheikh smelled a rat and refused to submit himself to the doctors to treat him. He asked them why they prevented him from seeing the doctors he had earlier made arrangements with? So he said he will not allow them to treat him.” Musa said the group is making efforts to sort out the problem. The group had earlier accused the federal government of frustrating the medical treatment of El-Zakzaky in India. https://www.thecable.ng/the-situation-in-india-is-pathetic-el-zakzaky-raises-the-alarm

South Africa’s self-acclaimed Pope, Tsietsi Makiti has defended his colleague Prophet Sonny Rakgorwana who was spotted in viral photos giving congregants beer during a Special Holy Communion Service. The founder of Gabola Church which celebrates alcohol and hold services at drink joints, stated that it’s okay for congregants to be given alcohol to get them ready to accept God. “I see no harm in the Pastor’s practice. He has my blessing. In Gabola there is Godliness. Let us all drink and praise the Lord. “My church practises this every day. This allows people who are discriminated against by other churches to find a home while doing what they love best. “It’s a good practice, but it must be in good spirit. People mustn’t be forced to drink. We must meet with the prophet so that we can advance this mission. In God there’s liquor, Amstel, Amen!” he said. However on his own part, Prophet Sonny Rakgorwana who was spotted serving congregants Savannah and Brutal Fruit ciders, said it was part of church members’ deliverance. “This is the body of Christ and it has become our lifestyle,” he said as he served them beer. “The moment you eat this the right way you become a spirited person. You’re in the spirit and the flowing part goes from one to another.” https://www.tori.ng/news/128283/pastor-defends-colleague-who-gave-congregants-beer.html lalasticlala

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, in his contribution to comedian Maraji’s post of Jesus being the only way to heaven, stated that Jesus is not God. According to Reno, Jesus is not God but only came to show us the way to God. He wrote: Let me shock you. Yeshua came to show us the Way to God because He, Yeshua, is the ONLY Way to God. He is the everlasting Melchizedek High Priest. The Mediator between God and man. But He is NOT the Almighty God. That is a European concept. Yeshua never claimed to be God. Many Christians read John 1:1 in The Bible (not the Scriptures) and use that to claim that Yeshua is God. I will urge you to get the original Greek Scriptures (see the attached picture) and even if you can’t read Greek, just study that verse. This is the verse in pure Greek (?ν ?ρχ? ?ν ? λ? γος, κα? ? λ?γος ?ν πρ?ς τ?ν θε?ν, κα? θε?ς ?ν ? λ? γος). Here is the verse in Latin, which may be easier for laymen (In principio erat Verbum, et Verbum erat apud Deum, et Deus erat Verbum). Notice the words DEUM and DEUS are used to describe the first and second mention of God. Although you may not be able to read the Greek, what John 1:1 says when translated without changing the words used for God is this “in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with Theon and the Word was Theos”. The original Scriptures did not use the same word for the first mention of God and the second mention. The word used in the first mention is THEON (which refers to the Almighty. The word in the second mention is THEOS which is what is used to refer to Yeshua. This is why Scripture says “my people perish for lack of knowledge” - Hosea 4:6. #YeshuaNotJesus https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/08/13/jesus-is-not-god-bible-is-different-from-scriptures-reno-omokri/ |
We live in a world, where a woman skin and her body shape define her beauty and Fate. A world where you’re being judged by how you look, your skin color and body curves. A world where beauty and body become a criteria for women to obtain a good job, a criteria to attract people, get likes on social media and be respected. It was said by Newsweek columnist, Jessica Bennett” In this economy, looking good isn’t just vanity, it’s economic survival” then it’s. Isn’t surprising and only natural that women try to obtain that criteria and fit into that world for economic survival. However what’s shocking is what most women do to fit into that world and its injurious effects. Women resort to different methods and ways to look good and fit perfectly into the ideal world of pretty women with charming body curves. Due to the pressure on women on the need to look good and the requirements of our contemporary society for a beautiful woman, many women have subjected themselves to dangerous procedures, barbaric and expensive means just to obtain and maintain the so called right body and face. Most women go through series of heart wrenching pains to get their pretty looks and the most shocking is the adverse effects that come with it or follow suit. Face is one of those parts that the world believes, makes a beautiful woman and that’s why women go extra length to make their face beautiful either by bleaching, surgery, make-up, piercing of the ears, eyes, nose and lips among others. Waist trainers, padded bra, padded hips, and body enhancer cream women use are even more harmful and injurious to health. Waist trainers which are tight fitting corsets worn for a specific period of time to purportedly reshape your midsection by force is harmful enough that it can take away your breath. It can deprive your body of oxygen, reducing lung capacity by an estimated 30-60% as the same goes to padded Bra. Waist trainer, padded Bra and tight fitting clothes, worn ladies, casually, are capable of damaging vital organ like lung, stomach, liver and kidney when they are pushed into unnatural position where they are too crowded to function well. There’s also the risk of cancer such as breast cancer, skin cancer and ovarian cancer due to the padded Bra, body enhancer cream and pads that we wear and use casually. Now, the question is: Does the beauty really worth all these pains? Do you really have to fit into the world idea of a pretty woman at the expense of your life?, I mean even if you want to, there are safer ways to do it by using natural remedies, eating right and staying happy instead of resorting to methods that could cost you your life and health. It’s a shame that pressure is place on feminists on the need to look good so as to be respected and attracted to in the society. We need to reduce our constant expectations that a woman needs to look her best at all time. The pressure on the need for a woman to look beautiful and acceptable is much and it has been killing the confidence of many aspiring females. We need to stop judging based on looks. We need to look more into ability and creativity. We need to take note of these hidden pearls covered in dust. And to the women, I believe we’re strong enough to accept ourself for who we are. Be proud of who you are. You don’t have to give up your health, life and freedom in order to fit into the world’s idea of a good looking woman. Yes! It’s nice to look good, but do it in a safe way. Facial beauty attracts people but not for long. Nobody cares about a pretty corpse. If you’re so worried about how your lover will look at you, how the world will look at you, then what happens when the beauty fades? Remember the great beautiful Zuliah in the story of Yusuf (Joseph), Be confident of how you look. Women deserve to be happy, Yes, We deserve that!!! ABUJA—The chairman, Board of Trustees, BOT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Walid Jibrin, has urged Nigerians to embrace the establishment of Rural Grazing Areas, RUGA, programme of the Federal Government. herdsmen Jibrin told journalists at his Nasarawa country home in Nasarawa State yesterday that the proposed settlement policy for herdsmen would promote peace and security in the country. He also explained that the programme would boost food security and improve the health and standard of living in rural communities. Jibrin, who is also the Sarkin (leader) of Fulani in Nasarawa State, commended the federal government for introducing the RUGA programme in the country, considering its importance. “I am not in APC, I am a PDP chieftain. But when we talk of development and security, we should leave anything about politics, religion and tribe. “Whoever is ruling in Nigeria, if he brings any programme that will do away with insecurity, killings and take care of the welfare of the people, I will go by that. My politics is not do-or-die and I play politics without bitterness. READ ALSO: We’re Happy To Celebrate Sallah At Home For First Time In 5 Years, Says Shehu Of Bama “That is why we, Fulani, commend the Federal Government for introducing the RUGA project in the country. “I and our tribe (Fulani) had embraced the programme. RUGA project includes the provision of hospitals, schools, water supply and electricity, among other facilities, which will have direct bearing on the lives of the herders. “Apart from that, it will also tackle incessant farmers/herdsmen conflicts as well as boost food security in the country,” he said. Calling on Igbo and Yoruba ethnic groups to embrace the programme in the interest of national development, the PDP BOT chairman said: “About 12 states in the North have already embraced it and have started the project, including Nasarawa State. “So, I am calling on southerners, the Igbos, the Yorubas, among others, to embrace it, even though the project is not compulsory. “The project will keep the herdsmen one, safe and will improve on their welfare as some states in the South East have already promised to donate land for the project.’’ He called on all herdsmen and other Nigerians to shun armed robbery, kidnapping and other negative tendencies in the interest of peace and development. Jibrin also urged Nigerians to live peacefully, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations, for development of the nation. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/08/embrace-ruga-pdp-bot-chairman-tells-nigerians/ |

President Muhammadu Buhari says the greatest challenge to Islam is violent extremism. The president, who said this in his Eid-El-Kabir message, regretted that activities of religious extremists were negatively affecting the image of Islam. He challenged Muslims to distance themselves from those preaching violence in the society, emphasisng on the importance of putting the virtues of the religion into practice and making justice and righteousness their guiding principles. “We should be the mirror through which others see the virtues of our faith. Islam is a religion of peace and we should avoid violent extremist ideas that give Islam a wrong name because our conducts will leave more lasting positive impressions than what we say by word of mouth,” he said in a statement issued by Garba Shehu, his senior special assistant on media and publicity. “Violent extremism is the greatest challenge facing Islam today and the only way we can neutralise its evil influence is to distance ourselves from the activities and teachings of those who preach indiscriminate violence against innocent people. “This flies in the face of the teachings of Islam.” He advised parents to protect their children from the deadly exposure to violent extremists who, he said, manipulated and exploited children for their own evil agenda. “Boko Haram became a deadly force and major security scourge because Muslim societies were indifferent from the beginning to the activities of extremist preachers, who manipulate their innocent and gullible followers,” he said. “Extremism is like cancer which must be detected and destroyed from its early stages of growth.” He, however, assured Nigerians that Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping and other forms of banditry would be dealt with “uncompromisingly until we see the back of these evils plaguing our country”. https://www.thecable.ng/buhari-islams-greatest-challenge-is-violent-extremism |
