Pamela Odame partook in the 'bottle cap challenge' and though it came late, she however came through on the challenge with her signature 'big boobs' instead of a kick. While a friend held a bottle of popular alcoholic beverage Kpookeke in the video, the Ghanaian-Kenyan socialite and model ran through in slow motion effect and ended up removing the bottle cap with her boobs. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested two persons close to Nigerian opposition leader, Atiku Abubakar. Uyi Giwa Osagie, a longtime legal adviser to Mr Abuakar, and Abdullahi Babalele, the former vice-president’s son in-law, were taken into custody on Thursday evening, according to multiple sources familiar with the development. They were arrested after honouring an EFCC invitation in Lagos, sources said. A spokesperson for the EFCC, Tony Orilade, told PREMIUM TIMES he needed additional time to give official comments about the arrest. But PREMIUM TIMES learnt the commission was set to arraign Mr Giwa-Osagie for alleged money laundering. (d) of the Money Laundering(Prohibition) Act, 2011 (As Amended) and Punishable under section 16 of the Same Act. It came about five months after Messrs Babalele and Giwa-Osagie were detained for several days while being questioned in a multi-million dollar money laundering probe. He was reportedly arrested after a bureau de change operative allegedly identified him as the owner of $2 million found in its possession. The commission alleged the money was to be used for the 2019 elections. The duo denied the allegations, and critics saw the probe as politically-motivated, especially as it came during the hotly-contested presidential election. Mr Abubakar had also condemned the investigation as an attempt to intimidate him at the time. But the anti-graft office rejected insinuations of political influence over its activities. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/345853-just-in-again-efcc-arrests-atikus-lawyer-son-in-law.html?fbclid=IwAR35RYFGWf03UuXUS6a_0vQO1Xlp5oJEAmr4mQvNbghOFRb8hfCsSQw5Q4M |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Iwu before the court on four count charges bothering on N1.23 billion fraud. The anti-graft agency is accusing the former INEC chairman of playing a part in the concealing of the N1.23 billion public funds between December 2014 and March 2015. The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has warned states that there will be more flooding expected during the rainy season. The warning was directed to 15 states namely Niger, Lagos, Edo, Imo, Abia, Jigawa, Adamawa, Delta, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Oyo, Enugu, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Bauchi and the Federal Capital territory. Speaking during a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, Director- General of the agency, Engr. Clement Nze said there is high probability that more states would still be affected by both river flooding and urban flooding. He said this was because flood from the upper reaches of the Niger Basin which are Guinea, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivorie, Benin, Chad and Cameroon would be arriving Nigeria in about a month’s time. Nze noted that the agency has been closely monitoring the many flooding incidents taking place across the country as it has caused the loss of lives and properties hence it was unfortunate that the flooding incidents were manifesting just as predicted by NIHSA. He lamented that the relevant stakeholders, individuals and state governments have failed to heed the warnings issued before the of flooding in the country. He aid the agency was concerned about the non-adherence to flooding predictions for 2019, thereby resulting in avoidable flooding incidents that has affected the economy negatively. Nze called for the need to put more drainage systems, avoid building houses in areas that will block the flow of water and provision of dams to control flood to comes into the country when other neighbouring country releases their dams. He said the flood might translate to disaster if there are no facilities to manage it. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/flood-fg-puts-states-fct-on-red-alert.html |

Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, says the days of revolutions and coups are over . Reacting to the planned “Revolution Now” that led to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, an activist, Shehu said there is a difference between “peaceful protest and incitement to revolution”. He said the organisation championing the planned protest is not backed by any” serious public face”, challenging them to make their identity known so that Nigerians can know who the beneficiaries of the action may be. He said President Muhammadu Buhari won the election “resoundingly”, adding that the “ballot box is the only constitutional means of changing government”. “Following calls circulating on social and digital media, an organisation that calls itself the ‘Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria’ plans a ‘revolution’ march tomorrow, Monday 5th August, with the aim of bringing ‘regime change’ in Nigeria without recourse to a nationwide vote, ” the statement read. “The President of Nigeria and his administration respect and uphold the right of every Nigerian to peaceful protest and civil campaign– whether to raise awareness on issues, and even oppose the government. The organisation championing this planned action is not fronted by any serious public faces. “We call on the sponsors and organisers to have the decency to come forward and make their identity known – out of respect to all Nigerians – so that Nigerians can be fully aware in whose name this ‘revolution’ is being proposed and who the beneficiaries may be. “Less than six months ago, Nigeria held simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. Both contests were won resoundingly by President Muhammadu Buhari and his All-Progressives Congress party. The campaign was observed, and results were confirmed by international election monitoring groups and observers. The result was even contested by the losing presidential candidate and his party in court. “The ballot box is the only constitutional means of changing government and a president in Nigeria. The days of coups and revolutions are over.” He asked those “who use and hide behind citizens to attain power through undemocratic and violent means, which has been alluded, to come out clearly and be identified.” “Those making the ‘revolution’ call hide behind the veil of social media modernity. But without revealing the identity of their sponsors this shadowy campaign is no better, and no more democratic, than the days of old,” he said. “They should lead their march in person. Only then will they begin to have the right to call themselves leaders before the people of Nigeria.” https://www.thecable.ng/presidency-days-of-coups-and-revolutions-are-over |
An Anambra State-based pastor, Ejike Nwachukwu, has rejected N4m and a Sports Utility Vehicle offered him by two suspected Internet fraudsters in exchange for prayers. Southern City News gathered that the suspected fraudsters had met him in his office to pray for the success of a deal they were to engage in. When the pastor, a lawyer, studied them, he had to ask them of their source of income. Narrating the experience to our correspondent on Sunday, the cleric said, “Two young men came to my office the other day with N2m cash. “They said it was seed offering and that they had a business they were looking forward to God to bless soon and that the money was seed offering. “I looked at the two young boys with N2m. I tasked them what business they were expecting and they said it was a deal and that they would bring more money to me once the deal paid off. They promised to buy me a SUV. “I prayed and the Lord revealed to me that it was Internet fraud and I told them so and they confirmed it was true. “I walked them out of my office, but one returned with an extra N2m in the hope that if the money was much, I would accept it, but I sent them out.” Nwachukwu described those, who indulged in Internet fraud as worse than armed robbers. He advised pastors not to pray for or accept offerings from such people. He condemned what he called the growing trend of youths going into Internet fraud in order to make quick money. Nwachukwu added, “This is just as there is a growing trend of fraudsters visiting pastors for prayers in order for them to succeed in their plots. “If you are a Yahoo! boy, you are a thief, and there is no difference between you and an armed robber.” https://punchng.com/anambra-pastor-rejects-n4m-suv-from-suspected-fraudsters/ |

Doctors have removed coins and jewellery worth an incredible £53,000 (N 23,850,000) from a woman's stomach. Runi Khatun, 22, was rushed to hospital 'weak and emaciated' on July 16 after she had started to vomit following every meal. Baffled doctors in West Bengal, India, discovered the young woman had a hoard of items inside here after a scan - including 69 chains, 80 earrings, 46 coins, eight lockets, 11 nose rings, five anklets and one watch dial. According to Runi's mother, gold items and ornaments had recently started to vanish from the family home. The mum said she had no idea her daughter had been swallowing the items. She also said the coins consumed were likely to have come from her brother's shop. She said when Khatun was confronted about the missing items, she would cry - but never revealed they had been swallowed. Her family said: "We noticed that the ornaments were disappearing. But whenever we questioned her, she started crying and revealed nothing." The woman's mother added: "Despite keeping an eye on her, she somehow managed to swallow all these objects. She was not well for the past two months. "Before admitting her at the Rampurhat Government Hospital, we had taken her to various private doctors and she was on medication without any result." Medics said most of the items were made of copper and brass. Dr. Siddhartha Biswas, head of the surgery department at the Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital, said the patient was 'emancipated' and could not eat food. He said: "The patient looked weak and emaciated at the time when she was admitted to the hospital. "Her albumin and haemoglobin count were so low that we could not perform an operation soon. "Her condition was so critical that she required at least five bottles of blood. "She could not even intake food physically so we had to administer Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) to artificially inject food through her mouth." The operation to remove the items lasted around an hour and 15 minutes. After 1.6kg mass of metal was removed from her stomach, doctors separated each item before laying them on a table to reveal the shocking amount she had swallowed. Medics said her condition is now stable. https://www.tori.ng/news/127197/doctors-remove-hundreds-of-coins-and-jewellery-wor.html
