The vlogger filmed himself eating bugs and geckos aspart of a sick challenge A Chinese vlogger died during a sick live-stream showing him eating poisonous bugs and geckos alive, according to local media. Named only by his surname Sun, the 35-year-old's body was reportedly found by his horrified girlfriend at his flat in the eastern city of Hefei. He was a popular figure on DouYu - a Chinese state-approved equivalent of YouTube, which is banned by communist party mandarins. According to Xinan Evening News, Sun had filmed himself guzzling alcohol and eating animals as part of a stomach-churning challenge. Sun's challenge involved him spinning a wheel marked with items - and he'd have to consume whatever it landed on. Among the creatures he ate were poisonous centipedes, geckos and mealworms, MailOnline reports. DOWNED VINEGAR AND BOOZE He also downed vinegar, beer and a local liquor called baijiu in the warped video filmed for his 15,000 followers last Thursday. A wheel is marked with items including centipedes, vinegar and beer that he has to consume Sun collapsed while the stream was still being broadcast - and cops later discovered his camera was still running when his body was found. A formal cause of death is yet to be established but authorities have ruled out foul play. Sun's videos have since been removed from the DouYu site. BIZARRE FAD Live-streaming has become hugely popular in China - where there are as many as 435million users, according to a report by China National Radio. Some streamers have become millionaires off the back of their online fame - simply from filming themselves going about their days or singing, dancing and eating. But the drive to set themselves apart from the crowd has encouraged some vloggers to attempt dangerous - and sometimes fatal - stunts. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9570372/chinese-vlogger-dies-bugs-livestream/

The mystery surrounding the missing ear of a baby at the Victory Children’s Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State, has been linked to canivorous rats. A police report released on Sunday, cleared the hospital, its management and workers from blame over the 2015 incident which left the deceased baby's family thinking it was for a ritual purpose. “This deals with a case of an alleged mutilation of a newborn baby girl’s ear reported to the Inspector-General of Police by Mr Solomon Igwe against Dr. Oliver Umeh, the owner, and staff of the Victory Children’s Hospital, Onitsha. “On July 30, 2015, around 7.30am Solomon Igwe, upon unwrapping the corpse, discovered that the right ear of the baby had been severed from the body. “He reported to the Central Police Station, Onitsha, where he accused Dr Oliver Umeh as being responsible for the missing ear. “While the investigation was ongoing, Dr Oliver Nnamdi felt dissatisfied with the police arrest and detention , and from one level of investigation to another as he was neither at the hospital during the admission/treatment and the death of the said baby hence, he petitioned the Inspector-General of Police. “The said petition was subsequently forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Homicide Section, for harmonisation and consolidation," the police report read in part. It added “While investigation was ongoing, the parents made a demand for the sum of N10m for Dr Oliver Umeh to be vindicated, but he sensed a foul play and an attempt to extort and blackmail him using the then investigating team. “Consequently, he wrote a counter petition to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, urging the transfer of the case to Abuja for an unbiased investigation. “In the course of the investigation, statements of parties to the case were recorded and the scene of crime was visited. Detectives also viewed the corpse of the deceased baby. “An autopsy was conducted on the remains of the deceased baby, but the parents contested the outcome. “This occasioned the parents of the deceased baby to arrange for another pathologist, who conducted a second autopsy. “In the course of investigation, it was established that Mr Solomon Igwe and his wife, Bridget, brought their five-day-old baby girl to the Victory Children’s Hospital, Onitsha, as a referral case from St. Mary’s Hospital, Okpoko Onitsha. “It was also revealed that 45 minutes after their arrival, the baby died in the presence of the parents while on admission, but the parents could not collect the corpse on that fateful day, but on arrival for the collection of the corpse the following day for burial, it was discovered that the deceased’s right ear had been severed; they alerted Dr Amadi Ifeanyi of the development and subsequently reported to the police. Years after the police arrested some staff of the hospital, it was uncovered that rats actually ate the baby’s ear following results from the first and second post-mortem examinations conducted on the insistence of the father of the deceased baby. “Consequently, this evidently resolved the contention as to the cause of death and the severed ear. “There is nothing of evidential value linking Dr Oliver Umeh to the alleged crime in the course of investigation as no enough evidence abound on the allegation linking Dr. Oliver Umeh to any crime.” https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2019/7/rats-ate-dead-babys-ear-at-anambra-hospital-police.html |

ABUJA—THE Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, yesterday, wielded its sledged hammer on two teachers for molesting some female students at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, School for the Blind, Jabi. Permanent Secretary, Christian Ohaa, who made an unscheduled visit to the school yesterday, following reports of molestations of some female students by teachers, said the action would serve as a deterrent to others, who may wish to molest blind female students in future. The teachers, Mr. Ebenezer Olateju and Mr. Ilo Chukwuma, were asked to stop work, pending the conclusion of investigations on the matter. Mr. Chukwuma was also directed to vacate the school’s residential quarters within the week. Addressing journalists on the issue of allegation of rape of a student against Mr. Ebenezer Olateju, Ohaa said: “While we are working round the clock to give every physically-challenged student the best education, we cannot have incidences as this to mar our progress and achievements.” On why the teachers were suspended instead of being dismissed immediately, the Permanent Secretary said: “We want to be fair and follow due process. So, we will allow the committee do its work and report by next week. “But let me assure parents that anyone found culpable in any of these incidences, not only in this school, will be dismissed and prosecuted. Our teachers, like Caesar’s wife must be above board. “We cannot allow this kind of behaviour to continue. These children are more or less helpless and they depend on teachershere. They have confidence and trust in you, that you will protect them from immorality and even outside invasion. “And you turn around to be the person they are now afraid of. As a government we cannot just fold our arms.” One of the victims disclosed that the accused, Mr. Chukwuma, had touched her inappropriately while they were in the school bus on an excursion to Kwali, two weeks ago. Another victim also claimed the accused had always singled her out to berate, after she had indicated that she would not condone his inappropriate action. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/07/2-male-teachers-allegedly-molest-visually-impaired-female-students-in-abuja/ |

After the semi-final defeat to Algeria at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt, Gernot Rohr was pictured with a beautiful lady. The picture has been a subject of hilarious discussions on social media as many believe they might be romantically involved. The unknown lady has been blamed for the failed tactics Gernot Rohr used against the Desert Warriors. Meanwhile, it's not clear if the duo are an item as insinuated online. It would be recalled that the coach questioned his midfielders tactical awareness in the wake of their 2-1 loss to Algeria in Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash. https://www.tori.ng/news/126486/picture-of-super-eagles-coach-rohr-and-beautiful-l.html

France World Cup winner, Paul Pogba, is set to finally join Real Madrid from Manchester United in a huge swap deal involving winger, Gareth Bale, plus €80million next week. This was disclosed by respected Spanish journalist and former Head of Marca, Eduardo Inda. Inda stated this in an interview with Spanish TV station, El Chiringuito, on Thursday. He said: “The Juventus thing is a trick of Raiola to raise the price. “The only favorable thing for Pogba to go to Juventus is taxation. “I think that next week, Pogba will be a new Real Madrid player. “The issue is very advanced, Madrid offers €80m in cash plus [Gareth] Bale, which they estimate is worth €90m.” It was reported that Pogba is set to leave Man United in this summer’s transfer window after he told reporters in Tokyo, Japan last month that he wants “a new challenge”. “I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else,” Pogba said. “For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody, like everywhere else. “After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well.” https://www.tori.ng/news/125676/transfer-pogbas-new-club-finally-confirmed.html |
Ohaneze Ndigbo, apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has commended the federal government for suspending the proposed Ruga settlements in the country. The federal government had suspended the initiative following public outcry against it. In a statement by Nnia Nwodo, president- general of Ohaneze , the organisation said it is heartwarming that the Buhari administration finally deferred to the opinion of others on public issues. The organisation expressed worries about the lingering crisis between farmers and herders, urging the federal government to deport illegal immigrants to avert “further infiltration”. “It is heartwarming to observe that for the first time the current leadership at the federal level has deferred to people’s opinion on public issues,” the statement read. “Ohanaeze Ndigbo is as worried about the restoration of peace between farmers and herders in the country as the Federal Government and believes that the ultimate solution to it is to embrace ranching. “Government should carry out an audit of foreigners in the country and ascertain those with genuine entry papers, deport those illegally in the country as well as ensure that the nation’s borders are properly manned to avert further massive infiltration. “As a process towards healing, the present wounds and uniting the country, adequate compensation should be paid to relations of victims of the unwarranted killings in the country in recent times.” Ohanaeze also urged the federal government to take immediate measures to disarm “AK-47- wielding herders”, adding that “issues surrounding the suspended RUGA scheme indicate the importance of consulting the people before taking certain decisions that will affect them.” https://www.thecable.ng/ohaneze-on-ruga-buhari-deferred-to-public-opinion-for-the-first-time |
