A Christian school far back in 2014, rejected a Muslim corps member and asked for a replacement because according to them, they want him to freely express his views and he may not be able to do so in their organization.


A Muslim Twitter user shared a photo of the rejection letter on thee social media platform and wrote ''imagine this was written by a muslim school''

Another muslim stated that he sees nothing wrong with it because adherents of other faiths won't be allowed to teach in Islamic schools. While some argued that it is a case of discrimation.

A man has started a conversation online after he revealed that he will do nothing if his daughter gets physically abused by her boyfriend while paying him a visit.

Surprisingly, the man got a lot of support from his fellow tribesmen. Some even added that they will beat their daughter in addition to the beating she got from her boyfriend because no responsible single woman should go to a man's house.

The meeting which reportedly began on Saturday afternoon, February 2, is taking place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Present at the meeting are: Wale Egunleti, chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Ogun; Gboyega Isiaka, governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC); Chief Jide Ojuko, zonal director of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Campaign Council in Ogun West, and Ayo Olubori, Ogun state caretaker secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the public relations officer of the Ogun state police command and other security chiefs were also represent.


The meeting is said to have been convened at the instance of the former president.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that ex- president Obasanjo on Thursday, January 31, denied ever threatening to ensure that Nigeria is divided if President Muhammadu Buhari rigs the 2019 presidential election scheduled to hold on February 16.

Obasanjo said this in a statement released by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, arguing that as a Nigerian who fought for the unity of the country, he remains a believer in the country’s oneness.

“I am a strong believer in non-divisibility of Nigeria.
“I read a couple of days ago in the social media a statement ascribed to me that if Buhari rigs the election, I will fight to divide Nigeria. Those who know me will know that such a statement will never come from me,” the President said.

Marouane Fellaini has completed a £10.5 million ($14m) move away from Manchester United, with the Belgium international linking up with Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.


Goal revealed on Tuesday that talks had been opened regarding a switch to Asia.


The 31-year-old then posted pictures of himself at Brussels airport as he prepared to head off and finalise a deal.


An agreement was not confirmed during the European transfer window, but the deadline is yet to pass in China.


That has allowed Shandong Luneng to acquire the services of an experienced performer who departs Old Trafford after five-and-a-half years.


Fellaini had only committed to a new two-year deal with United last summer, with those terms agreed as his previous deal expired.


Rather than allow him to drop into the free agent pool, the Red Devils worked hard to put an extension in place.


Those discussions were, however, held during the reign of Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese a big fan of Fellaini and the options his versatility provided.


A change in manager, though, was always going to see questions asked of the Belgian. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sought to move United away from the more defensive mindset of Mourinho and
restore the attacking philosophies of old.



Fellaini played no part in those plans and slipped down the pecking order as a result.

With it clear that he had no future under the current regime, and potentially beyond that, the decision was quickly taken to allow him to move on.


Transfer talks have progressed quickly and he is now heading off to open a new chapter in what has been a colourful career to date.

He departs United having taken in 177 appearances and netted 22 goals.

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested a notorious
armed robbery suspect, Chibuzo Agu, who it says had been a
thorn in the flesh of residents of Oji River in the state, NAN
reports.


The Police also recovered a gun and a cartridge from the
suspect.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement on Monday in Enugu that Agu was arrested on January 27.

Mr Amaraizu said that the suspect was apprehended by a combined team of police operatives of the Oji River Division, Neighbourhood Watch Group and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives in Oji River axis.


“It was gathered that Agu, 23, from Amokwe in Udi community but residing at coal camp had allegedly on Jan. 27 at about 8:30a.m. on gun point led his other notorious gang members to where they had allegedly snatched and stolen a new motorcycle from the owner at Wonderful Market.


“However, alarm raised prompted a hot chase of the suspect and his gang members by the combined team of the police operatives, Neighbourhood watch group and NDLEA operatives in the area.


“The ‘hot chase’ and trace, however, paid off as the suspect was later arrested at Umuabi in Udi Local Government Area of the state, while a manhunt and search for other fleeing members of the gang had been intensified,’’ he said.


The police spokesman said that that the suspect had been helping police operatives in their investigation in relation to his cult leadership (Capone).


“The suspect is also being interrogated over other high profile cases of cult activities in Enugu metropolis and 9th Mile Corner axis including assassination, armed robbery and kidnapping,’’ he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria and Nigerians are constantly on his mind.


The president stated this on Monday at the closing ceremony
of a workshop on voter education organised by the All Progressives Congress directorate of election planning and monitoring.


Buhari said his administration has no free money to give to everybody but it will continue to provide infrastructural facilities to all parts of the country with the meager resources available.


President Buhari pledged that the APC-led administration will continue to build more roads, rail lines and provide more power for speedy transformation of the country.

He, therefore, charged participants of the workshop to convince ordinary voters on the need to vote APC in the forthcoming election.


Buhari said: “Please try and convince our ordinary voters for the sacrifice they are making that as far as this system i concerned we are all the same because I have one vote each.

“Let them feel they are important enough as Nigerian citizens. Therefore, we need their support and cooperation, let them come and vote for us.


“We don’t have money to give everybody. We will use th money for the provision of infrastructure – we will try and do your roads, we will try and do the rail and we will improve on power.


“I assure you that I go to bed and wake up thinking about Nigerians and Nigeria.”


President Buhari, who expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the general election, said the results of the recent bye-elections conducted in Edo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti had further boosted his morale.


He said: “The bye-elections in Kogi and Rivers were disastrous under the former party leadership as people were killed, properties lost and I as the President was very uncomfortable and unhappy.


“But the elections in Edo and Ondo partially resuscitated my morale because we won those elections.


“And then of course, subsequently we have virtually been winning all bye-elections – Ekiti and Osun and so on.


“This is done not because merely we are in power but because we decided to rebuild the party from bottom upwards so that people that represent the party and members of the party at each constituency will know whom they would trust for nomination as their representatives at
local, state and federal levels.


“These are not there by accident. We sat and planned them at the hierarchy of the party and I’m very pleased you are here representing all the constituencies in the country.

“We have no other interest than to serve this country and to serve our people.”

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said IPOB will hold a referendum on the sovereign state of Biafra on February 16, a date the Independent National Electoral Commission has set aside for presidential and National Assembly elections.


Kanu in a statement by the spokesman for IPOB, Emma Powerful, said the group would come out with the modalities for the referendum in a few days time.


The statement read in part, “We wish to announce officially to the people of Biafra both home and in the Diaspora, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom that our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently in London to join his family and see his child he hadn’t seen because of his illegal detention.


“He will also discuss with IPOB top family members in London to finalise the way forward for the Biafra referendum that will hold on February 16, 2019.”


It added, “Kanu is currently meeting with IPOB high
command in Europe to perfect plans for the referendum which will go side by side with the February 16 presidential poll.”

Lawmakers in the Lagos state house ofassembly have accused Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of the state, of incurring expenditure from the 2019 budget without presenting it to the assembly.



At plenary on Monday, the aggrieved lawmakers gave the governor a week ultimatum to explain his action, saying failure to do so could trigger impeachment proceedings.


Majority of the lawmakers at the plenary called for the impeachment of the governor while a few asked him to resign.

But Mudashiru Obasa, the speaker, appealed to his colleagues to give the governor the last chance to defend himself.


Nonetheless, he asked those pushing for the governor’s impeachment to start collecting signatures.


On several occasions, the governor met brick wall in his attempt to present his last budget. On January 3,

Olusegun Banjo, Lagos state commissioner for budget and economic planning, had said the state’s 2019 budget of N852.317 billion had been submitted to the
state assembly.


It was the first time in 10 years that the state would present the budget after the fiscal year ended.

The commissioner explained that the governor had sent verbal information to present the budget on December 24, after the state executive council approval on December 19.

But the presentation did not take place as the house was on recess and could not form a quorum.

On January 21, the lawmakers frustrated the bid of the governor to present the budget.

Ambode had contacted the lawmakers that he was set to present the budget but he was not given the opportunity.


A legislative source told TheCable that thenassembly will write to Ambode, detailing hisn“breach of the constitution.


The source said the response of the governor will determine further actions. He said one of the options that would be presented before Ambode is resignation and that nonimpeachment proceedings yet but that the atmosphere is tense.

Ambode’s relationship with the lawmakers went cold after he fell out with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

There had been reports of attempts to impeach the governor but in an interview shortly after Ambode lost his reelection ticket to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Obasa had said the governor’s action will determine whether or not he would be impeached.

Femi Otedola, billionaire businessman, has disclosed how the Department of State Services (DSS) gave him the $500,000 he offered to Farouk Lawan, a former lawmaker.


According to NAN, Otedola disclosed this before Angela Otaluka, a judge of the federal capital territory high Court, Apo, on Monday.

Lawan was the chairman of a house of representatives committee probing the multi- billion naira fuel subsidy fraud. He was accused of receiving money from Otedola to remove Zenon Petroleum and Gas limited, his company, from the list of oil companies allegedly involved in the fuel subsidy fraud in 2012.


In 2013, he was charged by the office of the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) for allegedly receiving bribe.


Otedola said the money was given to him by the DSS to set a trap for Lawan after he wrote a petition against him.


He said the $500,000 was a part payment of the $3 million demanded by Lawan, which was eventually given to him under the supervision of the DSS.


Otedola said he petitioned the DSS immediately Lawan demanded the bribe.

“Lawan said he was going to exonerate my company after giving him the money, security cameras were mounted in my living room to capture the exchange of money between me and the defendant,” Otedola said.


“The video is with the DSS, the money was given to him in two tranches $250,000 each.”

The judge, however, adjourned the matter till March 8 for the continuation of cross- examination of the prosecution witness.
