@expression Am just trying to put d capital togeda. I knw God almighty wl see me through
Ok, that is 'mobilisation'.

I have seen your thread on loan. Now, can I assume you have gathered enough info based on what's on ground and can now estimate the amount (capital) needed to start?

What I mean is if granted the loan(even if it's from a family member), will you be able to start now with what's on ground? Have you decided if to start with daycare or after school lessons or the initial plan of crèche - pry3?

Then between you and I, I'd like to know if school is the only short and long term business goal you have in mind?

YES

.... this depends on the Number of classes expected (eg min of 6 for Pry, less for nursery, more for secondary etc) plus other ancillary rooms,

e.g clinic/sick bay, Staff room etc

...... minimum total may vary slightly from state to state ................

Details are obtainable (often for a fee) at the State Ministry of Education .........
Wow thanks

Yes o, thanks to you, I'm not only just learning a lot, I'm inspired. I guess I owe you one for that. Here's what I'll do for you: I'll make out time to make more enquiries from one or two persons based on what's on ground, then I'll fill you in.

I have no formal training in the field, you're lucky and I'm glad you have at least been equipped with the technics and methodologies of teaching.

Will keep you posted.

You may also consider buying into an existing school that is up for sale, and rebranding. Rule out the issue of bank loan to start up. No bank would even give that. Also note that how fast you stabilize and grow will depend on how much you have put in. Your first assignments would be the school name, vision/mission, location and registration of name. Figure out what you would do differently. And it's good to know that your motivation is not necessarily the money. Be passionate about making it a success, use qualified and good hands, focus on service at a level higher than usual, keep doing all these, and you'll get there.

thanks very much u r a darling BT wait oo wch one be CAC?
The zeal to learn is there I like that. Let me attempt to answer that question:

CAC stands for Corporate Affairs Commission. Their responsibility is to register (big or small) businesses in Nigeria. It doesn't take much to register your business with the CAC.

Why he said it will be of help is that having your business registered gives it some credibility, given that it then acquires an identity.

What I mean is:

• It gives you the legality to use the name to do business, that's first, you will be sure you are not using an existing business name plus you are sure no one else will ever use your own business name;

• You can then open a current account with the registered business name, this account is different from the personal account you have been using. To open an account for your business, the bank will require a Certificate of Registration of Business Name which will specify your approved business name, business address and all;

• It will make people have confidence in doing business with you. As your customer, to start with, it will be easier for me to pay money into an account with a registered business name than into an account with your personal name. Plus people can, with trust, want to invest in your business knowing it is registered and that you won't run away just like that;

• If you run a business without registering it and along the line, you get involved in a legal battle, you will be in soup... smiley

Yes oooo rock bottom as it is fondly called
School registration and state approval is not beans
When you start your school , don't think of the state approval within the first 2_ 3 years , work on your standard and your name , there is no point spending millions on state approval when you don't have customers

Sell the name first , earn your parents confidence and trust , build a great school , not necessarily a building but a solid academic structure
And work on workforce ,

If you have your classrooms , a functional library and equipment with coooooooool cash then walk up to the registration arena but in the mean time you can get the CAC registration for your school , it helps a lot
This did justice to the question, thanks.

This animalistic behaviour of burning people alive has got to stop! Too many barbarians in that your Nigeria.

How can you do that to human beings and burn them alive as if you're burning cardboard? My goodness.
Haba Yields, it hasn't gotten to that nau, Nigeria is for you and I.

No doubt about the animalistic behaviour of the barbarians here, but if people like you keep leaving, then... You know what they say:

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Started very small , intact it was not a humble beginning but rather a humiliating beginning
Started with just 2 children in my family way back 2003
But two things were constant
1. The academic standard was defined even before start
2. Standard has been kept afloat ', that accounts for the treason we have the best set of pupils in my entire environment ,.... We are unbeatable .........
Wow, that was really starting from the rock bottom.

Kindly, at what point or stage did it become necessary to register the school and then also get government approval? I know it varies with states, but what would be the conditions/standards.... and monetary estimate for the registration and approval?

Your answers to the following WHY questions are your vision and mission statement
. 1. Why did you decide to start a new school when there are several other schools around you?
2. What will you do better than the average school around you?
3. How will you survive the competition ?
4. How will you convince me as a parent or guardian to register my child/ward in your school?
5. What can you give to make you stand out

Vision statement
1. Where do you hope to be in a few years time
2 . what do you intend to achieve starting your school
3. What help will your school do to the Nigerian child
Thanks. This is really educative. I appreciate the posts, please keep them rolling in.

Good evening house
Starting and running a school are two different things .......
Start it as a business person and run it as an administrator , don't be discouraged by the odds but first be convinced you really want to run a school .
You'll need time , commitment , skills , finance and most importantly God's grace to pull through and remember none of us started from the top , we all started from the scratch , the real bottom and we keep going .
Go back to the drawing board and really write down why you think you should run a school
Write out a vision and mission statement then we can continue from there ......
Thanks
Quite appreciated but can you guide the op and anyone interested on how you went about it from the scratch. Maybe a sample of vision and mission statement et al.

See this post:

It differs from State to State, as regulations differ, Urban schools are easy to market but expensive as per capital budget rural schools have access to cheap land.
It also vary with the levels i.e a Nursery school may not require more than 5 classrooms for approval, a primary school may require as much as 10,...
My point being is there a standard number of classes for approval?

Nope..
I won't suggest you get a loan from the bank. But if you can from Family and friends then it's okay..

A loan from financial institutions is only ideal when the school has shown good growth potentials.
I agree

BT let me ask you is getting loan a good idea for a beginer?
It depends on what you mean by a beginner.
But to begin with, if you must get a loan, you have to make yourself more attractive to lenders by being very prepared and knowledgeable about your business and about your business plan.

I guess that's the purpose of this thread. You're not alone in this as I am observing and following up.

@Op, it's your heart, your happiness... we're talking about here. Who's going to live with this said man for the rest of your life? What happens when your old man passes on? Do you think he would be happy to see you in a sad deplorable state where ever he is?

Trust me, every parent, in the end, wants nothing but true happiness for his/her offspring.

Persons who genuinely offer help to others (be it from parents to their children) should shrink from expecting "life enslavement" from those who at one time or other received help from them. With this they end up destroying their self-respect and the value they should receive for the help once given.

Gratitude itself is an expression of purest joy.
Thus wherever there is no joy included, where no joyful elation is the cause for gratitude, there the expression gratitude is used wrongly , there it is misused!
