CultureRe: Would There Ever Be Universal Unity With Colored/black Folks? by ezeagu(m): 7:04pm On Jul 04, 2012
When you study "Race" you will notice the races of people who look the most alike share the most Racial Harmony

Like say, The Chinese....East Asians

Much more of a BrotherHood Bond Than "Blacks"

Ask yourself Why........
Pay attention to even just East Asian news and you'd see that there's no "racial harmony" between east Asians. Yes, they come together in the diaspora and form associations to maximise their presence and strength, and they have a cordial relationship a lot of the times, but I can assure you that there is no "racial harmony" between a Japanese and a Korean or Han Chinese for example or even a Han Chinese and a muslim Uighur of West China, in fact it's the opposite. Here's a few reasons why:

Koreans who have been in Japan several generations are not seen as Japanese, they are treated like outcasts like every other non Japanese including Chinese, there's even tension between the Japanese and the small Korean minority in Japan, search videos on Youtube and you will see angry Japanese blaming Koreans for masking under the Japanese identity to commit crimes (like many West Africans do with Nigerian nationality when drug trafficking/fraud). Japan and China largely ignore each other and Japan sees China as an old relic and China actually sees Japan just a little bit short of an enemy because of WWII. Did you know Japan invaded northern China in WWII massacring Chinese men and raping Chinese women, many of who have illegitimate descendants in China? Did you know Korea (united) and the Philippines were colonised and occupied by the Japanese which still causes tensions today?

There's even a problem with some Asians when they marry from another country/culture. Look at the diaspora and you will see the Asians working together are usually the generation after their migrant parents. So there's no such thing as a "racial harmony", they don't even really see themselves as the same "race". They only cooperate which is what I think Africans should do instead of forcing some kind of false sense of unity that has never even existed since Shaka Zulu was raping and pillaging everyone around him to Nigeria dropping bombs on their "citizens".

Co-operation not "unity".
CultureRe: King Making In Igbo Lands by ezeagu(m): 6:43pm On Jul 04, 2012
ChinenyeN: Andre, you misunderstand my post. Corrupt or not, I would have preferred that my people fought harder against did completely did away with the warrant chief institution, rather than going to go borrow external culture to transform warrant chiefs to "ezeship". I know I should take solace in the fact that the "Eze's" in my area are only ceremonial figureheads, but the fact that the "eze" culture has been so adopted is just "mmm" to me.
This is what I meant when I wrote about every part of Igboland being invaded. You don't get people imposing their kings onto you if your land is not invaded. It would have been better if the 'eze' that were imposed remained what they were, which is governmental figures, like a mayor or even LGA chairman. The communities have now made it out as if these 'eze' are legitimate ancient lines of kings with cultural power. The sad part is that once uniquely "republican" and egalitarian societies (like the Ngwa) are now in effect imperial societies (over 600 kings in Imo!)

But, most of these kings don't have much power over peoples lives and they can be easily replaced (although they're usually rich, and we know there's no such things as a poor man against a rich man fight in Nigeria, unless in traditional culture which is disappearing).
CultureRe: What Are The Steps For Igweship In Igboland by ezeagu(m): 6:28pm On Jul 04, 2012
Most 'Igwe' (of which there are thousands now) pay for the title or is hereditary since most of the positions (over 90% of them) stem from British intrusion into Igbo culture (around 100 years ago). They were warrant chiefs who were imposed by the British and collected tax for them and did other bidding. Because of their history, and because of the way 'kingship' is in Igboland, they actually don't hold as much authority as kings from other cultures do. For example they can't make decisions for the community without general consensus, and they aren't seen as any superior to any of their kinsmen. The only one that I'm sure that is said to be chosen by an oracle is the eze Nri.
CultureRe: Why Do Nigerians Look At White People As Advanced Humans by ezeagu(m): 6:16pm On Jul 04, 2012
Blackteeth: Its all about the difference in culture. The white man's culture which involves the zeal to explore, innovate and adventure is what places him where he is today. This culture is been passed from generation to generation. The black man's culture involves very little zeal to innovate, explore, research and learn. If a white boy grows up in a black society he would take up the "uncivilized" African culture. The reverse is also the case when a black boy grows up in a white community.
I can't agree with this. What you're suggesting is that traditional African societies didn't have schools or explore mysteries of the universe, which couldn't be further from the truth.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ezeagu(m): 6:12pm On Jul 04, 2012
Da infamous: European and American women Married to a Village in the Eastern part of Nigerian, dancing "Egwu Ukwu, agbacha ekuru nwa" (waist Dance. Women use the dance to prepare to take-in for another baby) we are too much we get oyibo wive dancing our ijele dance heheheheheheh

oyibo full igboland ooooooooooooooooooo we are republicans in nature just like white people...
I'm really tired of this inferiority complex by Africans. It has to stop. There isn't any prestige in European women dancing your dances. None of their people give a shit if you line-danced. Look at how they've given the women special privilege to dance on their own like their superior to native women. Then you wonder why a German or even an Indian comes to your country and sets dogs on you.

'Oyibo' is a minority in Igboland, and it isn't an accomplishment to have Europeans 'full' your land in the first place. And "white people" are not 'republicans' by nature (I guess you mean their society?), even if they were, it doesn't make Igbo people any less or better because they're similar to Europeans. You're actually giving the people that constantly abuse you in your own country privilege, something they never do in their own countries or even colonies.

CultureRe: Igba Nkwu Nwanyi (igbo Traditional Wedding Ceremony) by ezeagu(m): 1:20am On Jul 03, 2012
Odenigbo Aroli: This your question is very strange; So you think europeans brought IGBA NKWU TO US ? I dont expect someone like you to ask this kind of question. Yea,maybe the ashebi was a recent thing but there has always always been umu agbogho who escort the bride.
In Idenmili anum nwanyi has three stages; First is iche ego, second is ibu ego and the las is igbankwu.
Iche ego; This is when the groom approaches the chic and proposes.

Ibu ego; This includes the actual introduction and paying of dowry.

Igbankwu; This is the actual grand wedding where the joining of hands takes place and the brides father gives the bride a cup of wine to go look for her husband and feed him the wine while on her knees...lol. This segment is also called "wine carrying".

Igbankwu is a traditional Igbo wedding which was invented by the Nri; Ezeagu, whites didnt introduce Igbankwu!! Yes,it has been modernized to an extent but it originated from Igboland.

After the wedding proper come the "nduna uno" and the "idu uno"...I will explain more...feel sleepy.
I wasn't saying Europeans introduced it, I was saying it may be one of those things that spread accompanying the other practices that become widespread like wearing okpu agu, or eating rice everyday. The first parts of marriage are general enough to be widespread in Igboland, the issue I have is believing the I gba nkwu wine ceremony was widespread or the same throughout Igboland. I could be wrong, but I believe different Igbo groups had their own variations of the marriage ceremony, just like the difference in their coming-of-age institutions and rituals. It's just my opinion through observing how different many of the practices among the Igbo were (or are, which is kind of fading), the igba nkwu ceremony is too specific to be followed by everyone. In fact, I've never seen anything mentioning igba nkwu in literature in the early 20th century.

Amalaaba: MY LONG HELD OPINION ABOUT THIS TOPIC: We Blacks are clearly inferior to the Whites in so many ways.
I have studied the following in the last 20 years and my opinion has remained the same. Here are some of them:

1. History and documentations of same
2. Calligraphy
3. Science
4. Community/Society Organisation
5. Civil control within and without

Just to name a few! We are so far ahead that a recent survey demonstrated that it was only Africa that regressed using all statistics of development in the last 30 years.

Every time i have opportunity of visiting western nations i marvel at their incredible mental power that makes otherwise impossible, possible!
If you can't understand how each continent has gotten to their current conditions and have concluded that it's because "blacks are clearly inferior" then you haven't even started studying. In fact what you've been studying is nonsense. I don't even understand the 5 areas of development you listed and what this has to do with inferiority, maybe because it's so obvious that with just a little bloody research we can find innovations from "black" kingdoms, states and individuals that check everything in your list. Let's just skim through those five factors:

1. By listing history, you've just shot yourself in the foot and exposed that you've done little research at all. What do you mean by "black people are inferior to whites" history wise? I'm not even going to go into this until I understand what this iffy statement means.
2. Every writing system (calligraphy) apart from that of the Chinese, the Easter islanders, and the Mayans came from black, charcoal, onyx, dudu, ojie, negro hands.
3. Oh, I'm going to guess you mean "blacks" are inferior to whites scientifically because they invented the gun? Oh, wait, the Chinese did that and Africans had the crossbow. Okay then, the gunpowder? No, Chinese. Cash? Chinese. What about their numbers? Hindu-Arabic. Did you know the oldest scientific instrument was found in Southern Africa? Did you know the Greeks had black citizens who they held in high esteem partly because of Egypt? Did you know Africans used soap and cream (palm oil and scented bark) thousands of years before Europeans? Do you know the amount of times the nobility of many European countries bathed in a year? Did you know Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Cyprus and France were either fully or partially invaded by semi-negroid Muslim moors from North Africa and that they stayed in these places for hundreds of years changing even the physical ethnic characteristics of the people?
4. Social organisation? When you have a neighbour in Europe for 20 years and you may never even say hello or even have eye contact? When an old man can be rotting in a house for 2 weeks without any neighbours checking on him? When you're in a crowd and a thief can hold you at gun point, you collapse out of a medical complication, or you unknowingly drop one of your belongings as you walk by and no one says anything? Is that social advancement? When lower-working class people are packed into tower housing that soon become a battle ground for gangs?
5. If not for the calamities that have followed colonialism, neo-colonialism and US imperialism, who would be disobedient in black societies? If they were given time to sort themselves out without the CIA or the FBI, or the KGB or the MI5, or the UN or IMF?

You go to Western countries and awe and you don't bother to ask yourself how they really got themselves there, all you can do is feel sorry for yourself and blame it on being inferior. You, personally, are you inferior to all white people?

I can't take people acting like they have some kind of moral high ground, especially considering how corrupt the so called religious leaders are. If molesters are fair game to be called Christian leaders, then how dare anyone put Christians in quotes on this video?

The bible speaks against a lot of things that are natural to human nature, including many things you do. I'm pretty sure you're not married but you've done the thing right? This is what happens when you adopt someone else religion you really do not understand.

CultureRe: Igbos, Will You Marry An Osu? by ezeagu(m): 3:27am On Feb 18, 2012
Osu still exists very much and the kids in the village are not as Westernised as people may want to believe. They know who exactly is Osu, go to any village and ask for Osu and they'll either say their people don't practice Osu, or they'll lead you to households. Discrimination is one of those things that pass through generations without much effort in teaching. Not every community practices demarcation though, and the severity of Osu varies from region to region, but marriage seems to be the only consistent discrimination.

I'm willing to bet something hefty that 99% of the Igbo commenting here will NOT marry an Osu, if not for anything, then it would be out of sheer pressure since Igbo communities are the most family based in the whole of West Africa.

According to what I've read, Osu are descendants of so called criminals who had the option of either being executed, sent out for exile, or becoming a spiritual slave for a deity. I've heard Nri priests can take away Osu, although I do not know why they simply can't call a delegation to rid the whole of Igbo land of Osu.

People should stop being hypocritical, Osu has nothing to do with measuring social development, since we have so many other acceptable discriminations in Nigeria and around the world (3rd generation Koreans are not considered Japanese in Japan, the third largest economy in the world and member of the "free world"). One day your kids may perceive a woman leaving her home for that of her husbands as discrimination. Measuring your society on that of a foreigner who lives thousands of miles away is primitive as well. Jesus can do what he likes, but I can assure you 99% of people who discriminate against Osu are. . . Chr. . .Chri. . . Chris. . .

By the way, this thread was bound to go nowhere.
