EXLOVER:
The space that is remaining on that Buhari kaftan can accommodate another Buhari. This man should be collecting pension by now in a sane society.
For you to say "a sane society", that implies that Nigeria is an insane society. If this is true, then we known insanity is something that should cured or have an entity 'sectioned'. The question now is how should Nigeria be cured or at this point it seems like it needs to be "sectioned".

You still find Black's DNA in some of them, same for France, Italy. Eveytime you see familly names like Moro, Moreno, Morand, Morena, Moranos, etc, hey ave Black Moors in their ancestry
You don't find a significant amount, in fact most of them have no African ancestry outside of north Africa.

Moors were PURE blacks and NOT middle easterners.
So where are their features in Spanish people today? How comes Spanish people's DNA points to Berbers and Arabs and never Senegalese or Malian people?

Egypt is 5000 years ago, 500 years ago the Moors were middle easterners and north Africans with some blacks mixed in.

Nairaland is only a confirmation of the fact that Nigerians are completely desensitised to death and suffering, the way you people think nothing of somebody pasting even a child's corpse on the front page of a public website says a lot about most of you peoplea psyche. This is a trend that's very common in Nigerian media.

selfmadeboss:
yes, they have igbo in their name but the pronunciation is different.
the igbos from the east is pronounced IBO while the igbo u see used by the abi people is pronounced igbo, the IG is pronounced the same wage u pronounced IG in ignore.
its hard to explain but its different.
u can use niger state in nigeria or niger- delta and compare it with NIGER as a country. the pronunciation is very different
Igbo (people) is pronounced I-gb-o, although I do not believe Igbo among the Legbo has anything to do with Igbo.

PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 11:28am On Mar 18, 2017
ChinenyeN:
Igbo people are so paranoid over "divisiveness" that they don't even realize that it's the paranoia (among other things) that is doing them in.

Truthfully, there is not much to discuss. This issue has been over flogging and not in the good sense. People have talked up and down about topics like this going from one Igbo-speaking community to the next. Yet, they never take it to the actual root of the matter. All the talk amounts to is the recycling of argument without saying anything new about the issue.

I'd like to commend Ezeagu for speaking what needs to be spoken. Igbo people's paranoia over unity has led to the worst type of self-censorship; it is the type that blinds a people from being truthful to themselves and compels them to remain content in the endless cycle of talk with no real movement forward.
And they don't want to understand that it is that centralisation and rigid terms of unity and conformity of a highly diverse language group without consultation of all parties involved during the colonial period is what has caused all of this problems in the first place. Most of these Igbo groups see 'Igbo' as an (old) Anambra and Imo hegemony and that is because of the historic centralisation in Enugu, Onitsha, Owerri, Umuahia.

But we're both here promoting a site where people post pictures of malnourished Biafra babies when arguing with Igbo people. I'm replying to the topic of this thread appropriately so another thread doesn't need to be created.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 1:34am On Mar 18, 2017
Ngozi123:
Many Igbo communities used the term "Igbo" to describe their neighbouring communities and not themselves. The term only became collectivised after the Europeans came, I believe. Onitsha people are proud Igbos. Like I said, some of them have an elitist mentality but it does not negate the fact that they are proud Igbos. The same goes for Ogbaru people too.
That is why I used the example, there are other groups like Ikwerre who called other people Igbo and it stuck, but also had many people among them like in Onitsha that said they were not Igbo. The point is that there hasn't been any leader or action by Igbo leadership that has come about to finally solidify Igbo identity which is why there's all this confusion happening all over the place.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m):
And note the "scornful contempt" is also how some Ika and rivers people refer to 'ndi Igbo'.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 1:17am On Mar 18, 2017
Ngozi123:
Anyone who has any knowledge of us- Onitsha and Ogbaru- would know that that saying is just used for jest. Some people from Onitsha and Ogbaru have an elitist mentality and view themselves as better than mainland Igbos. I strongly condemn this attitude but it in no way means that they're denying their Igbo heritage. Also, accepting that migration story doesn't necessarily mean that they're denying their Igbo heritage. Onitsha was founded by an Igbo man and many Igbos, including my ancestors, once lived under the Benin Empire.
Well, it's already recorded history that Onitsha people from te have said they are not Igbo but Onitsha people, not by jest. Visitors who constantly get called nwa Igbo did not see it as jest, anyway, but a constant reminder that they are 'foreigners'.

This is not surprising news, Onitsha people call or called other Igbo people nwa Igbo while they say they migrated from Benin.

Can you stop all this? now i am beginning to question your aim on this thread... thank God nobody is following your train of thought, don't worry very soon afonjas will, then you will get what you are looking for from cone heads, Olaniyi descendants.

Please you can create another thread for your postulations dont derail this thread. Thank you.
Is your contention that what I wrote is untrue, that Onitsha, parts of Anioma and the Igbo speaking parts of the 'south south' have many people who have or are still disassociating with Igbo, or is your contention with the fact that I pointed it out in the first place?

One of the biggest myths is that the so called "Afonjas" have much to do with this crisis within Igbo society, while everybody here is screaming 'Afonja, afonja' up and down Igbo businesses are still based in the heart of the so called "Afonja" land and some ndi Igbo have the effrontery to call it "no mans land" like they can fight "Afonja" and carry the land back to Igboland, the "Afonja" do not troop to Igboland like the Igbo troop to "Afonja" Lagos, the "Afonja" is being screwed by Hausa/Fulani as well but they somehow have kept their economy within their borders something the Igbo have failed to do. There is no "Afonja" that is stopping Igbo billionaires and politicians and other influencers from standing up and moving back east to push for port, to push for road, to push for a Lagos/Abuja class Igbo substitute or better, and to make sure Igbo businesses that others shun like Innoson are well patronised. Do you think if a member of OPC or another nationalist "Afonja" front was imprisoned like Nnamdi Kanu that Yoruba, sorry, "Afonja" big men and politicians would fold their arms like the ones in the east? Let us be honest.

I don't believe in digging heads in the sand, maybe more people should follow this train of thought.

PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 12:08am On Mar 18, 2017
While everybody is talking about Ikwerre, let us not forget that other Igbo groups are significant amount of members of the groups have claimed not to be Igbo, this includes parts of Anioma and Ikwerre, but also other rivers groups and Onitsha. The issue is greater than Ikwerre people being supposedly "lazy" or oil politics. It's clear evidence there is something lacking in Igbo society to hold all these people together.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 10:10pm On Mar 17, 2017
Furthermore there are thousands of Ikwerre people who identify as / with Igbo which adds more to the confusion. By segregating yourselves you're only setting up more scenarios where an Ikwerre girl named Chioma is shunned from entering a beneficial Igbo organisation overseas because of her forbearers confusion, you're really doing yourselves and I wish we could more visibly see the difference between Igbo and Ikwerre so all this can be avoided.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 10:06pm On Mar 17, 2017
Ikwerre people do not know where they stand, they are as confused as the rest of Igbo people, and yes I called them Igbo. Some Ikwerre people are very happy to shut up about "Ikwerre independence" when they can fleece off of benefits meant for Igbo people. Just looking at the entertainment industry, people like Monalisa Chinda and Tonto Dikeh are Ikwerre but they benefit from the industry, they know if they came with this Ikwerre is not Igbo fake news shit their careers will crash and burn. That's that.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 9:59pm On Mar 17, 2017
Looking at Nigeria, it is absolute madness when you see there is a strong regional center or capital in every place but Igboland that is the base of the regions economy, Igbolands base in terms of economy, middle class, property and business, even politics self is in Lagos and Abuja. It's a shame.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 3:27pm On Mar 17, 2017
myplaydiary:
You have a point there, but your assertion is wrong, Igbo's are only that way because of where they find themselves today (Nigeria) and everyone in trying to get to Aso rock. Nigeria have been more of a setback to the Igbo man than a blessing.

Secondly Igbos have no clear cut mission or agenda and lack leadership this have caused lack of direction and focus for the elite who represent the people. However all that is subject to change and does not affect Igbo's uniting to effect a change.
Ikwerre and some Anioma disassociate with Igbo because the Igbo people cannot strategise and stand for one clear goal in Nigeria. There are no Igbo leaders that would reach out to them to strategise, instead all you have is Igbo playing by Nigeria's divisive regional politics and calling themselves "south east" as if all Igbo speaking people are in the "south east", anybody outside of the "south east" does not strongly identify with Igbo, how would they when the "south east" doesn't see them as Igbo.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze, Igbo And Ikwerre, Let's Discuss Here by ezeagu(m): 1:39pm On Mar 17, 2017
I have come to the conclusion that Igbo people as they stand do not have the ability to stand together in a common cause judging from politics and the way they do ntufu ntufu with their property and economy. Just my observation.
