obamartins:You chose to refer yourself as giant of Africa. Abstaining is not a mark of being a giant but weakness and cowardice. Have you heared about that one that sit on the fence? Who takes him serious? A giant does what he feel is right and will be willing to face the consequences. If you agree with Israel and the U.S that Palestine does not merit a statehood, then show your support or vote against it, if you happened to disagree. What is PDP/ current government policy on this issue? Was it siddon and no action? Abstaining from any position in a world affairs shows lack of any coherent foreign policy. How do you expect Iran and Saudi Arabia to help you at OPEC level where you needed more than Israel and U.S to cut their production quota that will help stabilize the world crude prices. U.S refused you arms that you needed and when you got an opportunity to reply, you chickens out by Abstaining. That's not smart. |
In my opinion, Boko Haram will prefer Jonathan presidency for their relevant. Jonathan being a professed Christian is one of their first ideological recruitment drive. But with Buhari they will lose that and he won't lose any sleep wiping them out. Unlike Jonathan whose cautious approach was a disaster because he doesn't want to upset some northern establishment who he needs for his re-election. That is why, when it came to the crunch he decided to sacrifice Ihejirika instead giving him his support. But bad news for Boko Haram is that, if Jonathan wins, his second term could be different because he has no re-election to worry about this time. But I doubt if has the courage to do so. |
This is the sort of PR Jonathan handlers should be doing for him. APC are trying to portray an image of people oriented party that are being sponsored by ordinary people with their produce while governors openly giving public money away to Jonathan campaign. The yam is just a symbol, just like Bazaar sale to raise money where a spoon can be sold for 10k. So now APC can masquerade any amount of money from this genius scheme without raising an eyebrow as they can claim a tuber was sold for any amount they wish. |
logica:So you bought a house worth $450k and over 25 years a bank allowed you pay an interest of just $27k? You must show me that generous charity bank. |
logica:Ok, like I said, you are the maths expert. You think if you go to a bank and borrowed $450m and over 25 years you will pay just $27m? We will all be billionaire now and own hundreds of houses. And why no nation ever pay off their debt. If you have ever bought a house using mortgage loan, you will know how it is done. |
mikeansy:When he alleged that Jonathan presidency was a threat to the survival of Nigeria and that Jonathan is like a madman with matches at a petrol station, I never saw the waving banner of a concerned citizens until now. .He is responsible for his government and those he chose to work with him irrespective of who recommended them, which he reserves the right to reject. Because he wanted to please the governor's that brought him the famous 98% voters turn out and votes. Again it wasn't governors that appointed Okupe and Abati. It's his choice only. Does Buhari play the religious card in the North while at the same time playing statesman in the South? Nigerians should search for the truth. Its very important we do.Tell me the Nigeria political elite that doesn't play religious or ethnic card? Imagine what you will be saying if Buhari as president goes to Mecca with bunch of Imams and Islamic clerics and at Kaba Stone chanting Islamic stuff? But Jonathan did that in Israel and it was ok. For a leader of supposed secular society. He campaign every Sunday from the pulpit of churches, imagine Buhari reading the Koran openly every Friday from a mosque and talking politics, what you be saying? I hate hypocrisy. It sucks. We live in the digital age, there are videos of Buhari's campaigns in the North and what he has been saying. even if it is in Hausa language am sure there are honest translators who can help.Like I said, if Buhari is to do what Jonathan does weekly in the churches and with crazy celebrity obsessed pastors in mosques with crazy imams all hail will break loose. Now, in reality, who is the real religious zealot or bigot? |
logica:6% of $450m is $27m $27m multiply by 25 is $675m (interest) Capital + Interest $450m + $675m Total Repayment: $1.125b. I maybe wrong. You are maths expert. By the way, these loans are never fixed as the lenders are not stupid. And don't forget payment defaulting charges, facilitation fees/charges, foreign exchange rates. |
Deltagiant:She forgot that her father and NPN play politics with anything they do not control if the state was controlled by the opposition. They refused Sam Mbakwe the license to build petrol chemical industry at Ukwa Ngwa and refused to build it themselves and Shagari calling Mbakwe Oliver Twist in front of our people for his persistence in demanding. They blocked the Imo Airport until Allison Madueke came and realized it through community effort. Who can forget how they sat on the accreditation of the then Anambra state University of science and technology built by Jim Nwobodo until their partners, University of Nebraska intervened through their government. Suddenly his father and NPN is a friend of Jakande's UPN government to now become their spokesman and know what was in place. I wonder what Babatope got to say about Akinjide speaking nicely for Jakande government. I feel sorry for people who cannot play neutral and see this politicians in their true colours of lying and deceit. |
logica:You don't need to be an expert in economicsv to know that with international loans, the percentage you see is the rate of borrowing and does not reflect the total amount being paid back, just like the money you borrowed for mortgage. Countries ends up paying only the interest not the actual amount borrowed. Why do you think borrowers never ever pay off what they borrowed? Because they service just the interest, in the end you are paying sometimes more than you borrowed over the period. And those periods no one ever gets to as the debt is frequently resheduled. OBJ is the only person in my recollection that hard repaired foreign debt by taking advantage of the oil windfall benchmark and making the creditors an unbelievable offer of a lump sum payment if they can write-off a substantial amount. An offer they could not refuse. |
prettyboi1989:Good points |
Sincere9gerian:What a useless question. The Nigeria of 2000s is not the same of Nigeria after Shagari. In 1984 most Nigerians were practically starving. Oil at $8 a barrel and billions in debt to IMF, World Bank and the Paris Club, not to mention the internal debt. |
logica:Some time fact lies on common sense. Would you you cancel a $2 dollar loan to pay $4 in penalty, even if you are a loner? Who in their right mind will believe that? Even if Buhari is crazy, others like David Mark who were there were mad too? Often some of you forget that it was a government made up of more than 20 persons, not a one man show and decisions are taken by majority vote within those members of Supreme Military Council and ratified by the National Council of State body. Can some of you just think and reason? There are certain things as a learned and intelligent person you just don't entertain, let alone buy. |
major466:So because Ferrari cost a fraction of what it costs today in figures, your parents should have treated themselves buying one instead of using the money to educate you. And now Ferrari cost much. Only a fool will borrow even a single penny more when you are already deep neck in debt and creditors knocking at your door, people losing their jobs because there are no money, workers are owed months of salaries in arrears by both the deposed federal and state governments. |
Kenai:Stop spreading lies or just that you enjoyed spreading ignorant. They paid nothing, that is why the likes of Thatcher hated them because many British companies like Costain was involved in the proposed project and also the government proposal that all foreign firms doing contracts should keep a certain percentage of their profit in Nigeria. When Buhari left power, why didn't subsequent government revives it, if he was the clog? Ask your self that question. |
My problem with this politicians and the way they corrupt a simple information is alarming. The worry is that they will tell this lies and the younger generation will swallow it without bothering with facts. If Buhari single handedly stopped Lagos rail because he was anti Lagos or anti modern infrastructure, why didn't Jakande revamped his pet project years after Buhari is no longer in power when Abacha made him his minister of works? The fact is that the Buhari government was concerned about the proposed funding of the project by the international monetary agencies and banks. The interest and conditions under which Jakande planned to borrow the money was suicidal to anybody that care about money. The interest would have taken Lagos state or Nigeria many decades if ever to pay it off. Who in their right mind will borrow $450m and pay over 100% interest on it? Do you know what that amount worth in the 80s? The government decided to exercise a clause in the loan to pull out and planned to source the finance later through other sources especially when the economy was at its knee and Shagari government had plunged the nation into an unbelievable debt and the repayment is an unbearable burden and oil price was at its lowest. This was exactly what happened Unfortunately that government was overthrown and how anyone will turn around and screwed up the truth is criminal. Why old men like Akinjide of 25% of 19 fame will choose to lie when the fact were there is beyond nothing but pure wickedness. |
Why didn't he declare his support for Jonathan? Himself and Babangida Aliyu both has presidential ambitions. They both worked hard for GEJ in 2011, in the hope that Jonathan will keep to his words of not running in 2015. When Jonathan changed his mind, they were left to dangle and showed interest with APC, when they realized that Buhari will run again, they decided to stay put in PDP but no support for Jonathan. So the candidacy of Buhari to the two is a clog to their future aspirations. That is why Aliyu said in 2011; that Buhari presidency can mean exile for many of the northern elite like him. The are the people that engineered the riots of 2011. He needs to stop Buhari eventhough he cannot bring himself to support Jonathan either, because any Buhari momentum can easily sweep his legacy and base away in Jigawa against any future aspirations. Jonathan should be watchful of him. He is a very unreliable man you cannot trust. One of the first SDP leaders in 1993 along with Aneni and Jakande to not only abandoned June 12 within days but jump into Abacha government as a minister and declared the annulment as an act of God to the surprise of everybody. |
nationwide1:My question for you is very easy and elementary standard. Why would you be submitting an ID over an event you had fully participated three (3) times in past by the person or body? |
bigtimemugu:University especially Nigeria ones created only certificate holders like Patience Jonathan of this world. University doesn't create wisdom. Good leadership lies in natural wisdom and those with University's based knowledge can run around natural wisdom to compliment. |
kristisking:What is it with you people with this nonsense about cattle rearing or ranching? It's very embarrassing hearing the so called enlightened using cattle ranching in a sort of derogatory fashion. As long as l know whether it's in Germany, Britain, U.S, Australia etc, rearing cattle is an exclusive privilege of rich land owners, like George Bush family in Texas. Many Hollywood celebrities that live in California or New Jersey rear animals in their farms. This cattle rearing nonsense is at the height of pure ignorant. Stop embarrassing yourselves. |
Nctrice:b You should get out more. |
Why do they need submission of his qualifications again, having submitted on 3 previous occasions or dididn't they ask for it in 2003, 2007and 2011? |
Mynd44:Who turned it into dust/lizard place, the people selling it? Why can't any serious investors buy land build their own shopping mall, instead of selling a national icon and turn into a shopping warehouse? Total disgrace. The impact Nollywood has had without government imput, should have taught them that growing a viable economy is not all about buying and selling commodities. EnEntertainment/Art which that building represented has bigger potential of creating more indigenous sustainable jobs than all these vulture investors coming with 100% imported products flooding Africa and then cart away their profit through capital flight. They are more likely be thinking and focused on the kickbacks around it rather than the interest of their nation. |
tonte:I would be a fool not to know that you don't know. Am only asking you as an intelligent person and based on what you said before. I want you to use your Gods given common sense to analyse whether an unannounced visit to Chibok will be riskier that election campaign of thousands of people in attendance? I am not a security expert but common sense detect that a huge crowd will be riskier in terms of security for Jonathan than an unannounced visit to the parents and troops in Chibok. and NE, because I cannot just imagine him not campaigning in the NE. Do you? |
![]() Did he file the fire report as well? Next person will now claim that a hungry goat ate his. With Nigeria politicians, who needs Jon Stewart? Amazing gig stuff they come out with. |
dayosaurus:Don't be silly, what's this got to do with Ndigbo or religious zealots. The game for religion started from Aso Rock. Didn't they successfully blackmailed their opponents against picking moslems/moslem ticket. It's the disease of Nigeria that isn't getting better even in this 21st,century, nothing to do with Igbo. Look at Kaduna, Lagos or any other place where there are religious issues to play with |
What about members of Cherubim & Seraphin, Olumba Olumba and Ogwugwu worshipers, what do they get? |
So he even once joined APGA and now he has issues with those exercising the same right of changing association? So what was it he wanted to change then? So Osibanjo being a professor is now bad news but Jonathan campaign of being the first academia president is such a good news? Ok. And what was that about being tested in laboratory and farm yard? What's he talking about? Am often marvel at the low intellect of these men and women. |
tonte:You mean your president won't campaign in North East in this election with unpoliceable thousands of people in attendance? |
anonimi:The idea of leadership is the ability to put your life on the line for those peasants that pay you handsomely to be their leader. It sounds terrible but if don't have such a sentiment, you are not a leader let alone calling your self commander in chief. Just a mere big sounding title that has no meaning at all. During the war, Ikemba was well known among the Biafra army for coming right into the fiercest war zone area in person. How much it encourages the troops when you see your commmander in in chief right in the middle of it. And then he will walk around the towns under bombardment and empathize with the refugee public in person. Despite all the mistakes made, we loved him for it. |
Every sane person knows that Jonathan shot himself on the foot by not visiting Chibok while the whole world was watching. Especially after swimming in denial that the kidnapping was a hoax for weeks. So how will he justify the idea of campaigning in that state for his re-election? Wouldn't gathering thousands of people in one spot, be riskier, if that was his excuse? If with thousands of security around him, he considered a part of his domain too dangerous for him (the servant) why must it be safe for his master, (the public)? Does he need to announce to the world that he is visiting the affected areas just like leaders with troops in Afghanistan or Iraq does frequently to re - assure the troops and the public that you are with them when made several unannounced visits? Be it as it may, you are telling the public that you swore to protect, that their lives are inferior to yours. Only in Nigeria will a so called leader get away with such. Listening to Yakassai will give even a fool the clue that the mentality of an average Nigeria ruling elite and their disdain to ordinary folks and their total lack of empathy to people they treat as dust on their shoes. |
babs01:There you have it. Mr PDP have left the building |
ahaika23:Anyone who pays his or her tax in Rivers State is an indigenous person. Not lay abouts hoping for an another person sweat he terms abandoned properties |
