Ok. Let me give you an inkling of what will likely happen in Nigeria if Buhari and APC rig the 2019 election.

You have read the statements put out by the United States and the United Kingdom earlier on Thursday the 24th of January where both countries specifically warned against the rigging of the election and promised visa sanctions and even international prosecution for those who will be caught or indicted in the rigging of the election. Those who don't know or those who are so blind that they can't see, think that the statements by those countries are empty boasts. Let anyone in INEC, the security agencies and in the federal or state governments even try to rig this election and see. The international observers are coming in huge numbers more than ever before after reading the reports of the shame and sham in Osun State. The word has spread round and they are coming with a large delegation to observe the elections.

It's such a shame that the perceived gains of our electoral advancement in 2011 and debatably in 2015, have been eroded by the selfish and evil machinations of a desperate self-serving cabal.

With the US and the UK releasing warnings to Nigeria about electoral malpractices, it doesn't take much to look at what has been happening in Venezuela in the past three days or so.

In Venezuela, the leader of the opposition party ran for the Presidency with the incumbent President. The election was heavily rigged in the incumbent's favour and the international observers from the European Union and other countries, including the USA, reported the malpractices in that election to their home countries.

And what has happened?

President Trump of America a few hours ago duly recognised the opposition party leader as the President of Venezuela. Trump says the election was rigged and that the incumbent has to leave. What has followed? The European Union, Canada and other countries have also recognised the opposition party leader as the rightful President-in-waiting. Trump and the other countries have directed that all oil proceeds due to Venezuela be kept in a special account and will not be sent to Venezuela till the opposition candidate is rightfully sworn in. Trump has also agreed that the opposition leader can form his cabinet which the international community has agreed to recognise.

This means that the Venezuelan opposition party leader is now a President in the eyes of the world, while the incumbent president in his country is screaming blue murder. The opposition President will be given the status of an international Head of State and will be thus recognised. It's only a matter of time before the incumbent in Venezuela either accepts defeat or is removed by the people's protest when biting economic sanctions hit very soon.

How does this relate to the February election in Nigeria? Only the discerning can see what will happen.

If Buhari and INEC and the security agencies attempt to rig the election and results which do not reflect the will of the voters are declared, Nigeria should prepare themselves for the Venezuelan treatment.

Every Nigerian should be asking for right now is for free and fair elections in Nigeria. Let the people's will prevail.

It won't take one month of sanctions on us before the reality of what the effects of a rigged election on our economy and national psyche hit home.

Guaido never ran for presidency in Venezuela, Maduro banned the opposition from participating in the election and ran unopposed , he won by 67% and was sworn in last week. the international observers view this as a vacancy in the presidency because there was no contest. the constitution of Venezuela empower the Leader of their unicameral legislature to take over as interim president and organise election within 30days.... while I did not support excessive use of power, the West can do nothing to any formidable country, Russia, China, Turkey, and other anti-west countries already support Maduro. all na politics

Bro I've given up on Nairaland. Just so they can be first to comment or get likes they post rubbish. Ramos was at fault and even though the boos weren't entirely for Osaka viewers weren't pleased and a lot of professionals have come out to stand by Serena. What the umpire did was controversial, disgraceful and unfair to Serena. Please, my brother did the capturing for his passport but is yet collect due to the delay in issuing passport these days. The problem is there was a mistake in the date of birth. Instead of 2001, what was registered was 2000. Please how can this be corrected before the passport is printed out. Cos, am hearing that after capturing no changes can be made again. Please what's d solution

I think that correction can only be done in Abuja. are you sure the passport is not produced?

Yes, i have used it to travel to other countries before. The age difference is a year, for example to change year 1983 to year 1982.
Day and month remain the same.

visa on arrival works very well in Nigeria especially for those that couldn't get their visa because of time constraints. your host in Nigeria will apply for you where you'll be required to send
1. data page of your passport
2. your ticket

your host (could be a company or individual) will also stand as a guarantor. note that this is strictly for visiting or business purpose. the approval takes like 3days with 10k. it can be faxed over to you and you'll present it at the airport. you'll pay a visa fee of $195 at the airport.

Thanks for your swift response. But I meant changes like Date of Birth or Name. I heard it can take up to two months or thereabout.

it depends on the type of change... it usually takes 3-4 weeks to secure approval. but you must come with all your documents.

do you have a plan yet? this will go a long way to determine the cost.

if this government had focused on how to improve the citizen's welfare, we wouldn't be in this mess.... from day one, they have embarked on wild goose chases... what happened to the forgery case instituted against saraki and ekweremadu , what about code of conduct case? how about the recall process of dino melaye? what happened to oke and ikoyi billions? what about Andrew's case? the government has not successfully prosecuted any single case since 2015... abubakar Malami should be the worst AG in our history, even the useless Adoke and Bayo Ojo were not this worse.., you probably wont be challenged enough when you work under a docile boss.

this is interesting, apart from swindling us of our hard earned money, they never give reasons for denial. I was there last year and I spent nearly 8mins (which should be the longest amongst all applicants) I was denied. out of over 50 applicants that were there, only 3 were given. I was amazed at the crowd and I don't blame them for denying so much people. if Nigeria were at their level we would deny people from less developed countries from coming to ours also. personally, I know like 5 people that have gone their and have no intention of coming back. they only give people with a very genuine reason for going. Let's join hands to fight our demons here also and make our country home again.
