I don't understand why you people keep talking about a country being "better" or "worse" than Nigeria whenever someone brings up a topic such as this. The whole idea of business is to leverage on the massive opportunities a new place may provide. A country doesn't need to be more advanced for your business to thrive.

I know people who've made cool cash in places that seem rugged. Kenyans, Ugandans and Tanzanians have made a lot of money from doing diverse businesses in South Sudan and Eastern Congo, countries which can hardly be described as better than most African countries.

I don't know about other women, but during my dating days, I would scout for a potential life partner only. Never bothered myself with any guy who had a different vision for me. So, yes. When I'd meet a guy, I'd tell him very early what my expectations were.

Sure. But from my observation, Nigerians generally tend to carry marriage mata for head, in comparison to other Africans. Or perhaps it's a trait particular to certain ethnic groups in Nigeria...I mean...I don't know.

A certain male moniker (Myñd or Mînd or something like that) has lived in Kénya and as a resident, he observed that the Kényan women he worked with would never bring up the issue of their marital status. In fact, he later learnt that most of them were married but they never ever felt it was a matter worth discussing or even declaring. He was a bit surprised, but kinda impressed by the whole thing. Same way I stay mum about my family life even here.

In this part of Africa, we generally don't use marriage as a weapon to mock unmarried women.
We generally don't stigmatise single mothers.
We generally don't stigmatise divorcees.
We generally don't stigmatise childless women (or men).
We generally don't stigmatise menopausal women.
We generally don't stigmatise people living with HIV.
We generally don't stigmatise persons living with disabilities.

Disclaimer - Of course that's not to say that you won't find a few who do stigmatise others for whatever reason.

I don't know what the future holds for Africans, but we'll be okay las las.

My father hit my mother a couple of times (mum herself is a fighter from her youth) and they're still married for almost 40yrs now.

I've seen a man slap the hell out of his wife to reset her brain and he loves her to bits till date and are still married.

Hitting your woman to correct her erroneous mentality is same as correcting a child by spanking, and seeing how mentaly immature some Nigerian women can be at times, that brain resetting hit can be utterly necessary and can even save a marriage, it only depends on the circumstances.

Marriage is not a straight journey as I've come to understand it. At times the man has to take charge of situations and do the needful at times, and if that involves the occasional hit then so be it.

How have human beings all over the world been able to handle rejection? People get rejected everyday and the world hasn't exploded yet. Why should accepting that someone doesn't envision you in their lives be a thing which requires technical skills to handle?

People go through worse stuff in life and the world hasn't collapsed. Some lose their homes and businesses and begin afresh. Some women have been abandoned by the spouses they had entrusted their lives to. Some men have gone through the pain of betrayal from broken engagements and paternity fraud. How were they all able to handle it?

I think it's about time people learnt to respect the wishes of others. She approached a guy she likes. The guy doesn't fancy her. So what? She's still breathing right? She can walk, eat, sing, talk. So what's the big deal here if the dude doesn't fancy her?

The picture you painted here is ideal, but you and I know it's not always the case. Often times, interviewers throw offsetting questions at prospective employees for whatever reason known to them.

No doubt about that. I have been on both sides of the table (as an interviewer and as a candidate) and I can attest to that fact.

However, I still insist that it's only those interviewers who've got their arses far deep into the 80s that employ rudeness and contempt as an interview strategy.
