tucurj: pls help me out,my isa brown layers of 150 are now 16wks,i was planning on giving them eds vaccine before when they are 18wks but looking at things now,i cant aford it,can i use komarov instead?i heard it can be given at 8wks and 16wks but i did not give them at wk8,pls what should i do.pls i need ur advice. .. If it means borrowing money to complete the vaccination plan, do so. Taking short cuts may work sometimes, but not for long. And make sure that the person buying the vaccine for you is not cheating u. Better buy it urself from reputable places like animal care. |

hayor2014: Was doin a little reading on the recommended drug and I saw this on Wikipedia...Enrofloxacin was banned(in USA I guess) for poultry use in 2005. [ 6 ]Baytril should not be used in rapidly growing animals (for example dogs under 12 months - 18 months in large breeds, or kittens under 8 weeks) as it causes abnormalities in the development of articular cartilage...
Dunno if anyone has seen this .. Some drugs are banned in the US but not in nigeria. Also some drugs are banned in Europe but US farmers are still using them. So it differs from country to country. The reason why they ban some drugs is due to the issue of antibiotic resistance occuring in humans. |

hayor2014: Please for knowledge sake @farmtech... You said not to treat sick birds with live vaccines....what is a live vaccine and what other type of vaccine exists in order to treat a sick bird with .. Live vaccine contains living virus. Eg include lasota, gumboro, ib vaccines etc. There are killed vaccines that are given by injection. U treat sick birds by giving them the correct antibiotics, but I've come across a site that recommend lasota and injection of komarov as treatment for serious newcastle disease. Komarov is a newcastle vaccine given by injection. I've not confirm this yet oo. |

samuel25: Good day house, please how can I successfully treat cholera in layers? I have given them keproceryl and the symptom of solid greenish dropping still persist. Though, they look very active but there is occasionally cough in them. Initially, I thought it was Newcastle's symptom and gave them lasota, but later discovered through this forum that it's cholera. I have given them this Keproceryl for a week now and it seem it doesn't work,I even gave them iodine and it was the same story, please what can I use as permanent solution. The best way to know is thru lab test. And "NEVER VACCINATE SICK BIRDS WITH LIVE VACCINES". SINCE U hav been giving antibiotics and they look healthy, stop antibiotics and give multivit. |

rubris4u: Right now they eat abt 50kg/day.often times, early in the morning when i empty their feeders of the previous day feed and weigh it,its about 8-10kg guess it is because at midday the heat is always much. I feed them early in the morning and refresh their feeders around 3pm. i dont have light on the farm now & i dont want to photostimulate them. .. You have to tackle the heat problem using the tips listed here: http://www.farmersjoint.com/Thread-Chickens-Raising-Chicken-in-Hot-Climates. How are they doing now? |

They have been stressed, so give them vitamins and an antibiotic like tylodox. |
