Now with no colateral, what happens if you can't pay back the loan? .. In an event of disaster in your farm - pest, disease etc, how do they consider that? .. The interest rate, is it annually? |
fm7070:.. A solution to that would be importing the semen instead. |
fm7070: The local breed will be a very bad business to venture into.. Thanks for the tip. If I'd consider goas, it would have to be a cross between boer and WAD. |
It requires a lot of patience and it's better when combined with faster biznesses. Thanks very much. |
Does this work on laptop? Just asking... |
Nice post. How about nafdac no? |
How much does each cost you? |

amarawa: Bank of Agric loans requires u to operate account for 3 months. You can also benefit thru a cooperative. The maximum for each person N250,000... 3 months? I can't remember who told me 6 months. |
ugsams: Not far from the expressway, I learnt that bike men now stay in front of the new road(I'm not sure of this) but to be on a safe side just stop at Toll gate and get a bike that will take you to Agric or alternatively stop at site, wait for bike under the billboard of the West African Intercontinental Market tell the bike man to take you to Agric. The trip from site will obviously be more expensive(between #100 - #200) but will take you through Ozeh village in Nkwelle Ezunaka and enable you to see the area more. Thanks v much. I'll visit there soon. |
jethro2: Mile 12 Lagos recent prices.. This is very helpful. Keep it up. |
ugsams: If you are talking about the new Nkwelle Ezunaka road that is located around Toll gate, the answer is yes... Thanks v much. I know Osakwe farm. They have another branch at Ogidi and I've done biz with them b4. .. How far is Agric from the expressway? Also, is there any river there where people practice dry season farming? |
Lesgupnigeria: thanks.. Pls tell us what u know. That's another value addition farmers shud do in order to be free from those "market women". |
opes: the pond odour can be prevented by using PROBIOTICS. I was using chicken manure to indirectly feed my fish and also using it to fertilize my pond water because i used the pond water to culture duckweed. in two of my ponds, i used fresh chicken manure so odour is expected. it will be tedious changing the water regularly, but you have no option than to change and replace the pond water by at least 20% so that your fish quality will not be affected by the odour. though my production is not for commercial purpose, rather a livelihood project and training for local farmers... Hey! Where do you get those duckweeds? I've been looking for it. |
kay29000: Whoa! So much business opportunities in Nigeria. I don't even know which one to focus on right now... That's hw it use to be initially. Just analyse as many as posible and then choose one that suit your need. |
felixzo1: not yet... Ok. Keep us updated. |
If you want to get loan from bank of agric, open an account with them and make a deposit of 3k minimum. Run the account for 6mnths and you can apply for loan. |
felixzo1: i am yet to kick off, i will start construction when the rains stop.. Have u started? |
mercylicious: well, ppl in all those are serious farmers. Anambra east is the mainstay of agric in anambra state, frm farming to fishing. it consist of otuocha, aguleri, umuleri , anaku etc The roads in dt area is either bad or non existent. Most ppl from.otuocha/ anam side enter canoe to go to their village as there are no connecting bridges... When I went to river niger, I saw people packing big yams from canoe. They said the yams come from Anam. |
crispgg: I don't have that information. But I heard in the news especially around the end of Obasanjo administration right into Yar Adua's about govt opening a number of the around the country, especially in the north. The ministry of Agriculture should be able to provide that information to you.Tnks |
securi: Thanks for this information contrary to an earlier response in this forum that there is no monkey invasion in this part of the country... It is also similar to the painting i talked about. People say it work. Now op shud be thinking about how to catch one. |
http://www.serendipity.li/wtc5.htm A link about controlled demolision. With few explosives, you can bring down any building. |
@Mercylicious, I asked bc I heard on tv that the new road our govnor is building there will link to some farm settlements there. .. Checkout my reply on the post u created about monkeys. |
They can get use to scarescrows with time. An effective method is to use black-face monkeys called langurs. You can also catch one monkey and paint it red, that one will chase his group away. If another group come u repeat the same thing. |
Gbengazzee: My agent caIIed me today that there is fresh communal crisis in Ashangwa. And that the fulanis were beginning to burn down Ashangwa market but the military intercepted them. He adviced that I shud come to the place as fast as I can to get my goods out of the market... Hmmm. Are we safe? One of the problem agriculture is facing is crisis, communal clashes. Many people hav interest in agric but if you shud go to all these agric areas, is your life safe? I find this to be a big challenge. |
dav8id: THE FARMERS ONLY COME AND SELL IT TO MEETUP WITH THEIR DAILY NEED... I agree with this, most farmers are poor and a poor man dont have enough money to invest. That's why some farmers sell at ridiculous prices so they'll have money at hand. |
crispgg: ... Government now has silos all around the country where they store produce ..... Where are these government silos located and how do they operate with farmers? |
Are there farm settlemens in Nkwelle Ezunaka? |
praise4real: Gud work bro....... Pls wђε̲̣rξ did get you Day Old Chick?Message not clear. |
spanzed: @Femtech i am a beginner in dis agric sector but am captiv ated with some of u guys dicussion firstly i would like 2 ask whats the diff. Bitween Quail birds and Layers?,wch is better if i would like 2 start the egg producing stuff, what ratio of male/female should i get with just an initial capital of 10k..i would upload the cage where i plan of fixing them in later,,i no 10k is so little 2 start with but trust me bro i would be dedicated big time...also i want 2 No what i would need in the cage for them do they require electricity i mean bulb...do they require drinkers..and how would i place their feed when i want 2 is there a equipment for that?if i want 2 even get the quail birds wch a fellow nairalander advise me 2go for do he said they are immune 2 disease nt like the layers and i should get a 1wk old quail bird b'cos they don't die just like the layers..what are the method of vacination u would adive me on'how would i get their feed, drugs and how much do they cost b'cos am sure that 10k would be exusted when i start in August even b4 the mnth runs out..or if u have a better offer for me just advice me!!!Thanks man expecting ur reply.. Men, I can't believe I miss this ur post for this long. Sorry for that. .. Layers are hens that specialize in egg laying while quail are those smaller birds that matures fasters and lay small eggs. There is more market for layers eggs than quail eggs, but both can be profitable if u can find a regular market for them. .. Except you want to start a hatchery biz, you don't need males. A day old chick cost about N210, that's the price I bought mine, but it can be lower than that depending on the time of the yr. .. I dont use cages, but I know that the feed and water trough are made in the form of gutter and placed outside the cage. Yes, layers need extra light at night to lay more eggs. .. I dont know much about quail yet. To get drugs, vaccines etc for layers, ask other farmers close to you or visit the market and ask. Try to get from shops close by. For vaccination plan, talk to other farmers in ur area - farmers that are succeeding, not the ones complaining. |
