RomanceRe: I'm Doubting This Date Because The Girl Is Taller by Farriel(m): 5:08pm On Jan 14, 2006
Perhaps like dating a taller girl? Haha cheesy

I for one would not a date a taller girl. It's just natural for a guy to want to be taller in a relationship, really, and if a guy of 5"10 is hanging out with a chic who's 6"2, that's quite way out of the differential range (if there's anything like that).

But hey mate, if you're really uncomfortable around this girl in public, you should opt out now. There's nothing as bad as acting akwardly in public with a girl beside you, when you've got to hold your head high and stare at people in the eyes. But by the way, how come you never realized this height difference until now? Like, was she sitting down the whole while during your first dates?

I know what it's like to have such a feeling cos I've experienced it once before. True love should erode whatever negative thoughts you could be nursing in your head about your partner, but man, at times it's damned difficult.

So, don't hurt yourself over something as trivial as this. Get out and stay out, if you can't be with a 6"2 girl.
PoliticsRe: Oyo State Governor Ladoja Impeached At Last by Farriel(m): 4:51pm On Jan 14, 2006
These issues of impeachments and other similar matters in Nigeria make no particular resonance on me. They can impeache to the end of the world and back again but it still would make no positive and significant impact on the people, so I care even less.

The grinding jaws of poverty in this country makes people indifferent to the political maneuverings around. They've evidently got more things to worry about than Ladoja, Adedibu or any politican involved in power tusslings.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Do Certifications Really Improve Your Chances of Getting a Job? by Farriel(m): 4:22pm On Jan 14, 2006
I think it helps to get certified. Lots of employers out there would first want to get back to guys with certifications. Their skills are tested in the culminating interviews, tests and other means of authenticating one's abilities in the corresponding capacity of employment.

Meaning; you're certified - you have better chances of attesting your skills than if you're not. It takes nothing out of you, save the cost of writing the exams, and opens a lot more opportunities for you than remaining uncertified.

Sure, lots of certified guys out there are very dumb in their various capacities, but they are still the same folks being given chances of employment in the first place. Afterall, which employer of labour no wan boast of the amount of certified guys in his or her camp?
ProgrammingRe: Dreamweaver vs FrontPage by Farriel(m): 3:48pm On Jan 14, 2006
Hmmm, what does the term mature being used in this context mean? That it's been around longer than Dreamweaver, or that it's being used by older people?

PhonesRe: To Send A Picture From Phone To PC by Farriel(m): 1:50pm On Jan 11, 2006
I really don't understand what Vmobile has got to do with the transferring of data between your phone and your PC. If your preferred mode of sending is via MMS (even though you can't send MMS messages to your PC, so it should even be out of the question here), then your service provider comes into play, but since this surely isn't the case here, then you don't need to care about your carrier.

Your phone and PC should surely have a wireless network connection established, or if your phone comes with a PC cable, then you could use that. But assuming your phone doesn't come with such an accessory, it should either have the common IrDA or Bluetooth ports.

If your 'PC' is a laptop, it should have any of the two ports for such a transfer to occur. But if it's literally a PC, then you should get an external version of either an IrDA or Bluetooth connector, provided your phone has got a similar feature.

Having all this on ground and you're on your way to sending as much files as you want from your phone to your PC. By the way, what sort of phone are you using and what sort of PC?
PhonesRe: Pc To Phone Sms - 10 Free / Day - Go To Www.smsdriver.com by Farriel(m): 1:35pm On Jan 11, 2006
Have tested, but found service hugely unsatisfactory.

Message I sent to my PDA for test runs have been hugely truncuated, with just two words of my initial message being a part of the SMS I received on my device, out of a total eleven words I typed in the message area on the SMS Driver page. The other words were 'Friendly Reminder - TEST message are Truncuated Intentionally to avoid misuse of our services blablabla....

What sort of free SMSing is this anyway? Even though messages arrives quickly, this is no free service man. All the same, thanks for sharing links, and BTW, have I told you Clickatell remains the best?

Music/RadioRe: Who's Listening To Marvin Gaye? by Farriel(m): 12:43pm On Jan 11, 2006
Marvin Gaye's entire recorded output signifies the development of black music from raw rhythm and blues, through sophisticated soul to the political awareness of the early 70's, and the increased concentration on personal and sexual politics thereafter.

And I think that Gaye's remarkable vocal range remains a testament for all subsequent soul vocalists, and his 'lover man' stance has been frequently mimiked

In very simple terms, Marvin Gaye's contribution to Black Music over the past four decades is immeasurable. I think he was one of soul music's premier performers whose achievements are legendary. A man I'd always love his songs.

And yes Mizkay, he's one helluva crooner. Sexual Healing's one of my favourite too.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It True: Wearing Trouser/Pants Is Condemned In The Bible? by Farriel(m): 12:26pm On Jan 11, 2006
This thread is going off as expectedly as I knew it would. Heated remarks about what's wrong from what's ridiculous to what's plain hypocritical.

Know what I think folks? If you think it's OK to wear trousers to Church, however it is on you, like Nike says; Just Do It. Alternatively, you could encourage females to do it if you're incidentally a man. And if you think it's wrong, then surely, act accordingly. It's really very simple.

Then there'd be no need to argue so strongly about such controversial issues like this one.

And to you Spike, asking when female trousers became revealing makes me wonder where you've been within the last decade or so. If Aguilera's trousers are the only ones you think are revealing, then maybe you've just got a thing for or against her. Honestly.
HealthRe: Lets Talk About Diabetes by Farriel(m): 9:20pm On Jan 10, 2006
Well Layi, comments like that would make some people feel that maybe, they're amongst the lucky ones with adequate insulin production and naturally, just go ahead consuming more sugar. And to the best of my knowledge, regardless of your insulin production, you're liable to become diabetic if you increase your sugar intake.

Within the pancreas, the Islets of Langerhans produce insulin in response to blood glucose. These islets are tiny insulin factories that sense the level of glucose in the blood stream, and produce insulin in precise proportion to that level. Therefore, following a meal, blood sugar levels will rise significantly, and the islets will release a large amount of insulin.

This insulin will cause body cells to take up the sugar, causing blood sugar to quickly return to its normal range. Once blood sugar is in the normal range, the islets will reduce the output of insulin to an idling state. In this way, the islets adjust their production of insulin on a minute-by-minute basis, always producing just enough insulin to deal with the amount of blood sugar presently in the blood stream.

Logically, a rapid increase in blood sugar would weaken the Islet of Langerhans responsible for the production of insulin, due to the increasing amount of insulin needed for the proper absorption of blood sugar. This becomes the fast track to being diabetic.

And by the way, is there any clinical form of testing one's insulin production level?

Disney is very correct in her comments. Consume less and less sugary contents, be it sodas or whatever. We all know these drinks contain a lot of sugar and she's using the most consumed sugary contents in her arguments.

And surely Seun, diabetes is caused by excessive consumption of sugar. Sugary beverages are just another form of sugar.
HealthRe: Why Do Women Hate Smoking? by Farriel(m): 9:00pm On Jan 10, 2006
I can't say for sure if Women Hate Smoking, because I've come across a lot of girls who actually smoke, and a lot who don't. As a matter of fact I've noticed that more girls prefer guys who smoke to those who don't. Like it adds style to his life-style or something.

I for one don't smoke, but I'm generally indifferent to smokers.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It True: Wearing Trouser/Pants Is Condemned In The Bible? by Farriel(m): 8:39pm On Jan 10, 2006
This is one of the most controversial issues in Christianity in Nigeria. I have no idea if this same issue is sparking lots of debates elsewhere, but down here, it sure is and the arguments are so fierce it's hard to know what is wrong from what is ridiculous.

But if your question is:  Is It True: Wearing Trouser/Pants Is Condemned In The Bible, it's definitely not easy providing a definite answer to it because there's surely no mention of trousers in the Bible. One can only presume that most remarks in the Bible are figurative, and most of the time, the wrong conclusions are made on certain comments, since the conslusions are arrived at in a literal context.

However, I think that it's wrong wearing some form of trousers to the Church. A girl can wear whatever at whenever, but it's surely wrong wearing those forms of trousers to the Church.

Ah, so what's with the First Bank site? It's even drab to me (no pun intended), for a bank like First Bank.

To all you guys in the line of DW, I say, una sabi beta tin. How else can anybody use any other web-authoring tool aside Dreamweaver? If you compare it to GoLive, I wouldn't mind much, but certainly not FrontPage, please. Whether FP 2003 or FP 3002.
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Maya And 3dMax by Farriel(m): 10:13pm On Jan 06, 2006
I use 3ds max for the modelling and animation of the little CG characters that I've put up. I found it easier to learn and even easier to use. I can't complain for it's scanline rendering which is Ok to me. Moreover, my usage of discreet combustion precipitated my use for max, since the integration between both appz is very tight.

I do a lot of digital compositing, keying and tracking, and I find 3ds max scenes working seamlessly in my composites in combustion. Most of all, it's got the biggest user base. Tutorials and users are everywhere, so you're not going to have a peculiar problem. Not to mention Reactor (bundled with 3ds max), which I find very cool for crowd simulation.

Maya is OK. It's been used for the creation of most stunning vfx shots in movies that have won Oscar awards for Best Visual Effects. When you look at most of the works that were done using Maya, you'd be tempted to say it's the best 3d app out there. To me, it was comparatively hard to learn during the while I tried using it and I quickly gave up and continued with 3ds max.

I have never tried Lightwave nor SoftImage but I hear both appz are awesome, to the users of it.

You should try out any and stick to the one you're most comfortable with, really. It takes the user to make an app great, as they say.

By the way, what's the exact area you intend specializing in? Is it Modelling, Animation, Texturing?

To those who would wish to make their ringtones themselves, I already explained how to make ringtones, well most file types except MIDI.

Check out this link https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-4341.0.html on how to make your own ringtones of your favourite songs. It's fairly easy.
PhonesRe: Where To Get .Wav Songs For My Mobile Phone? by Farriel(m): 5:04pm On Jan 05, 2006
OK Rufai,

If the files are too large, which occurs sometimes, re-convert the file using Windows Sound Recorder, reducing the bitrates and converting to the PCM format or any other preffered one.

Sound quality is obviously reduced, but file size is going to be comparatively lower.
ComputersRe: GAIM Instant Messenger by Farriel(m): 4:55pm On Jan 05, 2006
'Say No To GAIM'

That's the much I can tell you or anyone. It's an adware, a spyware and lot more than just these. I honestly think that the usage of any app should be free of hassles and bundled apps that do nothing to enhance your usability of that app.

GAIM opens up a huge backdoor for the influx of pop-ups, nasty toolbars and a lot more.

Stay away from it man...
ComputersRe: Why Win 2000, Win Xp or Windows Vista When There's Win 98? by Farriel(m): 4:45pm On Jan 05, 2006
Hmm, your question is quite difficult to understand, literally. Comparing Win 98 to Win XP is such a flawed comparison to make because they are just not on par with each other.

You say people 'say' 98 is 'far' better than XP, just on what basis is this line of comparison made and how are the results obtained? I should not even try to find out the benchmark for this comparison, or should I?

To me, the best Windows OS out there is the Windows 2000 Professional.

Windows XP goes a long way in winning peoples' hearts, but that's due to its aesthetic interface and user-friendliness. But all in all, XP is way out of the class of Windows 98, my friend.

ComputersRe: Zinox: First Computer Manufacturers In Nigeria, Really? by Farriel(m): 2:25pm On Jan 04, 2006
Alright oh, let's not fight over this. I have no Zinox computer, I know none of it's staff, I even don't know where it's office is, and for all these and more, I honestly do not think I should get myself chewed for a cause I inherently have nothing to gain.

My unwavering stance is still that they're doing well.
ComputersRe: Who Invented Microsoft Powerpoint? And What Year? by Farriel(m): 2:12pm On Jan 04, 2006
Ah, but the title of the application could be deemed as self-explanatory, couldn't it? Considering you find Microsoft associated with the title, you should naturally see them as the developer of the program.

Microsoft Office Powerpoint has been around for as long as the Microsoft Office suite has been, and that's since 1989, when the Microsoft Office first debuted on Mac platforms on both standard disks and CD ROMs.
