They're doing a lot. That's the most I can say. Evidently, there are not too many pro-Zinox guys in here, so I'd reserve my comments. They necessarily don't have to design the components themselves before they can say they are the first computer manufacturers in Nigeria. They've got credible manufacturers making these things for them so they can claim they manufacture them. This is the same with the other international branded systems. If Microsoft and Intel are their partners, in goes on in reinforcing the fact that they are serious guys in the computer manufacturing industry here in Nigeria, not actually computer assemblers. Why Microsoft never go partner with the guys for computer village, if na solely assembling be the key factor here? |
SMS GATEWAY is a service through which companies can instantly and cost-effectively send information to any number of GSM mobile phones in the world. SMS GATEWAY works simply by connecting servers to the clients databases. The client supplies the destination GSM number, message content (text or binary), and an optional identification number for tracking purposes. The sms gateway software then converts the data into SMS format and sends the message to any number of mobile phones. So, that's what you need. An SMS Gateway, of which you can hardly find free versions of. Kannel is an open source project to make a WAP gateway, it also works as an SMS gateway, so you should check it out at www.kannel.org If you wish to pay for the service, check out www.clickatell.com , www.smsxchange.com or google for other providers. |
@Seun. And how possible is such a prospect, considering how bad things could get for the average Nigerian? |
I'm a great believer in the philosophy of true attraction, which says that 'Attraction Is Not A Choice.' Meaning, you can't help whom you're attracted to. If you're caught up in the whirlwind of true attraction, you'd be head over heels in your sustained euphoric state and God help you if the subject of your craze is a LovePeddler. Most of you here saying NO, you can't, I can only feel sorry for you - cos you're the sort that would actually do it. All that it would take is just that fire of attraction, and touche - she's your wife |
I think that Zinox are doing a lot more than just assembling PCs, and they should be commended for the efforts. Not having their efforts undermined. |
Like hell it's damned stupid. I'm still an MTN subscriber but I can't complain about most of their services. If they're not giving out lots of freebies, I care all the less. If it's free SMSing, I do that from the Web, and since I spend most of my time in the office - which is hooked up, I don't think I'd want much of any mobile surfing. Yeah, Glo is doing great, but there are really no innovative customer services on ground from them. Free SMS and extra access days doesn't honestly cut ice with me. There's got to be a whole lot more before I decide to switch to any other network. I've been using my MTN line for two years now and I'm OK with it, until something really awesome is being offered by rival networks. |
You mind explaining a little more about this problem of yours? |
A hard to understand post. |
Nokia. Sony Ericsson. These are really great phone makers but Nokia undoubtedly is running away with the title of world's No.1 phone manufacturer. Whether it's as a result of the huge numbers of phones they produce or the quality of the phones, I'm not very sure which right now - but maybe, it's quality over quantity. I'd personally go for a solid Nokia phone anytime than stick to a comparatively high SE phone that isn't extensible, except their P9 series which are really excellent smartphones. My reason for a Nokia is simply because their phones use the Symbian OS, which is by far the best OS out there for mobile devices and are rugged - perfect for our Nigerian terrain. Some SEs do have the same Symbian OS, but most don't, and ruggedity is a problem to the ones that do have. For the much hyped W800, I think that's simply a solid MP3 player phone, but it's core functionality as a user-friendly phone to me is found wanting in lots of areas. All in all, to me, Nokia is better. Sony Ericsson is the closest and most powerful rival in the chase for the greatly coveted title owned by Nokia - The World's No.1 Mobile Phone Manufacturer. |
It's a great phone so yes, it should be expensive. @Hot-Angel, aight...ain't going to cry no more. And hey, what's with all that hmmm hmmm? ![]() |
Well, that's to those who are curious about the 'masked' one, right? |
![]() You're funny Sunej. Maybe you could join the multi-million naira comedy industry. |
One of the funniest posts in this section, IMO. I got laughing hard for a long time. |
Ah, Scorpio...I hadn't checked this thread in a long time. Not really forming, if you know what I mean. Hot Angel, I could get you one, but maybe at the end of January. And emmm, thanks for the compliments. They got me shedding a tear or two... |
Rather than wait till someone gets you a URL where you can obtain WAVE songs from, I think you can go ahead creating these yourself. There are tons of tools on the web you could use for that. Google for 'Audio Converters' for the conversion of your favourite MP3s and AACs into WAVE or WAV. JetAudio is a tight app for such functionalities and it's free. You can get it here: http://www.cowonamerica.com/download/ Next you need an audio cutter and joiner, which I think this might serve your purpose all too well... http://www.sagasoft.net/download/mp3cutterjoiner.exe The essence of this is to cut the part of the song you want, the parts you want to use as your ringtone, or mere listening. Take Care Man, and happy ripping, cutting, joining, converting your way into WAVEland. |
What better resource for anything on the web than Google? It's being used as a verb now - it's hard to understand why you haven't googled yet, or thoroughly. And, what exactly do you refer to when you say picture blending? Perhaps I could help you a little with that if you come clearly. |
I think that Chase can go down in history as the most ingenious thriller writer of all times. Albeit his books have got similar plots, they're as exciting as the best in their genre. Agatha Christie has been hailed the Queen of Crime, but I think that's an honour that shold be awarded to James Hadley Chase (1906-1985) - pseudonym for René Brabazon Raymond. Afterall, who else can write such an explosive novel that takes place in just a night yet thrills like it covers years - that Tiger By The Tail. I have read nearly all the books of his that I've come across, and that's over 80. Characters that I'd never forget are Poke Toholo (Want To Stay Alive?), the protagonist in Well Now My Pretty, Johnny Bianda (Knock, Knock, Who's There?), Mark Girland, Lu Silk, Jack Archer, Malik, Al Barney, John Anson, Maddox, Tom Lepski, and a host of lovely females featured. Aside Henri Charriere, Scot Turrow, Tami Hoag and some few authors whose books have made an enormous impact in my life, I would have said that Chases' was the most significant. To anyone who hasn't read any of his books, man, have you been missing. |
It's quite hard to list, considering all the great songs we've heard this year, but lemme see... Right Now - John Cena She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5 Ordinary People - John Legend These 3 top my list! |
Thank you, Seun. The seperate block of drive your business our way is one I've been thinking of and would make changes to, but I tried narrowing and it didn't seem to come off nicely on overall design. Would want ideas how best to keep yet make it look less obvious. Have increased colour shades of the vision content. By the way, here's a screen shot of the page in DW. Notice how the About Us is closely fitted to drop down list, but somehow jumps down when previewed in browser. I use Firefox, Crazy Browser and IE. Any help on that?
|
Been working on this for a couple of days now. Client is out of town and wont be back until the New Year. Would want to have a working prototype upon his return so I have my balance, but at the same time, avoid going back to change content. Completed the Services and Contact Us pages so far and would want reviews of overall design, albeit work is still days away from completion. Link is http://farriel.v26.com/pen_main.htm |
The Ngige.com looks professional to a great degree, but my interest has shifted from it's design, sadly. It's been riveted to a news item discovered on it <snip!> |
You seem extremely pleased with any thing that undermines the power of FW, don't you Timmy? Anywayz, have fun with your Photoshop, while I have fun with my Fireworks. |
I never truly enjoy jokes about religious deities, bordering on blasphemy. Nice though. |
Well, Seuntech, I think that you must understand something very important, which is that nothing is knowledge until it's universally agreed upon. Dreamweaver is an award-winning industry standard application that has been hailed by web developers the world over as the perfect tool for web design and web applications development. Besides, it was awarded the most innovative application in 2002. It is widely acclaimed as the best and mostly used web-authoring tool for professional web developers and designers. And so, I can confidently dispel your claim that FP is the best in its genre. And @ Timmy...you of all people should know better than that, don't you think? To borrow a page out of your book, 'gossh the app is not cool at all.' Not at all. |
Well Timmy, I never go to the 'xtrim' of my skills to get better results in Fireworks. The best of graphics comes from Photoshop, that is undisputable. I'm in no way placing FW on par with PS, I'm only saying it works for me. By the way, to burst your bubble, Fireworks would continue to be a part of the Macromedia Studio suite. Adobe's acquisition can in no way affect that, OK? And hey man, FW is NOT a junk app. |
Been using this PDA for some time now: http://www.gsmarena.com/qtek_1010-1164.php By the way, I was wondering if any of you folks use one, trying to discover links to PDA freeware. Googled a lot for it but unsuccessful so far...

Dreamweaver being compared to FrontPage is like comparing Word to Notepad. To sum up a simply fair analogy. As to issues regarding Adobe and Macromedia, I honestly believe that Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia Inc. would not have a profound effect on the performance of Dreamweaver or any of the Macromedia's widely used apps. The same developers who work on the Macromedia Studio design and development would still be there, doing their thing, only that they would be using IDs' with Adobe's logo. We would see a minimally changed Dreamweaver. Perhaps a different splash screen, some added menu items to reinforce Dreamweaver's integration with other Adobe programs and few other changes. Slybase, your comments that Windows and Microsoft Office are superb software aren't generally shared by serious computer users, I for one particularly. Windows have come under heavy criticisms of late and Office is simply the most used app of all time, not essentially the greatest anyway, considering OpenOffice.org |
Surely not. |

thanks for the compliments. They got me shedding a tear or two...
