So, even oyinbo girl knows we're miracle hunters ![]() |
I can understand why they must be non Yoruba indigenes of southwest. This is too much. |
Touch not my anointed! You need to hear from the pastor, perhaps he heard from his lord to do so. |
Bastard! Who brought you here? You seem to have forgotten the hardship, penury, and the never-do-well syndrome that drove you to the Southwest. Pls go! We can do without your contributions and congestion. |
Standardcosting:That's because they're not only foolish and driven by hatred, but more importantly, very ignorant. |
I remember Uniben, in those days. Everyone attended fellowships, about 50 different fellowships. Everyone jacked at night; LTs were filled up, Law, Agric, Social Science, 500LT, 218 LTs, Engineering, and the common rooms. Then, you could not help but wonder who were the hardmen. All I can say is violence solves no problem. |
Young beast, what did you achieve as a minister? Idiot!! |
historyworld031:Your view is understood and respected. Cheers! |
historyworld031:Which of the Yorubas? Yoruba turned Bini or the ones in SW? |
So edo state government now recognizes chinese communities ine edo, what an ignorant comparison 1) The Bini met the Ijaws in their current settlement when they left Ille-Ife courtesy of late Dr. Jacob U. Egharevba, an eminent traditional who him self is a benin in his book titled "A short History of benin Third Print :, 1968 page 1. (2) there was no time that any part of Ijaw Land, Gelegelegbene inclusive has been part of Bini Kingdom because all European Explorers who visited the Binin Kingdom wrote that the Ijaws were not living under the authority of the Oba of Binin; British Consul Richard Burton wrote in his book (My Wanderings In West Africa) in 1863 that "in 20 minutes, we reached Gelegele a village of Ijaw-Men". (3) According to the E.A. Kenyo in his book "the origin and the title of Yoruba Rulers" page 3. He wrote about: " The New people" the Bini thus" up till this time of Oba of {Benin} and his people were pure Yoruba and did not understand the language of the Aborigines who usually salute themselves and the new and the new people thus: "A Doo" "Dolo O" and wherever the Oba's people saw the Aborigines they used to call them "Ados" from were the name Edo was taken. The Adoo is an Ijaw prayer greeting from the root "UNDO" meaning"may you live long". (4) According to prof. Allan Rider in his book "Bini and Europeans" 1485-1897, published 1967, page 27. Which ever of the "Slave River" the portuguese frequented, the people they first met would have belonged to the Ijohs {Ijaws} which dominated the coastal belt swamp forest, extending inland to a depth of 30 to 40 mile in this region. (5) He went further to state in page 28 thus: ""The Bini Edo lived now as they seem then, outside swamp forest area... and there are no reason for believing that it ever extended to the coast. Nor are the Bini ever river faerer or cannoe men" Thus it is cheer stupidity and the worst form of traditional perfidy for these traditional rulers with what now seem a lack of academic capacity even in advisory level to have said that the Governors of Delta and Bayelsa States should call their people to order as if Ijaws in Edo State came to take permission from them before settling there whereas they met the Ijaws in Edo State there when they came from the North-East and South-West of Nigeria respectively. Again, it is clear that they knew nothing about the origin of Ijaws and so should stop making baseless statements for the interest of peace, they should know that Ijaws can be found in 6 States of Nigeria and that any attack on a single Ijaw community no matter the state it is located, is an attack on the entire Ijaw Nation and Ijaws will retaliate with maximum force!! Why is the house so quiet? ![]() If not for the useless banks we have, most of us ought not to have any headache about second tranche. Anyhow, we can't kill ourselves, send me your account no so I could send you something for festivities but you must meet the upgraded festivities milestones to receive alerts ![]() Compliments of the season to great entrepreneurs!!! |
I'm yet to see things original to Edo on this thread. A cultural festival? I can't see it in the dressing, the carnival idea, and even the masquerade on parade here. Later Bini historians will come and tell us how they taught Calabar people how to organise carnival, and Yorubas how to wear agbada! |
Hmmm!!! May God help us. |
People have forgotten that at the time in question , Yoruba was the courtyard language even the palace of Oba of Benin, so they were not really seen as strangers by the Aworis. Binis can continue to deny their origin, good for them. As for Lagos, it was never theirs. They invaded it and have lost it forever. |

![]() No, I think they've been paid and are raptured. This is Second Tranche Armageddon!! We need a lot of prayers. |
The modern and foremost African Monarch! |
A beautiful intellectual discuss being invaded by ethnic perverts. One area that most contributors have failed to explore in this matter dates back to the period of antiquity. The truth is, all these people including Bini, Nupe, Yoruba etc were one and same people who separated into tribes after thousands of years of separation and isolation, after a journey that separated them from the KhoSan(the oldest tribe) in Southern Africa, and later from the Bantu; the journey took them to Congo as one people, from where they journeyed to Sudan, and from Sudan to the Niger/ Benue confluence area. It was here first Ile Ife was established, at which point Yorubas were known as Ugbo. This ancient human settlement was destroyed by flood and another Ile Ife was founded further south; Igala separated, Igbo separated from Ugbo, the Binis sepata and intact over 70% of the tribes were birthed here. Nupe was originally Nyuife which referred to Ile Ife. It was Nyuife that was corrupted to Nupe. You'll be shocked if you study Yoruba, Igbo, and Igala languages the striking similarities, in all honesty, they're variations of same language if we can listen intelligently. So you'll continue to see things that makes you wonder how they happened. Those who named us together as Niger/Congo group weren't jokers, they were researchers. DNA mapping of African tribes released a couple of years ago shows that Igbo and Yoruba are 99.99% genetically identical.

So, Nelson Mandela Secretariat has been changed to William Ubong Secretariat This generation has lost touch with the original philosophy of Students Unionism in Uniben! Notwithstanding, I support you guys on this protest. I didn't spend up to #1,000 on registration and accommodation for the six years I spent in same Uniben. How is Hall 3 and the Maracana stadium? |
Movingon:Look at the Bini queens in all the pictures carefully. Can anyone tell me the name of the clothes they wore? No insults pls! Where's the red I see these days? |
The man has done nothing wrong, you guys are just living in the past. Kudos to the Ooni, no Oba or Ogiso actually came from the sky. They're humans but you're free to delude yourself as long as you like. Let your city remain a relic while you go and hustle elsewhere. If the people of those places had remained archaic in their thinking, where would you have gone to hustle. Traveling and relating with commoners takes nothing away. I wish the Oba a pleasant stay in Abuja and a safe journey back home with his entourage. |
Africa might regret this just like Gaddafi's. I'm not sure the change is about the masses or the country, but more about who gets what , when, and how. |
proudlyYoruba:A state or part of a state? |
step1:Go and ask the palace. Yoruba was the COURT LANGUAGE in the Benin palace for centuries. |
meforyou1:Very true on paper. How many Efosa, Omorodion, Osagie do you see anywhere in Lagos hierarchy? There's a political difference between Lagos indigenes and our brothers from the SW that is brewing those statements. So , don't get carried away. Solve the problem and see who would choose being a Bini man given the opportunity to be a Yoruba man. More so, its only applicable to less than 5% of the total population of Lagos indigene because, Lagos in that sense refers to Lagos island, some of whose indigenes truly came from Benin. |
For me , this is a welcome development. We're no more in 1500, The Oba must leave his palace if there's need to do so. Kabiyesi o! Oba atopegheeeeee!!!! |
Where are the prayer warriors in the house? All obstacles in the way of honest grantees must fall! Hmm! This matter get as e be oh! Happy Sunday ![]() |
Useless argument! Benin kingdom itself is an appendage of Yoruba land. Benin Obas are Ife princes. |
GrandFinale2017:They're not our cousins! They have their history, we have our history!! |
OAUTemitayo:Who are you to say that? We have no problem with Ijaws, why are you painting a wrong picture? Yoruba is on it's own, Bini is on it's own, and we side nobody. |
If he's Itsekiri, then he's our brother Just the way Omawunmi is our sister, in good and bad times, the Itsekiris are our kits and kins. The name also sounds Bini, in which case the blame should be taken to their doorstep as Bini is distinct from Yoruba.Anyway, who knows how much is on offer? It doesn't matter where he comes from ![]() |
No big deal really! What do you think is happening in other professions? Engineering is worse! What percentage of engineering graduates ever get opportunity to practice engineering? They're sadly everywhere vying for the same jobs with accountants, sociologists, linguists, teachers and we think that is not a problem. |
