I don't know BUT it does not seem so.

I feel better sticking to a pioneer than to someone who buys technology, rips it apart, studies it, and then creates a clone of the same.

Unless there is proof that the clone is better than the original.

God will help Nigeria, this is something that we can start producing Nigeria but my concern is that CAN NIGERIA PATRONIZE MADE IN NIGERIA PRODUCTS ? Apart from Cables and few other products people always scared of made in Nigeria product.

By the way, what you do think about country of manufacture with regards to quality for Panasonic and Daikin.
For example the Panasonic made in China is quite cheaper than the one made in Malaysia. Their staff claim its the exact same in terms of quality. They claim its only cost of production that makes the made in China one cheaper. Is that possible with price difference of of about 100k?

Big question.

Here is how I look at it.

iPhones are made in China and no one complains about the quality.

That said, I went for the Panasonic made in Malaysia and not China.

Somehow I felt that they are better, no empirical evidence in support though.

The final decision seems to be more emotional than rational.

Apart from the country of manufacture, you should also consider the features/pricing.

There is the economy model, there is the standard model and there is the premium model from both brands.

That said, Daikin is made in India, last I checked. At least those coming to MEA

True. I have known about Daikin for over 10 years now even before they were a thing in Nigeria per say. They are just as good as Panasonic to be honest. I'll reach out to Ace and compare prices.

Agreed, recently spoke with the installer, and he is scared of mentioning pricing because the figures are scary.

I prefer Panasonic and Daikin because they are built to a more exacting standard than the other brands you mentioned.

On another note, how long does the AC run for with your Solar batteries and how many batteries do you rely on in powering the AC?

Currently don't run the ACs on solar. Planned to but holding on until I complete my market research to guarantee that I made the best use of funds as at the time of purchase.

By the way there is an interesting fact for you.

I have always had Panasonic or Daikin AC in mind but with the way their prices have skyrocketed, it may not be feasible. Sometime in July or so i was at Panaserv (main official Panasonic distributor) and below was the prices I got. That time it was already like a 30% increase to what I had seen online few weeks before I came. I went there last week and got the new quote on paper


FEGE.ITOK are these prices close or far from what you got when you bought your Daikin?

When you get several quotes, you get a better view of the market.

The guys I ended up buying from were over 100,000.00 cheaper than the guys whose quote you posted.

The is no difference between the Daikin and the Panasonic sold at either outlet so why spend extra I thought?

How about calling that number to compare about now and reporting back to the forum?

If not for being occupied, I could have done that for you.

I opted for Daikin because 1. Daikin was cheaper than Panasonic and 2. Daikin is a big name in the AC industry globally. A few minutes spent on research opened my eyes to that fact.

Thanks, this is the one in my office with 17 internal cool and hot splits, in my opinion is not as efficient as the older regular ones. When the weather is extremely hot we can’t fill it as much. The AC’s guys department are forced to turn the chillers on.

Well, over to the professionals. Could it be a sizing issue? Either the unit is too small or the room(s) are too big for the application?

I cannot say which is which.


When I got my A/C I calculated the area and used some online calculators to determine the appropriate size of AC for the intended space

Thanks, this is amazing they are not multiple splits that as one single condenser outside unit with 4 to 8 split internal units. My concern about this particular unit is cost of energy consumption. Although I understand it can be programmed to use any of the units when needed, but the condenser unit is running at capacity which I think is not cost efficient. Please, if you don’t mind can you share more lights on it, or if possible post what it looks like for others that be interested to learn about it thanks.

I am partial to Japanese technology.

got prices/vendors on a spreadsheet, so do your own due diligence.

I don't know if things have changed since then.

The multi-split system is so beautiful, I absolutely recommend it over individual split units especially if you are environmentally conscious or want to conserve power usage

That was what someone told me a couple of days ago. I contacted EMC. I understand that they are Daikin's main supplier in Nigeria, but EMC hasn't responded to my WhatsApp enquiry though they have read the message.

I'll wait and see if they respond in the course of the next week.

They should be guillotined - my current location the electrician was paid for 4mm2 wire for all AC and heater lines, enough to cover both Live and Neutral and Earth wires, he switched the Earth wires to 1.5mm2 because 'he felt 4mm2 was overkill'. I fired him immediately I discovered the breach and got him to pull out the 1.5mm2 and deliver the 4mm2 he was paid for. Yes 4mm2 earth wire per AC is overkill but na code be that (to match the main conductors), na wetin I want be that and na wetin I pay for be that.

A recent job, the client had AC neutral wire looped to some lighting points, reco to separate the wires and the electrician goes to use the existing 2.5mm2 for the lights and 1.5mm2 for the AC 'because he only saw 1.5mm2 to buy'

I quietly texted the client to better go find a proper electrician else I would just hands off support.

Electricians really do the most and it is so difficult to find a half decent one. Most do not even have a basic multimeter for any informed troubleshooting.

They installed my A/C and cut off the earth wires. My brand new Daikin A/C. Correcting it first thing on Monday.

I learned that Nigerian markets are not truly free and fair.

They are run like a mafia.

They set pricing and no one can go below.

That is another issue.

If you try to sell below the agreed price, then you will run into issues.

Don't know how true this is, maybe others can confirm or disprove.

In my opinion, depot price of cement is yet to increase. It's just wholesalers who are running this price increase

In some climes, people keep records of prices and possible events that caused the price to go up or down.

I seem to distinctly remember that around this time last year that every week till the end of the year that the price of cement kept going up.

My point is that I was building about this time last year so I only have 2 years of records, but it seems like it makes sense to ensure that you buy everything you need for construction on or before the last day of November if you wish to escape the seasonal price changes.

This is not a related dollar price hike.

I know someone who keeps records of the exchange rate of the dollar to the Naira for the past 30 years and with the help of such data, he can almost predict if the dollar will rise or fall and that ensures that his decisions are backed by actionable data.

If you are in the construction industry, you should keep such records and most importantly use them to drive your decisions.

The biggest difference between how businesses are conducted here and in the first world is the reliance on data (collecting data, analyzing that data to produce more data) on which future and current decision making is based

I actually had this running in my house, 1 Photocell powering 8x 30w VellMax Flood lights. they go on at dark and go off on day break.
I then did a little upgrade to it by adding Solar Street Lights, they go on at dark and go off at daybreak too, but during rain season when the solar street lights don't get enough charge, they would turn off on or before midnight, So I changed my Photocell to a programmable timer that turns on the 30W flood lights by midnight and turn them off by 6AM..

Check jiji for electric washer,does not use petrol but electricity. Got mine for 70k brand new. Your have to buy additional hose that's about 10 to 15 feet long and also have a running tap for maximum pressure,speed and delivery.

So I have decided to make all my outdoor lighting smart by installing photocell sensors, so there is no need to turn them off and on, they should turn on and off automatically.

If anyone has done this before, which I believe someone has, please let me know what brand you recommend.

As for the indoor lighting, I which to install motion sensors, so if there is no one in the room, the lights should go off. So same question again, please let me know what brand you recommend.

It will make my alternative power setup last longer.

I have seen some Karcher washing machines tho that dispense steam, hot and cold water in optionally regulated pressure.. But their reliability is what I no know nothing about.. The fact that there are very few of such washing machines found in car washes says a lot about their reliability I guess..

There are sha some locally fabricated washing machines tho that do the job with less hassle.. I have seen them in Owerri and Aba mostly

But in the whole, I no sabi wetin you wan wash for car wey a tap connected spray gun no go dey enough for... Make you no go use hot water spray brainbox or rupture one hose o.
