i will say two points that might make you see thing different

1 most african parents dont like to be corrected by their own kids nomatter how wrong they are. The same people who send you to skol to learn and when correct them with something that you learnt from skol, they say you are becoming big headed etc by its same person who sent you to skol to learn.

2 Married people are difficult to deal with, as sometimes they set each other for arguements eg you said was wrong but you might know they have underlining issue from previous issues that were not resolved, so a small issue is overblown due to previous unsolved issues and anger. There is such a device.

Egunmogaji used it in his build.

BUT he had to buy it himself.

The tiler did not have it.

It isn't even expensive. Maybe it's a lack of exposure or a lack of demand from the clients that lets them get away with less than perfect jobs

Please get 2 half cut Jinko or Era of about 450 watts , you are better of. Wish we had Shingled panels in Nigeria which is 30% more power that these normal power , Sometimes shingles goes over 10% the rated power.

Theoretically You can increase your battery bank to any capacity you wish as long as you maintained the 24v .
Practically, many issues will come into play mainly how you maintain the heath of batteries in a very large battery bank and charge adequately.

I was wondering if my inverter had some circuitry that will shut down if it senses that I am using more than 2 batteries.

if you are an engineer you will as well know that hybrid inverters do come with inbuilt charge controllers. except they both came with PWM controllers.

now here comes the answer to your question, it is possible to charge both batteries with one 60-80a MPPT charge controller.

here is how you will do it.

your 1.5kva must be 24v powered, so after you have connected in series to get 24v, for both inverters, get two more cables and connect both 24v in parallel, connect the positive side of your controller at the positive side of the battery and the negative at the other battery negative terminal. your controller must sense them and confirm them as 24v.

you are going to need a minimum number of 9pcs of 350w solar panels. to be able to charge both batteries .

I have 2 Homaya 1.5 Hybrid Inverters, but from every indication the inbuilt charge controller is PWM. I plan to use a MPPT to take advantage of the better technology and not be tied to the 1000W panel maximum per inverter. My issue is that I don't wish to destroy my batteries in the process. Hence the question.

I saw Alaba sellers removing original manufacturer stickers on solar panels and putting their Canadian solar stickers.

The fruad going on in this country is too much, it's better you buy something with original sticker than buy fake Canadian solar panel at exorbitant price.

This is the reason why when I want to make a purchase I first decide on what to buy and then research who has a right to sell that item, and then only buy from such a person, unless any other seller can provide acceptable proof of chain of custody.

By doing such research I was able to buy electronic equipment at prices well below those advertised generally at my location while at the same time purchasing them from source. This has happened to me with not just my inverter experience which I narrated a while ago but most recently with TVs.

Summary, it pays to do your due diligence.

You know how hard money is to come by, ensure that anyone who wants you to part with your money is prequalified by successfully scaling a series of hoops before you ever release funds.

I think that given the volume of cement mix to the volume of stones, I am home and dry and the quality of the concrete footing has not been negatively impacted.

But I am assuming you are asking where since I have rebar, I have included big stones, don't know if it is appropriate to call those granite or gravel, maybe rocks is the appropriate word before pouring the concrete.

I very much doubt. But then it depends on where, in some parts of the house just a different mortar mix stopped capillary action, but in other parts of the house, it was not enough.

Which is what made me start these extreme remedial actions.

I forgot to add, because the previous posts were not meant to be comprehensive.

I had to have all the gravel washed so they were clean and had absolutely no soil clinging to them before they were allowed to form the base on which the concrete footing rests

In effect then, decisions taken at either the building or designing stage can mitigate capillary action.

Here is the science behind why unlike the customary practice, I cannot allow compacted laterite to make direct contact with my concrete floor or concrete masonry unit (CMU) but introduced gravel in the remedial works that I am doing.

That is a very perfect capillary break.

4 inches is good, 6 inches is even better.

To make the best use of my 2 No 1.5kva hybrid inverters what parameters should I consider when picking an MPPT.

There is no problem. That is connecting your batteries in parallel. This increases the ameperage of the batteries and not the voltage.

Your current 24v system is two 12v 200ah batteries connected in series. This increase the voltage to 24v but keeps the amperage at 200ah.

You just need another set of two 12v 200ah batteries connected in series making 24v 200ah then connected to your current setup in parallel to increase your amperage from 24v 200ah to 24v 400ah. However, you will need to make sure that your batteries are of the same brand and make. Also, its not advisable to mix new and old batteries as the old one will be pulling the new one down. Also, you will need to ensure your wiring is redone at same length for each connection. See the attached wiring diagram. Substitute the 6v for 12v in the picture.

In that case will leave the two separate 24v 200ah systems as is and then plan a new bigger 48v based system.'

I noticed this belting and tiling is a common practice. People say it's to slow down capillary and also protect that part of the building from water splash. But I personally do not fancy it.

Is it really necessary or just for aesthetics? Someone help pls..

It doesn't slow it down.

It masks it.

Eventually it will show up, but much later.

If you want to stop capillary action install a capillary break or several layers of capillary breaks.

Here is what I am currently doing

1. I installed a 4-inch-thick gravel bed (next time I plan to make it 6 inches)

2. I installed plastic sheeting aka damp proof membrane (double layer), we don't have standards here, so I hope that the double layer will help. The British Standard for DPM is at least 1200 gauge (or 300 micrometres). But no one in the market understands those terms. I don't have the time to import them.

3. I then installed a 4-inch-thick concrete footing (using a 1-part cement to 2 parts sand (stone dust) to 3 parts coarse aggregate [gravel] mix)

4. I am waiting for a couple of days to pass. Following which I will install another damp proof membrane before laying blocks on the concrete footing.

Still waiting for the water to pass through all those defences to attack my walls.

Simple answer Yes, as long as they are the same nominal voltage. You connect in parallel which means you just connect each inverter as you would have connected it if the other one does not exist.
I almost always connect my system with redundant parts because i travel a lot and if there is an issue ,it will be easy to direct Madam on phone without allowing anyone to tinker with my system in my absence.

As you know,if you use both simultaneously you will drain your battery faster is all. If both charge simultaneously too, note not to exceed what the battery can take.
Make sure You can isolate/disconnect the PVs of each hybrid inverter or CC if there is need for it .
Continue flexing you setup.

The other question on my mind is I have the Homaya 1.5KVA which uses 2 batteries and is a 24-volt system.

What would happen if I connected more than 2 batteries provided that I still maintained the 24 volt system (in other words, increased the capacity beyond 2 batteries but kept everything else the same)

Are you talking about a Parallel Setup? If yes Inverters must corm to same config and rules of Parallel Connection must be obeyed.

Some Inverters can be paralleled from 2 units till 12 Units and they must be connected to the same Battery Bank, Same Input and Output for Single Phase, and 3 Phase rules must be followed where applicable.

The basis of my question is that I have a hybrid inverter and I have come to learn that I can connect an MPPT CC directly to the batteries that the hybrid inverter is connected to.

What I wanted to know is if it is also possible to connect two independent hybrid inverters to the same battery bank.

Note that I am not connecting the inverters to each other in the sense of stacking them like some manufacturers allow to increase capacity.

I mean by that the loads connected to let's say both inverters are totally unrelated and unconnected.

Is this done? Or can this be done?

I saw your post and was waiting for time to respond.

I don't fully understand your picture because of the angle that you are taking it.

When I was mounting my MDF slat wall, I noticed that if I kept the dimensions from the ground to the left and right equal that there would be a very visible slant, the solution was to tilt it a little. Once it was tilted a little I got a straight line. What that means is that the floor is not level but sloping. That could be the solution you seek.

As for the part about tiles, I don't think I am following so I cannot comment on that.

Since I also did a two-tone paint job, I also noticed that less than straight lines where the wall meets the ceiling. I never noticed the lack of straightness when I did a one tone paint job.

Big question, did they use a laser level to get the perfect line when setting this up for you?

I programmed and scheduled the Gen to run itself without giving output for 15 Minutes every Sunday 8am. While the function of the Battery Charger is to keep the Gen Battery alive using AC supply from my domestic connection.

About what you read of Tubular Batteries, yes they evaporate into the air within the installation corner and should not be inhaled. If you have money, go for Lithium but be sure you respect Lithium principles because the can be very dangerous too if wrongly deployed or configured.

Inverters that are Wall mountable will be on the and those that are table top are kept on top of a table-like rack mostly on top of the Battery rack to keep things close and compact.

The "Tubular Gang" are meant to be decommisioned and sold off after fully testing the Lithium batteries and their capabilities. Hehehehe, That my Generator is a 3Phase 6.5Kva Birtoli Gen and was retired since almost 4 years now by my 4 Years old former Inverter (3Kva iPowerPlus) Which I have now installed for my mom in Lagos (Picture Attached Below). So the small Gen is just there rusting out.

I have learnt that once a week or once a month you should still run the generator, not so much to use it, but so it does not go bad. Now that I am partially dependent on my inverters, I can go months without running the generator but whenever I try to run it, it doesn't come on until after several tries.

I am on this thread because the love of my life is a nurse, so I need to understand the pressures she faces in her job and because she like some Nigerian nurses plan to relocate to the US.

But as someone whose mum left her job to take care of her last kid, and who refused to take a job in the UK because she could not go with her kids who were minors. I just had to comment.

They kept cutting. I had to go to Shoprite to get the galvanized binding wire on their shelves. Problem solved. That one never cuts when being tied and twisted.

Only the motorized one guarantees precision cuts and cuts that are all the same versus slight differences between pieces with the other one.

Some people don't care, there are others who get irritated by those slight differences.
