irokoteam5: Cheyenne| 36-year old James McIntyre from Wyoming, is certainly an unusual kind of success story. Born with a rare combination of chromosomal disorders, his sperm has a 99.86% chance of generating boys, a specificity which has allowed him to make a fortune on the international semen market. His motto: “It’s a boy, or you get your money back!”

The young and ambitious entrepreneur from Cheyenne, has already opened his own sperm bank named McIntyre Fertility Bank. The facility claims to have already dispatched samples of Mr. McIntyre’s sperm in over 110 different countries over the last four years, suggesting that the concept gender selection for children could be more universal than what most people think. The satisfaction rate is exceptional amongst customers, as only two of the tens of thousands of children born from the sperm samples happened to be girls, leading to those customers being entirely refunded.

Politics › Re: I’ve Given Igbo Positions They’ve Never Had – Jonathan. by felifeli: 9:30am On Sep 05, 2014
PhockPhockMan: President Goodluck Jonathan has applauded the attention his administration is giving the Igbo, whom he said, are well represented in his government and are being appointed to positions which no previous administrations ever gave them.

The President also said the Igbo had also benefited from many projects completed by his government in the South-East.

He said these during this year’s World Igbo Congress Day in Huston, United States of America.

The event had held on Saturday, but a copy of the President’s speech at the ceremony was only made available to journalists by the presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Thursday.

President Jonathan, who said his administration’s appointments were based on competence, equity and fairness, noted that he would leave it to “historians” to determine whose administration had done more for the Igbo in terms of federal appointments.

The President said, “Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, in pursuit of productivity and excellence, we have appointed competent and capable men and women to positions of high authority and strategic responsibility in all fields of national endeavour.

“In our dogged determination to develop our country, the Igbo are well represented and in some of these appointments, the Igbo are having them for the first time.

“Some have said that this government has done more in appointments than any other in our history for the Igbo, but that is a matter for the pundits and historians. Let me state that appointments by this administration, across the country, will continue to be based on equity, fairness and competence.

“Even when some utilise politics to undermine our commitment to fairness and justice, we will deploy the principle of Federal Character to progressively correct it. No part of Nigeria under my leadership will be shortchanged.”

He added that in terms of projects and policies, the Igbo had benefited from his administration’s commitment.

Accordingly, the President said his administration had completed many federal roads, which were left in bad state by previous administrations.

He said, “Similarly in projects and policies, we have continued to do our best. Throughout the South-East, we inherited federal roads in very poor conditions.

“In spite of the highly competitive demand and constraints on funding, we have taken on most of the major roads, realising the impact that their improvement will have on business and life in our country.

“The Owerri-Onitsha road, which was under construction at the outset of my administration, has been virtually completed. Three other very important roads, the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, the Enugu-Port Harcourt road and the Nguzu-Edda-Nkporo-Ohafia road which cuts across Ebonyi and Abia States, are steadily progressing. Our hope is that improved budget and Sure-P funding will see quicker action in the months ahead.

“The Ohaozara-Ishiagu road and Enugu-Abakaliki road are some of those that have progressed to good standard. Further attention will be focused on the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road, which is already being addressed remedially by the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency.

Nairaland General › Re: Boko Haram Invades Bama, Meets Resistance From Nigerian Troops by felifeli: 1:58pm On Sep 01, 2014
talk2smat: Boko Haram militants have invaded Bama, the second largest city in Borno state with the aim of taking over the town, but residents told
Several civilians including the Emir of Bama have already fled to the state capital Maiduguri to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Eyewitnesses said that the sect arrived the vicinity of Bama early today and began firing mortars, RPGs and hurling grenades into the city.

The battle was still raging as at the time of publishing this report. Bama is a strategic city with over 500,000 inhabitants. If the sect captures Bama with all the military hardware in the city, then it just days away from capturing Maiduguri which less than 40 miles from Bama.

Politics › Re: We Have A Lot Of Cowards In The Nigeria Army by felifeli: 1:26pm On Aug 31, 2014
Josh316: We have a serious issue with our nation's army. I just watched the Attack on Gwoza Army base and what I saw is shocking and left me speechless!

The Boko Haram pigs seized FIVE ARMOURED TANKS (Not APC carriers, Tanks with tracks like Caterpillar trucks and cannons) and cartons and boxes of ammunition both light and heavy ammunition. This is coming from the same soldiers who keep complaining that they are poorly equipped. And I dare say, what equipment again if not bullets to feed the guns and mortars and shells to shell the advancing enemy? Aside the weapons and tanks captured, about 10 soft skinned vehicles including brand new hiluxes which were used to cart away these ammunition. It is worthy to note that the video captured some of the soldiers RUNNING away into the hills.

I am not a soldier nor do I claim to be knowledgeable in military tactics but the 'tactical maneuver' touted by the military command to justify the current attitude of soldiers refusing to fight and rather scampering is really worrisome! It worries me because slowly and steadily, these boko pigs are carrying out their campaign and will soon decide to try to march down south. We can argue all we want and play the ethnic card and say its a Northern Problem, or e no concern me because I'm from the west or east, but one day we might wake up and discover these guys at our doorsteps in Onitsha, Aba, Lagos, Ibadan, wielding weapons and taking away our freedom.

We need to make noise now to ensure that the Govt adopts a more radical approach to recruitment of soldiers and give severe punishments to Army commanders who allow their Army bases fall so cheaply to the enemy. I'm really angry right now and I think things need to change.

Please let our comments be non-political or religious based, but sensible and rational...
You are absolutely right sir. Nigeria Army is full of cowards. We need brave people like you, and the sky heaven will be the limit for them.

Politics › Re: President Jonathan Sick, Flown to Germany for Urgent Medical Treatment by felifeli: 10:08am On Aug 23, 2014
ceo4eva: Contrary to official claims that President Goodluck Jonathan travelled to Germany on a private visit, LEADERSHIP authoritatively gathered yesterday that the president actually took ill and left for Germany to seek medical care.

Efforts to get a confirmation from the Presidency failed up until the time of going to press, as several calls to his spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, did not go through and he didn’t respond to an email enquiry either.

Similarly, the senior special assistant to the president on public affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, did not pick or return several calls to his mobile number last night.

President Jonathan left for Germany yesterday after performing the closing ceremony of the National Conference on Thursday.

Prior to his departure, presidential spokesman Abati had issued a terse statement saying the president would be making a private visit to Germany as from Friday (yesterday)and would be accompanied by some of his principal aides.

It was gathered that the president, on arrival in Germany, headed for a private hospital for medical check-up.

It could not however be confirmed if he went to the same hospital he had visited with his wife last year when the first lady faced some health challenges.

Before his sudden departure for Germany on Thursday, President Jonathan was billed to host members of the just-concluded National Conference to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, but the programme was cancelled at the dying minute.

Although no official reason was given for the cancellation, it was gathered that the development was connected with the president’s state of health which required urgent attention.

An authoritative source in the Presidency told LEADERSHIP that despite assurances that the president would return soon from his trip, it was not likely as his health situation was not too good. He said there was uneasy calm and anxiety in the Presidential Villa yesterday over the state of health of the president.

Meanwhile, the situation has also elicited concern from prominent Ijaw (President Jonathan’s ethnic group) political leaders, some of whom converged on the home of a prominent elder statesman from the ethnic group in Abuja to deliberate on the matter. A source privy to the meeting hinted that the Ijaw sons were considering sending a delegation to visit the president.

The source said before the meeting ended, it was agreed that clearance would be obtained from the Presidential Villa on whether the president is in a state to receive visitors before it would be decided on who would visit him.

Some people had speculated about Mr Jonathan’s health just before his trip to Washington, DC, United States, where he attended the 2014 US-Africa Summit early this month.

Politics › Re: Between Aregbesola And Tinubu, Who Should Lead The Yorubas? by felifeli: 4:44pm On Aug 20, 2014
OlusolaWarrior: For quite some years, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was seen as the leaders of the Yorubas. There was a time when the likes of Late Sen. Abraham Adesanya was the voice and image of the Yoruba people. Bola Tinubu, a political stalwart assumed that position even while he was the governor of Lagos State. He was embraced by almost every Yoruba who saw him as the Moses to lead the region to a new glory reminiscent of that created by Awolowo. Recently, there are people - even in Yorubaland - that see Tinubu, the Messiah, as an obstacle to the progress of the Yoruba nation. While this position is arguable, one cannot deny that Tinubu no longer enjoys the broad appeal he once had among his people. Governor Rauf Aregbesola's rise to stardom in the South-West began while he was a commissioner in Lagos State in Tinubu's regime. His victory in getting the courts to reverse the electoral outcome that produced Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Governor of Osun State was seen as a remarkable point in his political career. People saw him as a triumphant and relentless warrior - one who would not allow injustice to be meted out to the people. His passion to see to it that justice was done and his valiant efforts in that regard was no doubt admired. Gradually, he won the hearts of Osun indigenes in his first term of office. The people thought it befitting to cast their votes for him a second time, which saw to it that he was victorious at an electoral process that could be described as free and fair. With Tinubu's gradual decline and Aregbesola's gradual climb, can the Yoruba people accept Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the leader of the region?

Eldavido1: Foreign newspapers not carrying the news is not enough excuse to discard it as baseless. Goodnews coming from Africa has never being their priority. What I think maybe happening here is a case of mix up identity, because only Vanguard gave name to the patient. The first release by Vanguard was without name but the second has a name attached. Probably the got their infor wrong. But definitely someone was discharge because I can't see what the minister of health stand to gain in lying. Nobody was expecting him to perform miracle in the first place. And mark you he said there are about five more people improving from the infection which is not strange giving that the disease only kills about 55% of does infected in the current epidemic.
This is a very worrying reply.

Health › Quarantined Doctor's Miraculous Ebola Recovery - The Danger Of Misinformation by felifeli(op):
A thread opened yesterday said :

Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, a Senior Consultant of First Consultant hospital, Lagos, who was infected with the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) by the Liberian- American carrier, Patrick Sawyer, has made a miracle recovery and has been discharged from the Isolation centre in Lagos.
I would rejoice with the patient if this was true because she is such a delightful woman. However here we have a case of a patient who the news says has made a recovery , but the problem is that her family don't know what the fvck everyone is talking about because their loved mother and sister is still unconscious in a coma and prayers and drugs are still being sought from all over the world to bring her back to life. I wish the press and stvpid government will one day get their sh.it together and stop nonsense announcements. Meanwhile if you have a single prayer to give to anyone today please give to Dr Ameyo Adadevoh. Thank you.
Properties › Re: COREN Wants Death Sentence For Owners Of Collapsed Buildings by felifeli: 1:58pm On Aug 17, 2014
Omooba77: As part of moves to sanitise the building and construction industries to minimise building collapse and shoddy construction jobs, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, has stressed the urgency for a law to make owners of buildings that collapse as a result of using quacks or cheap materials and kill people to be visited with capital punishment.President of the institution, Kashim Ali, likened the situation to that of medical doctors who were charged with murder if, as a result of carelessness or quackery, they cause the death of their patients. He spoke yesterday at a news briefing to herald the 23rd Engineering Assembly scheduled for August 19 and 20 in Abuja as part of COREN’s efforts to update members’ knowledge, share ideas on emerging issues in engineering and to network. Its theme is “Commercialising Engineering: An Imperative for National Development.”Noting that he was underscoring the need for a major deterrent such as death penalty for building collapse in Nigeria because they were thoroughly embarrassed by the incidence, Ali said: “We have advocated that anybody who builds a house or structure that collapses and kills people should be killed. So, if that law is there, people who are not trained will not venture into it. If somebody who is a doctor commits quackery and kills somebody, they will charge him or her for murder, but not in the case of collapsed buildings; nobody is charged.“Often, because people who have these structures always have a way around the situation, nobody deals with them. That is why we are urging the National Assembly to go a step further.”He also lamented that although COREN had been using the police to deal with the incidence of building collapse in the past, it had not had the desired impact because “we found that the people who they charged to court were only the poor people. It’s that mason who calls himself an engineer that was being taken to court. The real person who got a million naira project would not go to court.”He explained that it was to find a more capable institution to handle the situation that his organisation decided to partner with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offence Commission, ICPC.According to Ali, their apparent fixation with quackery was because it was the greatest challenge to the engineering profession.Still in pursuance of an industry free of irregularities, COREN has ordered all registrable firms to register with it, saying it was now compulsory and any defaulter would be handed over to the ICPC.“COREN recently signed an MoU with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offence Commission, ICPC, to prosecute people who commit infraction of COREN Act and are not on the register.“Directly connected to the above is the recent order of Council that Registry must commence the licensing of engineering firms to practise in Nigeria.“By this, it is now compulsory for the following categories of engineering firms to procure COREN licence to practice: Engineering consulting firms; engineering construction firms; engineering manufacturing/production firms; engineering maintenance and service providers; engineering inspection, testing and laboratory service firms; and vendors of engineering machineries, equipment, plants and materials, etc”, Ali said.

Its going to go a long way in boosting the confidence of the care givers and increase the morale and fighting spirit of the other infected victims to survive.
I want to believe our standard of living is higher than those countries with 60% mortality rate of the EVD or at least those were impoverished people in their rural area with not so high immunity. Nothing stops the mortality rate being 40% or lower here with good nutrition and health supplements.
