I heard it on the news this morning that workers in Osun state have not been paid salaries for many months. This is wicked and terrible and the government should look into this . What do you want these people and their dependants to eat ? Propaganda cooked up by Osun defender newspaper ? This is shameful in a democratic government. |

Actually I think that is unreasonably ambitious. First any third party hosting will close you down . Reason : 1 billion hits in 24 hours evenly spread (not likely) comes to about 42million hits per hour and 12000 hits per second. This would under possible circumstances count as a Denial of Service attack .Forget it. Set your sight lower: 1. Employ Beaf to blog for you about Aregbesola 2. Circulate it to all ACN sympathisers on NL Sit back and watch your Adsense income grow.Good luck. |

LOL Bros Aregbe for show !! A few weeks ago on this same Nairaland when it was posted that Bros is going to build expressways to Lagos and ogun State and even to London, I criticized that decision. My suggestion at that time was for Osun State to buy rolling stock , and some ACN thugs on NL nearly beat me to death for being so stupid. Now Bros Aregbe has suddenly got idea to buy rolling stock instead and the same ACN thugs that nearly beheaded me at that time are now saying what a great man our ACN Bros Aregbe is. Wonders shall never end in Osun State. If it wasn't my state I would just ignore it as just another failed Nigerian project. Up Aregbe ! Aregbesola mi gboro titi , o mi gboro ! |

true2god: @ poster,
this topic is not ok at all. i need a more reasonable post than this. Flooding is a global problem even in developed countries and as bad as any natural disaster you can think of. It has nothing to do with Lagos state govt just as the march tsumani of 2011 has nothing to do with the Japanese govt.
You can suggest ways of handling or even preventing excess flooding in your area. Thank you bro. I think what people should be trying to reason out is 'how do you DRAIN a coastal land that is NATURALLY BELOW SEA LEVEL " ? The problem with Lagos is that nobody NEEDS TO live there ; you can live somewhere else. But if you CHOSE TO live in Lagos, you should just learn to live with its natural problem without complaining. |

grabdbull: You are not even making sense!!! Road transport as the "civilised (sic)" world knows is the most blah, blah, blah. Why do they still build roads in the civilized world then? Someone travels to Abuja in his personal car, and is on his way back, should he park his car in Oshogbo and proceed to Lagos by rail? Guy, say something else.
This road will serve as an alternative to the Lagos - Ibadan expressway, thereby saving commuters a lot of man-hours that would ordinarily have been lost. Osun State is a winner, because they can collect tolls on the road. Is it so difficult to understand? I never as a rule insult people on NL threads but I will make this one a different case primarily because it involves a state in which I have a personal stake , and I am not here making excuses for an incompetent administrator or being a party apologist. I am extremely emotional about this single issue which concerns a state in which most of the roads in it are presently ill-maintained because there are no funds , yet a nutcase is making more capital commitments to building more of them. Charge toll ? What a laugh; we all know where such money eventually ends up. Mr Gradbull I think your stupidity is extremely outstanding , only because I presently can't think of an insult that will not bring me down to your pedestrian level about knowledge of how infrastructure development works. |
Politics › Re: Aregbesola Awards Contract To Construct Highway To Ogun, Lagos by felifeli: 1:13pm On Sep 05, 2011 |
Gbawe: Bros, Eko Ile is correct . You cannot just say "Do you just build roads like that without considering the economic or environmental implications?". Dude, what on Earth are you talking about? you sound like the many who just criticise ,not out of objectivity, but for the sake of it and because they have an axe to grind. How can you just level criticism that makes no sense and expect folks to view you as different to those just routinely criticising, without even inspecting issues, ridiculously? What are the "economic or environmental implications" for creating options to the people that vastly improves the prospect of moving goods and people around while reducing damaging congestion and harmful traffic jams that is costing Nigerian States a lot in terms of reduced productivity with how folks use 6 hours to complete a journey that should ordinarily be 50 minutes? Too many empty criticism being thrown around these days and I am afraid yours is one of it. See others below and note the "perps" all getting 'owned'. Come correct abeg. Give credit where due and criticise objectively. Peter Tosh (Nairalander) gets it correct when he wrote;
It is obvious the attacks criticism of the ACN in the threads below are empty, devoid of objectivity and balance plus largely pointless. Sadly, we are seeing too many of these threads these days (with this one included) where criticism is borne of sheer bad belle rather than anything else. What we should all be doing, if still seeing the big picture of the development of Nigeria, is considering budgetary issues, estimated completion dates, toll arrangements (if any), community linkage issues and other real considerations. What should not be in dispute is that this is a good and needed contribution to the infrastructural development we all claim to want.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-720869.64.html grabdbull: Truly, I can't fathom how anyone can even imagine that no EIA was done before awarding a contract of this magnitude. A human being actually believes in his heart that there is no economic value in this project? Some people are never-do-well-s. In the words of IBB, it is idiotic for anyone to even consider that.
Eko-Ile, I believe you should rather advise those making all the negative noise to talk to their own Governors to work, rather than displaying blatant envy for others. Some are busy singing "Lack of Federal Government presence", while others are doing exploits.
Aregbesola has embarked on a project that will generate revenue for his State, and some can't even see that. A lot of travelers would prefer using this road to Lagos-Ibadan express because of the time saved. This will in turn generate tolls for Osun. It would also be wise to build transit parks towards the end of this road from Lagos, so that some travellers can stop over there for a rest, and spend some money on businesses in the State.
I actually prefer a situation where the State even build a high-speed rail along the road, that could reduce travel time between Lagos and Osun, so that people can start commuting to work from Osun to Lagos on a daily basis. This action will decongest Lagos and Ogun, while spreading development to Osun State. *Sigh* Ignorance can never lack companionship. Road transport as the civilised world knows is the most inefficient, most expensive and the most environment unfriendly means of mass haulage available. As an engineer *sigh* , Engr. Aregbesola of all people should know that. A grossly underutilised rail track already links Oshogbo with Ibadan and Abeokuta and Lagos. If I were this one-track minded jester , I will create means for the towns in the state to link with this arterial rail line , establish rail stations along the route , even invest in some rolling stock if necessary. But otio , he must build road so that the party and Bros Tinubu (his campaign financier)can get kickback.Na wa for this man o. |

Eko Ile: Sadly, it's always the playing dumb routine come back about this and that go when they get called out for their foolish comments. This is not about me, this is about your goofy statements.
You said no economic or environmental impact was done. The fact is, you don't know if it was done or not, unless you are willing to tell us you are an insider and you have inside knowledge about the project or you are just another know nothing just running mouth based on his own ignorance which you obviously refused to answer for obvious reasons.
Bottom line, speak about what you know and keep the lies and ignorant talk to yourself and fellow sadists. OK Oga; I beg no vex. Happy worshiping . God dey |
