Christianity Etc › Kumuyi Condemns Lesbianism, Homosexuality by ffo(op): 9:04am On Apr 03, 2013
The General Superintend (GS), Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi said individuals and nations involved in sodomy is committing great wickedness before God.

Kumuyi said this at the headquarters of the church while delivering a sermon at the recent National Easter Retreat organised by the church.

He said lesbianism and homosexuality is now widespread across the world as many countries are legitimising the abomination as part of the constitution, even some churches are ordaining them as leaders over Christians.

Kumuyi said:” There are many nations, city and communities today like Sodom and the Lord is saying if you are living there don't join them in their lesbianism, homosexuality, idols, and escape for your life out of Sodom.

“When you come out of Sodom, you come out of the sicknesses, afflictions, poverty and sufferings into great health, prosperity and strength of the Lord. You may escape sickness, diseases, poverty and all the other ills here in the world but fail to escape hell on the final day, be wise and take heed today.

Kumuyi said the only way to escape this wickedness is to come out and surrender unto the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Come out of the fornication, adultery, lesbianism, occultism, homosexuality, robbery, kidnapping, suicide killing, drunkenness, smoking, witchcraft and wizardry and be free in Jesus name.

“You have a part to play for your glorious escape in now and the final escape into the kingdom of God. There is glorious escape from Sodom, great escape from sin and sickness and gracious escape from Satan for you today, just believe”, He added

Crime › Re: Cameroonian Boy Beheads His Father by ffo(m): 3:49pm On Mar 27, 2013
The inhabitants of Buea Town are still to recover from the shock and consternation following the heinous killing of Pa Daniel Mbonde by his fourth son.

Friday, 15 March marked the untimely exit of Pa Daniel Mbonde, a retired Prison Warder beheaded in his farm by his own son whose name Cameroon Tribune got as Gabriel Mbonde alias "Daddy Black". Gabriel, 25, is presently languishing at the Buea Central Police station cell while the headless body of the father by press time (3pm Saturday) was brought to the family compound around the 'Pala Pala field' neighbourhood by the police for burial.

As the story goes, Pa Mbonde went to his farm situated around HUT One on the slopes of Mount Fako, Friday morning with one of his sons (Ndumbe). By 4pm, the two decided to go back home and each carried a long of wood. The young Ndumbe narrated that his father asked him to go ahead since he could not walk faster to the pace of the young man. Somewhere along the road, he went on, he met with his elder brother (the assassin) and asked him where he was going by that time of the day but "Daddy Black" responded that he too was going to fetch his own firewood. Ndumbe said he questioned the brother how he was going to cut firewood without a machete but he said he was going to collect the machete from the father.

When by 6pm Pa Mbonde had not return, eyebrows were raised on what might have happened to him. Meanwhile, the said "Daddy Black" returned with a bag containing the head of his father. He is said to have moved with the said black bag around the neigbourhood claiming that his money is on the way coming. A woman who was also returning from her farm, Cameroon Tribune learnt, is reported to have seen somebody lying on the ground in the bush but did not border to verify. Following the search of the old man (in his early 70s according to family sources), the woman hinted the villagers who immediately went out to see for themselves.

The younger brother and other youths of the locality mobilized and got "Daddy Black" who admitted haven beheaded the father. He reportedly went to the house and brought out the father's head. He was then taken to the Central Police Station where he is currently detained. Gabriel Mbonde a.k.a "Daddy Black" according to family sources has been a torn to the father's flesh and the rest of the family.

He is said to have been on his father's throat over monetary issues, accusing the father of selling the house and land without giving his own share. Cameroon Tribune also gathered that this is not the first time "Daddy Black" is committing such a flagitious act. He had some time ago, attempted to cut off the younger brother's head. The incident left the brother (Ndumbe) with severe machete cuts which almost took his life. "Daddy Black" again is reported to have raped his niece (younger sister's child). When he inflicted machete wounds on the brother, Cameroon Tribune learnt, he was detained in waiting trial at the Buea Central Prison but the father who is today the next victim, sold his house and land and bailed him out.

Nairaland General › Pornography Case: Expelled Covenant University Student Looses Case by ffo(op): 2:51pm On Mar 27, 2013
Justice Mobolaji Ojo of an Ogun High Court sitting in Ota, Wednesday, dismissed the suit filed by 20-year-old Longji Felix Vwamhi, a 400 level student of Information and Communication Technology department of Covenant University, challenging the institution over his expulsion for being in possession of pornographic materials in his laptop. The case was dismissed for lack of merit.

It will be recalled that Vwamhi was expelled on November 27, 2012 following the outcome of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the university which found him guilty of being in possession of pornographic materials and indecent dressing.

The Covenant University, its vice chancellor and chancellor are the first, second and third defendants, respectively while Felix’s mother, Mrs Indo Felix Vwamhi, of Block House 13 Mbora Estate, Abuja is a co-plaintiff in the suit.

In his judgment, Ojo found out that the student has indeed violated the university regulations as contained in chapter 4 section 35 of its student hand book which prohibits public display or possession of pornographic films or photograph.

He pointed out that the student also admitted being in possession of the laptop containing the pornographic materials and sharing same laptop with friends in the school.

He also stated that the panel set up by the university to try the student did not violet section 36 of the 1999 constitution as amended and the principles of “Audi Alterem Partem and Nemo Judex in Causa Sua” . That one cannot be a judge in his own course.”

According to him, the claimant did not state categorically that the chairman of the panel was biased being the Dean of Students Affairs whose staff investigated the student in question.

The Judge also faulted the claimant’s counsel for his inability to file counter affidavit against the issues raised by the respondents, adding that, in a situation where the party to a dispute could not file counter affidavit it would be assumed he admitted.

Justice Ojo however, stated that the school authority should reconsider the letter of a passionate appeal made by the student’s father to revisit and review the decision of the Student Disciplinary Committee to avert possible miscarriage of justice and colossal human and material wastage.

He urged the university authority to tamper justice with mercy and recall the student stressing that he needs encouragement to complete his education having spent four years already.

Politics › Sheik Gumi Kicks Against Amnesty For Boko Haram, Says They Ought To Be Crushed by ffo(op): 8:09am On Mar 27, 2013
Dr. Ahmad Gumi, fearless cleric and son of the late famous Sheik Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi, today kicked against amnesty for the Boko Haram sect as has been proposed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III and several prominent Nigerians, saying they ought to be crushed.

Gumi who once escaped being killed by some suspected terrorists, made the remarks in a sermon monitored in our New York office from his social media network.

In it, Gumi declared that were Prophet Mohammed himself to be alive today, he would personally have led the way in exterminating the sect.

“Every individual in this nation is concerned about the future,” he stressed. “Nigeria is catalytically deteriorating. Today the national discourse is on corruption and amnesty for terrorism.”

He noted that many people have missed the crux of the matter. “Corruption is incurable, it is only suppressed. That is by genuine ethics/faith illumination campaigns like the ethical revolution, War Against Indiscipline, Re-brand Nigeria etc. and ...an effective system of accountability (i.e. checks and balances) or what can be summed up as good governance.”

Turning to the Boko Haram insurgency, he described it as hypocritical, pointing out that as an ideology, Boko Haram respects no law, the Quran or Hadith or Scholarly fatwa. “They have their own interpretation, anything short of that is part of the enemy that should be killed. So on what basis should there be dialogue or amnesty? It is a creed that must be crushed; it is a creed the prophet – alaihis Salam- wished he is alive to exterminate."

Sheik Gumi regretted that the present dispensation in Nigeria lacks the moral high ground to defeat the militants, otherwise that objective would already have been achieved. In that regard, he pointed out that more innocent people have been killed, maimed, tortured and incarcerated by the JTF in the name of fighting Boko Haram than by Boko Haram itself or those camouflaging behind them. “A whole region is made to suffer economically, socially and politically because of this blind war on terror. The present dispensation has everything to gain in refusing the 'amnesty' call for political reasons; that is why it is recalcitrant. Otherwise, if the need to crush Boko Haram is genuine, it would have been achieved since.”

Instead, he called for a “selected Muslim high-ranking officer” of the armed forces take charge of the whole ‘operation’ from investigations to incursions, arguing that the situation requires careful excision and only someone who feels the pains of society has the capacity can carry it out.

“Like removing a tumor from the brain, you don't give that to an orthopedic surgeon, no matter how good, to do that. It is an operation of precision not brute force. This choice of tackling a peculiar problem is the sign of good governance. Special missions have special requirements if success is the objective.”

Sheik Gumi pointed out that Boko Haram consists of armed individuals hiding in a civilian population.

“They do not control any high fire power to be engaged in a war,” he said.

“Therefore there is absolutely no need whatsoever to deploy and ultimately exhaust the military in road blocks all over the spheres of their activities. What are needed are very good intelligence, special strike squads and the genuine cooperation of the civilian population which can never be achieved through intimidation.”

He warned that because the issue is being tackled with “the impulses of vengeance and retaliation” as is currently the case, the entire saga is gradually turning into another thing all together.

“This is what makes the future bleak and frightening,” he stressed.

Nairaland General › Man, 36, Jailed For Touching A Lady’s bosom by ffo(op):
Abuja – A 36-year-old man, Abdulkareem Abdulsalam, was on Wednesday sentenced to two months in prison for indecent assault by a Senior Magistrate Court in Karu, FCT.

Police Prosecutor Stephen Eimoga told the court that on March 19 at about 9 a.m, one Juliet Sunday 18 of Karu Village reported the matter at Karu Police Station.

“On March. 18 at about 6 p.m., Sunday was coming out from the bathroom and Abdulsalam also of Karu Village, assaulted her by holding her breast without her consent,’’ Eimoga said.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 285 of the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

Citing section 157 (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code, Eimoga applied for summary trial of the accused.

Asked if he had any cause to show why the court should not convict him, the accused pleaded for leniency.

“I pray the court to pardon me for what I have done. I am a married man and my parents are late. I am begging for your pardon sir,” Abdulsalam pleaded.

In his judgement, the Magistrate, Mr Aminu Abdullahi, said the accused could not convince the court on why he should not be punished.

“Relying on section 285 of the Criminal Procedure Code, I find you guilty as charged by the police,’’ Abdullahi said.

He sentenced the convoct to two months in prison with an option of paying N2,000 fine.

The judge said that in addition to the sentence, 12 strokes of the cane should be administered on Abdulsalam and warned him never to engage in such act again.

Nairaland General › Chief Edwin Clark remarries at 86yrs by ffo(op):
Ijaw Leader and former Information Minister, Chief Edwin Clark remarried last week Sunday March 17th at the age of 86. Today is actually is 86th birthday. Happy birthday, sir! Back to the story. Chief Clark married well known medical doctor, Dr Abisola Sodipe Akindeko. The wedding ceremony took place at his home in Apapa and another one at the bride's home at Okupe Estate in Maryland.

Dr Abisola Akindeko is the former best friend of Iyabo Obasanjo who lost two of her children in an assassination attempt on Iyabo Obasanjo's life. Dr Abisola's children were riding in Iyabo's car when it was attacked by hired assassins in 2003. The gunmen, thinking Iyabo was in the car, shot into the car killing the two children instantly. Iyabo and Dr Abisola had been riding in the doctors car, while the children rode in Iyabo's car. It was a huge story back then. Glad to know she's doing well now!

Women sha!

Career › Top Nine Worst Jobs To Have Right Now In Nigeria by ffo(op): 4:27pm On Mar 18, 2013
Every morning in Nigeria, millions of people wake up and prepare to go to work. Most do not go to work because they love their jobs but because they have no other option. It is no longer news that most people dislike their current jobs.

We came across a funny list of the worst jobs and have modified, it with insights and research, to come up with this list of 9 worst jobs one can have right now in Nigeria

This list doesn’t mean we downgrade or look down on people who do honest, hardwork like the street cleaners etc. This is a list of jobs that most people, if given an option, will pass over. If you are currently in any of these jobs you have our empathy.

9. Bus Conductor

There’s the long working hours. There’s the life threatening occupation of hanging half-outside a speeding bus while keeping an eye out for passengers. There’s the smoke and the people you have to deal with everyday.

But the worst -ultimate worst- part of being a bus conductor is having to shout out the unpronounceable names of bus stop names while mentally calculating how much change you owe the guy in the distracting pink shirt. It easily combines our two worst activities: Shouting unpronounceable bus stop names and mathematics.

That’s why they sweat so much. You would too, if your entire day consisted of shouting such destinations as:

Oshodioshodioshodiosh

OjuelegbaOnipanPangrooo.

And then solving maths while doing all that. It ain’t easy, we assure you

8. PHCN Electrician/Technician

First of all, working for PHCN is already considered not cool by the general populace. There was this guy in Secondary school whose dad worked for The Authorities, and every time the lights went off, we’d all look at him and shake our heads.

So not only is working for PHCN not cool, but being the Electrician/Pole Guy who has to go around cutting people’s power lines just has to suck in the worst way. You’re like the bad news guy the Army sends to tell families they’ve lost someone in battle. Only imaging if it’s an army that’s already generally hated by the populace.

It’s up to you to ride in that van with the ladder, get to someone’s house, climb up the pole, disconnect the power, look down, see the crowd of angry faces waiting for you at the bottom, and decide whether descending the ladder is the best option for your general health and longevity.

7. Traffic Control Officials (eg LASTMA)

Everybody’ in Lagos knows who the LASTMA are. Nobody likes them. There job description consists mostly of stopping you when you desperately need to be somewhere important and having the most dull drawn out conversations. You’ll never hear a conversation like: “Oh, there are the LASTMA. Let’s go hang out with them.”

Or “Hey, let’s get them some drinks shall we?”

Never.

You just know you’re in the wrong line of work if the mere sight of you causes 20,000 people to start saying mean things about your uncle’s father’s friend in the village whom they’ve never even met before.

Plus you are always at the risk of being hit by an angry driver who is hellbent on not getting caught by you.

6. Banker

Okay, some may not quite agree with including this on the list. To everybody who wants to be a banker: Undeceive yourselves. Do yourselves a favor and change your future ambitions as soon as possible. It is a trap. Banking jobs are sort of like babies. You see them all cute and cuddly and you’re like, “Awww, I’d really like to have one of my own.”. Then you decide to have one of you’re own and one day you’re up by 3 a.m changing diapers and you realize that somebody, somewhere, engaged in a bit of false advertising.

Bankers have it the worst. Their working hours are horrible. The Tellers sit behind counters all day counting money (other people’s money for that matter) and dealing with the most obnoxious customers (to be honest, we ourselves have been the obnoxious customer many a time). Then you stay back after work closes and balance accounts. And if you make some small computing error, you can’t leave until you sort that out. And then they’re targets and goals and deadlines and stuff and about 100 million fresh eager graduates out of school just waiting to take your job.

Next time you go into a bank, show a little compassion will you? Those people have it hard. There was this guy behind the counter where I formerly used to bank, and every time I went there, his face was a cry for help. It was like dud, get me out of here.

You do not want to be a banker. Especially not in Lagos. Trust me.

5. Internet Cafe Owner

Remember 2001? Internet Cafe Owners had it good that year, didn’t they? Nobody understood what the internet was really about and we were all easy prey. We’d spend 1 hour waiting for an available system, hoping the guy with 12 minutes remaining wasn’t going to purchase more time. Then you’d pay some ridiculous amount for your one hour ticket. You’d sit there in front of your system for 30 minutes waiting for Yahoo Messenger to finish loading. And at the end of it, you’d look at the owner and say Thank You Sir, For Letting Me Use Your Internet Facilities.

Now if you’re an internet cafe owner, it may be beginning to dawn on you that maybe, just maybe, you’re in the wrong line of business. Maybe it’s those empty seats. Maybe it’s the drastic reduction in cashflow. Maybe it’s just how people don’t really need you anymore. Maybe it’s how people don’t even bother to accuse you of harboring Yahoo guys.

Everybody’s got a laptop now. And those who don’t have smart phones. And guess what, they can access the internet too.

4. Plumper

uite possibly, and this is just an assumption made after a few months of casual observation, Lagos has the worst drainage system in the world. There are literally hundreds of thousands of houses in Lagos. This translates to millions of toilets flushing at any point on time. Most cities in Nigeria as well do not have even fairly decent drainage systems

We don’t want to dwell on this too much, but imagine for a moment the nasty surprises that await the Plumber. Imaging the sort of surprises that get mixed up in the convoluted network that runs beneath the city.

You’d turn up to fix a blocked pipe in Festac, and before you know it, you’re unclogging bottles from Alausa, pure water packs from Fadeyi and perhaps a Yatch or two from Ikoyi!

3. Gateman

There’s nothing wrong about holding doors open for people. Gates on the other hand, are a problem.

It would drive me crazy, repeating that simple process of walking to a car, looking at the occupants as if they were all under suspicion, walking to the gate, dragging it open, dragging it shut, and then waiting for when the people who just drove in minutes ago, want to leave. Then the other 90% of the time, you’re sitting out there in the sun doing absolutely nothing.

2. Chauffeur

People always complain about the Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and so on traffic. The only people who don’t are Drivers. Why? They’ve seen it all. All sorts of traffic. The short ones. The long ones. The ones that end at the next red Light, and the ones that end in another state. They’ve spent hours on 3rd Mainland enjoying the view. They’ve understood the inner workings of that Iyana Ipaja. They have a fond relationship with Ibadan Expressway.

I’m not talking about cab drivers, who spend a lot of time coasting around eyeballing pedestrians and dreaming up impossible price fares. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been a driver can adequately appreciate how much misery the job must entail.

1. NSCDC Lagos (Oga at the top)

Man! This is a major contender for the worst job in Nigeria. You know Mr Shem of course. And if you don’t you need to watch this.

Let’s just put it this way, there’s no man in town who is the brunt of as many jokes as this poor fellow.
