By the time you start building your {imaginary} IPVs and OPVs,we will be constructing destroyers and assembling an aircraft carrier.
Yes China will come and build them for you in 2050. China does not have money anymore to give loans for charity. They offered you loans to build you your first OPVs and I don't think they will ever offer you any loans anytime soon.

Meanwhile, our project of building our proudly made in SA OPVs is just on the door step to kick start. The shipyard is currently only busy renovating and extending their stores to be well equiped before the major project begins.

SA HAS MANUFACTURED HER OWN GUNSHIP, UNLIKE NIGERIA WHICH HAS NEVER TRIED. WE ARE ONLY ONE OF ONLY NINE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD TO HAVE EVER DONE SO IN AFRICA. DOES THAT NOT SOUND FANTASTIC ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE MANAGED TO ACHIEVE AGAINST ALL ODDS?

The west still perceive Africa as doomed continent that would look at others to do everything for them, from the cars they drive to the shoes they wear. South Africa is the only country in Africa that does not fold their arms and wait for the west to invent something for them, though I have to admit that we cannot make everything as we are still dependent to their technology to greater extent, but, they all know that we are the one and only ones in Africa and constantly challenge the west in the world of technology.

Unfortunately you haven't done project management to understand that there are short and long term project in any organisation. Project Biro same as other long term projects in SAN only started as envisioned dream and now everything is starting to materials with companies already about to start the project. The project will be win-win project since it will as well boast the economy in the country.

SA is not in a hurry with the project, yet the project is becoming a reality. It is better that matter how long it takes we are finally heading somewhere and we will once more built our own ships.

Shilka has 4 barrels and are radar guided to pin point target, even if the target is speeding 1,000 km/h like Hawk jet.

SANDF does NOT have any CRAM anti-missile defence as at today 2015, the project is slowed down by lack of funds, and the target date of 2017 will be further delayed.

SANDF has NO SINGLE CRAM defence today. FACT !

Nigeria has 16 Roland launchers, 2 missiles load each, 8 more missiles inside cabin with rapid automatic reload in 10 seconds.

10 missiles x 16 launchers = 160 missiles.....SAAF will die in seconds
.
Still keeping a 50 years old grandfather Roland. Please let go of that malfunctioning old hack, it won't save you from the wrath of SANDF.

South Africa is manufacturing electronic wires and cables, common diodes and connectors that University students play with in laboratory, you did not make any major component of the Gripen jet. You are just making wires and cables. LOL. Bwhahaahahaa. LOL.

According to your own source, South Africa is manufacturing tiny battery to light up the screen lights for display of data, like the screen of a lap top computer, battery for the light/power for viewing displays on the monitor. LOL

"The agreement will see Avitronics develop and manufacture a new power unit for the Gripen's display system supplied by Ericsson Saab Avionics. "

South Africa is making some tiny batteries, like the ones that power up Nokia phone screen for us to see the text messages we are typing. LOL.

Congrats on your tiny battery. LOL.

How does that become a major component to make the Gripen a Half South African product?

Even Italy that makes the radar is not claiming part-ownership of Gripen.

Olodo . LOL.

You are lost. The whole syb-system and power unit of gripens including avionics are done by SA company.

Nope, you failed to prove those photos are actually Gripen jet parts. The source posted by the other Southie guy says electrical parts not airframes, how is that my problem? I am not the one doing research here, it's actually you South Africans making research and failing at it.....same way NO SINGLE SOUTH AFRICAN IS CAPABLE TO RESEARCH AND TELL US THE RANGE OF GRIPEN RADAR IN GROUND SEARCH MODE, fools cannot research into their own Soweto weapons, they are stylishly begging we Nigerians to do it for them.

By the way, pylon is not a major component of Gripen, it's just pieces of metal cut in shape and welded up.

Okay, you now advertise South African welding and cutting of small metal pieces as MAJOR AIRCRAFT PARTS MANUFACTURING.

Congrats, you have a welders shop
.
Simple, 70/120, that's 58.33% potential of detection both ground and airborne objects at the same time.

Hope that this dog should read this article below. You think SA is like that bush you call Nigeria. SA is now officially an advanced industrialized nation.

http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/pilot-training-key-to-consolidating-techno-advantages-of-sas-new-gripens-2012-06-15/article_comments:1

DSA was responsible for the JAS39C/D Gripen MLGUs,
rear fuselages and Nato-standard pylons, and DAe
continues to produce these parts of the aircraft. To
date, the South African company has shipped more
than 100 MLGUs, more than 100 rear fuselages and
more than 70 shipsets of pylons (each shipset
comprising five pylons) to Saab in Sweden.

With empty heads like you in the SAAF, I'm not suprised SAAF is stuck with 9 pilots for 26 Gripens after 16 years.

You just cannot think!!
You are the one who is stuck at the outdated news
Over the past years SAAF has been training pilots and have been introduced to gripen platform ever since. We have many pilots, black tire.

http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3594&Itemid=350

Only 29 of 60 Combat pilots posts were vacant as in 2009.

Remember, all of those were from the cheetahs platform with some over 29 having resigned then.

From 31 combat pilots we had only 9 pilots(instructors) who were qualified on a gripen platform as in 2010 after they were trained in Sweden and 13 for Hawks. That was. before gripen and hawks were introduced in South Africa. However, that number has been increasing ever since because new pilots were introduced with some not yet accumulated enough hours. The fact remains, they all were introduced to the new platform. Jezzzz!!!

Yes, it is the older MI-35p. All new models feature fixed landing gear, FLIR and Forward looking infrared and a co-axial chin mounted 20mm.

Jealously? Nope. Envy? Nope.

Nigeria manufactures airframe parts/electrical parts for Alpha jets and Mi-35 helicopters. Each country does its own thing, so why envy you, does South Africa build sophisticated stealth warships like Nigeria?

Your source is NO source, you just posted photos of body parts of aircraft, nothing to prove South Africa makes those parts in the photo. Your argument remains crippled until proved
.
Again you are telling lies. So, you want to tell me that Nigeria is producing those parts to produce those parts illegally. I haven't seen Nigeria anywhere from countries that can maintain and even modify MI-35 or Alpha jets. South Africa is legally approved to work on the Russian machines and that's being both MI-24 and 35. Show me where Nigeria has ever been awarded contract to produce all those parts for Russian defence company? Nigeria does not have minerals to produce any of such parts.

Why should I have a bloody nose because Denel welding shop joins small metal pieces together for tiny parts of an aircraft, what advanced electronic components are inside metal flat sheets welded by a welder? LOL.

Your source says NOTHING connecting those photos with Denel factory, it only says the same old general statements, Denel joins wires, cables, and cardboard sheets together for a small part of the Airbus AM400, so what? Kiddies project. LOL.

Did Denel manufacture Airbus engine components or cockpit electronic sensors? No.

Well BBC and Defenceweb says Nigeria is building 50% to 70% of the sophisticated P18N Stealth warship, first of such feat in Africa. Sure to get the ship to Nigeria partially built, the Chinese have to construct the hull, or else how does it sail on the ocean from China to Nigeria, you M0RON !!

Go quarrel with the sources about the 50% - 70% construction in Nigeria, your headache not mine..... I can see your nose bleeding from a head butt blow.
.
The ship was built by Chinese company and in effort to boast Nigerian economy, they only transfered 70% of the project to be done in Nigeria, yet by the Chinese.

Your Rooivalk with a 2KM range cannon carried out operations in conjunction with the MI-35 helicopters. Bear in mind, the MI-35 Helicopters are the much much older variants.

Correction please!!! SAAF has 11 Rooivalk in service. Pretoria has been bombarded by calls from interested countries looking for Rooivalk after its excellent performance in DRC.

About 11 SAAF rooivalks.

The Rooivalk was made to be a tank-buster first and foremost (and still
is), but the range of services it can deliver has been widened to that of a
combat support aircraft as well, to incorporate peacekeeping missions,
according to Gagiano. The air force chief wouldn’t be drawn on where
the Rooivalk might be deployed on missions (they will be based at 16th
Squadron in Bloemfontein), but we said he would be more than chuffed
to put these magnificent aircraft into the field when needed. Just as soon
as he has all 11 of them. “Well, if they ask me to deploy all 11 aircraft
obviously I can’t comply, but if they say four or five, then I think that it
is a great opportunity not just for the Air Force, but for the whole
country to be proud,” Gagiano said.

He said this because at that time he only had five upgraded Rooivalks and still waiting for 6 more to come later. That's why he said if they ask him for all 11 gunships he won't comply as he had only five. Dummy!!

Yes the first rooovalk was reverse engineered from the Super Puma but the new Rooivalk AH and later NG mark 1 is nothing like the Super Puma. It is very different and you can never conclude that it is Super-Puma. In fact most gunships in the world were inspired by another platform.
