chris365: are you daft or what? which country will give up it's mining rights and doesn't collect royalties? you must be a learner. grin

Western governments have predicted Nigeria's reserve will dry up the same way they predicted Nigeria will break up for decades. oil has just been discovered in 5 new states so keep believing your western masters.

and mind you, the move has made the east africa power house that's a new oil producer in africa to come to us for help on developing their own industry and deals have been signed already.

FACT!! Nigerias oil will run dry by 2030, if you don't know that then am afraid. That's why Nigeria is moving away from depending much on oil, they are busy preparing themselves for post 2030 by exploring new avenues of survival.

chris365: just cause your leaders don't have a clue of how to take control of your mining industry doesn't mean we can't. Nigeria has come up with laws to squeeze oil majors to give up their assets to NNPC and we still remain the biggest oil producer in the continent. your government should come and learn from us.

we are doing the same for other minerals sector. i understand how the growth speed scares you guys grin

and stop this talk about Nationalization being bad, argentina nationalized a spanish oil company about two years ago and they still remain economically stronger than spain.

Zimbabwe is only suffering cos Mugabe refused to succumb to western pressure to allow whites control the economy like Mandela allowed in south africa to the extent that they refuse to accept when he was democratically elected. Mugabe remains a hero to many Africans whether you like it or not.

Nigeria has nationalized many foreign companies and the companies are still standing(BP, First bank etc..). their are many ways to nationalize a foreign company, not just by wielding spares the way your people like to do. grin
Angola is Africas largest oil producer from this month and will topple you officially by next year as Africas largest oil producer.

Why do you have to Nationalise your banks that is not a clever move. All modern schools of political thought, from Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin on the left to Frederick Hayek and Milton Friedman on the right , agree on at least one thing : private entrepreneurship is the driver of modern economic development.

Have you ever ask yourself why is America and UK having so big economies and that was not derived from nationalisation. Those nationalisation policies will suck Nigeria dry and it will only be your politicians who will be getting richer.

That step is already too late, you could have done that when you had 60 years more of your oil reserves. We are cleaver because our government is owning royalties and mining rights. So, we are gaining revenues without having to take responsibilities of paying salaries, benefits, medical insurance, pensions etc of labour and costs of fuels and machinery to mine.

chris365: ask them if the they control their mining industry. Nigeria is looking to own majority in our mining industry and it's working according to plan.
Nationalisation is not always the answer, it has failed many countries. Just make that research, you will come to understand how does it link to corruption and finally fail the whole country.

chris365: this has to be a joke coming from a military gate man. how secretive is US use of drones? humor me some more please cheesy
America will never come open to the world to admit that they are using drones to spy on people. The US drones were used and are still being used to spy on BH. That is information that is hidden from the public but we all know why those drone were deployed to Niger at the first place. They were not on tour but on a serious business which involves rooting out BH from their holes. Why is it that after they were deployed SOE was declared?

solomon111: The southafrican economy is hugely dependent on the minning of gold.
Nigeria has a lot of solid minerals especially gold and cobalt, yet unexplored.
Secondly, our oil deposits will last for atleast 60years at the minimum which is very conservative as more oil deposits are being discovered everyday.
Thirdly,Nigeria will never depend on uranium as our major foreign exchange earner,as Agriculture, manufacturing and solid minerals sectors are the sectors that the govt is currently developing to provide foreign exchange.
You are a joke, South Africa has more platinum than gold. Do you even know that platinum has more value than gold. It seems as if you are backwards with everything affecting your country, because experts from various oil giants companies have estimated Nigerias oil to run dry by 2030. Unless Nigeria decrease their annual production, perhaps that can help their oil to last a bit longer, but will not reach the target. Oil is measured in relation to the millions of barrels which one country produces yearly compared to what is left on its reserves. Oil experts have estimated that by 2026 most of oil investors in Nigeria will be pulling out because the little that will be left will not have any good news to their pockets.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 7:59am On Sep 09, 2013
Nigerians are indeed suffering from a gene associated to Chimpanzees of beating their chest. Patriotism has gone them into their heads and blindly enclosed their minds in a cocoon.

In 15 years to come, Nigeria will not have oil left which is currently their main source of revenues and they will be forced to rely on agriculture, Natural gas and Uranium.

Uranium and Natural gas does not make you rich, platinum, gold and oil is. Niger which produces the most uranium in the world is among the poorest countries in Africa. Uranium is the expensive mineral, nobody can dispute that but Nuclear proliferation poses a serious danger to the world which limit its projects from flourishing. Infact, I am even getting worried when SA wants to build more of nuclear reactors because accidents happens most of the times, ask Japan.

The enermy can also attack such installations which can result in radiation that will eventually kill multitudes.

In terms of research conducted by Citigroup, American banking group, SOUTH AFRICA IS THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD IN TERMS OF MINERAL RESERVES.

[miningmx.com] -- South Africa is the world's richest country in terms of its mineral reserves - worth $2.5 thousand billion - according to research by the American banking group Citigroup, reports Bloomberg.

The Citigroup report, which was compiled by its mining analyst, Craig Sainsbury, says that Russia comes second after South Africa, and Australia third.

The research states that South Africa, Guinea, the Ukraine, India and Kazakhstan all have mineral reserves unrelated to energy worth more than $200bn.

Mines in these countries also all have average life spans of more than 100 years at current rates of exploitation.

Countries like Guinea and Kazakhstan with high resource values but limited mining activity could see greater demand from the world's biggest mining companies and foreign wealth funds, the report continues.

Sainsbury says Chinese mines have an average 17-year life of mine, according to surveys by the US Geological Survey system.

Sainsbury says it's no wonder that China continues to invest massively in metals and mining, Bloomberg reports.

He says that China is expected to continue investing in copper and iron ore, together with energy resources like coal and uranium.

Of South Africa's $2 500bn worth of reserves, $2 300bn resides in the platinum group metals.

Russia's iron ore reserves are valued at $794bn - more than the Australian iron ore reserves, which are estimated to be worth $737bn.

Iron ore reserves in the Ukraine, according to Sainsbury, are worth $510bn, and Guinea has bauxite (aluminium ore) worth $222bn.

In dollar values Guinea, South Africa, India, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan are the countries that under-produce the most in terms of their reserves, says Sainsbury.

India will need to increase its domestic production rates, especially in light of its economic upturn. But bureaucracy and national protectionism will probably scare off any foreign investors, the report declares.

let south africans swallow this fact...or else they can go hug 10,000 volts electricity transformer cheesy

Congo is, even United Nations knows. Before your deployment we are normally briefed that DR Congo is the richest country in Africa in terms of minerals. You go to heaven or hell, Congo remains the first, followed by South Africa and not some hogwash research conducted by Agaugust at his back yard. Under that link which I gave before, Uranium was among the minerals listed under Nigeria, but still they could not come any close to minerals discovered in Congo.

Congo will become the richest country in Africa only if there can be peace in their land. That is one country that God really blessed.

america is using drones against religious terrorists of al qaeda group NOT against another country's military force. let america fly drones over the head of iran and lets see how it works.... because iran has shot down american drones before.

nigerian air defense will waste all south african drones if they dare to fly against us. FACT !!!

think before you post comments cheesy

.
Drones use electrical motor s.tupid. They have long moved from using hydrogen fuel which enabled them to fly upto 48 hours to electricity which has proven to last longer. Is only a fool who will use SAMs to fight drones, because drones are cheaper to build compared to missiles. You will miss drones hundred a times with your missiles and as a result wasting your missiles for nothing for something that you cannot even see with your n.aked eye.

.............................nigeria to become a nuclear power

Nigeria Partners Russia to build a Nuclear power station!

:
Source: Radio "Voice of Russia"

After a few years on the African continent, Nigeria is likely to appear a second nuclear power station (the first was built in South Africa). Construction of nuclear power plant could take Russia
.

Already announced for the undertaking of the intergovernmental agreement, which provides for cooperation in the design, construction, operation and decommissioning of the first nuclear power plant in Nigeria. This was reported by the corporation "Rosatom".

After the accident at the nuclear power plant "Fukushima" some countries have decided on the gradual closure of nuclear power plants. Overall, however, the world is not going to give up the peaceful atom. In Africa, nuclear generation is virtually absent, except for nuclear power plants "Koeberg" in the south of the continent, and the interest in it is growing, the director of the communications department of the state corporation "Rosatom" Sergey Novikov:

"The concern is that nuclear power in the world will evolve. As an environmentally friendly source of energy available to the new EU energy-hungry. This is also a technology platform for the development of new technologies, including new energy sources in the future. Therefore demand for domestic nuclear power occurs in different regions: Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Including the African continent. And wherever there is a demand for this, Russian media as one of the top three technologies at the global nuclear energy market is ready for mutually beneficial conditions to participate in the creation of a national nuclear power program. "

According to the World Nuclear Association, an interest in the development of peaceful nuclear energy in Africa exhibit Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Sudan, Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia. However, for these countries to talk about concrete steps to translate the ideas of peaceful nuclear energy is too early. But in the case of Nigeria, made the first steps, said Sergei Novikov:

"Since Nigeria signed an intergovernmental agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Now experts have completed work on a new draft of the intergovernmental document on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Nigeria. At the level of delegations agreed text of the document, and now Rosatom, and our counterparts in Nigeria transmit these documents to the governments of the two countries that there were procedures for the approval and adoption, and the document would be ready for signing. "

Of course, an intergovernmental agreement - it's not a contract, prior to the commencement of construction. But experts believe that the work on it is within the scope of Rosatom, which seeks to create a broad framework for international cooperation in the field of nuclear power generation. In addition, cooperation with Nigeria is interesting from another point of view, the Chief Editor of the atomic portalAtomic-Energy.ru Pavel Yakovlev:

"Nigeria is one of the largest producers of uranium. Around seven per cent of the total world uranium is concentrated in Nigeria. Therefore, interest in this country is not accidental. Until recently, there was a major player in France, and the French mining companies were active there."

On the issue of security, then, according to Sergei Novikov, any project of building the first new nuclear power plant in the country accompanied by regulation and supervision of the IAEA. All of these technologies are perfected. And there does not need to invent anything in terms of physical protection of nuclear facilities.

"The Predator drones in Niger Republic are unarmed, US officials said, though they have not ruled out equipping the aircraft with Hellfire missiles in the future.

The US Embassy in Niamey, Niger Republic did not respond to an email on the matter.

When contacted, spokesman for Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, denied any collaboration with the US in the campaign.

He said, “This is solely a Nigerian planned operation and we are doing it our own way. This operation is our own and we are doing it in line with best practices. It is Nigerian designed and executed.”

.
You can have thousands of satellites but they won't help you to win the war. Drones can undoubtedly help you to win the war. There is also a new technology that has been developed of blinding the satellite by using highly powered lasers to blind satellites.

Your satellites have failed you in BH operation, had it not been through the US help you would have been struggling by now. Chezzzy!!!

agaugust: i dont care about stories, i only care about realities of the battlefield action. most drones are not stealth, and even the few that are, they still get seen by powerful countries like nigeria that has camera spy balloons that fly far above drones.....and powerful radar will pick up a stealth drone showing small signature. when a drone fires weapons, its presence if revealed if it was hidden by stealth.

show us mokopa missile armed drones....ordinary one alpha jet will eat twenty slow speed drones for breakfast.

i have not seen nation vs nation warfare where drones became a threat to a standard army and airforce like that of nigeria or algeria, drones are only a threat to religious fanatics and rebels like al qaeda/osama bin laden and M23 rebels cheesy

.
Bwahahahahaha!! You must be the biggest joke of Nairaland. Infact you are the moemish of the year, because your ballons and even your satellites are too slow to have the capability of seeing our drones. Satellites can easily be studied by expert to locate their position at that very time. Satellites all have channels to travel with just like planes have routes to avoid collision. We know when will satellites pass a certain points and at what time and once they pass it will be difficult for them to come back.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 9:44pm On Sep 08, 2013
South Africa can destroy all Nigerias air defence just by the use of only drones. Those mokopa missiles will destroy all those Rolands within minutes until Nigeria have nothing left.

It shows that you haven't read the link I have attached to understand the whole thing. Drones are difficult to be noticed, imagine a plane which is bigger than a house flying 20 000 metres above the sky, how difficult is it to be seen with a naked eye. Drones are very small, not even the size of Agaugust and when they fly high they will be difficult to be noticed by your soldiers. Spy satellites can easily be deceived by the enermy due to their channelled movement from the North to the South pole.

Drones armed with mokopa missiles will pose a very serious challenge to Nigerian Army. No wonder the world is against the use of unmanned drones because you will be killed from the very far distance by unknown enermy.

That will be the madness of the highest order, fighting drones with SAMs. SA has more drones than all missiles that Nigeria have on their arsenal.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:28pm On Sep 08, 2013
Have you ever ask yourself why would America use spy drones instead of their most expensive spy satellites which are orbiting the earth on the outer space. Does it have to do with the fact that people have now developed the skills to beat spy satellites or does it have to do with the fact that their use become almost useless and is fading away by the day.

nigerian Type 90 anti-aircraft guns, Roland SAM, or Akash SAM anti-aircraft missiles will shoot down all south african drones cheesy

nigerian satellites take photos and spy on american airports thousands of kilimetres away, south africa is too blind to see that far cheesy

south african drones cannot operate from soweto and spy on nigeria, but nigerian military officers in lagos/abuja are sitting down at home and watching south african president chasing his wives around the home swimming pool....and nigeria is more than james bond...spying on jacob zuma even when he is doing the 'thing' on his mattress cheesy

.
Your spy satellites are just the white elephant. Boko Haram was spied on by American drones which also helped to root out BH position and their Anti-aircraft guns.
http://www.punchng.com/news/us-drones-spy-on-boko-haram/

Your satellites cannot reach between thick jungles and bushes, it was through the clandestine operation which was conducted by America that BH camouflaged weapons were revealed.

Meanwhile, drones can fly upto 24 hours without solar reserves. Solar only helps to recharge the stand-by power. Drones have both thermal and night vision cameras and some can even pick up sounds from far distances.

CIA information is credible, all encyclopaedias use or derive their information from the world fact book. World renowned professors have used information derived from World fact book to compile their thesis and even wikipedia, World Economic Forum, International Monetory Fund and World bank do the same. You claimed to have studied your MBA in the US and that directly makes you the product of the world fact book. So, tell me if you want any information about economic indices of any country for your research would you not make use of world fact book which you can even buy or access on the net.

CIA is updated by media at large, Sipri, government gazettes of various countries, world stats, world health organisations, etc. It has lot of people who are paid to gather all that information together to be used by not only America, but many governments when they formulate their foreign policies. Their information is updated from time to time.

Zeus_Ayo: Shuh?outh african mofos this is dedicated to you: Uranium found in 6 States in Nigeria!

Uranium found in 6 States

WORLD highly valued uranium has been found in six states of the country, placing the nation's economy in a vantage position for further growth.

The six states are Cross River, Adamawa, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi and Kano, a document from the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has said.

According to the document, "an inventory of solid minerals potentials," made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja, the uranium find was by the Atomic Energy Division of the Geological Survey of Great Britain.

Ministry sources told NAN that the highly sourced and priced radioactive mineral could be second to oil in revenue generation when fully exploited.

Uranium is used to produce nuclear energy and also as a fuel for nuclear reactors and nuclear weapons.

According to studies, not many countries of the world are endowed with the radioactive mineral, which makes it highly priced and of high value.

The valued mineral which was mainly obtained from the ore uranite, occurred in small bodies of granite containing pyrochlore with 3.3 per cent uranium oxide, 3.3 per cent, thorium oxide and 41.1 per cent niobium and tantalum oxides, the document said
Nigeria has small traces of Uranium, but that is too small to be mined. Many countries have small traces of something but the problem is that not all of such minerals can be mined due too its quantities which will not bear any profit because investors will lose a lot of money in digging alone. Do you know that the whole world has diamonds, but in some countries diamonds are too few to form a serious big mining project.

Niger which is Nigerias neighbour is rich in uranium but not Nigeria, I cannot deny that Nigeria has small traces of uranium everywhere throughout its six states.

nice post..... one of the reasons Nigerian military is ranked above the military of Algeria, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

Egypt will have a very tough time fighting nigeria, they have a much bigger force, but they have to be very careful with a Nigerian military force that fights from outer space.

Nigeria will soon add long range missiles when Epe project is completed and then we add the Nuclear weapons from the proposed Russian built reactor to supersede the mini nuclear reactor currently operating in Abuja.

then Nigeria will be among the 12 nuclear weapon armed powers of this world....

Moreover, Nigeria will never, never and never have nuclear weapons, they are among countries which are against nuclear proliferation.

NaijaPikinGidi: Juvenile talk! An inconsequential 14% of all land in South Africa is what your government can boast of ... whereas foreigners (including Nigeria grin ) and your white minority own the other 86% of South African land! Well ... in your SADC, soldiers are now told to farm. You may continue to pledge contributions not because you want to, but because you are desperate to project the kind of potent power and war credentials that Nigeria already projects, at no cost to SA lives and/or risk to finances of your government. We deploy without asking questions, while you squabble with the UN for payment before deployment. So what then is SA's priority? SANDF could well be turning their focus to farming just like Zambia.

SANDF on a mission to Nigeria? Not in your lifetime!! Not ever!! You don't know what is going on in your South Africa! You don't want to know! cool cool #crypticbynature
Land is a private property even in Nigeria it is, so what is your point? White people do not own 86% of land, there is a considerable number of blacks who own the land especially at former homelands (Bophuthatswana, Ciskei, Kwazulu, Trankei, Qwaqwa, Venda, Lebowa, etc)

agaugust: CIA does not have any researcher on ground in nigeria to gather up to date date, even BBC does better on nigerian reports and statistics. try use better sources so your intellectual class can be better, mediocrity is a chronic disease among south african men cheesy
You are crazy!!! CIA is everywhere and their findings are even used as credible sources in academic research. Nigeria is not a rich country, finish and klaar.
