Henry120: Fighter pilot is a chelsea fan.
No man, Jose Morinho is just my favourate coach. My favourate club is Barcelona, I prefer Spanish football than English. Lol!!
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:56pm On Sep 03, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: The Tanzanian General is a no nonsense tested soldier whose command and orders are understood and obeyed! That a delinquent juvenile thinks an army can succeed without a General ... speaks volumes why SANDF's so-called generals are generally not suitable for UN Command roles just as SANDF soldiers are really succeeding in shooting themselves ... something their pot-bellied generals taught them?
So why are Nigerian commanders not appointed as well. Throughout my three deployments, I have never served under Nigerian General. What is your argument?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:50pm On Sep 03, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: Enjoy yourself! Tanzania leads you all the way in the DRC.
Who said that we are in competition. Surely we are not, we are there to do what we have been asked to do, that's all.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:40pm On Sep 03, 2013
agaugust: dont confuse people here, i read a lot about Napoleon, he won his wars because he was a better army General than his enemies he fought against.
Do you mean that he would have won the war even if his soldiers were poorly equiped?

Do you mean that TAHITI stand a chance against Brazil if can be coached by Morihno?

A healthy mind is a healthy body. Without a healthy body a mind cannot work, no wonder people hallucinate when they are sick.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:33pm On Sep 03, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: That is the very point I have pointed out to your FighterPilot. However, the key point is captured in general observations of FIB frontline operations wherein the Tanzanians are leading the stomping of M23 terrains. Until I corrected Mike..ZA, he freely was falsely claiming that SANDF recce were responsible for disrupting the M23 supply lines whereas it was the Ukrainian, Tanzanians that made that effort with SANDF playing a much limited role. Point is DENEL equipment don't win battles ... but Commanders do! We know it's the Tanzanian commander ordering and planning the operations!
There is nobody who played a limited role in the FIB which is the sub of the greater MONUSCO in terms of the offensive order that was issued by the UN to intervene. The SA and Tanzanian troops were at the front line with SA snypers aligned to position.

With regard to the ineffectiveness of Denel weapons, that one I am afraid because I am not going to entertainment it, for what I know is that weapons are meant to kill. I hope you will ask the same question to those six March23 rebels who were shot from the range with Denel made NTW-20 and 14.5.

Last but not least, commanders cannot win war without weapons.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 5:47pm On Sep 03, 2013
chris365: your head is blocked from my point of view.

The intervention Brigade is in command of a Tanzanian general. He is in command of your troops in a special operation meant to mount an offensive on rebel positions.

literally, it is a war not a peace keeping mission. That's why it's called special brigade.
Common, a soldier should be aware of this fact.

Are you sure you are not just mounting security gates.
My head cannot be blocked by civilian who argue without facts. I do not waste my time with people who proves themselves as empty because what I am hoping for is a challenge. I want people who are very articulate not those who resort to childish rants by playing taunting games.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 4:57pm On Sep 03, 2013
chris365: yes, the nationality and the combat experience of such army. As a soldier you should know this by now.
That is very wrong and that's a childish talk. The UN is an international movement comprising many nations. Every member country can be called to partake anytime.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 4:49pm On Sep 03, 2013
Chris cannot differentiate between a simple troops and commander. He is saying that SA is under the command of Tanzanian troop. No wonder I do not entertain this military talk with civilians.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 4:45pm On Sep 03, 2013
chris365: as a soldier you should be able to differentiate between peace keeping and enforcement.

Nigeri has never been under command of any foreign troop in peace enforcement.

Our mission in somalia was funded by the US since they needed help from african troops and only Nigeria was capable of such deadly mission. But was never under US command.
sANDF with it's shiny weapons have no achievements in peace enforcements.

Trust me, you are in good hands under Tanzanian command. They are better achieved than SANDF. Fact
You are indeed misinformed. Peace keeping mission can be reduced to peace enforcement in sub-category. The fact is Nigeria has served under many commanders of foreign nationals.

Confirmed :

Tanzanian Army Commands And Bosses South African Army In Congo DRC War....

....the better force now in charge...Tanzania !

.

the Brazilian Lt.General commands the only peace mission of estimated 17,000 soldiers in Congo DRC with limited combat mandate

"United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz of Brazil as Force Commander of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

He succeeds Lieutenant General Chander Prakash Wadhwa of India, who completed his assignment on 31 March 2013, and to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his dedicated and effective service during his tenure of more than two years."

http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs/2013/sga1407.doc.htm

the Tanzanian Brig.General commands only the special brigade called FIB of about 3,000 soldiers in Congo DRC with full mandate for full combat and offensive war

http://www.afriquejet.com/news/783-monusco-tanzanian-to-command-monusco-special-brigade.html

http://www.theinternational.org/articles/450-united-nations-authorizes-offensive-opera

both men consult each other as you see example in photo below with an asian discussing with the brazilian, but the Tanzanian man will command and rule over all the South African army officers and men in Congo DRC war....FACT !!!

.
Agaugust the problem is that you are just a civilian who knows nothing about military. You are just MR think know it all. I am an officer in SANDF and have deployed trice in my career as a soldier. The over-arching mission is MONUSCO for which SA has been deployed and further redeployed to the intervention brigade. Those are sub-missions which are temporary and everything will boil down back to MONUSCO which is headed by a Brazilian.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 4:09pm On Sep 03, 2013
chris365: all still balls down to the Tanzanian commanding your troops. Simple
chris365: Brigadier James Mwakibolwaall still balls down to the Tanzanian commanding your troops. Simple
That's why I am always saying that it is not wise to always engage in military talk with mere civilians because you stand to gain nothing. By the way you want to tell me that of all missions Nigeria took part all boiled down to the nationality of the man on top.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 3:53pm On Sep 03, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: You accepted it because you desperately wanted it. Stop your excuses!
Those are not excuses, UN reserves the rights to appoint whoever they want to appoint. They have that prerogative, just like they appointed commanders other than Nigerian born throughout Nigerian peace keeping missions. So, what is your point brother?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 3:42pm On Sep 03, 2013
Nigeria has also served many years in peace keeping or peace enforcement missions under the head who is not Nigerian. I don't see your point of argument in this.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 3:34pm On Sep 03, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: As temporary as you want it to be ... The Tanzanian General remains SANDF's boss and commander! What don't you understand?
Is not me who want it is the UN. After everything else the mission will still remain MONUSCO headed by permanent appointee, Mr Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz who is as well under the command of a civilian Ban Ki moon.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 3:15pm On Sep 03, 2013
chris365: dude, the commander of the intervention brigade is a Tanzanian. It's been proven several times.

The brigade is a special UN unit. Hence, in command of the Tanzanian general.

He gives your army orders.
The FIB is temporary, wonder if you are aware of that. The commander on top is a Brazilian.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 1:14pm On Sep 03, 2013
CraigB: They themselves have been trumpeting that they served in Somalia. We all know who was looking after that mission. The name doesn't start with an N.
Carlos Alberto Dos Santos Cruz is not even a Tanzanian.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m):
Augustine Again: respect ? for me ? no sir, 90% of us dont respect each other on this forum.

respect died within the first 32 pages of this thread...and this is page 732 cool

Tanzania is ranked above South Africa by UN military high command. FACT.

when the Tanzanian Brigadier commands your South African Colonel, the soweto man dare not disobey. FACT.

South African army is now under Tanzanian army command and control. FACT

everybody is getting his own chance to be south africa`s boss everywhere. FACT

cheesy grin tongue shocked
.
Young man do not let anger to cloud your sound reasoning. Every contigent in MONUSCO is under the command of its colonel and the man on top is a Brazilian, Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz. There is no South Africa that is under the command of Tanzania and that misinformation really caused my colleagues to bust down with laughter when I told them about it.

The UN appointed the Brazilian general who helped to stabilise peace in Haiti to head the mission.

http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22290242

Since when do UN have the authority to rank militaries in accordance to their prowess?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 9:57am On Sep 03, 2013
Augustine Again: the direction of h.it from a sniper`s ammo tells the enemy his compass location N, S, E, W.

the battalion being hit by the sniper can also pop smoke screen by smoke grenades around themselves and blind the sniper`s view.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ec/Purple_smoke_grenade.jpg/220px-Purple_smoke_grenade.jpg

10 snipers cannot stop a nigerian army battalion of 600 men, maybe 10 snipers can stop a south african brigade of 5,000 men grin

.
I repeat snypers position are difficult to locate because they camouflage themselves to match so perfectly with the terrain. Snypers shots can come from all directions, meaning a snyper who is positioned in the North can hit you from the East or West depending on the movement of the head/body and so is the one positioned in the South. During snypers attack soldiers are apt to run in disarray.

Smoke screen will not help because snypers sights can simply be adjusted to thermal view which will still expose you due to the heat in your body. Like I said before, snypers positions are often given an all round defence with soldiers armed with anti-tank weapons. Mortars are often used but sometimes with no success or where possible anti-materiel gun can be used if their position has been spoted positively.

The only successful counter-measures that prove to work is when Fighter Jets are employed to clear snypers position.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 10:47pm On Sep 02, 2013
chris365: but if he doesn't give a go ahead, your men become sitting docks under fire. meaning he is in charge of SANDF. comprende?
Since, you are not a soldier it will be hard to understand everything. The head of the mission could be anybody from any country. So, if it was appointed from Ghana, would you say that Ghana is giving orders to all participating countries?

Come on boy, what are you on about is childish ranting and does not hold any substance. In deployment you even hardly see the head of the mission, the only person you see is your contigent commander.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 7:02pm On Sep 02, 2013
Augustine Again: .

sit down...stand up...advance...halt..aim...fire...

Tanzanian army orders South African army around in Congo DRC war...

Brigadier General James Mwakibolwa of Tanzania ; South African Army's new boss
.
I respected you brother and I somehow thought that you were an expert in military affairs, but I was all wrong. In deployment every country has its own contigent commander usually a full colonel. This is how the organisation will often be as shown below;

1. South African contigent will be under the command of a South African colonel whose position is the contigent commander.
2. Malawi will also be under the command of their colonel
3. Tanzania will also be under the command of their own colonel.

The UN will then appoint the general who will head the Monusco or Mission which in this case is a Tanzanian (remember he does not necessarily have to come from countries involved). However this doesn't mean that Tanzania will head the mission, the General will strategise with other contigent commanders from all countries involve for as far as operations are concerned.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:32pm On Sep 02, 2013
Augustine Again: even without armoured vehicle helping the battalion, 10 snipers cannot stop a full battalion, the 600 men will out-flank and sorround the snipers, then the hunter will become the hunted.

no battalion commander, a whole lieutenant colonel will be a fool, except maybe he is a 33% brain south african army officer grin

.
The only problem though is that snypers are difficult to locate their position and they often have a back-up against attack helicopters and AFV's. Operators around them will often be armed with RPGs or any anti-tank weapons to fire attack helicopters.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 12:53pm On Sep 02, 2013
2smooth2shout: maybe i exergerated a little.(apologies) but you get the point. NA is not short of professional snipers capable of hitting long range targets.

The guy's profile i posted proves it. Snipers competition involves hitting long range targets aquisition.

And your unknown sniper kill in DRC has been proven to be false by your own military.
Being a soldier myself I know how hard must it have been to our spokesman to comment about anything that involves UN operations. By law we are not allowed to comment about any operations which concerns UN operations other than the role which South Africa is going to play.

Once those soldiers have been signed for they do not longer belong to the command of the SANDF and carry out their duties as assigned by their new command.

Why would our spokesman commend about UN and its operations which does not even concerned him for this while until the mission is accomplished? We on the other side are very happy to have first hand information about the proceedings of UN operations through communications. Our brothers and my cousin who is currently there confirmed to me that it is what happened for real. SA special forces snypers have killed 6 M23 high ranking officers from the longest range shoots. The officers were apparently strategising offensive on the UN forces.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 11:59am On Sep 02, 2013
The Denel NTW-20 is very dangerous and its primary use was to shoot at small explosives so tiny as a finger from far safe distances. It is 100% accurate and now imagine if you were about to be shot with that gun from long range, that gun will explode your skull in half. Its operators are regularly trained to sharpen their skills and some of them even hit targets of over 3Km away during practice.

New Arms deal is forging ahead in South Africa because is part of government plan. Whether Agaugust likes it or not or DA . Project Hoefyster which will see SA procuring 250 new badgers is already in progress, perhaps hundred units have been build already. The afore-mentioned project will be followed by project Biro and Aorta to replace olifant tank and leopards next year. The funds have already been approved and it will not happen in 2035 as Agaugust speculated.

What I like about this new arms deal is that everything has been kept secret and Agaugust will just only rely on us for feedbacks about the new developments pertaining to the deal.

The DA has even complained about the secrecy of the deal which hold meetings behind closed doors.

New arms deals shouldn't be discussed in secret - David Maynier
David Maynier
17 July 2013
DA MP writes to defence portfolio committee expressing his opposition to a "closed meeting" on the matter
No secret meeting on new arms deals for defence committee
I will be writing to the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans, StanleyMotimele, requesting him to explain why he has scheduled a "closed meeting" on defence acquisition on 23 July 2013.
The Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans oversight programmeincludes a briefing by the Department of Defence and Armscor between 09h00 and 16h00 on Tuesday 23 July 2013 at Defence Headquarters in Pretoria.
The purpose of the meeting according to the programme is to provide "a comprehensive briefing on the current defence acquisition plan and procedure; as well as defence materiél required for the Defence Force to perform its duties and missions."
However, the programme clearly indicates that the meeting will be a "closed meeting" because, according to the programme, "given the expected sensitive nature of information that will be presented to the Committee (and which is linked to defence and national security), approval to hold this meeting in camera will be sought from the Speaker of the National Assembly.
That a meeting has been scheduled on defence acquisition by the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans is a positive development because for the past four years no detailed briefing on defence acquisition has been provided to Parliament.
The former Minsiter of Defence and Military Veterans, Lindiwe Sisulu, refused to disclose any information about project names, the goods and/or services being acquired, the delivery schedules, or budgets for any defence acquisition projects on the Strategic Capital Acquisition Master Plan.
The Secretary of Defence, Dr. Sam Gulube, consistently refuses to reply to questions about defence acquisition from members of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans. Details about defence acquisition are "not for public consumption" according to Dr. Gulube.
This is bizarre because there is a significant amount of information about existing defence acquisition projects such as "Project Hoefyster" (acquisition of infantry vehicles), "Project Saucepan" (acquisition of maritime surveillance aircraft) and "Project Biro" (acquisition of offshore patrol vessels) already in the public domain.
The Department of Defence will channel R27.2 billionthrough the Special Defence Account between 2009/10 and 2013/14. A significant proportion of thismoney is believed to be spent on defence acquisition. However, Parliament has never been briefed on how money, channelled through the Special Defence Account, has been spent.
I will, therefore, be writing to the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans, Stanley Motimele, requesting him to:
*.Disclose whether the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, or the Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Solly Shoke, or any other person requested a "closed meeting" on defence acquisition and, if so, to provided the committee with copies of all the relevant correspondence;
*.Disclose whether he has been in contact with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Max Sisulu, to request approval for a "closed meeting" and, if so, to provide the committee with copies of all the relevant correspondence; and
*.To provide justification to schedule a "closed meeting" on defence acquisition.
We are not going to sit back and allow the details of new arms deals to be swept under the carpet at Parliament.

NaijaPikinGidi: Rather it looks to me that you are never going to challenge your brain beyond its factory-fitted 33% capacity to debate intelligently.

I will respond one last time ... the military DDI made an official statement that the senator you are refering to have failed to rebut! Stop offering us hearsays ... the Governor and Senator never went to Baga to verify the HRW and Amnesty stories that they blindly relied on. Once more kindly point to firsthand accounts/evidence by the Senator/Governor that are independent of the false international newsreports and stories. 200 ... 228 or whatever numbers you cite will remain for you to prove. 30 insurgents were killed while civilians and security forces shared the balance of the casualty figure.

You are so hopelessly helpless! grin grin grin
Stop wasting my time because you will never convince me with propaganda.

CNN has reported on this
BBC has touched it
AL-Jazeera investigated it and have all came with one common results which is 228 people killed.

Your senator visited the area and witnessed as the bodies were buried and came out to lash at your government for planting seed of propaganda for downplaying number of casualties.

South Africa knows, the world knows and even heaven above knows how many souls it received that day. May their soul rest in peace.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:16am On Aug 18, 2013
agaugust: you dont know how government defense policy and economic policy run together.

every regional power in africa has its own season of re-arming and modernizing its military with new weapons.

large scale weapons purchase and modernization of military equipment is often a 5 to 10 year plan.

morocco and nigeria are at that stage now. south africa has done 90% of what it will buy between 1998 to 2008. egypt and algeria too have done 90% of new weapons purchases.

nigeria started around 2007 and is only about 30% way done with new weapons purchase. read @THIZA's post of what nigerian president Jonathan said, it is actually telling you that nigerian military will be equal to or better than egypts military by the time we are done with modernization of weapons.

nigeria has purchased and is awaiting delivery starting from this year :

12 units of L-15 Falcon 4.5 generation supersonic trainer/light attack jet

4 units of Stealth guided missile warships

more units of Mi-35 helicopter gunships

35 sandcat MRAPS

200 mountain lion MRAPS

12 Fennec AS555 naval attack and anti-submarine helicopters

we are expecting decision on :

4.5 generation air superiority fighter (likely SU-30 Flanker or JF-17 Thunder)

decision has been made and we awaits contracts signing on :

AKASH SAM 35km range anti-aircraft missile and air defense integrated systems

there is a timeline of about 3 years from now for purchase of :

2 landing ships

1 mine-countermeasure ship

2 missile corvettes

10 long range maritime patrol helicopters

3 attack submarines.

http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4023&Itemid=363

nigeria is buying all the above because we are over-due for large scale weapons modernization as it happens to all military forces around the world. even israel, japan, and south korea are all due for military modernization especially their jet fighters and naval fleets.

south africa is NOT going to do any more major heavy weapons purchase for the until maybe after year 2035 when the Gripens, Valours, and Type 209s are due for overhaul or replacement/major upgrade due to obsolescence.

the reason countries buy weapons in peace time is to avoid obsolescence, not just for fancy the way you dream on your bed.

why should south africa waste tax payers money on new warships, helicopter gunships, sumbarines, etc ? why ?

due to lack of cash, south africa's 26 Gripen jets cannot be maintained and half is in cold room frozen storage. only maximum of 8 qualified pilots are available to fly 26 Gripens because of lack of money to fund training operations.

these whole south african air force Hawk jets, Rooivalk helicopter gunships, Gripen jets have not k.illed on single mosquito in the air since the over 7 years ago you purchased them.

south african navy Type 209 submarines and Valour Frigate warships have not fought combat against one single sardine fish in the ocean since over 7 years ago you bought them.

now you say south africa will buy more of these multi-billion dollar weapons, you must be under the influence of alcohol.....let the south african tax-payers and slum dwellers catch you.....100 zulu men will use machetes to perform a brain surgery on you @Fighter Pilot grin grin grin

https://www.defenceweb.co.za/images/stories/AIR/Air_new/Gripen_Cape_Town_Frans_Dely_400x300.jpg

.
Why should we need Agaugust approval to buy weapons? We will continue to procure weapons even beyond 2020. After everything else has been realised we will start with new projects, among them plans to procure Aircraft carrier and a fleet of fifth generation fighters. As for project 2020, the treasury has already approved funds for those major projects to start as early as next year which will also create jobs for the poor as many ships will be built here.

NaijaPikinGidi: Blockhead South African. You have refused the answer the questions. Why have the same Governor and Senator not disputed the facts by the military DDI about the baseless reports of your Amnesty and HRW liars? Other than alJazeera which other news sources went to Baga to view the situation and verify the bogus stories? Senator and Governor confirmed what? Did anyone of them get to Baga after the incident or were their claims just bandwagon induced? Please go and sit down where you belong ... you bloody Boko Haram sympathiser!! The alJazeera video evidence confirms the military's position. Baga eye witnesses in the video have confirmed the military's position. Nigerian satelite images of Baga have made a mockery of the HRW and Amnesty stories, yet you want to keep exhibiting your stupidity!

Anyways, memories of your Marikana are with you today ... Police against poor and defenceless miners, whereas whenever Baga is remembered it will be to the credit of the Nigerian Army that the terrorists/insurgents were dislodged and defeated for the relative peace and harmony of the people, community and nation!

I surely wasn't expecting any credible sources ... and you proved me right! This unreliable source must be your sum total of all newspapers and international news indeed!! Kindly use your brain beyond its current 33% capacity if you can, grin grin grin Ode buruku!!
It looks to me you didn't read what the senator has said. The senator confirmed the killing of 228 meaning he was hundred percent certain that the afore-mentioned number of massacre was correct.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by FighterPilot(m): 6:11pm On Aug 17, 2013
@Agaugust- South Africa will not procure its arms with a borrowed money. Our total revenues collected at the end of every financial year amount to over $130 billion. That is where our government will take to realise their goals of project 2020 of transforming and modernising our military. All our borrowed money was used to augment to the infrastructural development and powerstation.

i can speak with the authority of an accountant.

Debt is ONLY good if used for production of consumer goods and services to provide measurable benefits for the company that borrows to do business and make profit, or the government that invests the debt in economic growth especially to increase production of essential utilities and consumables as well as improve the standard of living and quality of life of its people.

show me how another batch of new south african navy submarines and warships will lead to more production of goods and services for the citizens of south africa to live a better quality of life.....will people cook and eat missiles and torpedoes in soweto ?

who is south african military going to war against with these new weapons to be purchased ? Russia ? Rhino Poachers ?

dont deceive yourself, south africa is not buying those new multi-billon dollar weapons on your imaginary wish list produced in dream-land. go feed your hungry people with food....bombs and bread have same shape, but not same utility.

I do not understand what do you stand to gain from going about the google to search pictures of destitute people.

America which is regarded as the giant of the world is still struggling to fight poverty even to this day. There is no country in the world that can fight poverty to 100% and poverty will still linger for many years to come.

Nigerias poverty is even worst than that of SA to extent that even its citizens have resorted in eating humans and dogs. There are no grants and service delivery in Nigeria, yet their government buy weapons and what is wrong with SA if it does the same. SA government is the only government in Africa that seems to care for the welfare of its citizens. So I guess you will spare those words of advice to Jonathan to stop him from procuring arms and instead vote his budget to the welfare.

South Africa will continue to procure those arms whether you like it or not. It is part of the project 2020 to modernize our military and replace all old equipments and weapons by 2020. Poverty is dealt with from time to time and has its own budget which is implemented by the department of Social development and department of housing through reconstruction and development programme.

NaijaPikinGidi: The boldened portion of your comment above speaks a lot about the stupidity of your average South Africans and the cruelty of your trigger happy policemen!

Two hundred people killed in your imaginary cross-fire in Baga! You must be demented to no ends by the fact that not more than 36 people in total were killed (approx. 90% of them being insurgents). Even Aljazeera's Yvonne Ndege showed the world the grave site in Baga where the bodies were buried. If miners were seen attacking Police with sticks and clubs ... how about knowing clearly that insurgents were seen carrying military grade weapons in their attack of peace-loving Nigerian civilians and law/security enforcement agents of the Nigerian state? Clubs and military grade weapons ... now tell us which is a real threat because I am worried to no ends about how wasted your SA brains are ... that you'd rather glorify the wickedness of terrorists on innocent Nigerians and villify the heroic efforts of the security and military forces that fight to protect the innocent citizens.

Clearly we know where you stand. Police protection of capitalist exploiters of your poor miners is better than our security forces repulsion of dangerously armed terrorists/insurgents threatening the peace of innocent north-eastern Nigerians? Why has the HRW and Amnesty International not rebutted the solid evidence by the military HQ that shows the accurate details of casualty figures and physical loses in Baga?

The Marikana that you bring up was clearly an unnecessary police massacre o.rgy of innocent miners while Baga is a military operation that repelled fully armed and rampaging insurgents/terrorists to protect civilians!

You are so desperate today!! But you still have no argument! Please go jump in a pool and cool-off from your show of stupidity. It's a weekend afterall . grin grin grin

I still stand with over 200 people Killed in Baga by your military. All newspapers and international news confirmed it. Moreover was even confirmed by United Nations and none of the media ever mentioned anything like over 30 people were killed. That's a propaganda broer!!
