agaugust: did you read the first post on page 305 ? my post. if dont tell lies about what is not possible. i am not on this forum to win an arguement, i humbly say with due respect to everybody on nairaland, that i am here to educate people who have interest in war knwoledge.
i only waited for about 5 south africans to simulate Gripen a_ttack on Roland, so that i will show how 5 south africans including 2 soldiers can be d_efeated by one nigerian civilian.
have you ever seen me afraid of anybody on any real battle field tactics or war strategy arguement on this forum ? check my 1,200 posts...i am more of a war fighter than a copy paste weapons data type of person.
i will reply when i get enough south africans accepting my challenge. i want you guys to outnumber me at least ratio 5:1 Then, that way there's no point arguing you. YOU LOSE!!! Even your brothers have seen you long ago that you are just a dead man walking by trying to shine with your last kick techniques from a dying horse. |

Defenceweb: AUGUSTINE IS A FRAUD
We have given our simulations of how Umbani and Paveway could very easily hit Roland without coming near the range of the Roland missiles. YOU are the one that claimed Umbani cannot hit Roland, but yet you refuse to give any evidence of why this is so. We have waited and waited, and now our only conclusion is that you are a fraud. Admit to your sins. State it here publically that you made a mistake, and we all shall forgive you. Or else give us the proof to back up your claim that Umbani and Paveway CANNOT hit a Roland SAM position. As long as we have a GPS position, Umabani and Paveway will hit it. Your best friend Wikipedia even states that Roland is poor at defending against incoming munitions. We are tired of waiting....give us your proof. Or you will be labelled a fraud. The umbani is just too much to stress any dense air defence in the world. Even Mokopa will be effective at the range of 10kM which dwafs that of Roland's 5.5km. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mokopa |

TRUTH COMES OUT FINALLY
south african soldier @andrewza talks about south african army's 36 year old Ratel infantry fighting vehicle below....
....this means @andrewza has finally proved to us that nigerian army Roland SAM air defence missile at 28 years old is still very effective, because he says intead of talking about its age, watch out for what it can do, so Roland is very effective.
thank you sirs. case closed. Missiles are different from IFV's, missiles have the so called shelf life and technical limits. |

agaugust: every country in the world has a weapons acquisition plan project that you call 'wish list'. south africa's project biro too is a wish list hoping to acquire new navy corvettes when you cannot even afford to maintain more than 8 Gripen jets out of the 26 jets you have, and no money to train more than 21 pilots for 50 Jets Hawk and Gripen.
then you still have a mouth to boast here ? are y.ou a.lchol intoxicated ?
Taurus KEPD missile you mentioned above does NOT exist today for south african Gripen jets, so it is also part of your country's long wish list.
your fellow south african soldier @andrewza just confirmed in his post i quoted above that 60 year old weapons can be very effective in battle because they dont fight based on their age, and that includes nigerian Roland SAM which is only 28 years old, far less than the age given by your fellow soldier above.
also, i am expecting you coward @Fighter Pilot to be a man not a boy, and show me your courage, join your 3 south african brothers who have written their own simulation of Gripen attack on Roland, since you say it is easy to d.estroy Roland, prove it to us and avoid the shame of making false claims on this forum. Listen here drunkard, SA does not dream, she manufactures her own weapons. Denel now is exploring possibilities of manufacturing their own version of KEPD 350 in the near feature. The great news is that missiles do not take many years to develop, the only difficult part is to design the prototype. Example will be that of A-Darter which we already boast in our SAAF. |

nigeria army a joke you say ? how about seleka rebels vs south african army ? You are such a fool, that's why your fellow soldiers have lost the battle against Boko Haram and instead killed scores of civilians to falsely claim to the world that they belong to the terrorist group. Defeat Boko Haram first other than asking the US for help. |

So the simulation can go both ways. Nigeria's UAV are still in the womb and there is no hope that the project will ever be successful. |

DictatorZAR: 1) Don't talk about ships and submarines you don't have or have plans to get in 10 years time because even if you have a few man in Pakistan training on Subs, it doesn't guarantee you will get any soon. If you do get subs you do know it wouldn't be the same as those been used by Pakistan which by the way isn't even some of the most modern subs compared to the Type-109. By the way Nigeria don't have billions of dollars as you claim to spend on arms and don't talk about your socalled $50bn reserves because as a so "accountant" you should know that the reserves is a guarantee for future import and export of goods and services. With a budget 3times smaller then SA and a military budget of less then $3,6bn including a larger force how the hell would you manage/balance such a budget. So stop dreaming in your Fulani. Herdsman village.
2) The IGIRI APC is a total joke its not in the same class as 1970's APC's, that thing is not meant for war zones, its protection to armour is pathetic. You fail to remember SA/Denel is one of the Pioneer of armoured protected personnel carriers.
3)Pirates don't even fear your 300 gunboats and Naval ship, with all this small crafts why is Nigerian waters rated as the 2-3 most dangerous waters to sail in. The NAN is a joke it can't protect its 800km coastline effectively with all its socalled world class T-crafts and boats, and don't come with the 1000 creeks story because with all those boats 800km of coastline isn't large compared to 2400km coastline of SA including our 4 ofshore Islands, Mozambique channel under our Territorial control/patrol.
4) The Rooikat 105mm guns are good enough to take out all Nigeria's T55 and T72 MBT's, thought the MBT's have more protection, the Rooikat has better range, faster and better maneuvering then the T72's. You should also remember we manufacture it ourselves so we can build 100's more if the need be, and this goes for the Badger also which Denel Manufactures.
5) You talk about the Rooivalk yet you forget the same Hinds Nigeria and all other African Nations use is now under Denel Avionics maintenance control and we are the only country on the continent credited to do upgrades on all Mi-Hinds. The Rooivalk after its 2012 midlife upgrades is still one of the top 5 AH machines in terms of range, speed and firepower even though its not been war tested, so let's wait and see how things go in DRC where they've been deployed now.
6) 43 units of G6 is still better then 50 units of bofor Archers 155mm artillery systems, mind you while Nigeria has to import bofors Denel manufactures G6's and can build 1000's if need be at lower coast at wartime because its owned by our goverment, we don't need to rely on foreigners like Nigeria in almost all its heavy artillery systems.
Stop living in a fools world and dream about being better when Nigeria's military Budget can't even match Egypt(US Aided) and SA budget.
Lastly I saw you @Aguagust or @Henry stating that Nigeria has the largest military force on the continent, I'm sorry boys that title belongs to the Egyptian Forces and that's a Facts. You Naija boys should really stop being blind Patriots/LIARS.
That's very easy, Nigeria does not have ching-ching, Benjamins or so called money. We South Africans have plenty of money. Our government pension scheme (GEPF) has more than $120 billion ( http://www.gepf.gov.za/index.php/news/article/address-by-john-oliphant-gepf-principal-executive-officer-to-the-cape-town) whose money is not even in reserve (world bank) but in the SARB. The government can borrow that money without any hesitation. |

What is wrong with this pathetic Nigerian? All that he is on about is Nigeria's wish list of weapons. I wonder if Nigeria will use that wish list to fight its battle. Moreover he is waning forever about his outdated and phased-out Roland SAM's. Many countries that have been using those dinosaurs have long upgraded to more advanced SAM's which are more relevant to the war against modern new generation fighter jets. Do you even know that SAAB JAS 39 Gripen can arm with Taurus KEPD 350 missiles http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/KEPD_350 which can penetrate dense air system at long ranges. Besides Roland SAM's only hit targets at close range (7000m) with a luck and more than that it becomes ineffective. New generation fighter jets have the ability to manuevre and manipulate Roland SAMs |

Better stop telling lies here. Agaugust in simple English, I know that you are such a difficult subject to deal with. South Africa is by far miles awy from Nigeria in terms of TECHNOLOGY!!! That's a fact, even the Americans will not deny it. You rely on china for their fake technology, while they themselves are using European tech. SA build and manufacture her own weapon and missile. Isn't nice that we command missile that are made in our own country. BEWARE OF UMBANI AND MOKOPA BOY!!! |

Henry120: First 2 paragraphs, I completely dis agree with you, but I'd make no further comments on those for now.
Last paragraph, I also completely dis agree, but I'd add a comment or two or more in fact
SA's military is not better than that of nigeria. not even by a small margin like you claim. Nigeria is ahead, both in weaponry, numbers of weaponry, numbers in troops and also logistics. The army has shown, particularly in this era that despite been well stretched it can absorb pressure and still mobilise enough to man-power, personnel and logistics were ever needed.
In other words, economists would say, the nigerian military has passed her "stress test".
The malian example, best buttresses this point.
Despite having large numbers of troops deployed to various hot spots in west and central africa Sudan Guinea Liberia Sirrea-leone Ivory coast And internal security duties
We still contributed 1200 troops with their equipments & logistics , 3 attack helicopters, 3 transport planes and 4 fighter jets to mali.
Let me reiterate only in the areas of fighter jets and submarines, is the SA military ahead of nigeria. Chief, in your dreams!! Which Nigerian weapons are better than that of SA? Nigeria is one military that is still using the old technology to this age. You've got plenty of weaponry, but majority of them are just dinosaurs which have no relevance to this era of technology. The whole world knows that SA is on the forefront in Africa in terms of military technology, not even Egypt can come close to that record. |

"JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - South African police have reopened their investigation into a controversial arms deal after Swedish defense group Saab admitted bribes were paid to clinch a contract, according to a July 31 report.
Officials will approach authorities in Sweden and Britain to find out what their investigations have uncovered about allegations of corruption in the 1999 deal for 26 JAS Gripen fighter jets, South Africa's Sunday Times reported.
Saab last month admitted that 24 million rand ($3.6 million, 2.5 million euros) in bribes had been paid to south africans secure the deal, but blamed its former British partner BAE Systems for making the payoffs."

FRANCE are enemies of SA because they see us as the only giants in Africa who are disturbing their operations in Africa. They wanted to have their hands on the wealth of CAR, but their mission was short lived the moment SA started to intervene and went ahead to lie that we were mercenaries. They refused to defend the government of Bozize based on the fact that there was too much of SA involvement and their racist president ordered them to retreat from the mission. Those lies will not stop us from carrying out our duties and responsibilities of defending Africa from imperialists and we will continue to discourage the operations of France in Africa. Let Africa solve its own problems. |

And to this day not a single family member or friend has said anything? They all got paid to keep quiet If you believe that, then it means you also believe in the tooth fairy. Please don't post rubbish with so called anonymous sources. Why did that so called source remain anonymous? Scared that SA troops would go back to Bangui airport and kill him? Boko Haram has claimed that Nigerian troops are dropping their weapons and running away....do you Nigerias also believe that? These rebel groups such as Seleka and Boko Haram dont mind telling lies when faced with a bigger force. And to answer Augustine, yes Seleka was heavily armed with technicals. SA troops on the ground only had mortars, rockets and their rifles. No armour, no artillery etc etc. That one was supersonic, just imagine people being paid to keep mum. Just imagine being paid for the death of the breadwinner without close friends and neighbours noticing the abrupt disappearance of their loved ones. no need to even spy your country, all south african weapons imported from overseas are detailed for public information in wikipedia, general military internet websites like armyrecognition.com, international public arms/weapons transfer logs/registers like SIPRI of sweden, UN REGISTER, IISS military balance, JANES Defense, etc.
also the domestically manufactured weapons made in south africa are also all fully detailed with all technical specifications on free internet in the effort to find export buyers in the international market.
just google it and you get it. so where is the secret ? or you have nuclear weapon in your own b.edroom ?
see the full face photo below of colonel pierre venter the leader of south african air force Grippen jet pilots, likely your best fighter jet pilot, its free on internet, i just googled it, simple. one of your scarce, precious qualified 8 or 6 Grippen jet pilots

now the propaganda lies from south africa is proved wrong by radio france international
“And according to another source the death toll could be even higher,” the RFI reporter added. “The source, who wants to remain anonymous, was at the French military base on Monday March 25, the day after Bangui fell to the rebels. He said he counted at least 50 body bags about to be loaded onto a Hercules transport plane heading for Pretoria. All the while, other dead bodies of South African soldiers kept arriving.”
Bensimon said that other military and diplomatic sources had confirmed to him that the number of South Africans killed was “more than 40”.

agaugust: you want me to counter your views ? okay here it is below.
...but it sank all your navy ships to sea bottom
the less number of valour ships you bring to nigerian coastline of 800km, the less effective your naval blockades, even ordinary pirates will sail ships through the porous leaking gaps on wide sea between your few scanty warships that can only be in one place at a time and travel slower than a running horse/animal.
also the fewer valour warships south africa brings, the more artillery shells ratio will be showered like rain of fire on each of your warships and the quicker it will sink. and when they sink, nigeria will release its world class 300 navy gun boats/fast attack crafts to send all the surviving south african sailors who abandon-ship in floating life jackets on water surface or tiny dinghy boats to meet their creator above in heaven...or hell
the extra anti-aircraft missiles umkhonto you load on south african valour frigate is useless because i did not fly any nigerian jet fighter aircraft to attack your ships, i am not a FOOL, i have good combact tactics training in my office. i used only nigerian air force ATR-42 Surveyors maritime patrol aircraft to fly safely 30km away out of range of south african navy anti-aircraft umkhonto missiles with only 15km missile range. ATR-42 surveyor aircraft can do its job 100km away from enemy forces, safe out of reach.
i dont even need to use ATR-42 surveyor, the nigerian satellites are enough to locate, track, target, report GPS co-ordianet positions, then direct and constantly re-direct nigerian army artillery fire-power to sink all south african navy down to sea bottom.
nigeria has more gas than oil, you dont know. also i said the west african gas pipeline runs from nigeria to ghana on land and we continue to export safely and make money as usual. also a trans-sahara oil pipeline is in project stage to run from nigeria to algeria for europe and american export customers. we will shut down off-shore platforms and use the crude oil export barges that pirates use along the shallow coastline of nigeria and export crude oil through west african coast, cameroon and benin are just few kilometers away from nigerian borders and once the barge sails there protected behind the decoy shield of extra empty barges, the barges are in another country's territorial waters goint to francophone Total/Elf oil and gas ships. nigeria continues to export crude oil easily.
we can also let south africa attack the off shore oil facilities which are property of american, british, french, chinese, and italian companies exxon-mobil, shell, agip, total/elf, etc, just K.ill these w.hite m.en and you F00LISHLY drag the worlds biggest super powers to attack your south african navy ships and submarines....same mistake of Japan in war history 1941 pearl harbour attack on america which dragged america to join world war II in anger and the americans dropped two atomic bombs on Japan as a reward of F00LISH war strategy of Japan.
dont be FOOLISH to say nigeria has no logistics to move about 800 artillery guns to the coast, they are already there in large numbers in the many nigerian army artillery barracks along the coastal states in lagos, ogun, ondo, edo, delta, rivers, akwa ibom, and cross river states. the 100 archer and palmaria artillery are self propelled artillery and they move by themsleves like a car or lorry, the engine only needs petrol/diesel. the other towed artillery needs only a small lorry to tow them around and there are thosuands of lorries and trucks or trailers in nigeria, and the army has its own huge fleet of 4x4 and 6x6 towing trucks in our army logistics commands.
also dont be a FOOL to say nigerian towed artillery may not be working, why not ? towed artillery has no real engine like a ship or even a car, all it needs is just oil and grease and it will work perfectly as it is just a mechanical piece of parts fitted together and very cheap to maintain.
rather it is south africa that will have a major trouble of logistics by sailing warships and submarines for a journey about 5,000km from south africa to nigeria, and we know your country cannot afford to maintain its Grippen jets to fly, 12 out of 26 jets in long term cold storage and only 8 pilots maximum available to fly them in the whole south african air force.
south africa is the one that will have serious logistics difficulty doing a naval blockade 5,000km away in nigerian waters.
no radar needed by nigeria, i am not using any nigerian warship and artilley guns use no radar and far away on land beyond range of south african total 4 pieces of 76mm guns with short range of maximum 16km and only effective up to 8km. nigerian satellite uses no radar and is far away in outer space beyond enemy reach and ATR-42 uses electro optical, infra-red, and long range television video camera image relay systems, and electronic mapping devices to track but uses no radar. nigerian ATR-42 Surveyor is one of the most modern in the whole world and it is a master ocean surveyor in action, and it is safe 30km away out of range of 15km south africa anti-aircraft missiles.
south african submarine will just roam about nigerian waters wasting its time and running out of fuel/diesel, i did not sail any nigerian warchip for the submarine to see and torpedoe, all nigerian navy ships are removed safe to inside the port/dockyard/dry dock/shallow inland rivers/water creeks where the submarine cannot submerge safely below water level or else it will run aground and get damaged and trapped in the water bed for ever unable so sail back home.
from my answer above, we dont need ASW weapon, but if we want to use it, ATR-42 Surveyor is a modular aircraft technically the same as ATR-72 ASW, we just import the anti-submarine sonar, torpedoes and few extra hardware, then we hunt and d.estroy your submarine after we sink the valour frigates with nigerian army artillery and there is no more anti-aircraft threat.
i just stopped the naval blockade above. Gas and Oil exports continued above as i explained.
i dont need to try again sir....i already ended your military career.
CONCLUSION :
I did not reply your counter-counter attack that day on page 236 because your response was a F00LISH military error that will disgrace the whole south african navy, and i have a habit of not saying everything i know at once, i save some information for later use.
i started my simulation by refusing to use nigeria's new anti-submarine weapons on order from france or to add ASW hardware to ATR-42 surveyor, i did not use the 100 mobile long range artillery and the 4 new stealth warships nigeria is awaiting from china and india, and yet nigeria still wins the battle. imagine what nigeria will do to south africa if we deploy our full military might against you.
all the combined admirals in your south african navy cannot break through that nigerian coastal defense, they will all be sunk to sea bottom in 5 minutes, and south africa will have no navy anymore, your navy becomes history.
see the photo i posted here, of a ship tracked and located by a satellite from outer space, good way to d.estroy a stealth warship instead of using imperfect radar.
good night @andrewza, remember to hang your south african navy uniform on a mango tree. Don't worry, one day you will grow up and start to realise some of your mistakes. I hope that time would come when this post will still be hanging here, so that you will personally be disgraced everytime you see it. |
