The Best investment of all times is FOREX, you can either trade or invest with calculated risk.

Some brokers like http://www.rally.trade/?utm_source=introducingbroker-348636 have made it easier for us to cash on this great opportunity.
Nice write-up and rich analysis of the state of the nation, profit taking in any venture embarked upon by any Nigerian whether individual of private establishment has really affected micro economic balance over the past two years as can be seen from fuel marketers,FMCG goods sellers .
The whole thing boils down to GREED!!!,if we can be sincere to ourselves and look inward things will improve within a space of 3 years with government sincerity in the implementation and execution vibrant economic policies ,we as individuals should reduce our crave for foreign goods consumption by at least 60% and see the improvement in our forex ,what most manufactures do is just to request for forex for importation of raw materials and sell them in. The parallel market .
We really need to change our orientation

1) It's your project, its supposed to be fun so do whatever you wish to do regardless of whose Ox is gored.

2) I encourage you to go out solo like I did and ccheck stuff out. Don't be shy, show picture of similar things that you want and they'll bring it out. They don't bother to display the expensive stuff because most buyers s are not interested.
Just imagine shipping costing $2,000 equivalent of 1million Naira,we just need to look inward and conserve foreign exchange,

Hello sir! Infact i couldn't agree more with you. I know one thing and I can argue it with any Oyinbo man any day any time. The day we Nigerians can take Furniture and wood works serious, coupled with an enabling manufacturing environment, Nigeria can start exporting wood works and furniture Overseas. Because we have the raw Materials and we have the Labour.
Thanks bro,

The truth be told our government over the years have failed the people, take for example if you are familiar with Benin-URUBI,USELU DAWSON RD et-al,The quality furniture produced in these area are superb with good craftsmanship ,what stops the state government from creating a furniture hub within that area t o improve the lives of the people and in same vein aid exportation of these furnitures for foreign exchange earnings for the state

So...who rationalizes exactly?...the one who made mockery of local options and building methods, only to revert to the same which are supposedly not good enough? If you had the capacity to absorb and rationalize my comments, you would have deduced that the joke is on those who thought nothing of local content or should i say pretended to ....In the name of what?

This isnt about exchange rates or rising costs. Or local or international standards. No matter the economy of the jungle, the lion cannot eat grass. this is about thinking you're suddenly above others because you manage to cross the Atlantic and you're managing to eke a living in some forgotten borough somewhere....

Attempting to innovate and challenge the norm is one thing, Making empty noise all over the place and blowing hot air just for self aggrandizement is another.

I must say that some of us looked into the alternatives and try to implement them, but after much effort and dealing with our societal constraint, it was only wise to do what's traditional and implement new methods where do able. The Fx thing, also a deterrent. Some items you see abroad for, say $200, if you can look pass the New Brand, there are functional alternative already from Euro that are like #50K. So if you do he conversion, its not worth the headache of custom.
True2home,

We cannot afford the luxury of wasting foreign exchange now, whether euro or dollar irrespective of the conversion factor or indices, to be candid with you despite the societal constraints we still have artisans that will give something close or better than the imported items we so crave for.

The attached picture is my sitting room furniture ,done by some guy in lagos since 2008, I doubt you will believe it's not imported, we have the manpower capacity to deliver quality goods and services but the government over the years has not provided the enabling environment to elevate us from the present state of under development we are in

Please don't blame the man ooo, with wetin dollar and pounds dey talk now I don't think its worth it importing those items for now, however if you can get good quality materials here why import, let's grow our trading economy and allow our brothers over here to make some income.

I believe when oga egunmogaji want to build his main house in banana island all this gizmo him don talk about him go import them and use them there .

Let us commend this man now he has opened our eyes to other building alternatives which we are not aware of like the water piping he showed us video of,though may be difficult to adopt here as over there they have strict building codes and ethics which we may not adhere to achieve optimal performance

Just my own contribution!!!

To answer your question

1- Its more expensive to use, as a piece of the conventional 9 inch Block cost N200 while this red one I heard is up to N700 as of recently.

2- It can withstand load a lot, but also to some extent. but far more than our conventional.

3- Yes it can be use for decking of floor slab

4- it is highly durable.
Thanks, this will put me on the right part in making decisions

Please i will need your advice on the use of clay brick/blocks for building as I am fascinated as regards your display of expertise in one of your build pictures attached.

I have the following questions

1, is it cheaper to use this type of bricks hen building
2. Is it very strong to withstand load
3, can it be used in decking for a first floor building
4. Durability

Wil appreciate a detailed response to above questions

True talk guy,

See picture of a Bally I got alongside the Hugo boss ,very nice shoe cheaper than the hugo ,the only snag is that the shoe is a size 10 ,while I wear 10.5 or 11 ,the thing no size me so I am disposing it off,

Really we as Nigerians need to look beyond all this name hype and just be ourselves as this will reflect the true worth of an individual. A times you see people well packaged in terms of gear one outing say N200k ,try and engage the person in any discousrse on contemporary issues you will be dissaapointed.

Right on point, if you see some so called designer items (original) are really not appealing ,if you are told the price you will not believe it's really worth it due to its appearance, I was given an HUGO BOSS shoe by an inlaw from the states, if you see this shoe you won't even pay N10,000.00 for it

The way we crave for "designer labels ". Is really disgusting, once you are not putting on any designer labels, friends and colleagues see you as inferior and not in tune with current dress sense.

My dress sense is simple, once I put on something and it looks nice and fits my posture/stature even if total package is less than N20,000 I am good with it.

You have just hit the nail on the head,concession/partial divestment would have been good at least to the original builders to teach us how to"crawl"again as far as the plant is concerned.but what I will not subscribe to is the yearly appropriation of funds to this project without a corresponding or measurable impact of allocated funds

[quote author= post=52906667][i]Seriously, I tire for some people o (just let them be my brother) . . . Ajaokuta needs between $500m to $1b to get all 43 plants firing, actually one of the plants with over 400,000 tonnes per year (N80b income) capacity needs just N43b to get it working along with its 110MW power plant (enough to power the behemoth and 3 nearby states), but we've spent over N23 trillion naira in the past 10 years importing steel from scarce forex!

Importing our jobs to China, India, and wherever, while we have a 2 million job monster rendered immobile!

If Steel and the complex is so useless, how come we have firms from the US, Ukraine, China and elsewhere bidding from $1-$2.6b to takeover the behemoth?

989900

Some of us will agree with this information to be correct, but the picture you are not seeing is that no matter the Amount t spent in the complex we can not achieve full operational capacity of the complex as result of endemic corruption. In the system

We have spent N23 trillion importing. Steel in the past ten years and we need N43 billion to get the plant working what stops the govetnment from putting structures/workable policies in place to ensure efficiency of complex?

Guy, in fact i will take it a step further, i wish i could go to the central bank of Nigeria and the Ministry of Finance and give every employee a copy of the book along with the President's economic council along with a copy of the book Atlas Shrugged cos it looks like none of this people understand what they are doing.
The thing dey pain me well, well, I worked in oil and gas company some years back, when it's time to run some project that is when you see guys coming up with templates that are being used in uk,usa to solve some problems ,by the time you go through the template you will not see any part that solves the problem on ground, just because they schooled abroad or has stumbled carros such template and believe it can fix all problem.

We as a nation have issues that are peculiar to our environment in most cases and I believe in solving the issue we need to relate it with our environment.

Bros, they truly need to make Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations required reading in every secondary school in Nigeria cos the lack of understanding of economics is really glaring not only on this thread but in the policies of our central bankers.

The bolded refres,we are really in trouble in this country, like I said in my previous post we just don't look at events/scenarios holistically before proffering solution simple secondary school economic laws if applied by our government in formulating policies relating to catalisation of of battered economy will simply do the magic instead of applying all the Harvard,Oxford economic theories which can only work in developed countries in Nigeria.

Man terrazzo is the best flooring of all times. When i went to visit my uncle in his country somewhere in europe i took a picturr of the terrazzo floor that was done in the house since the 60s. I was wondering if it was granite. No! Its terrazzo and the way it was done on the stairs you would think that they layed it on the floor and gummed it somehow. Infact i cannot understand how it was done. But i must be honest with you, terrazzo is second to none. If one can make do without those special designs just plan terrazzo without those black lines that divide them you would be amazed and another thing is that folks in nigeria, their pattern is a bit old school and they dont innovate. Here is a pic of what im talking about. It feels like im talking too much
Nice work, just be patient and take your time to look for one that can do terrazo flooring and possibly explore several innovative design or application with the guy and you will see the ingenuity in Nigerians.i believe some people still have the skills to deliver terrazo flooring just try that ORILE ODUNADE MARKET to inquire.
Please when you get don't forget to share the contact and works
Wish you all the best

Correct. I'm a big fan of terazzo but I was always discouraged by people. They say it is old-fashioned. I just believe expertise in it is not there so much now.
But nice marble tiles are pretty cool now. You can combine colours and designs using the modern tiles.
Area fada,

We have neglected good craftsmanship in favor of crap, that is why you see people buying substandard tiles after some years the beauty will fade, but with terrazo as soon as you polish it the beauty comes on.

To me when I build my house I will use terrazo once I get the person that can still do terrazo.take a census of terrazo houses and see how long lasting their floors are.
