Phones / Re: Nigerians Slam NCC’s IMEI, Phone IDs Directive: We Deserve Some Privacy by FlamingGun: 2:17pm On May 21, 2021
IMEI is specific to every device. If you change your phone, your IMEI changes. So if you can, give them the IMEI of a cheap 2K device, then change your SIM card to another device. Matter solved.

Culture / Re: How Carnival, Efik Calabar Culture Was Transported To Caribbean by FlamingGun: 12:08am On Jan 09, 2021
"Efik edi mbakara". Nothing can negate Efikness or Efik-being than these words. That Efik people really believe that they are "mbakara", white, speaks encyclopedic volumes about the Efik psyche.

When will the Efik accept who they are - Efik- exclusively? What troubles the Efik so much that they strive so hard to proclaim they are "mbakara", arrogating themselves a perceived but totally imaginary whiteness? How can the Efik nation thrive when they must first equate their culture first to "mbakarism", then to Judaism?

But there is no surprise here. Effiong Ukpong Aye, their leading beacon now dead, once claimed the Efik had Ghanaian ancestry!

The Efik will never feel happy enough in his skin because fundamentally, the Efik feels inferior to all other surrounding communities. The Efik must seek other references for validation, even if those references fall totally outside the realm of logic.

This debilitating mindset defines the Efik and remains the most singular reason Efikland is doomed. Since the Efik feel superior to the Ibibios and nations of northern Cross River (the later whom they refer to dismissively as "Atam people"wink, they have sadly fooled themselves into believing in their own delusions.

"Efik edi mbakara." Indeed.

Religion / Re: Chris Okotie With Armed Guards In Church (Picture) by FlamingGun: 4:05pm On Dec 11, 2013
Totally fake. Amateurish.

Even when lies are told, there should be some finesse. This jobs is so crude, so crude.

No, I don't give a spoon of warm spit about Okotie. But a story so blatantly fake should never have made the front page.

They did not invent those things because they were muslims.

They invented those things because they had a thinking brain and drank from knowledge flowing down the ages.

People don't invent things because they belong to some religion.

People invent things because they think, or necessity forces it on them.

Politics / Re: Oduah’s Airport Upgrade And Rehabilitation Is A Scam by FlamingGun: 10:48am On Nov 06, 2013
I am no Oduah supporter, but the steady stream of negative reporting principally from one source raises an eyebrow. SR and the past Minister of Aviation (a man of doubtful integrity, a mockery of maleness, in short a contemptible idiot) clearly have an axe to grind and will stop at nothing. After the failed attempt to bring down Arunma Oteh and Okonjo Iweala, the full force of their artillery is now Stella Oduah.

I have yet to read anything that substantially proves that Stella is what she has been painted to be. No public body has come up with evidence that she has dealt corruptly, has not followed due process, etc. Proof is what matters - and proof cannot be provided through spurious reporting and newspaper articles.

I encourage those pursuing Oduah to turn the same amount of attention to all other ministers, governors, permanent secretaries, etc. The more they focus solely on one individual who they obviously detest for not giving them a bite of the cake, for not even allowing them to come close the bakery, for resisting their thirst to have their way - their perceived "birth right", the more they prove that she has delivered. And what she has delivered will outlive her tenure as minister.

The Fani-Kayodes of this world and "we wan chop" unions can all go bury their nutty heads in the Sahara sands in shame!

You have received very good advice from most contributors to this thread.

FORGIVENESS IS KEY.

But you should also find out WHY she feels so insecure about sharing critical information with you.

Could it be that she cannot trust your judgment, or is not quite comfortable at your reaction?

Have you in the past abused the privileged information she shared with you?

Many here have blamed the priest. Perhaps dialogue with him in the presence of your wife would clarify things. Could he have acted with the understanding that you were aware of the project?

Please give your wife even more love during this critical period of your relationship. She will not respond well to bullying from you. Genuinely try to LISTEN to her fears and concerns, and address them calmly and maturely. You can actually turn this round into something very positive.

I wish you and your wife the very best.

Science/Technology / Re: An SS3 Student Build A Prototype Of Bulldozer And A Dump Truck. by FlamingGun: 5:29pm On Aug 29, 2013
What's a prototype?

The more one reads this board, the more one wonders! The kid can "tinker" with his toys, OK. But seeing such things as a breakthrough or the path to lead our nation somewhere is downright laughable. Of late, we've had a series of welders put together unsightly contraptions - and they are all hailed for "inventing" the next big thing, and asking the government for "assistance" to develop their "talent"!

Come on people! And for those who push these infantile topics to the front page, wake up please.

...and the choice of "flowers" on the condolence register table blows me off! Gaudy, because cheap artificial stuff. The "Dame" of Nigeria and all her cronies could do far better for her mother - and natural flowers are not so difficult to find. She could even have them flown in from heavenknowswhere.

It appears good taste is a hard commodity to find, especially among the "cream" of our catapulted politicians.

On a side note, Amechi's wife looks good.

Science/Technology / Nigeria Uses Its Satellites To Collect Data From Earth Orbit by FlamingGun: 7:55am On Aug 12, 2013
Yes, Nigeria has a space programme. Since 2003 the West African country has been operating its own satellites, three of which are currently collecting data from Earth orbit. But this week Nigeria's space agency came under fire after UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported on British politicians questioning why Nigeria is spending money on satellites while accepting foreign aid for the large proportion of its citizens who live in poverty.

In fact, the country's satellites support food production in the region and disaster relief around the world – including helping with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the US.

Nigeria's National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) launched its first orbiter, NigeriaSat-1, in 2003. The roughly $13 million cost was paid for by the Nigerian government, but it was built by Surrey Space Technology (SST) in the UK and launched from a Russian spaceport.

The spacecraft was equipped with high-resolution optical and infrared cameras. "They are there to look at agriculture production, improving food security," says Audrey Nice of SST. The satellite was also designed for environmental monitoring, such as tracking desertification and even locust swarms.
Eye on disaster

NigeriaSat-1 lasted until 2012, four years longer than expected. It was succeeded by NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X, which both launched in 2011 carrying similar instruments. These satellites were also made at SST, with Nigerian engineers helping to build the latter. In addition to a continued environmental mission, the satellites' high-resolution images of the country will help Nigeria review electoral boundaries ahead of its general elections in 2015.

The NigeriaSats are also part of the international Disaster Monitoring Constellation, coordinated by SST. This network of satellites includes Chinese, Spanish and UK spacecraft that can provide rapid images from space when environmental disasters strike.

In 2005 NigeriaSat-1 was the first satellite to send back pictures of the east coast of the US following Hurricane Katrina, says Nice. And the orbiter contributed images to aid workers following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Nigeria provides disaster-related imagery for free, but the country generates income from the satellites by selling other image data.

NASRDA also commissioned a Chinese-built communications satellite, NigComSat-1, that launched from China in 2007. The satellite lost power a year later and was replaced in 2011 by NigComSat-1R, which is currently providing broadcast and internet services in Nigeria.

Sixty what?

A second-hand Sienna probably from the States, where 60 would be 100 km in fine print.

In the water, he calmly released his seat belt.

Amazing reflexes!

And he remembers all the tiny details.

Hallelujah!!

Now he will start his own "ministry". Man of God must replace his car.

Go on with the relationship. If he loves and respects you, he will respect your religious choices. Of course, you too should respect his religion and not talk him into becoming a christian.

A solid relationship is built on love, trust and respect. If you have all three, then you are good to roll.

I am a christian but married to a muslim woman. I am talking from experience smiley.

One here, talking; fifty years.

Challenging but has its own rewards - like knitting a very close relationship with one's parents; like holding your own and counting on yourself when most people falter and give up; like not minding staying in a whole building alone because you've always been mostly alone; like creating your world even when surrounded by thousands.

However, you must cultivate a generous spirit. It does not come easily if you grew up an only child. You must seek to build lasting relationships and do your best to make them work.

Overall, thorns and roses!

Do not turn down a blue collar job. It's a start. These days, having a degree in any field is not an automatic door-opener.

Learn a skill; go knocking on doors (corporate doors), not necessarily with an application but a real offer to work even on part time. You may not be paid 50 000 but you will have an experience to add to your CV.

Drug-trafficking: you are on your own. You will be used as a mule and end up in prison, if not dead.
