femicyrus: Let us clap for GEJ becos top government officials are now using made in Nigeria cars. He is transforming nigeria! As if a worker with N18000 monthly that will pay house rent, Nepa bills, feed, pay children school fee, tranport, etc can afford it. Mobile phone that use to be the birthrite of the rich in naija is wat even a student can afford now. Nobody is clapping for OBJ When mobile phone came to Nigeria, it was a big deal, it was for the high and mighty, it was a status thing to own one, but gradually all of that changed and you are now singing a new song. We will get to that point with the auto soon, we are just starting my dear. Even clerks in my office who earn less than N30,000.00 monthly own cars. What then are you blabbing about? Nigerians also need to change the mentality that owning a car is exclusively for the rich. You see peeps condemning others for buying a car instead of building a house first. They also make snide comments when someone buys a car as if its a big deal. Until those thinking patterns change, we'ld always he in the doldrums. How many workers earning similar wages in other countries can buy cars. Don't talk like a morroof, please. If your earnings cannot afford you ceratin here in Nigeria, I believe those in other countries earning similar wages too may not be able to aford those things. Things may be bad in Nigeria, but they are certainly not as bad as you are making it look. |

otokx: That section is obiri Ikwerre interchange built by AMAECHI 100%, continue deceiving people.
Obiri Ikwerre is about 15 minutes drive from Uniport not in front of Uniport
If the road is complete, why spend $1bn on just a section.
There has been no light at UNIPORT for more than 4 months now, other areas affected are Rumokoro down to Uniport, Rumokoro down to Rumokwuta and through Mgbuoba down to Uniport including most parts if not all of Rumuigbo.
Tell that to your Master. Your Amaechi built the interchange(flyover/Roundabout) not the East-West Road passing under it. Your Amaechi tapped from the East-West Road on that section to make his own road. That is how government projects should sync. That was the same thing Oshiomhole did in Benin at Ugbowo/Uniben when he constructed service lanes on both sides of the Benin-Lagos Highway. There is nothing special about your Amaechi. Why did he not construct that interchange when the East-West Road was a footpath? Be objective in your criticisms. Don't be blinded by bare hatred and convivial politricking, those won't take you anywhere, because in the long run, you would be the worse for it. |

Go and see for yourself the Uyo-Calabar Road that would be expanded before they start work, do all the taxes involved, settlement of local people, logistics for movement of personnel, equipment and materials, so that you can come up with your own estimates and cost figures and then challenge the FG to Court to declare how they came about that huge amount. As a Nigerian you are entitled to that. Its your country as well as mine and belongsto every one of us. @Nissparts, I hope you also understand that Europeans are very traditional and as such prefer things they can trace down through history to traditions and customs unlike the Americans who are free-spirited and are always looking forward to innovations to change things from the status quo ante without recourse to whether there is an existing tradition or custom.
This alone affects a lot of choices Europeans make and they also try to persuade the rest of the World to attach the same or even more value than they themselves to such. In essence, the Hyundai might have improved so much that it would stand on the same pedestal with the BMW, but the European tradition and the fact that the BMW has been around much longer and proven itself over time. Consumers, especially high end (luxury car buyers) would invariably prefer the BMW to the Hyundai which would definately be preferred by the low end purchasers (hustlers and mid class peeps) who would be looking forward to be able to own a BMW one day.
These are just my thoughts anyway. What do you think Nissparts? |

I mean this is full option. But I doubt if the one sold here will come with these options, we normally get the trimmed down models. That should be the high end model. I think what they are offering now is basically the base amd mid-level models. Even some high end luxury sedans of Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, etc don't come with such perks. |

sooperrescue: FlyboyZee, Ajegunle and Banana Island are both in Lagos but the Ajegunle people nor get CCTV, Dogs and Alarm Center for them to fit sleep well for night. Na door bolt them take they lock their door for night. Comparing a BMW 2007 X6 with a 2014 Santa Fe is not good but in a true sense it is like comparing the tortoise and the dog to a race. Who will win knowing that the tortoise had arranged bones at strategic corners to distract the dog. BMW owners can attest to the fact that out of 365 days in a year, their cars were probably out of circulation for 60 days while the Santa Fe might just be out for 7 days in a year. In 1990, Sony and Samsung were not in the same category. Sony VHS was sold four times higher than Samsung. Samsung in Europe was for poor people who were not mindful about name. Today, Samsung is almost a par with Sony in all their products. That is the same comparison with the BMW X6 and Santa Fe With your analysis on the Sony & Samsung thingy, I don't think the Hyundai has gotten to that level yet. In Nigeria, any mobile object with an engine and powered by petrol with a sleek body or frame is a 'machine', but the real jiggers, the petrolheads (Apologies to Ikenna) know otherwise. Even the Americans and the Brits with all their sophistications still give it to the Germans when it comes to engineering, even in the Auto World. |

Tell your friend that there is absolutely no basis for comparism, both in price and quality/performance between the Beamer and The 'I wan Die'.
Advice him to compare his 'machine' (sic) lol to Toyota RAV 4 or Honda's CRV which is about the same price as his gongoni, but playing in a lower league.
Teach him never to mention BMW and Hyundai in the same sentence, even if he is just listing car manufacturers.
Let him understand that Banana Island and Ajegunle are both in Lagos State, but they are at the 2 ends of pole separated by the pole itself.
Tell your friend that we Nairalanders understand the euphoria he is basking in, as in buying a brand new car for the first time, but that is not enough reason to insult a BMW.
Explain to him that we apprecaiate the Koreans, they are trying, but BMW is way out of their league. Tell your friend to go and ask for the price of a used 2010 BMW X6 before he opens his mouth to talk in public next.
Thank you for understanding with me and advising your friend. |

Politics › Could This Be True About General Muhammadu Buhari? by FlyboyZee(op): 8:17pm On Oct 03, 2014 |
I saw this on my facebook wall and decided to bring it here lets see how Nairalanders would feel. NB: It is not my write-up and I am neutral and apolitical in this case. I thought He was the only clean Nigerian ex Leader.
E-X-P-O-S-E-D!!! BUHARI Is Corrupt And Not clean. by Adeyemi Adetuyi, Abuja:
**a man that stole $2.8billion in 1978 as NNPC Fed commissioner. **Buhari advised Muslims not to vote any Christian candidate. **as PTF Chairman, Buhari embezzled billions of Naira through over-invoicing of supplies & the supply of fake & expired drugs to hospitals Which Buhari is clean?
It is only in Nigeria that a man who embezzled $2.8 billion NNPC money while he was Federal Commissioner of Petroleum in 1978 will be described as disciplined, isn't it? "It is only in Nigeria that a man who led the criminal overthrow of a democratically elected government in 1984 would later wish to benefit from the same democracy.
"It is only in Nigeria that the man who, as Head of State, allowed 56 illegal suitcases of currency notes into the country through his ADC unchecked when there was currency change by his own government in the country at the time would be described as a man of his words. "It is only in Nigeria that the man who enacted RETROACTIVE DECREES and used them to murder Lawal Ojuolape, Bartholomew Owoh and Bernard Ogedengbe would be promoted as being better than others.
"It is only in Nigeria that the man who enacted vindictive decrees which prescribed long jail terms for journalists for publishing stories which embarrassed government officials EVEN IF THE STORIES WERE TRUE resulting in the illegal jailing of Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor is now better than the President Jonathan who has signed the FOI bill into law to enable all citizens to have unhindered access to information on Government activities. What an irony!
"It is only in Nigeria that the man who was overthrown in 1985 by Babangida and spontaneous jubilations erupted all over the country would have the guts to seek to replace people who are far better than he.
**"It is only in Nigeria that the man who later accepted appointment as PTF Chairman under the MOST CORRUPT government ever in Nigeria's history and then commandeered more than 200 PTF vehicles for private use in his home in Kaduna would not be in jail today.
Remember, he later said that Abacha did not loot anything from Nigeria! This is the man who, in his supporters' opinion, will have zero tolerance for corruption!
**"It is only in Nigeria that the man who, as PTF Chairman, embezzled billions of Naira through over-invoicing of supplies and the supply of fake and expired drugs to hospitals is now a disciplined man. Why did Ahmed Salihijo, whose consortium was in charge of all the PTF contracts under Buhari, commit suicide when former President Obasanjo commenced the probe of PTF in 1999?
**"It is only in Nigeria that the man who lost election and incited his supporters to violence which claimed the lives of innocent people including NYSC members and had the nerve to still open his bigoted mouth and criticise actions designed to stop continued madness is now a disciplined man. God!
**"It is only in Nigeria that a former Head of State would ask Muslims not to vote for Christians and, when he is criticised, would later lie on Radio Nigeria, Kaduna, that what he meant was that Muslims should vote for only those who can protect their religion.
"It is only in Nigeria that a former Head of State would refuse to condemn Boko Haram murderers in their evil activities including bombing innocent Christian worshippers in churches but is quick to support amnesty for the same murderers.
**"It is only in Nigeria that a former Head of State will speak bitterly against a State of Emergency designed to root out monstrous criminals but turns around to advocate finishing off Ombatse cult members who have done exactly the same thing as Boko Haram.
**"It is only in Nigeria that a former Head of State CANNOT speak or write simple and correct English and prefers to speak vernacular most of the time and then his supporters would insist that his meaning was lost in translation. Have you guys ever understood Buhari when he speaks?
"When this mad bigot overthrew Shehu Shagari in January 1984, he, out of crude tribalism, placed President Shagari (who, according to late Olusola Saraki, presided over most of the shady NPN deals under his watch) under mere house arrest but clamped Vice President Ekwueme (who the tribunals later said was squeaky clean) into Kirikiri like a common criminal.
"Not done with this naked tribalism, Muhammadu Buhari sent soldiers to ransack Obafemi Awolowo's residence in Ikenne and harass his household even though Awolowo was not a member of the government that was toppled.
"And for your information, the only reason why Muhammadu Buhari toppled Shagari's government in 1984 was that the then Federal Executive Council under Shagari had just traced the missing N2.8billion to Buhari's foreign account and had just set up a panel to probe and recover the loot. "Believe me, any objective, dispassionate analysis of Buhari's activities must surely come to one conclusion and one conclusion only, namely:
The only set of people whose IQ is lower than that of Muhammadu Buhari are his supporters. - Hope For Nigeria. |

Tinubu, we know your strategy, you are trying hard by hook or crook to be the running mate to Buhari. You are only using this propaganda to clear the way so that people would support you when you run alongside Buhari for the President/VP positions.
Was it GEJ that asked Boko Haram to be killing Christians and bombing Churces ab initio? Was it GEJ that is killing Christians in the name of Islamic State, ISIS?
The truth is that we Nigerians are now more educated and politically active than the times of Abiola/Kingibe. Moreover, at that time, we were also tired of the Northerners dominance in the Nigerian political scene and voted Abiola for the sole reason that he was not a Northerner, not minding his religion moreso, because his only opponent in that election, is a Northerner and aslo a Muslim. So the only choices available at the time were 2 muslims, one from the South and the other from the North. We chose the one from the South because we were sick and tired of the Northerners, yet the powers that be at the time (the Northerners) annulled the election for the single fact that the President-elect, Abiola, though a Muslim was not a Northerner. Did Tinubu not notice the kind of division that was? |
