aamey15: Hello everyone, so i proceeded to apply for a B2 visa, i havent gotten a date yet but i have applied on the Website. My issue now is people are saying that since i have a valid B1B2 visa, even if i apply for a B2 visa i will still be issued a B1B2 visa. That applying for a new visa when i still have a valid one makes no sense and waste of money. My current visa expires in December 2019.
I am just confused at this point sef.
Biko guys come to my aid oo, since i have a valid visa i dont need to apply for a new one. that its only when it expires and i want to go give birth that is when i will apply specifically for B2 visa.
Friends in the house help crack this ooo.... Why are you confused? You were the one that told us what transpired and what you were told. The visa you hold now does not allow you to birth in the sense that it wasn't issued for that purpose. Yes, your visa carries B1/2, however, you didn't state birth as the purpose of the visit which you must indicate with a B2 in your Ds-160 application. And the V,O was kind enough to advise you. A colleague of mine was sent back in 2015-she went for birthing. We both applied for B1 to attend a conference and got the visa which we attended in 2014. Though the visa has b1/2 but her purpose in her application wasn't birthing. So follow the admonition given to you by the VO that issued the current visa as per your transcripts. Good luck! |

Nersh: I will suggest you call the embassy and ask these questions. State your history and why you are looking to apply for a b2 visa ( to be upfront about your intentions). Only they can guide you authoritatively.
Anything told to you here will be heresay/ guess work which will not be 100% reliable. Goodluck.
Just to say, a b2 visa is pretty specific to the intention of the non immigrant while a b1/b2 is more general. With a b2 visa, going through immigration and travel in general will be easier cos it’s clear what your intention is. I just got into Chicago yesterday on a b2 visa and immigration was a breeze. Was out in 2 mins. Your submission on B2 vs B1/2 is tenuous as per immigration/ intention non immigrant and poe claims. When you apply for either B1 or B2, the visa will carry both B1/2. The CB officer will stamp you in with the specific class of your visa if he is convinced of your purpose. We have seen people sent back with B2 and B1. So B2 doesn't have any advantage with intention. However, the CB officer has access to your info and can see what you applied for, so whether B1 or B2, you still have to explain your purpose. I didn't spend 1 minute in JFK poe last month with B1. |

Youngjenny: thanks for your reply, im applying from abuja and it only shows b1/b2 it doesn't give the option to select b2 alone. It should. you will see it in your DS160 form, thats the most important because the B2 is medical. |

Youngjenny: for birthing purposes, i thought we could apply for the b1/b2 visa is it different from birthign visa? because someone mentioned that if you use it for birth, you wont be allowed to renew? someone please help clarify as i want to apply for myself and mum and also i can see from the thread that certain hospitals are red flags for VOs (such as doctoresparati and thats what i intended to use) please has anyone used them this 2019 to apply for visa and got it successfully? any suggestion would be much appreciated. You apply for B2 nd be sincere with your intention. Nobody has mentioned doctoresparati as redflag and yes we have seen people here who are using them/ or used them in the past and renewed successfully e.g @Leez29 |

Babyvet: You were comparing Brazil to America , not Nigeria . Nigerians need to be more careful where they travel too. Nigerians to need to stop with anything “abroad “ is better. That’s how some of them ended up as slaves in the Middle East. And some of them are there as kings. Remember some are also in the US as slaves. |

We can't get better by denying the obvious. I am more interested in the statistics. We have honest and forthright Nigerians just as we have dishonest ones. But to say MOST Nigerians!! Mba!! |

Putting my citizens down is another name for honesty.
Just incase you care to read i did not generalise ..i said most
By the way thanks for making me laugh with your cleaner example Let me add to your laughter: I was in the UK last summer. I took a taxi from airport to my hotel closer to the airport and the white dude charged me 15 pounds. I gave him 50 Pounds. As I was struggling with my bags, he handed over 15 pounds of small denominations and I never bothered to check as I felt he was a 'honest' man. While he was manovering his vehicle to turn, I just had the hunch to check. Lo! 20pounds was missing. Na so I raced catch him o. He said: I thought you gave me a tip. . You can see a very honest man. Dishonesty is a tendency in human. |

justwise: I don't expect many to agree with me on this because its a touchy topic.
I'm not talking about your budget for transport, accommodation etc..i'm talking about actual delivery cost, the VO will not approve your visa if you told her that you will be paying little to nothing with discount, your visa was approved because you presented a budget fitting enough for child birth.
Your last paragraph is quite frankly insulting and playing race card on this is shameful.
Lets call a spade most Nigerians are dishonest, fraudulent and crafty we get so angry when called out.
This is not about white superiority, this is about what many Nigerians are known for, we struggle to get a visa to many embassies including South African which is an African country @ Justwise, do you have stats to back this? |

Mgbocha: Why are you so bitter? You are even more angry than the VOs. I don't know how you got to the US or legalized but you are beginning to talk too much. You don't have to prove to anyone that you know the system or you are the only one who is enlightened or privileged to be living in US and have however become a green card holder or citizen.
America wasn't built on any tribe, culture or religion. It isn't owned by anyone or in all fairness it's owned by the native Americans who are now ofcourse treated like outcast and segregated.
America was built on immigration and migration. Donald trump's lineage also migrated to the US so is his wife. Everybody in US today have a history of immigration be it by birth or refugee seeking asylums or slavery or whatever.
The bigotry and immigration system now being introduced by trump is the reason for the increased gun violence, increased crime rate and death toll.
It's going to take alot of death and division to stop that which America was built on and I bet you don't want to be living in US by then to witness such ugliness.
I have been working for an American company for 8 yrs now, straight from college. I was privileged to work in US for 2 years. I had insurance, SSN, paid my taxes, never voileted may rules neither did I ever get arrested or get a ticket. I came back home after my assignment and I am still with this company. I had opportunities to stay back and become and illegal alien and do the things you all do to get a green card but unfortunately I love Nigeria. I had a good job and loved my stay in Nigeria over the US and so are alot of Nigerians.
I gave birth in 2016 in US not because I am hungry to but because I had high risk pregnancy and I was advised to seek medical care abroad. I made contact with doctor and hospital at 33 weeks, flew at 34 weeks and delivered baby at 37 weeks. I paid all my bills and got the discounted rates, I am yet to renew my visa.
My son is currently schooling in Nigeria and will continue schooling here. If i have any plans of sending him abroad I did choose UK over US. I do not wish to witness the school shootings happening over there. So my dear, people have different reasons for going to give birth in US.
Let me even assume people are looking for better life for their kids, there is no crime to such. People will forever continue to migrate all over the world and US being a world leader will get that example for other countries to follow.
There is no justification for crusifying anyone for the bill they paid as they didn't force the doctors or hospitals to give them the rate they did. The hospitalsand doctors issued a zero balance receipt and for that reason they had the funds to care for their medical bills.
Remember people like you with this mindset and Donald trump will only continue to preach hate and bigotry for as long as you want however your % is too small to change what America is built on which is freedom and immigration.
The US healthcare system is broken that's why it's a huge fight in the Senate and House and it's a key point in the next election. Nigerians should not be blamed for a broken healthcare system.
Now I see why people are being denied visa, the VOs are even cool...reading your comment is so appalling. So much hate coming from a Nigerian who migrated. Too bad. God help you. Thanks sis. The dude is not even in the US. He is operating under different Monikers. |

POE Transcripts
Flew using Qatar Airlines. It was a long journey (14hrs). Arrived 12th March morning. POE is JFK ( I used JFK in 2014 too). One Chinese-looking American.
Me: Good Morning
CBP: Morning, Can I have your passport?
Me: Sure! Gave him and he scanned it.
CBP: Where are you coming from?
Me: I told him
CBP: Why are you in the US?
ME: for a convention
CBP: how long are you staying?
ME: 4 days
CBP: Look at the camera. That's all. He stamped me in and indicated B1 on the stamp. He gave me my passport.
Me: Thank you.
As I was walking to the exit, since I have no bag to claim, a lady (CBP) called me and asked me few questions.
Lady: how are you? Me: Good and you? Lady: Fine , thank you. Can I have your passport? Me: Sure! Gave her. Lady: What do you do and where are you coming from? Me: I told her. Lady: How long re you staying? Me: 4 days. Lady: Are you connecting flight? Me: Yes, JetBlue Lady: Thats terminal 5. She gave me the descriptions to the terminal and handed my passport to me.
Back to my base and good luck and safe flight to others. |

7Alexandre: During most of y’all interview, most people took bank statements totaling over $30,000 to the United States Embassy as evidence that they would be able to afford to give birth to the United States...
So what happened to the huge sums of money you guys showed to the Visa Officers?
Always looking for an easy way every time...
And when a loophole is closed then you guys begin to panic...
There are quality Medical Doctors all over Lagos including Victoria Island Axis as well as the Ikoyi Axis...
Most Nigerian Women can give birth there if they can’t afford to fund the cost of child birth abroad... What is your problem with that? Because you were born in Nigeria ba? Abeg park well. Didn't the V.O see the budget sheets.? You are talking as if you are in the US. |

7Alexandre: You said earlier that she didn’t spend up to $7K...
When you add everything up is actually $9,643 which is approximately $10,000 which happens to be a reasonable sum to spend when giving birth compared to $3000+ others where paying...
Trust me if everybody was paying almost $10,000 then the Visa Officers wouldn’t have a problem...
Heck if I was a Visa Officer I would personally extra scrutinize any applicant paying only about $3,000 just to give birth...
That amount is really low for child birthing purposes even for Americans...
We don’t get it that cheap except when insurance companies are paying a bulk of the bill...
So why should Nigerians get it that cheap...
I’m all for giving birth in the United States but abuse of the system in place must equally be checked... Can you expatiate on the bold? Did our women fix the prices or the health provider? How is that an abuse? Other women from other countries are paying the same; so what the heck! Fortunately you are not a visa officer. |

Lordcrixus: Then came the white paper According to my wife, a lot of pink papers were flying around before her turn. Some because they couldn’t defend their past travels very well, especially the 221G folks. Expenses breakdown are as follows: Hospital: $5,630 ( baby stayed extra two days because of mild jaundice, it was meant to be 4078$ for self pay) Doctor: $1,400 Pediatrician: $150 for one hospital visit at birth and then one visit to the clinic. Anesthesiologists: $1,500 ( no receipt for this) Lab 1: $186 (at ob/gyn) Lab2 : $115 ( done after birth) Lab3 : $420 ( done after birth) Lab 4: $242 ( done after birth) For all with 221G do not despair, go and defend yourself and pray for a favourable VO especially if you have not flouted any of their rules and overstayed your visa. No other documents were requested not even the itemized bill with ridiculous discount. The contract the hospital gave at first stated 50% discount while itemized bill stated like 80% discount. According to my wife, VO went over the contract like four times reading and reading and was confused at a point but she didn’t request for hospital itemized bill, only drs itemized bill she sighted. Good luck to others awaiting their 221G interview. Thanks for this jare. At least she didn't spend $30k, |

Nigerians are not the only people in desperation seeking to give birth in the US....the Chinese, Indians, Russians are all seeking in high numbers trying to give birth in the US and are required to pay more for it.
I know cases of people from China, India who are facing the same ordeal with renewing their US visa after they have been caught getting discounts medical charges for child birth in the US.
I understand that this forum is mainly geared for Nigerians and so most of the feedbacks and complaints about the US visas extra scrutiny will be mostly from Nigerians. This assertion looks spurious. Tell us more about the cases. |

MamaOO: Respectfully, you don’t get to decide who this topic is for and not for. This is the World Wide Web and a free forum, hence anybody is free to talk, including myself.
The topic under debate is whether some hospitals pass on payment for these childbirth to Medicaid or not because of some ridiculously low bills that we’ve been seeing and causing innocent people to get denied initial or subsequent visas which is absolutely no fault of theirs.
Yes, not all insurances pay whatever rate my insurance negotiated with my healthcare providers but I’ve said it several times here, I work for a medical insurance company who are contracted under Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid) and I have seen claims for OB services and childbirt, I know what Medicaid pays and it’s not as low as what I’ve seen here.
I would understand your stance tho, you also provide childbirth/medical services and would defend your charges. Since you work in California, don't you think what you have seen is only peculiar to your company? We've seen people got approve for "some ridiculous low bills" |
