Ade Akinbiyi of Leicester City, if u remember him, was in the spot light then.
We heard so much of him and had an opportunity of watching him in a Cup game.
Leicester lost. Akinbiyi had no impact in the match. My friend now said ' him men no pass ball give am'. Lol! Just almost d way u said it. But the few times he was given the ball he looked dangerous. |

But contrary to what pple think he performed more than i expected at Rio.
Jst 19, he has a lot to learn. He will for now just lump him into the basket of our teem strikers/forwards. Other players in that basket: Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Orji Okonkwo, Henry Onyekuru, Steven Odey among others. Henry Onyekuru is not there mate, na. Orji Okonkwo has not played for the first team yet. I think Taiwo and Awoniyi are in the same class while Victor Osimhen needs to prove himself. |

Awaziem is still pretty young and playing for Porto B. Agbo is more of a DM.. We don't need wait until he becomes a Super star before we start chasing after him. Looking at the way he controlled the ball and hit his target and looking at his age, this boy could go places. We need to approach him and those two German boys. |

TheSuperNerd: Rohr On Alert As German- Nigerian Left Back Target Torunarigha Shines For Hertha Berlin
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/image.jpg
The search by the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for options at left full back might be coming to an end following the giant leap made by German-Nigerian left back Jordan Torunarigha.
Presently Rohr has been unsuccessful in his search for a credible back up for first choice and second vice captain Elderson Echiejile, as Kingsley Madu has failed to provide the kind of challenge the manager wants for the Sporting Gijon man.
Torunarigha has been on the manager’s watch list for a while, and last night the German-Nigerian full back made his first team bow by playing for 27 minutes in their 1-3 loss to Hoffeinheim in the Bundesliga.
He was introduced for Vedad Ibisevic and despite coming on with his team under pressure, the 19 year old who is proud of his Nigerian heritage, as he has the country’s flag on the header of his instagram account gave a good impression of himself.
Although he has represented England at youth level he qualifies to play for Nigeria through his dad Ojokojo Torunarigha who played for Nigeria League side Shooting Stars years ago.

TheSuperNerd: Exclusive – Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Included By Conte In His Pre Season Plans
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/image-108.jpg
On loan Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo has been offered a spot in Chelsea’s pre season squad, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Omeruo left Chelsea for another loan spell in Turkey with Alanyaspor, but signed an extension before leaving for what was his fourth consecutive loan spell away from the club.
He was coerced into signing the extension by coach Antonio Conte, who promised him a spot in his team when pre season training commences before the start of next season.
Omeruo has played his own part in the bargain by cementing a spot in the Alanyaspor side, and will now be given the chance to fight for a first team spot by Conte.
The Nigerian was on the verge of breaking into the first team of Chelsea in 2014 but an unfortunate shoulder injury which ruled him out for three months denied him the chance to impress then manager Jose Mourinho.
However with club captain John Terry set to depart the Blues this summer, Omeruo and Kurt Zouma will be given the chance to push as his replacement before Chelsea start any transfer business in central defence.

TheSuperNerd: Celtic Target Onyekuru Fires Brace To Take Season Tally To 15 In Front Of Scouts From West Ham
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/image-2.jpg
Highly rated Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru continued his rich vein of form for Belgium side Eupen with a brace in their 2-2 draw against Roeselare.
Second division side Roeselare found the Nigerian forward a hard nut to crack in the Belgium League qualification play off, pulling his side from two goals down to draw 2-2.
Two quick goals from Roselare who are battling to qualify for the top league in Belgium via the play off put them in the driving seat, before Onyekuru struck to break their heart.
Onyekuru drew his side level with two well taken place goals in the 53rd and 76th minute to take his season tally to 15 in all competitions, aside picking up 7 assists in what is his debut season in the Belgium top flight.
In January, the 19 year old went on strike to force a move to Scottish side Celtic, but reports from sources in Belgium has it that scouts from English Premier League side West Ham were at the Kehrwegstadion to run the rule on the hot in demand forward.

Etebo's versatility means he can be deployed in any forward position.
I dnt really like him being played in the CM. He should b deployed to the wings , SS or AM
Onazi can play CM and Mikel AM.
However, if Rohr has to chose between playing Onazi or Etebo in the CM position. Etebo has it for me. Ndidi and Etebor are new in the Super Eagles and they have started displacing some players from the team. Same thing could happen if the new the new ones shines better than the ones in the team. |

Icon4s: U did not even mention Brown Ideye and Troost-Ekong. They have more than 10 caps. Leon Balogun should also be nearing no caps now. Now does ur argument of MOST players not having up to 10 caps still valid?
Going by all these names you are mentioning u'll continue to have headaches over Rohr's team selection. Bc u will still be disappointed again when you see his next squad for the SA game and MOST of those names u have been singing will be omitted.
Rohr knows his TEAM already but will continue to try out a couple of other players to see those that will add value to the team. Not to just flood the camp with so many untested players.
I can tell you that Rohr already knows atleast 9 of the 11 players he would want to start the game against SA in june. If we add those two, it becomes 11. Which is great 11 or 12? If 12, then I repeat most of these players don't have up to 10 caps. Out of the 11, I go still commot 1 or 2 players from the team. So far, Rohr is trying. I am not saying Rohr should flood the team with untested players. I am saying bring them in to flush out the weaklings. |

Icon4s: U see?
That is where the problem is. And that where the problem has been in the last ten years. Lack of consistency and pulling down the team at random?
Now u say we dnt have a team and most players dnt have up to 10 caps. Do u know how long it takes for players to get 10caps for the national team. How many games does a national team play in a year adding to the fact that we have missed out in last two AFCONS.
Now back to ur 10caps indices. It will interest u to know that from the crop of players who play regularly or come in as subs only Iwobi, Iheanacho and Ndidi have less than 10caps with 9, 8 and 7 respectively. Look at our defense and midfield and tell me which other player has not had up to 10 caps. What of Musa, Victor Moses, Ighalo and Ideye? Even young chaps like Shehu, Simon and Etebo have had had more than 10 caps.
My good Friends WE HAVE A TEAM AND A GOOD STRUCTURE ON GROUND ABEG. This is not pulling down, this is building. You remove the ones not fitted for the best. Only Musa, Ighalo(e still dey team?) , Onazi, Mikel, Victor, Echiejile, Simon, Omeruo and Shehu Abdullahi (I am not convinced he is Super Eagles material) has up to 10 caps. The rest na below,na. We need to bring in more players to fight for the shirt. Mikel Agu, Sanisi and Esiti contending with Wilfred Noah, Aluko and Ehizibue contending with Ahmed Odubajo, Ebuehi and Nura contending with Musa and Omeruo Aina and Torunarigha contesting with Echiejile Noah, Sone sluggish it out with Iheanacho etcetera etcetera... |

For under 20, we should just look for the best. You are right on point. I think that is the best option but not at the detriment of players doing well abroad. |

Even the Alex Iwobi that has been proven and tested we dey fear about his ability to cope with the physicality against Cameroun.
Are u telling me u dnt know abt the physical demands associated with playing typical African oppositions?
Lol. Rohr knows what he is doing. He has worked in Africa long enough.
You dnt know the implication of maintaining the same back line we used against Algeria?
He is beginning to have faith in that back line and building consistency and may just b looking for back ups. Omeruo is Nigeria's new RB. Troost and Balogun are our confirmed CB duo while Echiejile has snatched back that LB position.
Allowing those English born players train with the team is good. Firstly for sense of belonging and also a couple of them may turn out to be great additions to the squad. Alex Iwobi problem started with Arsenal. He is not currently playing well and I understood he is not taking his career too seriously. The match against the Senegal wasn't that physical. We knocked the ball around some few times. Leon and Troost are confirmed CB duo because we don't have players to contend with them. Once, Felix Uduokhai and Torunarigha agrees to play for us they will have good players to contend with. Omeruo wasn't in the team A that played with the team B in the practice match. komekn: To avoid that situation it's more practical to run a camp here get your best 18 and then let them play the home based team in Nigeria. That would enable them to become more orientated with Nigerian norms and values and create a reconnect for those disconnected from thier Fatherland.
That would be interesting also no need for MRI for those coming from countries with automatic birth date data capture.
From both teams select the best, playing against them against each other creates healthy competitive rivalry. Although to some it may seem controversial. This is a very very good idea but, who will finance their trip to Nigeria? Are the coaching crew going to look thier way since no..? |

I am am open minded person but not the type that would want to pull down what I already have on ground in a bid to get what I am not sure of. How can you pull down what is not on ground? We don't have a team on ground yet because most of these players don't have up to 10 caps. We are still building hence the need to bring in players to slug it out with the ones in the team.
