ghabrhiel10: Please is it advisable to use an E-statement generated through Mobile App, instead of going through the Nigerian bank stress I know of an applicant who used an E-statement for his application simply because the sponsor resides overseas and his application was approved. Certainly, you can do same as it's also acceptable by IRCC. However, I would prefer you go through the online application route. |

sillysassysally: Hi Frankrobbn1
So i was essentially asking what would be the best spread to have between one's cost of study and one's available funds. For instance, if my total cost of study is $20k, should my available funds be $25k or $30k or $40k? What margin of difference should i leave between the two?
P.S. Thanks for seeing my DM Now I understand better. The margin difference can be between 2KCAD-5KCAD. |

Nuel182: could that mistake be a reason for rejection. Them saying "we are not sure you can pay your school fee without working in Canada"? Yes it can be a reason for a refusal only when the presented bank statement with your application can't cater for the stated funds in the application form. Have you submitted already? If yes, believe things will work out for your good because there is never a perfect application. |

DMerciful: Are they checking for substantial travel history? Purpose of visit? Post degree studying should be enough purpose right? The Canadian visa officer is particularly checking for travel history outside of your home country in developed countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Schengen/Europe. If the applicant has shown short travels for tourism to those areas, that is one factor that adds a plus in the visa officer assessment that the applicant will likely depart Canada after authorized stay. It's also important to note that travel history is a generic reason for a visa refusal. It’s very possible to be granted a TRV without a travel history. However, the applicant must demonstrate adequate ties through other factors like ownership of properties/cash in fixed deposit, spouse, kids etc.. that can compel their return back home. Travelling to Canada for a post degree isn't enough reason to ascertain your purpose of visit to Canada. Purpose of Visit can be from the correlation between your intended program with your previous studies and job role. Periodically, poorly written and vague SOP can also constitute to the reason for a visa refusal as it also falls under this category. |

Yes I have seen over five (5) applicants in and outside of this window from last year ending until now that were instructed to undertake a medical exam and was refused after been updated as passed. PS: I would best suggest you keep all hope alive as cases differs. |

sillysassysally: Hi Frank,
Please what do you recommend to be the most ideal margin between funds available for stay and cost of stay? I don't quite catch that. Funds available for your stay is the total sum of your tuition + room and board + other (miscellaneous expenses). Cost of living is meant to be 10,000CAD and 11,000CAD for applicants heading to Quebec as stated on IRCC offical website. I hope this answers your question? I saw your PM, I will respond soon. |

Mykaelolalekan: Hello nairalander, I submitted my online application on the 10th of March 2019 with upfront medical, I received a mail for biometric request on the 11th of March 2019, I did my biometric today the 12th of March 2019 and shortly after the biometric, I received my tracking number to check my application status. I have checked through the tracking number but was told I have no record. My question is : what happened to my cic account where I usually receive a prompt and update? Where will I be checking for new information? The cic account or the tracking status code I received today. Can the 2 account be linked together? Help is needed please. You don't need the local tracking number. To keep track with the progress of your application you are required to login to your online MyCIC account. |

Questionner: Yes boss i did...nothing yet oh. I was getting too paranoid that was why i decided to msg you. Its almost a month after medicals Have you received a biometrics validity letter? Once you receive this letter via your MyCIC account after medicals has been completed, you should expect an approval within 2-48hrs. Although, it's never certain as some applicants get refusal after passing their medical exam and receiving the above letter. |

Awuuga: A friend applied last month with upfront medicals. She uploaded her slip but was surprised to get a medical invite this week. She has contacted IOM, but they insisted they have sent in her documents. Issue is, it’s not reflecting in her account. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to tackle this? This is actually not a problem. It happens occasionally. Send the E-MEDICAL SLIP the second time to Kenya (Nairobi) Immigration department via this email: nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca The subject of the mail should bear URGENT, along side her FULL NAME, UCI NUMBER, APPLICATION NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH. Also take advantage of THE NAIROBI WEBFORMYou should state in the mail that the applicant has already completed her medicals and attached is her E-medical slip. You would request that her medical result be appended with her application and updated on her MyCIC account within the shortest possible timeframe. Lastly, thank them for the success so far in the applicants application. |

I guess I will have to just go for masters instead of starting all over again. I really appreciate y'all!!! I am glad you heed to my advice. You can start now by working hard towards graduating with a good CGPA so you can be able to secure a Master's admission for yourself when the time comes. I wish you the very best in your academics. |

nija4us: Hello brothers and sisters, Please if a Nigerian student has a USA visa and decides to travel to USA to apply via paper route from USA because of the shorter processing time, will it be accepted as legal? Or you will be asked to back cos you're just a visitor and not a usa resident. If you don't have a legal status in the US (Valid work permit, permanent resident, citizenship or study visa). You're expected to return back to your home country and apply for your Canadian study permit. Failure to do so, your application will be accessed based on your Immigration status in country of residence and your ties to US instead of your home country, which will be considered weak. |

Naijaforeigner: lol, I dey tell you. I posted something about having issues with my study permit on this forum in January, you wont believe about 3 people already in Canada on this forum contacted me via mail to tell me they have similar issues, asking me how did I sort it out and I am like why did you not say it here so that others coming to Canada can learn and avoid it?
If there is any information that can help people before you leave Nigeria and when you get to Canada, drop it here as you cannot tell who you would be helping with such information. Jobs, accommodation, studies, just drop it here.
Everyone is busy, Education in Canada is demanding, i hardly respond to mails because i have a lot to do but we can always drop helpful information openly once in a while and move on. I must commend you for the wonderful job you've been doing on this platform. You're one of the few persons currently studying in Canada that creates out time even in your busy schedule to respond to queries pasted here and assist new bies in achieving theirs. Keep it up bro! |

itisco: Hello there, please I'm quite new on here and would like to make enquiry as regards starting off my undergraduate studies in Canada. I plan on sponsoring myself financially. I need to know what are the things to do and things not to do. All the processes involved... I mean how do I go about studying in Canada? I'm presently 19yrs and a 400lv law student in OAU but really want to start all over again. Please I need someone to put me through. Thanks. You're almost done (400level), why quit your studies now? My advice is that you finish up your degree in Nigeria and further your master's abroad. You might end up regretting this should you dump your studies here in Nigeria for a Canadian education. Reasons being that the Canadian study visa is a gamble, time consuming and there is never a guarantee that you will get it once you apply. |

But tend to remember this thread when they have a question to ask.. Its just so annoying.. I just pray I dont come in contact with such persons here, it wont be funny.. Hope u good Guru Frank? Makano the action man! I am totally perplex to why the applicant couldn't revert back to the thread with an update from the consulate. If we all should follow this method, I don't think this platform would be in the position it is at this time. Well, one of the most valuable and widely approved as such realisations in life is that at the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their actions. Hence, I wouldn't force it. I am doing great brother. I hope you're fine and making progress too? Stay safe bro. |

esefrancis: God bless everyone taking their time out to make this forum a success. Your joy will never seize . Please I have a question to ask. I was Denied on my first application. To reasons of 1. travel history 2.purpose of visit 3.personal assets Though I regret using an agent who resides in Canada She didn’t give me any information only requested for a few documents and We had to pay her 1.9million for the processing . I finished high school in 2015. Do I need to fill the forms exactly the same way I filled it in my previous applications? In my previous application I also stated that I had an apprenticeship training after high school, if I ommut that now will it be a red flag? I await your reponse. Thanks Its quiet unfortunate to hear your study visa was refused. As per your question, the Immigration Department will cross-check all of the information submitted, as well as bring up previous visa applications and government records to check for consistency. Therefore, it's important you keep your old forms and applications so that you can be consistent by referring back to your previous documents there by ensuring all details on the applications remain consistent. Being as detailed and accurate as possible and cross-checking for consistency, will make your application process much smoother. With that said, prior to your reapplication, I would suggest you request for your previous application forms from your agent in Canada. |

kenmak: Good day house, Though a bit new but I have tried reading many posts here. Here is my concern:
I just got admission to study Diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology at College of the North Atlantic, Newfoundland. I have B.Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 2008 and 10 years experience practicing Electrical Engineering in industries.
I have read that it is illogical to the VO for a degree holder to opt for a diploma course. And this exactly is what's giving me concern as whether to pay the first semester tuition fee as requested on the acceptance letter or to ignore the admission.
Guru in the house, kindly advise! Gently ignore the admission and apply for a master's program or post graduate diploma course. |

DMerciful: Thanks But why will they ask you to spend more money for medicals if they have not fully checked your application? It's a new trend from the Kenya (Nairobi) visa officers. Those guys can sometimes be unpredictable and inhumane. One can't tell why they will reject an application after been called for medicals. They started this as at the end of last year and is still in effect. Be hopeful that you will get your TRV. |
