Exactly. His mind, like that of many Nigerians, is messed up. A person who raped one's family to a point of death is asked to return simply because he fed them well as he raped them. We have a long way to go. We need somebody who will transform our educational system. A minister of education with a brain and not these dull old men creating more problems.
Lack of proper education, especially lack of history in schools is a problem in this country.

Long over due. Some of the non performing ministers are suppose to be asked to return the salary they have received so far because they are just 'ghost ' workers. The selection and composition of the Ministers was the beginning of the many flaws that later characterised PMB's administration.
As far as l'm concerned there are a few hardworking ministers such as Goffery Onyeamah(foreign minister), also Okechuckwu Emenalah(minister of trade). The ones who are active (but not that excellent so far) are Kemi Adeosun, Rotimi Amaechi, Babatunde Fashola(a lawyer made minister of power). Add yours.

Yeah l'll prefer to have the NYSC scheme similar to N-power, to make Entrepreneurs of graduates, so that N-power itself be left to those with just waec certificate or those who couldn't go to school at any level. Graduates should rather benefit from NYSC.

Truth be told, here is why I hear Nigerian songs. . . .they give me fun cuz of the amazing beats they have

For example, the beat on 'SOWETO BABY' is so cool. But the lyrics is a problem. Nigerian Artists need to think of a good lyric for real.

For example Davido's 'Aye' song lyric + beat is something I will always rememmber. That is how it has to be done

Check out all Naija songs. . .almost all says 'big a**' to admire or love women. They have got to express a descent way of love for women like Davido in 'Aye' song
But how do you understand the pidgin in our songs, like Davido's Aye for instance laced with pidgin.
You can check out Kiss Daniel- Mama. you may like it.

But that is actually the intention, i.e. ignite some form of violence against Igbos which will serve two main purposes: (1) Force Igbos in the north back home and (2) Create a basis to attract foreign sympathy to begin the secession process.

2 main reasons ipob has gotten its global popularity today is because of the incarceration of kanu and due to the protesters that were shot specifically at the Aba school. I suppose they want more of such events to occur to gain more momentum.
It could backfire you know.

PoliticsRe: What Measures Are The Northern Elite Taking To Tackle The High Level Of Illitera by freshest4live: 11:11pm On Jul 30, 2017
Curlieweed:
This thing no concern me but I think it's rather facile to blame only the elite for a phenomenon with clearly complex cultural and historical antecedents.

The Northern governments have actually invested (proportionately) more in education than their counterparts down here. They have made more efforts to make education more affordable using tools like bursaries and scholarship. The question is why have the masses largely refused to take advantage of these opportunities? Anecdotal evidence suggests that individuals from outside the region take advantage of the opportunities disproportionately to the situation with Northerners in the South. That is the question you will need to answer in order to attempt solving the problem.

I haven't given this issue a lot of thought ( because it's none of my business) but there was a time when people from my part of the world were also similarly disadvantaged regarding educational accomplishments. They understood rather quickly that education was the key to advancement in what was essentially a new paradigm. They then made huge communal and individual sacrifices to close the gap.

My poser are;
a) Why doesn't the Northern masses recognize the benefits of education?
b) If they recognize the benefits therein, what is preventing them from taking advange of existing opportunities and even making communal and individual efforts to expand same.
c) Does residual feudalism have a role to play here?
d)What is the role of religious leaders in all these and related who is paying these religious clowns.

You can force a horse to the stream but you can't force it to drink. Don't just blame (horse) groom.
The type of lslam practiced is the problem, also the Elites use it to their advantage.
But like l argued earlier on, we need a paradigm shift in this country on how we view education.

What are you fighting for, if you are protesting against the elites and corruption, then it's a welcome development, but you are fighting for secession and the balkanization of Naija, something our enemies eagerly pray for.

Not exactly d truth.
The more educated they are,d more they realise d futility of the subsistence farming they mostly engage in and embrace modern methods of farming which guarantee less input with better yield.
For example, how do U explain artificial insemination, drip irrigation, pollination etc to a stark illiterate?
At a time,if d turenchi becomes too much,he will politely excuse himself to go and do d type his forefathers did.
Most of d big commercial farms along Abuja-Keffi road are owned by highly educated ppl including some doctors I know and d difference in efficiency, productivity etc is clear.
Yeah, what l mean is you just teach those interested in agriculture, modern techniques of agriculture.
Even in the Western World, not everyone gets past what we call primary school, but they have vocational institute to pursue their passions or learn modern agriculture as the case may be, and they ain't voilent. So education(all the way) is not the major key. If you travel to Germany for instance, you'll see this is the case.

How can you deny them western education out of selfish interest? Can you for a moment swap position with that illiterate farmer in Zamfara who is under a political sharia and his opinions is shaped by what the government feeds him
My point is that we allow them see education differently from the norm so they don't breed lazy youths, who can still be voilent due to unemployment and over reliance on Government later on.

I know what he's talking about, but unfortunately l didn't put my previous statement across properly. Definitely we don't need millions for agriculture but as Nigerians we wrongly believe the only way is the monotonous form of education.
You can always make your point without the condescension or unnecessary air of superiority.

Blue3k:
You know you don't need millions of farmers to feed population right? If you have modern mechanized farming like you suggested you can dramatically cut work force. Check other industrialized nations you'll notice only 5% of nation is engaged in farming.

Your odd desire to keep people uneducated is regressive. If they get education the can create other opportunities in their domain. There's other sectors besides agricultural and food processing that can and should be pursued.
OK l agree, but maybe l didn't put it well.
My point is that after secondary school, they focus on technical skills in agriculture and wherever the interest lies, l don't see university as the optimal form of education, it makes them seek for employment and White Collar jobs after graduation. I do not wish that they remain ignorant just for selfish gains but that they do not become useless after graduation like we find in most parts of the south, when they should have spent the time on their passions, those who desire the University can go on with it.

The ten million uprising from the North will make Abuja unsafe. Can you point out any educated leader from any of those Islamist group in the north starting from Maitasane to BH.

Dangote needs to face education in the North or else his investments are not safe in years to come
Illiteracy is not the major cause of violence, it's an idle mind or frustrated mind.
PoliticsRe: What Measures Are The Northern Elite Taking To Tackle The High Level Of Illitera by freshest4live:
EmeeNaka:
Education is good but for you to think that Education is what about 40million uneducated Northerners need to to be to be useful is wrong. It's not even education they need before they will be introduced to modern farming methods. If the illiterate Northerners are well engaged in food production with genuine assistance from govt, Nigeria will not be importing foods and they will gain a lot of money and be happy thereafter.
Masha Allah
We don't even need some of them to be educated in the western way, we just need them to learn modern techniques of farming, and our economy would be the better for it.
PoliticsRe: What Measures Are The Northern Elite Taking To Tackle The High Level Of Illitera by freshest4live: 9:10pm On Jul 30, 2017
QueenOfNepal:
What the North needs is private initiative because the government has failed them and sees denying them education is political tool to keep them loyal.

The South was oppourtned to have missionary schools which promoted western education and also private individuals like Tai Solatin took it upon themselves to banish illiteracy from the populace. The north lacks such things.

Dangote might have his major investment outside the North but how will he feel those almajiri are let off from their leash just like BH and he has nowhere to return to again
I don't think it affects Dangote either way, he is based in Lagos and Abuja. But he has some investments in the North that provides jobs to thousands and has contributed to some major projects that remotely have to do with education.
