I trust General Buratai's army to crush the ragtag militants in no time. If it means that they will be leveled completely for sanity to return, then by all means the military should not hesitate.

We are waiting to hear the cries of human rights abuses once pictures of the criminals mangled carcasses start to appear on this forum so we will remind them of their empty Chestbeating, just like the misguided poster below me.

The sad thing is that the unfortunate Niger Deltans will be the ones to suffer the environmental effects of the oil spills from the pipelines destroyed by their foolish kinsmen, while iPods that keep cheering the criminals on remain unaffected by the immediate consequences.

Mr interpreter, keep fooling yourself. The truth is that NDA is the creation of Karma. Things will be balanced by force whether Buhari likes it not! I hate violence but it is clearly the only thing that formats the brains of abookies, they don't understand peaceful grammar (ba turenci).

The north fears and respects only violent people since the days of violent Dan fodio.
You chest beaters are good entertainment any day. You should be ashamed to be in support of such a foolish and cowardly group, instead you are here glorifying violence as if when push comes to shove you can stand any of your adversaries.

Mantu should keep quiet and let us hear word. They participated in all the election largesse from '99 to '2011, and because a new crop of thieves, militants and warlord-wife-shaggers emerged and took control of the ineffectual bufoons failed Presidential campaign, thereby denying them their usual booty, he is now pontificating up and down like a drunken monk.

Nonsense.

Hammond should do his homework before coming out to spew ignorance. Where were the billions that are, and have been allocated to the ND for donkey years reflected in the report? Where is the mention of the mismanagement of the funds? Where is the mention of Nigeria's dire economic situation which made cutting the amnesty budget unavoidable?

Was the amnesty budget for funding the reckless lives of lazy militants supposed to be left intact while States had their own allocations cut leaving hard workers unpaid?

The unrepentant tax dodger should just shut it and face his expenses scandal.
Politics › Re: Nnamadi Kanu Is Not Our Leader by fulanimafia: 6:40pm On May 15, 2016
Nnamdi Kanu is not our leader says Debe Ojukwu

https://www.sunnewsonline.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Debe-Ojukwu-son-300x300.jpg

DEBE, first son of the late Biafran secessionist leader and Ikemba of Nnewi, Dim Chukuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu opens up on the Biafra struggle, the crises in the family over the estate Ojukwu left behind, Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB leadership, among many other topical issues. Excerpts.

Why did the president not react to the carnage in Enugu state the same way he has always reacted to those agitating for Biafra?

The most important thing is to first identify the people. There are various ways of committing crime, and the intelligence of these criminals varies from one person to another. You can say that the intelligence of the herdsmen and the collusion with the security agents are more sophisticated than that of the Biafra agitators. There are many Biafra agitators of which I am one. I am one, but I subscribe to the legal and diplomatic agitation; not the violent agitation.

Not the IPOB agitation?

IPOB? We own IPOB . IPOB belongs to us. We formed IPOB. IPOB is not a group. IPOB means Indigenous People of Biafra, of which every Biafran is a member. So it is wrong for one person to arrogate to himself who is IPOB, and who is not. What happened was that most of them were misinformed. If you are agitating, you don’t block the roads. You must give unimpeded access for free flow of the economy. It is when you start stalling the economy that you incur the wrath of the security agencies. The law of riots and unlawful assembly is very elastic. It gives very wide powers to peace officers. And by peace officers, we have magistrates, police officers and military officers of the rank of 2nd lieutenants, and ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) upwards. It says when you perceive that an assembly is likely to be riotous, you read the proclamation. When he has made the proclamation, he gives them 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, they can use tear gas first, and after that, if it persists, they can use arms. That is why we are suing for referendum, because we want to know those people that are interested to be Biafrans.

But some people say the pacifist approach you want to adopt will take you nowhere.

The problem there is that as far as we are concerned, Nigeria is a child of peaceful negotiation. Nigeria was under colonial masters, and you cannot tell me that it was a stroll in the park for the independence agitators to wrest freedom from Britain. They did a lot of constitutional conferences; they went to London, argued, joked, used wits to get independence. I never read in history that Zik bore arms against the British government. It was a diplomatic warfare. We had a civil war which cost us about four million people. We don’t have to be myopic. Our group has succeeded in being given observer status at the UN and AU.
But your leader has been in detention for several months?

Nnamdi Kanu is not our leader. It is a misconception.

Who is your leader?

The leader of IPOB is Chief Justice Eze Ozobu, the former chief judge of Enugu State. The next in command to him is Dr Dozie Ikedife. Then we have Col Achuzia. We have many people involved in that. It was that body that set up Radio Biafra. Radio Biafra is part and parcel of what we are doing.

But Nnamdi Kanu is a director of radio Biafra?

Yes he is, but not the head of IPOB. The thing is that media has its potency. And because of his visibility; people were talking to him and he was talking to them. That was why he became very popular. And he used that to assume leadership.

But the Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful and other officials always address him as their leader?

He is not the Publicity Secretary. All those people were just given positions to make them relevant. The main IPOB under Eze Ozobu has a media department. They were just on the verge of creating those positions. They were very careful in creating those bodies because they were wary of this kind of thing. It is exactly those fears that have finally manifested?

Is IPOB factionalized?

You can say IPOB is factionalized. MASSOB is also part of IPOB. IPOB is for everybody that subscribes to the idea of Biafra. That does not mean we don’t have that leadership role.

So what are you doing to secure Kanu’s release from detention?

He came to Nigeria. He was very insulting on air to the Nigerian people. If he had submitted himself to the elders, the elders would have advised caution.

Is it because he strayed that the elders are not helping to secure his release?

The issue is whether he has committed an offence. And the government is insisting he has committed an offence. So you cannot go and tell the government, ok you must release him because he is our son. What we should be asking for is speedy and proper trial. After the trial, if it is proven that he committed an offence; well, there is nothing we can do. He could have stayed in England to lambast the administration, and nothing will happen to him. He didn’t take the advice of the elders.

How best do you remember your late father?

I remember him, especially for the few private moments we shared. Very few and far in between, but then, very rich. And it was those things that he taught me that have today become an armour. Those things that were thought to be very innocuous, very simple, are the things that are helping me, and have really helped me to put my head high and survive many of the travails.

With the renewed clamour for Biafra and the activities of IPOB, do you think he is turning uneasily in his grave or sleeping peacefully?

No; he won’t be turning in his grave because the best thing was his intendment on Biafra. He said his people would be better protected in Biafra, and I share the same sentiments. That’s why any where you see me, I will always tell you I am for Biafra. But I am not for violent Biafra, because what I will not subscribe to is the further decimation of our people

Even Mallam Shekarau knows better than to stand against Prez. Buhari's anti-corruption drive, unlike their corrupt and unrepentant elders that would rather whip up every brand of silly and petty ethno-religious and political sentiments in a vain attempt to muddy up the case against them.

Despite the fact that he is in the opposition, I must commend Shekarau for this statesmanlike statement and conduct which should be emulated by the rest of his corrupt party members, and wish him success in his defence if he was truly unduly implicated. It is not that simple.

But to me, GEJ losing was the best thing that happened. Not because he did not try a bit or because he was the most corrupt. No. IBB & Abacha hold that record.

But because if things were half as bad economically as now, or Chibok girls were still not back, 9ja might be in flames by now.

In any case, I believe in a single term presidency of maximum 6 years only. No need to loot money for re-election. GEJ did 5 years plus and that's enough.
Remember that GEJ did more projects in the North. More universities, hundreds of Almajiri schools & boosted fertiliser supply & agric, etc.

I cannot see what Southerners lost with GEJ out of power, or what Northerners gained in the 40 years Northerners have ruled.

The main reasons are likely:
(1) Nigeria has no proper bridge builders on both sides. Those supposed to build bridges rather burn bridges to consolidate oil wells, power, influence and ego.

(2) Nigeria has a faulty structure. Something that surprisingly to me, Northerners don't see, because Northern elite (who like Southern elite are there for their own pockets) deceive them. The very diverse group that make up 9ja don't have enough space for self-expression & development. North, East, SW & SS will all gain. The presidency need not do too much, with the current top-down system.
The most developed countries are largely ones with a true Federal System: USA, Germany, Switzerland, increasingly UK, etc.

When people feel imprisoned, they will increasingly want to break out.
First of all, northerners never ruled for 40 years, Jack booted soldiers trained to kill and destroy did.

1. The North and SW are in alignment economically and politically, some of the biggest businessmen in Lagos are northerners who have synergized productively with their SW counterparts (Dantata, Dangote, BUA, Otedola, Otudeko, Rahamanniya etc.) There is no problem with bridge building between the North and South, and the greatest political alliance in Nigeria today is between northerners and southerners (APC), however a fundamental problem lies with the unity of the SE with almost every other region in Nigeria.

2. What is the sense behind the statement that Northern masses are being deceived to not see a 'faulty' structure? How? That sounds like ****.

Would the structure cease being faulty once northerners lose their political dominance (which itself is a product of southern disunity)? You amuse me.

I have told you the source of the present disunity (which is really between the SE and the rest of Nigeria); sore losers that cannot digest the fact they their hero has been defeated by a northern candidate with the support of the SW, and frustrated by the repercussions of their choices which has made them politically irrelevant in this regime.

APC worsened sectarianism to get into power.

Problem is that the country is very divided now.
The division in 9ja is much worse than economic and other problems. Economic issues might improve with time but division can become deep-seated and ingrained.

I remember as a kid, if we saw a Mallam, he was seen as an epitome of piety & honesty. And this in a 99% Christian place. If he said anything, nobody doubted him.

Now when you see a Mallam, people shift and suspect him of being Boko Haram.

We also used to welcome those Hausa wandering perfume & ointment sellers. Dates back to over 70 years, as they became friends with granddad who had travelled & lived in the North as a young man. The Hausa traders would be doing ablution around the place.

In fact, we got used to eating halal, so they could partake, even after granddad was long gone. All in a few short decades.

That kind of unity is dead now.
Are we suddenly divided because of herdsmen who are nothing but murderous criminals that have been existing under previous regimes, but whose recent acts were politicised and amplified?

Are we suddenly divided by the activities of criminal militants in the South who have been quiet for the past few years, but whom have suddenly resumed their destructive criminality?

Are we suddenly divided because people who were screaming for Jona to rule a united Nigeria till 2019, suddenly want a break up because they didn't get their wish?

The answers are yes. The country is divided because some people are seriously trying to vomit the political humble pie that the APC fed them over a year ago.

In other words, sore losers worsened sectarianism, not APC.

If the PDP magically wins in 2019, the East must wait till 2027 after the current northern PDP presidential ticket has run its two terms.

The only hope for an Igbo Presidency in the APC (aka Amala and Tuwo party in the East) is through Rochas Okorocha, and if Ibos could reject Ojukwu at the Presidential polls TWICE, then 'Okoroawusa' has no chance.

The APC Presidency in 2023 for Yorubas will be like taking candy from a baby, especially with Buhari's blessings on the candidate.
