sunnyb0b0: Economic turmoil can topple political leadership. That has never happened in Nigeria. However several policies have caused economic disasters among people in Nigerian history e.g monetary policy that effected changing the color of the Naira during the war which economically affected Ojukwu's war. A single ban on certain imports will affect the economy of any region that specializes in it's trade and the national economy by extension e.g spare parts imports. Political power trumps economics any day. |

konkonbilo: The word 'drug' is synonymous to igbo. Yes, I said igbo. When you look at our pharmaceutical industries today in Nigeria, most of them are owned by the igbo, e. g Evans, Dr Meyers etc. Theses are companies owned by the igbos producing our tablets and syrup. E. G practamol and so on(legitimate business men). But when you look at it the other way round, there are still the same group of people found with all kinds of hard drugs e. g cocaine and so on all over the world. It's in the blood and there's nothing anybody can do about it. We can only preach for the bad eggs among them to change their ways and stop giving the country a bad name. Proudly Nigerian. This is baseless because the UK is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing countries but has one of the lowest rates of drug trafficking among its citizens. How do you rationalize that? |

Taich: Hmm. U charge a man like that with such a slippery case and expect he will be convicted, I doubt that seriously. For everyone thinking or hoping that this man will be convicted on this flimsy charge is on a very long thing. Quote me when the case is over. It's our bastardized judiciary that gives you the impression some charges are 'slippery'. The facts are a law was broken, evidence has been gathered, and he is on trial for breaking the law based on available evidence. As far as the prosecution finds him guilty and he serves his punishment even if it's just one hour behind bars, justice would have been seen to have been done. It's better to get a good trial for a single case backed by substantial evidence, than charge him with a dozen counts based on flimsy evidence that cannot be successfully prosecuted. More counts can be added by the FG as evidence is gathered. The key word is justice. |

Efforts of the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan to look into the Halliburton bribery scandal involving Dick Cheney and the other people you mentioned, was only perfunctory and the only person indicted then was Bodunde Adeyanju, a former Personal Assistant (PA) on Domestic Affairs to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. wirinet: Fulani, do not mind him, hated can render someone irrational and psychotic. It provide an excuse for ones failures and failings.
What impact did the pillars of the Jonathan's administration have on their region, their states and even their clan? What about your state governor?, what do they do with the free money they get from Abuja? Have they had any impact on your life?
The Igbos have held every position in this country save the president? what impact did they have on their region? The educational attainment of the south has nothing to do with government policy, it has more do do with the value southerners place on western education, while the northern people generally abhor western education.
So you expect the recent appointments made by Buhari two to four weeks ago to have had significant impact on the north by now.
You need to see a shrink for Hatred management therapy. I'm always amazed whenever I hear their ilk protest the siting of a refinery in Kaduna or a dry-dock in Lagos. I wonder why they never questioned why all the SS/SE leaders that dominated GEJ's administration did not build or facilitate the building of such facilities in their respective zones. And then the clueless dingbats will open a thread to castigate the same North that has been able to build NCAT Zaria (the only aviation college in Nigeria), DICON (only licensed arms manufacturer), Kaduna refinery, Nigerian Military School, CCNN (Cement) among many other government establishments. |

What developments accrued to the south after 16 years in power (1999-2015)?
What you call northern leadership over the years were military dictatorships constituted of jack-booted soldiers who were not after any development, but looting and consolidation of power.
Otueke today lacks potable water despite the fact that their son was Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President and President over 16 years. Was he also a Northerner?
What Nigeria in total lacks, is quality leadership. |
