When did Liz Benson get born again  huh  huh

How come so soon she is even on TV and like some body said, her posters are every where  huh

I do not deny the ability of God to use anyone but I am also interested in the sincerity and genuineness of "those being used by God"

I hope this is for real and not some soap opera.

If it is for real, glory be to God.

Maybe you were acting too hard to get and he had to get himself some easier babe.
Guys do get tired of the hard to get types

Moreover, the guy has every right to date who ever he wants. Just let him be and look else where.

No need kissing another guy in his presence or trying to make him jealous. It will cheapen you and make you seem desperate
CrimeAircraft Terror Plot Disrupted by funloving(op): 10:13am On Aug 10, 2006
A terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight from the UK to the US has been disrupted, Scotland Yard has said.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on to as many as 10 aircraft in hand luggage.
Police arrested about 18 people in the London area and West Midlands after an anti-terrorist operation.

High security is causing delays at all UK airports, Heathrow is closed to incoming flights, and MI5 has raised the threat level to critical.

According to MI5's website, critical threat level - the highest - means "an attack is expected imminently and indicates an extremely high level of threat to the UK".

Home Secretary John Reid confirmed that there had apparently been a plot "to bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions causing a considerable loss of life".

According to BBC sources the "principal characters" suspected of being involved in the plot were British-born.

from The BBC

Can some body please tell me why people born in Britain, are Britons and have lived in Britain all their lives, enjoying the benefits of this country, will want to blow up a plane carrying fellow Britons, all in the name of opposing the Governemnt's anti-terrorist actions? huh huh

How does blowing up planes carrying innocent poeple on holidays or business to earn a living, achieve any worthy goal other than plunging families and friends into a lifetime of pain and sorrow over lost ones? huh

Are there no better means of resistance and opposition? huh huh

Must it be through slaughter of innocent people, a lot of whom actually also opposes the government's actions?

Maybe I digress a bit here

I noticed that alot of blacks in the UK do not seem to smile. They are always either frowning or looking tensed up. Why ?
Are blacks in this country under constant pressure ?

Even in the gym they are so serious.
While driving you see the seriousness and tension
Shopping, walking always serious
Never seem to be relaxed. Never seem to be genuinely happy and smiling

Maybe some body can explain the source of this tension I seem to notice among alot of blacks here.
Is it the same for black fellows in the US ?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: FG Bans DSTV From Airing English Premiership by funloving(m): 9:44pm On Aug 07, 2006
Please lets us not be myopic too self- centred  about this issue. I think this is one of the best things this governement has achieved since its inception.
I have always hated the idea of one (foreign) company having such a monopoly over our DTH industry and charging absurd rates like N9000 a month while Nigerian companies that can render similar services at lower rates are dying off.

The football loving guys and babes may be crying blue murder but lets not allow our love for football blind us to the rape of our economy. We want Nigeria to develop and some very painful steps have to be taken to achieve that. Breaking DSTV monopoly over EPL is one such painful step.

In the short term you might not be able to watch EPL but in the long term, most likely before the Season ends, you will be able to watch EPL and so many other channels from different subscribers at ridiculously low rates.

Mark my words, if the Federal Governement enforcres this ban Nigerian companies will rise up to the challenge, get the rights and broadcast cable TV at very low rates. I see subscription rates crashing down to N3000/month or less in a very short time and there will be variety, which is the beauty of a free market economy. If you are not happy with DSTV you can easily switch to FSTV or Trend TV, unlike this present situation where one is stuck with DSTV.

And for those who say they have no problem paying N9000/month to watch EPL remember the vast majority of other Nigerians who also love EPL but can't watch it, or have to go for a "forced" hair cut at a barber's simply because N9000 is  no joke to them. We should aim for a country where the basic things for a good life is affordable to all and not a few rich people.

For once I declare, BABA CARRY GO !!!

BusinessRe: NITEL Privatised: Bought By Transcorp by funloving(m): 12:41pm On Jul 22, 2006
NITEL May Go To Second Preferred Bidder
BY FELIX ABUGU

THE dust raised by the apparently premeditated sale of the national carrier, NITEL to Transcorp may not have settled after all. There are indications that the failure of the company to pay the intial $500m of the $750m preferred bid price for the telecoms firm may be a pointer to an eventual purchase of NITEL by a reserve bidder.

Reports within the week showed Transcorps was only able to pay $75m or 10 per cent of the preferred bid price. This is far less than the $500m it had until Thursday last week to pay up. Even then, The Guardian learnt, the firm had to borrow the money from the Union Bank of Nigeria, which appeared to have been the only one out of several other Nigerian banks that it had approached.

Last week, Mr. Yemi Odusote, Pricincipal Consultant, Soulcomm, the external communications consultants to Transcorps told The Guardian that talks about Transcorps 'failure' or 'inability' to pay within the stipulated time frame were misplaced. He said Transcorps had only asked for more time from the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) to clear certain grey areas, such as the Share Purchase Agreement and other important matters, in the transaction.

"I know that with this development (the failure of Transcorps to pay), there will be a lot of insinuation about preferential treatment by the government for Transcorps. But this is not the case. What Transcorps is doing is to ensure that the transactions with regard to the purchase of NITEL are handled in a way that all parties to the deal are the happier for it, hence the request for time extension," he told The Guardian on phone.

The BPE spokesman Mr. Joe Anichebe had said Friday last week that Transcorps' request for time extension had been referred to the National Council on Privatisation for consideration.

The latest controversy over government's attempt to sell NITEL is coming barely a year after BPE's move to sell the national carrier to Egypt's telecoms giant at $250m Orascom fell through, following what was considered as "embarrassing" under-pricing of one of the nation's most important assets.

Before then, NITEL having been had a management agreement with Pentascope, a company with no track record whatsoever in network operations and management. Indeed, the address of the company's headquarters in the Netherlands was reportedly as uncompleted, fuelling speculations that the transaction might have been done with fraudulent intent.

The Orascom interlude came shortly after the Pentascope fiasco, which was remarkable for the many ironies it spawned in the nation's quest to achieve efficient telecom regime. It was learnt that Pentascope was inexplicably chosen to manage NITEL over and above reputable telecom companies like BT, Lucent Technologies, among others, which had bidden to take the 51 per cent Federal Government's shares in the company, in the same way that Orascom was chosen over and above some of these same reputable telecom companies in the world.

In the meantime, there were indications within the week that the grant of $75m to Transcorps may have raised a credibility problem for the Union Bank, which, it was learnt, was also the financial adviser to FT Networks, another bidder for the NITEL chairs.

The Guardian learnt that it was FT Networks' bid of $602m for NITEL that made insiders urge Transcorps to up its bid to $750m from $500m, on the grounds that the Nigerian public would suspect foul play if NITEL was sold to the indigenous for less than the price offered by FT Networks.

When NITEL was eventually sold to Transcorps, FT Networks, an investment group with the backing of international financial institutions led by Basic International Development Corporation of New York and which made written commitments to President Obasanjo and BPE to pay if chosen as the preferred bidder, became the reserve bidder.

The investment group is believed to have questioned the morality in UBN's loan to Transcorps, when the bank was supposed to act as its financial adviser in the NITEL deal.

Sources told The Guardian during the week that, barring any "improper" intervention on behalf of Transcorps by the authorities, it is most likely that Transcorps may finally fail to pay up for NITEL, in which case the national carrier will go to the reserve bidder, FT Networks

RomanceSharing Your Bed ? You Are Not Clever by funloving(op): 2:13pm On Jul 20, 2006
IF YOU have ever thought you were stupid to sleep with someone, consider this. Sharing your bed could actually make you stupid if you are a man - at least temporarily.

Even without having sex, bed sharing disturbs sleep quality, say Gerhard Kloesch and colleagues from the University of Vienna, Austria. The team recruited eight unmarried, childless couples, and used questionnaires and a wrist activity monitor, an "actigraph", to assess sleep patterns after 10 nights together and 10 apart.

Men and women fared differently. While men thought they slept better with a partner, and women believed they didn't, actually both sexes had more disturbed sleep, even when they did not have sex. Lack of sleep led to increased stress hormone levels in men, and reduced their ability to perform simple cognitive tests the next day.

However, the women apparently slept more deeply when they did sleep, since they claimed to be more refreshed than their sleep time suggested. Their stress levels and mental scores did not suffer to the same extent.

Kloesch presented his work at a meeting of the Forum of European Neurosciences in Vienna last week.

Sleeping with someone also affected dream recall, with women remembering more after sleeping alone and men recalling best after sex.

RomanceRe: Are You Better Off Single? No Stress. by funloving(m): 12:57pm On Jul 18, 2006
What is selfish about being single  huh
That you choose not to bother yourself with an intimate relationship with another human being, how is that selfish ?

I thought selfishness was about not wanting to share ?
Who says singles don't share ?

I guess you can share your joy and wealth with whosoever you wish.It does not have to be a particular girlfriend or boy friend.

In fact, sharing with your partner alone is selfish because you just don't care about others at all. All you care about is you and your partner, now that is what I call selfishness.

What I believe is that you should be happy with what ever decision you make for yourself and live with it.
If you want a relationship, go for it and make it work happily. If you want to be single then be happily single.

Both lifestyles are okay.Just make sure you take the pros and cons into consideration as you make your decision.

Seun:
Wouldn't you be happy to get rid of all those corrupt and inefficient elements we have in, say, NEPA? huh
Do you sincerely believe that the inefficiency and ineptitude of NEPA, Civil Service and most other Governement parastals is as a result of the staff ?

It is not.

A system is what you make it and not just a function of who works there.
The problem with NEPA and Civil Service transmits from the inefficiency of Government because they are government entities.
Privatise NEPA and you will see it transform overnight to an efficient organisation.
Change the government and give us a sincere and effective governement and you will see efficiency in the Civil Service

If the head of the Civil Service Dept will come early to work, stay till close of the day, do his bit as a leader and insist that the right thing be done without corruption, who is that clerk or senior office that will refuse to perform ?

But when the "Oga" with all his political connections does not get to the office until past 11 in the morning, leaves the office to chase contracts and political associations by 2pm and collects all the bribes imaginable and unimaginable while helping himself to the financial allocation of his department, leaving nothing for the job to be done, is it any surprising that the staff working under him do the same and we see inefficiency being perpetrated all over the Civil Services ?

Sacking all the civil servants in Nigeria will never improve the system.
What will improve the system is to have an effective governement in place and privatise organisations that governement has not business controlling

The body is only as good as the head.

FamilyRe: Men And Women Are Equal! by funloving(m): 7:56pm On Jul 09, 2006
I need to ask the ladies this question: WHO SAYS WOMEN DO NOT HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS WITH MEN ?
What is it that a man is allowed to do that women are hindered from doing, except either where the task is too physically tedious for a woman or it is biologically impossible for her or she is unfortunate to live in one of those wrong countries where women are generally oppressed.

It beats me bangers when ladies in  a free country continue to ask for equal rights, which they already have.
Nobody stops a woman from becoming President,CEO,business tycon, etc
A husband won't stop the wife from helping to pay the bills
In the court of law a woman gets justice just like a man
Women progress to the top of their careers
Women are paid same salaries as their male colleagues
She is given jobs
She can pick any career she wants
She has freedom of speech and association
She can make her own decision
Etc

What exactly is this EQUAL RIGHTS you ladies are hammering about .

Or do you want to be allowed to go and dig up Pit Latrines and toilet  Soakway like men ?
If you want such a job  babe, you are welcome to have it.

Truth is that women like anybody else, are only limited by themselves and not be some fictious lack of equal rights with men.

RomanceRe: Graduate Weds Non Graduate: Is It Possible? by funloving(m): 11:39am On Jul 07, 2006
The issue of being a graduate or a non-graduate is due to (1) our cultural mentality and (2) the poverty in our home country, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Over the years we have come to associate progress and status with being University educated.

Out here in the UK there are university girls who are hanging out and marrying guys who never went to any higher institution.
You see a Master's degree student whose boy friend is a carpenter.

The reason why this is feasible with them is because you don't have to be a university graduate to be comfortable. In my school we have cleaners and Hall Porters who come to work in brand new cars and somebody has argued that even mere railway Protection Masters drive BMW's and Merc's.

But coming from Nigeria it is so difficult to achieve  a certain level of wealth and status if one has not been to a higher institution so automatically, once a guy is not a graduate chances are that he is probably not so well off ( there a execeptions though).

We are also a very class conscious people. We like to mix with people of our class or higher. If a guy has not been to University he is seen as belonging to a lower class and we don't want to associate with him.

We grew up with these notions and mentality and now as adults we think it impossible or absurd for a graduate to marry a non-graduate.

What I believe is, look for a partner you can spend the rest of your life with. As long as such a one is educated(it must not be a university graduate) and capable of playing his or her role in the home, go ahead and settle down with him or her.

As for me, I will like my wife to be a graduate ( I guess it is the Nigerian mentality that is still affecting me  grin) but if I meet a girl I want to marry who is not yet a graduate I will send her to the university.

Hotstepper, thank for this preliminary info. I await further details if you have got it.

No need to give me a specific amount. You can just estimate the range for the less expensive regions like BC, NF and NS.

For example, I can tell you that on average it will cost between £15-£25K to go through an MSc in the UK.
That kind of estimation will be okay.

@ Old Glory and Jackal,
can't you guys read to understand ? Do not allow your subjective opinion of a person or circumstance cloud your objective reasoning or thinking.
My last post clarified my point . But you guys have chosen to have fun by arguing unnecessarily.

I asked for a genuine advice on how to have fun in the UK.
Old Glory tells me to go see a shrink and Jackal calls me a house man and a few other things.Even though they are both extremely wrong.
Why can't you guys just say okay, this and this is what you should do ?
All you guys want is to continue to label others as pessimist, shrink, lazy, etc.

Jackal,
1]I am not a night clubber. I have never been and never will be be. I hate alcohol, can't stand cigarette smoke and loathe extremely loud music.
2]I don't indulge in pre-marital sex.
3]I don't like most English food

I am not a home boy. I am both the indoor and outdoor type, so stop passing biased judgement.

Now I ask you again, tell me how I can have fun without indulging in these three things I have mentioned.
If these three things are the only way to have fun in UK then count me out of the fun.
There are some principles some of us adhere to that we won't change bacuse we are now in the UK.

So any better advice on how to rock this rocking country ?

It is not enough to say the country rocks a million times, please tell me how.

I agree, there wonderful things about the UK. It is nice in so many respects and the beautiful cars are a testimony to the wealth available.
I do not dispute the prosperity of this nation

But still I must ask, what makes it rock ?

Two batches in a Year:
Batch A : Feb/ March
Batch B : Aug/ Sept:

Kaduna is a nice place to serve. I did mine in Zaria and it remains till date the best phase of my life. It was fun all the way.
By the way, Zaria is a major town in Kaduna State, where you have Ahmadu Bello Uinvirsity (ABU)
Like somebody said, it depends on your perspective. Anywhere is good for service. That is what NYSC is all about. It is not for aquiring wealth but just one year of your life to experience something and some place that you may never experience again.

Moreover opportunities can still come your way. I got my job (one of those well paying jobs) back in Nigeria through a fellow cooper who saw the advert in the papers.
Maybe I would have missed that advert if I hadn't served in Zaria.
