Henry120: Yes, that's maiduguiri. Nigerian navy SBS chaps. In- asmuch as we pray that the events in kenya do not take place in nigeria, we can only hope that our security services are well prepared to tackle it , if it ever arises.

I spoke to a DSS friend yesterday, and he told me categorically that they always conduct drills, with scenarios like this also constantly practised. I trust our security service, primarily the DSS and the army. Those guys are very well trained. if they had same resources as their mexican or indonesian counter-parts, terrorism would have been flushed out of nigeria by now.

If a situation like this ever arises in nigeria, the DSS would take the lead. They are the best trained and equipped agency in nigeria. Even navy SBS also have to carry out compulsory trainings with DSS tactical teams.
Thanks for the insight

Henry120: Nigeria
Oga Henry this is definately Maidugury....we hope the FG will be proactive enough to prevent what is happening at the moment in Kenya from happening in Nigeria(You knw this BKH boys like to copy), even at that,if that ever becomes the case,i kow the SBSS will be the no 1 choice to salvage the situation and i can always count on them.

Did you see the Kenya Special forces on TV? Men they looked nice. The sight of them made me think immediately of our DSS and SBSS chaps!

chris365: hmm. guy, my eyes have been glued to aljazeera since and it keeps getting worse. Nigerian government really needs to learn from this o.

Fighter Pilot: Why can't you atleast change the way you wear your ranks. Just look at that captain, he can be distinguished from kilometres away as an officer.

Advice: wear your ranks on the collars of your camouflage shirts and change their colours to black. Is he a medic officer?
They are cadets sir in the Nigeria Defence Academy

Henry120: Yes, it is for the army. I do not know the specs of the vehicle.
We dont know the specs of the vehicle, but i am just thinking aloud like if the vehicle is for the army what possible use could it be put to. the vehicle looks more to me like what would be handy for NPF. The vehicle looks intimidating but i cant see its weapon stations(probably because of the orientation of the picture) and i am also thinking if this is what the army needs now.

THE WORLD AT WAR

The priest of Ares was at the marshaling,
Bloated by allegiances of the princes of Axis of evil.
He crossed the Rubicon,
Riding headlong on legions of steel horses.
The Luftwaffe herded,
Smoldering eyes of Caucasian skies.

But the suddenness was as blitzkrieg.
Poland fell at the instant.
The tale petrified the littorals
And all the world allied to sluggish their fate.
Now at the carnage was a malcontent,
Maddened by Chamberlain’s dream of an empire where the sun never sets.
…called the world to war which was the second.

And behind lines of engagement generals arranged the fight
And chose the arena.
Countrymen acceded;
Statesmen did the boastings.
To prove true the boasters,
Young men were called up to buffet the madness of the devil,
To defend nay perturbations of statesmen,
And to orphan lads and widow wives who did them no wrong.

The sons of adventure came in the millions,
In same magnitude perished they pro patria*.
For a peace that left them without,
And a victory that at the least cost
Would be a world set to approbated self-destruction.

*Latin; for the father land

Don Oms: Yes, by God's grace I squeezed into Round 2. As a brilliant Engineer who likes writing & poetry without studying Art technically, my joy is that my poetry isn't seen as crap. I just think we all should be encouraged to be better poets than ourselves. We just could hit the Hall of Fame someday.
@ Don oms u are right neither am i of the ARTS only came upon peotry as a means of expression. I attepmted the challenge only because i wanted a public critique of my work so i can know if i can truly call myself a poet-now i know...i did not even pick my best just randomly selected two from which i chose one to enter the competition. Even at this level i am satisfied.
