eDeity:Are you a Nigerian politician, why you dey shift goal post na. We are talking about whales in general here. Even the post self was about Humpback Whale. Let's learn to admit when we are wrong. Nobody go flog u. No body sabi everything, everyone has their own flaws. |
"The camera stopped working at 8:00 pm". In other words, evidence of the shooting might not have been captured. Then of what use is this video evidence that took so long to be submitted. Now I fully understand why the old national Anthem started with "Nigeria, We Hail Thee" |
Nigeria government ![]() I use to think lying is for kids, damm!, I was wrong. On a more serious note; e don do oo, we agree..so u guys should just keep quiet. Haba!

Suspend champions league and internat football. Those are the main causes of the virus in football. League matches should continue with more caution |
Let's stay peaceful. Nsukka people are very peaceful and lovely people. That said Igbos in the east should limit their hatred for Hausa, especially the few staying with them in the East. In two different occasions (while schooling), i have been a room mate to Hausa and Igbo at the same time. I see the tension between them. It's ancient and disturbing because it hide deep within them (especially the Igbos) and manifest itself every now and then. Let's stay peaceful! |
nero2face:Lesson for Nigeria: =>Stop putting terrorists/bandits in rehab. Thats not the purpose of rehab. You are simply grooming them. => IRON SHARPENS IRON |
Decimus:I don't like lengthy conversation but let me summarise so that you don't misunderstand my point. Here are the answer to each of the paragraphs question a above. =》"WHY are they always inferring that they are on strike for the betterment of the universities." Simply put, they are. Whichever way you look at it: From development point of view, have you ever heard of TETFUND and how ASUU fought tooth and nail to ensure its success when things weren't going the way it should. If you stay near a university, just survey the building and see where their funds came from. From salary point of view: There is a saying that "a hungry man is an angry man". What do you expect from your lecturers if after working they only get 50% of their salaries (main reason for this thread). =》I don't quite agree with your claim that ASUU should be supported so that the public universities won't go the way of the primaries and secondaries. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”–George Santayana. Last time everyone supported the government against NUT (you can read about it). Government did made lots of promises but never kept them. Take a good look at the state of our public primary & secondary schools now. Government had ealier in 2009 and 2013 aggreed to release some funds for the universities. Lengthy strike actions were taken to achieve those agreements. From then till now the have not honored the agreement and you think people should not support ASUU. what then are you telling the federal government. They should have at least call for a renegotiation of agreement with ASUU if they can't honor their words. =》"Their strikes doesn't matter and it won't make the universities better. " Their strike matters. But to some extent you are tight-" it won't make the universities better". I personally think they could have been having this current discussions/negotiations with FG while school is still on. Strike is not the only way to dialogue with FG, ASUU should do their home work well. Thanks for the healthy conversation. I rest my case |
Decimus:Improving university is not a job for ASUU alone. Many people don't know ASUU or their functions. ASUU - Academic Staff Union of Universities. They are one of several section of the university staffs. They are responsible for teaching the student. There are also the Non-academic staffs like the NASU, SSANU e.t.c. Apart from salaries, the money ASUU always fight for in the name of university development goes into the university wallet not ASUU. ASUU make sure the FG release the money to the universities. The university headed by the VC who answers to the government (state government in most cases). So how the funds are used depends mostly on them not ASUU. SO "universities improving or deteriorating" is not just the fault of ASUU. The problem is that Nigerians (both leaders & followers) have the habit of making a simple problem look complex. For example, this strike isuue b/w FG and ASUU; very simple problem with simple solution, but look how complex both parties have made it. |
Olodo full nairaland ooo. See empty heads everywhere....chai! How can someone be arguing about something he/she knows nothing about. Left for this fish brains on Nairaland, FG for don dismantle ASUU same way it did Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and turn public universities to shit just like they did with primary and secondary. Olodo them, how many of your children dey attend public primary and secondary schools now. You keep supporting failure....and you are wandering why you are failing in life. Shame! |
I need to avoid nairaland and other social media for @least one week. Make dis nonsense blow over abeg. Enough of this madness. C u all next week Sunday by God Grace. ![]() |
I have seen few government come and go this far here in Nigeria. Most of them are criminals and muderers. But this one that are filled liars...I just they see. Such level of cowardness |
Very soon you guys will say wuna no off light. "There was a power failure at the venue of protest alone...even the backup systems failed." For those who dont understand, denial is the only way they can avoid prison in the nearby future. Because this thing will blow back years to come. They will never accept responsibility because they won't be in power forever. |
This country get president at all?. Did he think his silence will stop this mess. I hope the oil region's don't start blowing up pipelines, the economy don pad as e dey so |
IDesignLOGO:Soldiers no be police. They don't need shooting order b4 they shoot. They take action base situation at hand. On a personal level, if they feel provoked, they are licenced to respond. I think those leki soldiers we're too over zealous in trying to please their masters thinking people will runway when they start shooting or when there is casualties |
helinues:I don't pity you oo. I just pity your family you are attracting course to. I pray make God give us pikin wey go bring blessing to us rather than course and shame. |
This is not how to protest. This lie lie government will simply call them hoodlums. At least for the sake of observing bodies (local and international ) protest with flag. |
Simple problem that could have been solved quite easily. Greed will not allow the leaders to do the needful. It's time they put aside personal gain and pride for this issue to be resolved. You don't quench fire by applying petrol. People you are killing have brothers and sisters. They also belong to a community. Protest are ongoing simply because things are not working well. FG allocate outrageous salaries and allowances for themselves at the expense of the poor. Make things work! |
To spot a paid commenter on nairaland, just look at the person's previous post and registration date. A lot of them are flowing around recently...Government sponsored internet soldiers (keyboard warriors ) |
Adprone:Government if denial, very soon them go deny this one too |
Kzinne:Insults will not allow you block-heads to learn simple fact. Do you even know the meaning of PEACEKEEPING? in millitary. The Crocodile smile operation, do you know that it is a peace keeping operation. Just go and mess with a millitary personnel on a peace keeping operation and see the outcome. You think say them be police! The military purpose is to SERVE and PROTECT. Go and read your books. At least get something for head before you insult people. |
NASS? People way den don block their mouth with money.
|
Oly in africa that young people think there's a higher authority than their country, every country is on it's own....international organisations are just social clubs...they have no real authority. Everyone is on his/her own in this world. If you don't want to be enslaved you know what to do to your slavemasters... Copied from: Testing oyay |
The major problems of this government is illiteracy & Greed. Nigeria have had bad government for a long time yet their knowledge and lack of Greed enabled them to always keep the calm. Now there is crisis and the president due to his inability to speak good English cannot come out to address the situation. He needs to do a 2weeks rehearsal of a single speech. Just pay ASUU their salaries and let school open about two months ago...them no gree. Everything government want use gra gra Shame! |
jlinkd78:No explanation needed. Military rule of engagement say " when provoked, react". That's why the military are not used for things like this. They have their own purpose. They are licenced to shoot. They don't need order from above unless otherwise. Should a military personnel be killed on that protest ground, they don't mind unleashing hell on everyone there. They will tell you that the hoodlums (not protesters ) provoked the incident that led to the shooting . |
Never protest without a flag. Carry a Nigerian flag always during protest no matter how small the flag. |
This people has failed this country. How I wish their children are resident in the country after they leave power. |
Nigeria politicians are fantastically smart. Now they have a good reason to impose cufew and put an end to the protest without been non-democratic. ![]() All this clever tactics is just postponing the problem. It will still blow up one day. How i which they use this smartness for good instead of looting.
|
ODJ124:What about the unpaid allowances? This is a democratic system, you cant just wake up one day and decide to pay people with a payment system that reduces their monthly earning and expect them to accept it. The so called IPPIS is good but it does not capture ASUU 2009 agreement with the federal government leading to reduction in salaries of their members. |
Yeye politicians. You see why "black life matter" dose not really "matter" ?. Even the so called blacks are racist to themselves, even Igbos they lead protest for other states and yet nobody is asking them to go back to their state for protests. Nigerians abroad they do the protest too. |
Unless their withheld salaries are paid up until the last dime. I don't see them resuming even if other requirements are met. ASUU are very head-strong individuals. FG keep using the same tactics (Hunger) on ASUU. Since I was born, the tactics has never worked even for once. Yet FG keep using the same tactics...bunch of block-heads individuals (FG). |
Even among Jesus disciples, there was Judas. But honestly, the protesters should not block peoples means of livelihood. They should not oppress others people carrying out their daily activity. If they do, then there is no point protesting since they are guilty of similar offense as FG. |
