Tpeters: Embattled Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was absent from the commissioning of the Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal because the Presidency refused to allow him deliver an address.
Scannews learnt that the Minister arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Thursday morning and was shown the vetted programme which excluded his name.
Ministry of Transportation sources stated that Amaechi urged the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika to altar the programme to allow him speak at the event holding in Port Harcourt. Sirika pointedly told the Amaechi that two Ministers cannot speak at one event from the same Ministry. It was at this point that Amaechi angrily opted to stay away from Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the Presidency deleted the name of the Minister of Transportation from the list of speakers because it wanted an apolitical event.
Aside Amaechi, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transportation and all the directors of the Ministry and relevant parastatals were on ground at the event. Following the absence of Amaechi, the programme was civil with no group acting irresponsibly.

The United Nations has begun partial movement back to its edifice in Abuja, Nigeria, eight years after it was bombed by boko haram insurgents.
The UN Resident Coordinator, Edward Kallon , announced the movement to the building at the celebration of the 73rd UN Day on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr. Kallon explained that the UN building built by the Federal Government was being occupied by the UN agencies in 2005 until the unfortunate bombing on August 26, 2011.
“The 2018 UN Day is a very important day for the UN system in Nigeria as it underscores the excellent cooperation and partnership of the UN and Nigeria over the years.
“Indeed this year’s UN Day also marks the UN family partial move back to the UN House.
“To the UN in Nigeria the UN House is a symbol of the resilience of our extraordinary cooperation and partnership with the Government and people of Nigeria,” he explained.
“The 2011 bombing of the UN house was an attack against those who devoted themselves to serving UN values,” according to Mr. Kallon.
He commended the Nigerian Government and its citizens for their commitment to rebuild the UN House.
Mr. Kallon expressed the hope that the partial movement which he said would begin with UNDP, UNICEF among others would inspire the staff to work better.
He said that the movement would help the workers build stronger partnerships and build a better future for the people of Nigeria.
“Let us recommit ourselves, while celebrating the UN Day to make the world a better place for all, where nobody will be left behind,” he said.
In a message, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mohammed Bello, described the event as significant as it marked the first time of gathering again at the building after the 2011 bombing of the building.
The Minister who was represented by Mr. Umar Jubril, an official of the Ministry said the reopening represented the fulfillment of efforts to rebuild but to make the UN building better.
“The UN building stands out as the symbol of our resilience and unbroken promises in addressing various challenges we are facing as a nation,” he said
Congratulating UN family on the return to the edifice, he assured them of the FCT’s commitment on security of life and property of all staff and their families and the institution
“The FCT Administration has worked to improve the security architecture in the territory to forestall reoccurrence of the last ugly incidence.”
“We have beefed up security presence in and around the premises and ensure security surveillance around the area.
“We also pledge our commitment to serve as a good host to the UN family urge your staff to feel welcome in the FCT in which the ideal,” he said.
The UN building in Abuja, Nigeria was bombed through a car bomb explosion on Friday, August 26th, 2011 which killed about 21 people and wounded 60 persons.

bilms: Why Atiku Can’t Become President In 2019 – Olawepo Hashim
Ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar missed his chance to become president in 2007, according to the presidential aspirant of the Alliance for New Nigeria, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim.
According to Olawepo-Hashim, Atiku, although qualified to serve as the nation’s leader, is a man of the past as Nigerians are now thinking about the future.
“By all standards, the Waziri of Adamawa is qualified to be the President of Nigeria,” he told Vanguard.
“Having been Vice President before, but the 2019 election is a different election, I think Vice President Atiku missed his chance of being president in 2007 and talking about in 2019 is like talking about the future of Nigeria and at the same time facing and reasoning backward.
“80% of Nigerians want to see a new direction, they don’t want to go backward, and Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a man of yesterday.”
On why he should become president, the former journalist said he would unite the country.
“Number one, I will be able to unite the country, I will be able to build a strong economy given my experience,” he added.
“I’m that candidate that majority of voters particularly first-time voters and who are very significant, almost about 15 million of them, who are not supporters of APC or PDP.
“And then, my friends in PDP and APC who have made up their mind that when it comes to presidential election ‘we will vote Gbenga,’ that’s an edge I have going for me. I believe, no other candidate in this election has that.”
https://www.concisenews.global/2018/10/23/why-atiku-cant-become-president-in-2019-presidential-aspirant/ Leave Atiku alone and tell us why we should vote you, tells what you can do differently if not just step down nobody force you to contest |

quickberry: About 200,000 members of the Atiku Care Foundation, have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The members who decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, also declared their loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid. Addressing journalists in Kano, spokesman of the group and former Director of Administration and Strategy for the North-West zone of the Atiku Care Foundation, Comrade Sunusi Ababai, said over “200, 000 members of the Atiku Care Foundation in the North-West have declared their loyalty to President Buhari.” He said, “For several years now, we have been working hard for the development of Atiku Care Foundation. A lot of promises were made when we started. “They told us that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar needed a platform to reach out to the masses at the grass root. We were committed because there were a lot of programmes from healthcare delivery, education, entrepreneurship, and youth and women empowerment. “We started with our own money. Nobody gave us a dime because we believed that Atiku meant well for the nation; but unfortunately, we were abandoned at a time structure of the Foundation became solid. We were waiting all these while for Atiku to finance the programmes, only for us to hear how he splashed Dollars in Rivers state just to win the PDP presidential primaries. “We worked for him without money, but he did not even appreciate our efforts and contributions. We believe that if such a person is given the mandate, he will disappoint Nigerians. So, our support for President Buhari is based on our personal conviction that he is the Messiah Nigeria needs now. “We call on Nigerians, particularly, the youths to rally round President Buhari and give him the mandate to correct what the PDP-led government has plunged this country into for over 16 years they held on to power.”

Drabeey: PDP should just keep quiet!
None of these makes any sense! If Obasanjo is still having the grip of Nigeria's governance till date, how are different from other Africa countries that are still under tyranny and undemocratic governance? Please, spare the BS that Nigeria is a Democratic country, we all know how Obasanjo crippled the Judicial system of Nigeria! So he planted the seed of Judicial impunity of today! The more the likes of Obasanjo still have any say to Nigerians future today, he still doesn't mean Nigeria and Nigerians well, he should have made it right during his time. He's a failure, and failures shouldn't be allowed to have a say in what we want for our own future! Nigerians, I believe we are living the special life Obasanjo and his cohorts wants for us, well it is sad we can't but accept it, but I believe it is so wrong for us not to highjack the shackles of Nigeria from Nigerians that have nothing to offer! It would be a great undoing for us to leave this impunity and disservice to mankind if we seat and do nothing, I'm sure our coming generations would not forgive us either (I haven't forgiven Obasanjo for selling....).
I'm not talking about parties nor tribes here, all I'm saying is that we deserve better leaders than the likes of Obasanjo and anything that has to do with him!
