PoliticsRe: Lebanese Arrested Over Weapons Trafficking & Stockpiling by gazilion: 10:17am On May 31, 2013
Onyocha: [b]

may God Almighty deliver Nigeria from the clutches of Israel and the US during this Jonathan (niger delta) administration.

last it was Iranian made weapons bought by gambia that Israel plotted to get ceased in Lagos, and the Iranians were arrested.

now Lebanese businessmen who are Shia Muslims and have nothing to do with salafist (shia hating) boko haram (a Wahhabi alqaeda affiliate) are now arrested and framed for "ties" with boko haram.as for "ties" with Hezbollah, what does "ties" mean? Hezbollah isn't depending on the money of businessmen to organize itself.hezbollah gets Iranian funds in hundreds of millions of dollars, and Syrian government support.

moreover, this would be a case of hypocrisy to the maximum.just last month when the Lebanese president,Michel Suleiman, visited Nigeria, the Lebanese agriculture minister Hussein Haj Hassan (a member of Hezbollah),accompanied him.he was one of the accompany members of the president's entourage.why didn't Nigeria arrest him? since when is Hezbollah a "terrorist organization" in the eyes of Nigeria? even the European union has so far refrained from designating Hezbollah as a "terrorist organization",and European officials often hold meetings with Hezbollah officials.german intelligence officials conduct prisoner exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel.hezbollah has MPs in the Lebanese parliament and ministers in the government, and represents the Shia Muslim community, which is the largest single religious community in Lebanon making over 40% of the total population.

as usual in Israel designed plots, the stories are either not consistent or contradictory.there is an attempt to link Shia Lebanese to Salafist/Wahhabi Boko haram.(note the west is supporting Wahhabi/salafist terrorists in Syria).and there is an attempt to link them for "ties" with Hezbollah "plotting" against Israeli and western targets.which claim are we going to believe? and the most sad, annoying and ignorant part is when Nigerian officials dramatize when the word "Hezbollah" is mentioned, without regarding the above stated facts.

Israel and the US should stop taking Nigeria as a field to execute their plots against their own enemies because our president is not a hausa man;a hausa man as president is known for being tough against western dictates .in Nigeria we live peacefully and embrace all foreigners and treat all strangers kindly.

dozzybaba: Has anyone ever wondered the real meaning of Naira 40 years after it was introduced... or are we just lazy researchers and thinkers in this part of the world?

Can anyone tell us the etiology of that word? Well, I just found out Awo's best kept secret. The full meaning of Naira which he introduced on 1 January, 1973, just 3 years after the end of the civil war. This is another confirmation of great Achebe's thought about this man called Awolowo. I was opportuned to meet with the biological child of one of his late political associates(names withheld). He bared his mind and opened up about the magnitude of vile and hatred Awo had for Igbos and submitted that Awo coined Naira as thus ;

N-Never
A-Allow
I-Igbo
R-Rule
A-Again

The coinage of Kobo will be more shocking and revealing to you but i will save that for later.

PoliticsRe: Wole Soyinka's Interview About Chinua Achebe by gazilion: 4:24pm On May 25, 2013
Ola Johnson: You can tell who a child is when you hear one speak. How many writers attended the burial? Mention their names. It is not unusual for friends of like-mind to attend their burials. As popular as Obafemi Awolowo was Nnamdi Azikiwe never attended his burial.

It is your lack of understanding that would make you say Pyrate Confranternity nay National Association of Seadogs is a cult, and therefore Wole Soyinka a cultist. What he and six others founded was a fraternity which the management of the University of Ibadan even approved of. As a matter of fact, the school contracted the fraternity to provide security during their 20th anniversary in 1968. There are organizations like DSM, MSJ, Pace Setters, etc like fraternities when I was in OAU. They build the IQ of their members through seminars, call for papers, etc. Get that into your skull, otule.

No marriage is perfect. As far as I know Wole Soyinka had three wives.
It's only a fool who in his imbecilic nature insults a better person without provocation in a scholarly discourse. I normally will not join issues with zealous nincompoops, however, it is imperative for the records, to return back in uncountable gazillion fold to the writer what he called me. This will also be in multiple folds hereafter should he continue in his stupidity!!

Wole Soyinka by not attending Achebe's burial sends a message of dissent. The book "there was a country" definitely has stirred the hornets nest among the Yoruba's. Wole Soyinka is a tribal jingoist, a cultist and a godless man. He failed in his marriage (s) and have just lost the respect I once had for him. Darkson007: The case has been seriously investigated and it was gathered that the Monarch whose town is Ilowa somewhere near Ilesha, did write a book which pondered on the superiority of his seat has compared to the seat of the Oba of Ilesha.According to the book Oba Boukola reflected and gave insight on how the Ilesha land was given to the Ileshas by the Ilowas in the days of old. However in present day, the Oba of Ilesha is being seen has more superior, more so in the Council of Obas.In retaliation to this book, the Oba of Ilesha decided to set his "lesser" Oba up by paying the youth corper to tarnish the Oba of Ilowa's image.Observation will disclose to you that a Yoruba lady could not accept to do this demeaning act hence the use of an Eastern lady who of course has no idea of the Yoruba Culture and intrigues, to commit this atrocity.Eye witnesses revealed that the lady in question who is seriously regretting her action was indeed the girlfriend of the Oba as they have been seen together in the past at his mansion in Oshogbo where she used to pass the night.
And you think anyone will buy your views? Please supply us with the source of your story!!

PoliticsComparing Legacies - Obasanjo Vs Goodluck Jonathan by gazilion(op): 2:32pm On May 21, 2013
I just discussed with two of my colleagues during lunch today on President Jonathan's legacy or would be legacy after leaving office. Comparing him with our ex-president OBJ, I did point out 6 things that would remain a legacy and which positively impacted on the lives of virtually all average Nigerian families. I understand OBJ spent 8 years in office but with Jonathan's first term, any hope he'll surpass the legacies below?

Firstly, Obasanjo introduced and liberalised the use of the GSM. Prior to this, telephone - whether land or mobile was almost exclusively for the rich.

Secondly, it was under the Obasanjo leadership that Nigeria's debt got written off in the Paris Club.

Thirdly, it was Obasanjo who bravely retired all Military men in the Nigerian Army who had tasted or held any political office.

Fourthly, it was also under his leadership that the Nigerian banking institution got brilliant reformations (although with some lapses) - This reformation stopped the total collapse of the financial institution in Nigeria during global financial melt down.

Fifthly, under OBJ Prof. Dora Akunyili of NAFDAC brought back in Nigeria the integrity of pharmaceutical drugs and fought vehemently without ethnic colouration, the barons importing fake drugs in Nigeria.

Finally, the fight against corruption under OBJ's leadership did have some bite. Whether it was used in hunting political opponents or not...it did have some bite and we are all witnesses that since the exit of Mallam Ribadu, the anti-corruption institution has virtually lost her voice and temerity.

I'm just thinking aloud, what will president Jonathan's Legacy be?

Please, let's discuss with a sense of decorum without insulting one another including calling our leaders Obscene names.

Built2last: While waiting to board a flight from Charlotte to Atlanta sometime last year, I noticed a small number of US Soldiers were also waiting to board the same flight.I was immediately fascinated by their youthfulness and nice camouflage . They looked like boys and girls to me. I even suspected they were cadets. My first surprise came when the flight was about to board. The announcer made it clear that men and women of the US army should step forward and board first the plane first. This was gahead of passengers on the first class compartment . When we had all boarded the flight, the pilot then announced that the airline was happy and privileged to be flying with men of the US army and welcome them specially on board. When we landed in Atlanta, the pilot announced again and thanked the men of the US army for flying with United Airlines and this time everyone on the plane went into a round of applause, clapping for almost a minute. I had to join in clapping for the US soldiers. This is how much America values the men and women, battling insurgents in other to protect the home land.Today lets offer prayers and applaud the men and women battling insurgents from Bayelsa to Nassarawa , from Borno to Yobe, from Katsina to Kano. Staying awake for us to sleep. taking the battle to the enemies so we can live a normal life. These are the real men with balls. Not the cowards that attacks defenseless people and scurry away to hide.I JUST CHOOSE TO CELEBRATE NIGERIAN ARMY.

The below is a quoted response from a Northerner to the evil article!!

"The question that must be asked is: Was the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua promoting Northern hegemony when he appointed Malam Tanimu Yakubu, Dr Omar Mukhtar, Dr Usman Shamsudeen and Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Economic Adviser, Finance Minister, National Planning Minister and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria respectively? Igbos, Yorubas and other ethnic groups did not question Yar’Adua’s judgment then because these men were qualified for the positions and nobody accused Yar’adua of arewanisation policy. What is the lesson here? The best can come from any part of Nigeria. Inciting one ethnic group against another has led to tragic consequences in the past but fortunately the Nigerian public is fast losing its appetite for lies and deceitful propaganda. It is highly dishonest to keep silent when situation favours you and begin a campaign of lies"

Christianity EtcRe: Deeper Christian Life Ministry Then, And Deeper Life Bible Church Now. by gazilion: 10:24pm On Nov 03, 2012
Ezniteadin: I used to attend Deeper-Life, I can say without Mincing words since 1979, at that time, I was Just 7 Years old. Then W. F Kumuyi was running the Bible Study From Oyingbo in Lagos, most people were really Ignorant of the Bible and so was I, what do you expect from a 7years old Child who was at the time under the care of an Illiterate mother who had become so fascinated by the new Christian Life taught by Deeper Life and compared to the Aladuara Congregation where the Husband was then a pastor, She was converted by the Conviction of the Holy Ghost after mocking a woman who was Preaching in a “Molue” Bus in Lagos, According to her testimony, she got back home and was pricked, a thought kept ringing in her mind that “You are on your way to Hell” she said for what “Laughing”? she recalled, and was under a severe torture until she went to a sister around town who already knew what it meant to be born again, The Sister who was at the time a nurse, Led her to the Lord after ministering salvation message to her and she became Born again. She put so many things behind her after Being Born again,
There was an obvious transformation in the life of my mother who used to be a troublesome woman in the community, there was a story before her conversion, how she fought two men on a boat where she was then selling “Filling Sand” and her mien was intimidating for any man to dare talk less of a woman, Mum after conversion was as gentle as a lamb, she would hardly respond to anyone who tickle her for some kind of trouble, She was not educated, but for her interest in the thing of God, She learned to read the Bible through a miraculous teaching by God. In those days of her ministerial life, I remembered that she eventually started the Yoruba “House Fellowship” with some strong members In the Area where she was living at the time, she led some Muslim Sisters to the Lord Jesus and several of unsaved people in her community, One of the Muslim sister is presently a mighty minister of the Gospel.
Because of the evident power of God manifested in her life, Parents who were fearful of the pronouncement of death on their Children came to our house and were prayed for by mum and their kids will live, she prayed for the sick and they recovered, our last born was restored back to life by her prayers after being dead and a lady who was attacked by witchcraft was prayed for and a head that was turned backward against nature returned to normal through the Power of prayer and faith in the name of Jesus. There were lots of miracle and evidence of God’s presence in our house.
I was a stubborn child growing up like some other kids, there was a particular case of theft which I remembered committed by me and when asked, I denied it, but mum just looked all her kids in the face and said, “The Lord will reveal it” That was all she said and we went about our business. In the Night of that incident she woke us all up and called me, she started to narrate the incident and how I entered the house and took the item, she narrated it to the point of telling what dropped when the act was commuted, I started to cry, I was shocked because I was sure that I was the only one at home when the crime was done, I wondered how she got wind of it. God showed up that night in a dream and told my mother everything and how it went.
That was the last time for lies as far as relating with my mum was concerned
There were several testimonies of God’s power in the lives of people who sincerely gave their lives to the lord Jesus
There was a lot of love at the time, Christian were Christians and the marks (Fruit) were evident by a genuine conversation, PA Josiah Akindayomi was still alive and Redeem had countable Churches in the city of Lagos, we were confined to Deeper Life Teachings and prayer, I grew up to be fascinated by W. F Kumuyi’s insight into scriptural truths at the time, I was young but had an open mind for good guiding information, the only one I was exposed to was that of Deeper Life until I started on my own to find out other sources of explanation to Christianity.
It was the days when lots of influences were coming into Nigeria from the outside world, some people believed they can get the attention of God by Living “Holy”, others are of the opinion that “Praise Worship” is the style of bringing down the glory of God, there were those who chose to be “International” neglecting their originality, so you will find someone who copies American preachers who were constantly selling idea to upcoming preachers, There were “Kenneth Haggin” who majored on Faith, Benny Hinns, whose Operation was the Miraculous, “Shamback” and a host of others. The influences were more
The Bible was a Yardstick of measuring anyone, But I realized that people have different insight to the truth in the Bible. Looking back now, there are many things that can drive a man into the Ministry (God’s work) when a man is driven by sincerity, it pays better, he might make mistakes because we do not know it all, yet sincerity will help him to find his feet and will drive him to correcting the mistakes.
Deeper Life focused on Righteousness and Holiness at that time, the impact was so much that as soon as an individual becomes a member of Deeper Life, He or she is marked by certain Do’s and don’ts, “we would not do this, we would not do that,” and so many things that marked members of deeper life out in the crowd, the lifestyle were offensive to so many people, some of the members were denied of certain rights others deny themselves so as to please God. W.F kumuyi’s messages were compelling and so were the messages of all his comrades, the Likes of Steven Akionla, Alfred Itiowe, Shafe, Ransom Bello, A.O Itiola, Lawon, Isaac Ijalano, Amatare, and a host of others. These men were bonded by same spirit and there was no contradictions whatsoever in their messages, they presented God’s word with different approach yet they achieve same purpose in the minds of the hearers,
There were not too many Churches at the time, Pastor Enoch Adeboye was at most of the time an Interpreter to Pa Josiah Akindayomi, founder of Redeem Christian Church of God. Baba was a father to Both W.F Kumuyi and E. A Adeboye, who were both Lecturers at different times in University of Lagos.
By Mid 70’s and early 80’s the interest for the Teaching of God’s word was really high and the approach of Kumuyi was uncommon in most assembly, so, People left their congregation and places of worship and attended Bible study in “Deeper Christian Life Ministry” (DCLM) I recalled, that my Father who was a pastor of a Local assembly would also visit the church in Oyingbo and I discovered several Old Bible Study outline of deeper life in his library with several bible commentaries, Although he was sneaking to the study, he was not confortable with the idea of my mother attending a church other than His, so he Visited Kumuyi in the 70’s and requested that He (Kumuyi) should drive my mother out of His Church, But Brother Kumuyi for so was he called at the time, said, He cannot take the decision of driving anyone who has interest in the word of God, There were fights that we (Children) witnessed at home over the matter and until my father was on his sick bed and he realized he was going to die, That was when he called my mum to straightened things with her, I can say that Mum was not entirely faultless in the whole saga, both in reaction and the broils at home; but all this form an opinion of what life and relationship should be in the mind of a growing child
I observed that it was impossible to be hypocritical at the time, maybe because I was a child learning, Christianity was not Just at the time by “Outward appearance” it was from inward and it affected the outward, You do not need to be told that a passerby on your street was a Christian, it was very obvious, by the fruits they bore, they were like weak, feeble being, they will not revenge, they are always sober, and you can see an inward Peace within them, because they are not troubled by circumstance, there is a peace that you cannot explain and it steers at you.
I am amazed that at the time, people who ere are willing to make confession and start all over again, you will find Leaders who when they fail, will without compelling, report themselves to the church and are afterwards relieved of all spiritual activities and they will gladly go and pray.
I personally encountered the saving power of God at a programme organized by “I suspect” Four square Gospel Church as a little boy, it was the first time I ever understood what it meant to escape the Judgment of God by accepting God’s solution offered by Jesus Christ. I repented and follow the lord (still following) but I was no longer confined to deeper Life, although I learned the Christian teaching in deeper Life and understood certain truth in Deeper Life, even participated as a DLSO Instructor

But that was then,
I later grew to experience decay, a hardness of heart, Hypocrisy and idolatry, I saw how the devil penetrated the pulpit and made men so deceived to jostle for position, I saw human worship, (Idolatry) arrogance, like in many places I saw fight, I saw cessation, I saw rivalry, I witness an authoritarian style of leadership, and I wonder with much pains at what man can suddenly become.
I have personally experienced backsliding in my own relationship with God, But God hunted me in love and helped me in finding my way back
It is common Knowledge that Satan fights any work of God to destroy it, but the point is
How did we become so undiscerning? How did we begin a walk in the spirit and are almost at the edge in the flesh, I am not so surprised, when we stop to pray as we ought, both Personally and as a congregation, we are near defeat, I was shocked when I heard that and order was given to stop “Prayer Warrior” I can remember how Bro Akande, was Championing the course at the car park in those days. I think we became too fearful for error or the Devil, that we allowed him to suggest ways of checking his influence.
I was shocked when Prayer meetings were disbanded, I know that people will go their own ways, but the work of the ministry does not lie solely in the hands of one man.
Today, it is more shocking how we think we can win a soul into the kingdom without first wetting the soul on our knees, an example which Jesus himself displayed many times (secretly) we have become monotonous, dolling out ordinary words not backed up by Prayer.
I must confess that the huge impact of Deeper life in our country and the world cannot be denied, Pastor Kumuyi has labored immensely entering countries of the world from continent to continent after his appearance on Monday Bible study in Lagos. He has touched several lives, but for his insight into scripture, a lot of us would have worshiped God with some level of error and maybe worshiped men also.
W. F Kumuyi has affected several Churches and their founders, You can name them, I know so many churches that broke into factions as a result of the impact derived from Deeper Life. This is good for the Church to spread the gospel. Although several did not see any reason to continue like deeper life, others imported errors into their congregation deceiving the young undiscerning youths but the truth is they became mouthpiece for the Lord Jesus in several community
He is known for teaching, however, some of the Generals around Pastor Kumuyi, were not Teacher, there were Prophets amongst them, there were Evangelist, there were several people who also have the ministry but were handicapped by the Fear and Unwritten rules drawn in the heart
If Jesus Tarries, I pray Deeper life will produce more and more little Kumuyi’s and many more Jesus who would understand the workings of God and know the mind of Christ for the Church, not necessarily amongst some present anxious men who are waiting to be named as General Overseer, and desperate men who have no connection with the Holy spirit yet are willing to hold on to title.

After the Death of Sist, Biodun Kumuyi I watched the trend of Idolatry, how the Picture of a dead woman become very important to us as to display it on a Deeper Life website, How suddenly Bro/Pastor Kumuyi is being referred to as Daddy. I am not against calling an elderly person daddy, But I see the importation of a trend that was personally resisted in the days of consecrations
My prayers are that Jesus should Prepare his Church for the RAPTURE, I am sure it will not be long from now, we have become cold and lethargic. I have so many things on my mind on the issues raised but maybe I should listen to the reaction of mature Christian on these pages since I have no place order than here to remind us of what we used to be. I sure, I will find someone to tell me that, That is what I used to be, You are right. Just pray along with me as I come out from this great pain of my coldness and weakness in following my Lord
By the grace of God, I've been a member of the deeperlife bible church since 1983 when I was in primary 3. I may not have been as old as you are but I've learnt and lived the doctrine as was given us by the church leadership. I never attended any other church until sometime in 2004 when I attended MFM and RCCG. I did my post graduate degrees in the UK and have attended a few other churches too. I can objectively tell you that deeperlife bible church is still a standard for me anywhere I go. The holiness message is still intact and the church leadership has informed her leaders to make evangelism 60-70 per cent a priority over domestic issues.

Yes, there were sincere mistakes that the church made which had been corrected including the owning and watching of Television, the cultural turban head gear of sisters etc. Honestly, deeper life has not derailed and WILL NOT DERAIL BY THE GRACE OF GOD. Most of her leaders are genuinely heaven minded and live there lives consciously with eternity in view.

Celebrating mummy kumuyi's life is not idolatry and will never be! she impacted lives and went to glory...she was the national women leader posting her pics on the church's website is not abnormal. Most churches have the pics of their founders and their wives on their websites, why must that of deeperlife be termed idolatry. It is only natural that you mourn a great mother and show her respect after her departure like deeper life members did. Deeperlife has moved on since then and great things are happening. THE CHURCH BELONGS TO GOD AND IT'S DRIVEN BY THE HOLY GHOST..NOT MEN DRIVEN...

I hope this answers some of your questions...God bless...

FOOTBALL FANS in the central African state of Congo were hurling accusations of witchcraft at each other yesterday after a freak blast of lightning struck dead an entire team on the playing field while their opponents were left completely untouched.
The bizarre blow by the weather to all 11 members of the football team was reported in the daily newspaper L'Avenir in Kinshasa, the capital of Congo.

"Lightning killed at a stroke 11 young people aged between 20 and 35 years during a football match," the newspaper reported . It went on to say that 30 other people had received burns at the weekend match, held in the eastern province of Kasai. "The athletes from Basanga [the home team] curiously came out of this catastrophe unscathed."

The suspicion that the black arts might be involved arose firstly because the opposing team emerged unharmed and then again because the score at the time was a delicately balanced one all.

"The exact nature of the lightning has divided the population in this region which is known for its use of fetishes in football," the newspaper commented.

Much of the detail about the match remains obscure as the Congo - officially known as the Democratic Republic of Congo - remains stricken by civil war between the government of Laurent Kabila and rebel forces, backed by neighbouring Rwanda, in the east of the country.

Witchcraft is often blamed for adverse natural phenomena throughout western and central Africa. It is relatively frequent for football teams to hire witchdoctors to place hexes on their opponents.

In a similar, though less deadly incident in South Africa over the weekend, six players from a local team were hurt when lightning struck the playing field during a thunderstorm.

By allowing your friend to commit immorality and fornication in your own house - in the sight of God is abomination.
God has not provided the house for you to run a brothel. Give your life to Christ, tell your friend about your decision to follow Jesus.
Respectfully chase them out of your house.

PoliticsI Was Also Attacked As A Corps Member In Ibadan–governor Yuguda Defends Violence by gazilion(op): 7:46pm On Apr 29, 2011
I was attacked as a corps member in Ibadan –Yuguda

The Governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda, stunned journalists at the Government House, Bauchi, on Thursday when he said he too was attacked as a member of the National Youth Service Corps in Ibadan. Yuguda reasoned that the corps members, who were murdered last week in the state, only fulfilled their destinies. He spoke just as the rescheduled governorship and National Assembly elections in the state was characterised by low turnout of voters. Addressing journalists after casting his vote at Shadawanka Primary School, the governor blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission for not providing adequate security for the corps members.

Yuguda was reacting to a question that bordered on the brutal murder of non-indigenes, including at least nine corps members, in his domain when rioters overran the state after President Goodluck Jonathan was declared winner of the presidential election. Over 50 people were reportedly killed during the violence while 90 churches were also burnt. He said, “They (corps members) were destined to experience what they experienced. Nobody can run away from destiny. When they were serving me, they were the happiest in Nigeria.

“Immediately I handed them over to INEC, it was the responsibility of INEC to protect them. They were not the only ones affected. My own house was burnt; they almost lynched my first son. It is part of their destiny. I was also attacked as a corps member in Ibadan in 1979. “They were attacked on the services of INEC.”

The governor, who said what happened should not be seen as a reflection of the state, declared that the state should be commended for having the best brains in security management. He described the development as unfortunate, saying the victims were serving the nation during the attack.

He said, “What happened last week was a tragedy, with the killing of Christians, Muslims, burning of churches, mosques and the destruction of innocent people’s property. But what happened in Bauchi is far less than what happened in some other states. What happened in Bauchi only lasted for one day.”

Meanwhile, the rescheduled governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state was characterised by an extremely low turnout of voters as supporters of opposition parties in the state practically abandoned the polling units for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Our correspondent, who went round some of the polling units as early as 8.30am, observed that only a few voters and agents, representing the PDP, came out to participate in the accreditation contrary to the usual crowd that gathered before 7.00am during the previous elections. The election was generally peaceful and anti-riot policemen were stationed in strategic places in the town to forestall possible breakdown of law and order. In one of the units located inside Tropical Hotel, our correspondent gathered that as at 9.15am, only about 35 people had been accredited out of 1,110 registered voters.

CrimeRe: Osun Monarch Rapes A Youth Corper by gazilion(op): 12:56pm On Apr 06, 2011
she said "she sent an sms to her pastor and CLO". All these should be investigated by the police and the report made public.
CrimeOsun Monarch Rapes A Youth Corper by gazilion(op): 11:03am On Apr 06, 2011
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (name withheld), on Tuesday accused the Alowa of Ilowa, Oba Bukola Alli, of raping her in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Friday, March 25, 2011. She alleged that the monarch raped her without using a condom. The corps member, who was at a press conference with the state Director of NYSC, Mr. Etim Enyenihi, at the NYSC secretariat, Osogbo, refused to talk to journalists but narrated her experience in a statement written in long hand. The lady said she got acquainted with the monarch, who is in his 50s, during the last voters’ registration exercise in Ilowa, a community near Ilesa. She said, “I was coming back from my place of primary assignment, which is a school, when the monarch pulled up by my side. He was in company with a boy, who I mistook for his son. He told me to join them. “We got to Ilowa, where he told me that he wanted me to be the computer facilitator of a computer programme he was planning for the community – that was after telling him I am computer literate. “We drew a plan on the format of the form and registration of pupils. The programme was subsequently announced in Ilowa schools and throughout the community. “On Friday, March 25, 2011, I came to the computer centre and found some pupils and some community members seated. I introduced the programme to them and gave them forms, which I later collected from them. After all was done, I dismissed the pupils and told the oba that I wanted to leave.”

The corps member said the Alowa “proffered to drop me off but on getting to the place of my primary assignment, he sped past, telling me that we have to go to Osogbo together so that I could enter names of the pupils into the computer in Osogbo, adding that we also had some other issues to discuss.” According to the 23-year-old lady, “Before we got to Osogbo, he said there was something he wanted to show me at Osun Grove. We toured the place together and left for his Osogbo residence.” She said the monarch’s housemaid served her orange juice and food, which she initially turned down because it was getting late but later accepted when the Alowa promised to drop her off at her place of primary assignment in Ilowa.

She added, “He had a visitor, who later left, and I told him I wanted to leave too. He said he would not allow me risk travelling late and that I should pass the night at his residence. He went inside and pulled off his shirt, came back to the room, and started caressing me. I got up and excused myself. “He said he must have his way with me or I should kill him, stressing that I made a fool of him for a long time by turning down all his offers. Prior to this, he had offered to take me out for shopping and also to take me on a trip to Ghana, which I declined.” She said the monarch followed her everywhere inside his residence, eventually leading her into a room and “immediately pulled his trousers and started forcing at my underpants and clothes. When I was nude, I pleaded with him but he threatened to soak my clothes in water.”

The lady said that at a point the monarch left her in the room having been frustrated by her resistance, giving her the opportunity to lock herself inside the room. “He later came back banging at the door, trying to force it open. I saw my phone on his bed and I sent a text to my pastor and our Corps Liaison Officer, asking them to call the police,” she said. The lady said the monarch asked her to pass the key to him through a little opening on top of the door, threatening that “if he should break open the door, the worst is going to happen to me. He said he was going to show me his mad side. “When he got in, he said I was mad and that I should go to the room, where he had stripped me naked. I pleaded that I was naked but he said I should go there, promising that he will not touch me. When I went there, I was kneeling down, crying and pleading with him but he laid on me forcefully. When I screamed, he said nobody will hear me. When he was done, he went into his room, had his bath and dressed up. I told him to go and drop me. “He dropped me off and on getting home, I called the Corps Liaison Officer and the local government Inspector, who took me to the police station in Obokun, where I narrated the incident.”

Enyenihi , who later fielded questions from the journalists, said the Director General of the NYSC, Brig.- Gen. Ismaila Tsiga, has urged the police to investigate and prosecute the monarch.
The monarch declined to comment when contacted by our correspondent. The Head, Criminal Investigation Bureau, in the command, Mr. Gbola Adeyemi, said investigations into the case had commenced. Adeyemi, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, said, “The case is already in court. We have arraigned him at the magistrate’s court already,” adding that the monarch was arrested and detained before he was arraigned in court.
