Siena: Bro, I'm not saying a J35 motor won't run with a J30 ECU.
It will. But it will NOT operate at its optimum. If you're happy to have a can that drives, without bothering about fuel, ignition and timing maps, then it's a good swap. One thing is certain - the J35 will NOT produce the same power with a J30 ECU.
Contrary to what you posted, the ECU's are NOT the same. Different part numbers, as can be expected. Both these engines have different camshafts, so the duration and timing WILL be different. So will the fuel requirements, the injectors will be bigger on the J35, and the pulse duration (duty cycle) will be wider.
In summary:
Running a J35 on a J30 ECU will result in under-fuelling, lean-running, hot-running and detonation. In extreme cases, resulting in damage to the piston crowns, burnt-out exhaust valves, and damaged spark plugs. Damaged spark plugs could end up with the electrodes breaking off, and dropping into the cylinders. The result? Scored cylinder bores, and excessive oil consumption.
Running a J30 on a J35 ECU will result in over-fuelling, hesitance at low to medium throttle openings. In extreme cases, resulting in bore wash and gasoline-diluted oil, eventually leading to premature piston ring and bore wear, and damaged crankshaft journals due to gasoline-diluted oil. Excellent write up. I noticed this on a peugeot 406 E10 - E7 swap, every thing you explained here killed the engine in 6months. |

ekeochaeke: Pls guys i really need advice before i make a decision. I have a camry 99 v6 engine that i got in november last year. The car is clean and i do love it but my challenge is fuel economy. I want to swap it for a corrolla bank type as i have seen one but i really want to know if it is a wise move. Would the effect on fuel consumption be significant. I stay in ph where traffic is hence i spend more than i can manage on fuel and my job entails i move about. Pls is it a smart move to make. Swap it if you live in lagos, ph, or any traffic infested city, you could save as much as 1k a day=25k a month = over 250k a year. |

afope: Hello Gazzuz,
I just got a 4runner 2004 V8 and the transmission is sealed. No dipstick to check whether the transmission oil is due for change or whether it has even ever been changed before. I have read on several fora about pple that tried to change the oil but started encountering problems with shifting afterwards...
Right now the gear shifts very well with no issues but for how long will that be? It is a high mileage car...
Is there a way of checking with Diagnostics to know if transmission oil change is due and where can one change the oil?
Thanks Siena please could you help out. |

Replace CVT transmission oil every 40k miles or if you get any funny jerking (automatic). You will never have any problems with the engine, use 5W30 synthetic oil and replace at recommended intervals.
Its a very good car, used one from scratch to 120k km only replaced the transmission. |

shedyman: As is customary of me, I attended Dunamis Int'l, Abuja today, the 25th day of January 2015.
I parked my car at the garage created for that purpose. One of the ushers in grey suit menacingly approached me and sternly warned me not to park there. Cars were parked beside me without any warning issued to the other drivers.
I had to look around so as to be sure I was not missing anything, after doing this, I told the usher from the pit of hell that the spaces between my car and surrounding vehicles was wide enough for entry and exit (true to my word, the cars that were in the garage when I parked had moved out and other cars had parked in their stead).
At the close of service, I was shocked to discover my tyres had been maliciously deflated. Instinctively, I had to look around for the usher from hell who took offence that I had the audacity to challenge the reasonableness of his instructions, I was not surprised to find he was no where to be found.
Consequently, I approached one of the ushers on ground to make a harmless complaint, I was dumbfounded when he threatened he was going to beat me up if I don't take my car in the state of its deflated tyres out of the garage. I dared him, but sensing I was a little enlightened he exercised restraint.
These two attitudes I experienced today got me wondering what the church of today is turning into. Are these really the signs of end time? If workers in church put up these attitudes (albeit unjustly), can it be said that the preaching that comes up from the pulpit is in anyway purging society of evil, looting, corruption, prostitution and malice?
Whilst I respect the grace and will continue to respect the grace and anointing of the Senior pastor of the church, Dr. Paul Eneche, I wonder what a christian whose faith is still shaky will do in my circumstance.
This post is actually a clarion call for pastors to be wary of the character that surrounds them, because these workers are the image the public has of the church. Bross no vex, they deflated your tyres cause it was a carrinaII (if I'm not mistaken) if you had driven this, https://media.emercedesbenz.com.s3.amazonaws.com/magazine/wp-content/uploads/52_MB2013GL450_medium.jpg he would have excercised restraint greatly. Harsh reality of Life. |

the thermostat has been removed, and am using a double cell radiator. i read your note on thermostat, so i want to change to single cell radiator. do u know anyone that can fix it for me when i get the single radiator. thanks Return thermostat, leave radiator alone. Since you said the problem started when you changed your gearbox, then I will assume the speed sensor is responsible (even though I don't see any reason why it goes blank) fit the old speed sensor on your old gear box to the new one and see if it fixes the problem. https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jvwtv8v3L._SY355_.jpgFor a camry 1999-2000 it has nothing to do with your abs. |
