By logic it is obvious that there must be an uncaused cause, the prime mover for anything to happen and this prime mover by deduction is beyond space and time as we know there was a big bang (the start of time) and obviously whoever or whatever caused the big bang existed before then.

Science is not exclusive to atheists. Ones relgious beliefs has no bearing on their work in science.

In my quest for meaning in life, I have come to the conclusion that the atheist position is a reasonable position but one that I personally have rejected as wrong .

It is very easy to say that the reason most cultures have a concept of a creator is because of the knowledge gaps or we can say that all humanity hold a connection to the creator of the universe.

I also refuse the theory that the universe is eternal (science has refuted that claim). If this is true something must have caused the universe and to avoid an illogical conclusion there must exist a first cause that is in itself eternal.

This is a logical fact.

If you choose to call this creator Alah, Jehovah , Chineke , or an eternal force... it is up to you.

Now you can specifically claim that the way people choose to worship this creator through organised religion is false but to boldly claim that the universe is an accident is simply illogical

The Big Bang did not require 'Initial Energy'.
It only required events capable of changing the state of cosmic systems.
The Big Bang was an event preceded by other events and followed up by other events.
The law of thermodynamics is about energy.
But energy involves the speed of light.
So specified time is also involved.
But 'Existence' is possible when Time is unlimited for events to occur timelessly.
So you can't attribute the Forming of Existence to specified time.

I honestly do not understand you. We know that everything is energy. The material universe is energy believed to have started in a singularity then expanded and continues to expand.

Now why this singularity? Why couldn't there just be nothing? No experience? We won't be having this conversation? There will simply be nothing.

Why was there a cosmic system in the first place instead of nothing? Randomness you may say but why not nothing instead of randomness

I have not suggested that we change the law. I am simply asking if we are just energy, why life?

In Mars, energy also changes form but we have not detected any sign of life and yes I know the conditions on earth are perfect for life. But what is tbe purpose of it?

Why the big bang at all? Where did that initial energy come from as we all know that energy can neither be created or destroyed.

So for the universe to exist the laws of thermodynamics must have been violated at least once or we do not fully understand everything yet.

Many books have been written by different intellectuals and we've also read through many of these books!
None is able to say something pertinent to the course of our existence or why we're here except a documents found amongst the Jews. According to historians, this documents was originally written in three different languages, Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
Later intellectuals combined all these documents together in one big volume and called it Bible. It reveals how a spirit being started all these but what really arouse my interest is the efficacy of this big book in the foreknowledge of certain things we later discovered to be just as this book says!
For example it talks about our vast universe and SPECIFICALLY mentioned that life could ONLY be found on earth! Now this has been proven to be true as space travelers have gone far only to discover that the earth is the ONLY planet where life could flourish. Just as this book said that the spirit being actually PREPARED the earth for living creatures! Genesis 1:1-31
Though other intellectuals criticized this book for it's illustrative presentations but NONE can explain how this ancient book that was written by those primitive dwellers knew that life ONLY could be found on earth!

The purpose of your existence and any other thing is simply to store energy and recyle them. At the quantum level, every atom is the same, that's what the universe understands.

The universe could simple have not existed. But it did. We could simply have existed without being conscious but we are. It forces us to beg the question why?

Hi Nairaland, it's been awhile. I have been going through a lot of things lately that has forced me to think of what humans have thought about for years.

What is the meaning of life?

From a Christian stand point , we are here as a preparation for eternal life with God. The question becomes why did God have to create us here first. Why not create us eternally in heaven to serve him?



From an atheist point of view, when we die we simply seize to exist. It's like trying to imagine where you were before you became conscious. If that is the case, why then are we here? Does it mean our consciousness has no purpose or meaning in the grand scheme of things?

Even leaving speed limit, Nigeria Road traffic laws says you must drive responsibly and not endanger other people's lives. But Ibinabo should know that contesting for public office in light of this is terrible for optics. Surely her handlers cant be that insensitive to put her up to this and her endorsing it even before the supreme court gives judgement is just a show of insensitivity
